Just a touch too rich for my blood. I've been thinking about getting a sound bar for myself after giving the Maxwell to my girlfriend, which works great. But Polk seems slightly fishy and I have, ahem, plenty of Bluetooth speaker devices.
I would love to buy one of these, but I've already got a great soundbar in a Samsung device with a built in, upward firing woofer. I use it in an office space with my iPod for music and as part of an HTPC setup.
Helps to drown out all the outside noise (and some of the inside noise, as well.)
@DMlivezey Usually I find just leaving the house works pretty good, too. Well, at least it did until the cell phone was invented. Now she can reach out and nag someone without ever having to roll her fat, ugly behind out of bed.
I have a samsung sound bar I use with the TV in my bedroom. It comes with a subwoofer, which is the main benefit. It improves audio and I don't need (or have room for) a full audio setup for bedroom enjoyment*.
I disagree with the "middle-ness" of soundbar concerns. I used to do the AVR 5.1 thing and it was pain in the ass. Stringing wires around the room, and the rats nest of cables behind the TV...
When I remodeled my family room, I went for simplicity. My sound bar (which included a wireless sub and rear satellites) sounds better than the TV and not nearly as complicated to manage. I'm much happier aesthetically and don't feel denied auditorially(?). With TVs so slim, bezel-free, etc, it's unlikely that their speakers will do the job they once did, so there's even more of a market for soundbars, IMO.
It's since been replaced with a newer version, but can still be found on woot from time to time. I would not hesitate to get the latest one if I was in the market, I like it that much.
@Stumpy91 Sure. Keep in mind that they're "wireless" because the Subwoofer is. The setup pairs the sub so you can place it anywhere, then the rear satellites, are wired to it. This was an ideal setup for me, but I recognize that it might not be exactly right for all.
See I think the "third side" is audiophiles with TVs in multiple rooms of the house, like myself. I have an approx. $8,000 home theater system in my living room, but I have TVs in 4 other rooms in my house, and 1 in the garage. I don't need, or even remotely WANT a full blown home theater system in every room, but I cannot stand the sound from TV speakers, thus I install soundbars in those other rooms, and the garage.
Normally overpriced "out there in the wild". Wildly overpraised by manufacturers. Kinda techie. Might not suck. Audio nerds can argue about quality. Might have bluetooth!!!! You can set a speaker dock on it just for fun. You can set a knife on it when you're not using said knife to spread one form of junk food onto another form of junk food. Might even have good audio quality. Most people have a bedroom tv stuck somewhere, so might get used. Perfect for use while watching tv, thus distracting yourself from all the meh purchases you never use. A goat might be able to eat it, if desperate. If you buy it, you feel like a fool. Who needs this? What a luser purchase, not leet at all. It will sell out way too fast. If you dont buy it, you will feel like a fool, since you could use one. (Takes bow...) Looks cute if properly animated. A Breakfast Octopus might be able to swallow it in one gulp.
to find out for sure goto "account" and then "my orders" and select the button that says "I need help with this" under the order, and fill in the form. They should reply in a couple days.
I bought one of these last summer/fall when the Microsoft store had them on sale for $100. For the money, it was a fantastic upgrade from integrated speakers, which happened to be dying on my tv anyway. My only complaint is about the remote itself, which can be iffy at times.
Ugh, anyone else having issues getting this into learning mode? I get no blinking when holding Learn button when bar is on and functioning. Nada happens.
Hello I received the goods on Friday, but the goods turned out in wet and water damage. Is it possible I want to get back to the same product in a short time?
@dsyun If you are attempting to talk to meh support, you will want to goto your orders page, find the order in question and click the "I need help with this" button under the order and fill out the information requested.
They are mon-fri normally so give them a couple days to reply.

I refreshed my page twenty two times for this? Meh.
Take it back I love it
Looking forward to possibly buying this hurrah
@legendornothing I recommend buying all hurrahs that you find.
@legendornothing I only buy organic, grass fed, free range Hurrahs
You call that a bargain?
@frozenshades, the best I ever had!
@haydesigner I am the one WHO saw what you did there...
I'm gonna go ahead and Polk the meh button on this one.
@Frijid Ouch Let me take a jab at it
@Frijid You can't Polk this deal with a stick.
Does this bluetooth speaker have FM?
@Tin_Foil No, but it runs on a Mac.
If I connect it to a PS4 and press "halo" mode... what will happen?
@thismyusername nirvana
@DMlivezey, nirvana? NAY.
That would be like crossing the streams. Don't cross the streams.
@haydesigner Want to know what happens when you cross the streams?
Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
@haydesigner i streams hulu, netflix and google music, but i don't cross them streams
@thismyusername you will have spent like $600 on crap
I miss when Meh sold knives and speaker docks. Now it's just Bluetooth speakers and Bluetooth speakers.
@lljk SDF? It's Friday, is this a speaker, doc?
Not gonna buy a pig in the Polk....
@eeterrific
What are the pyramidal tracks?
I like how the Black section of the donut graph is cream and the White section is orange.
Can I use it in the shower?
@eeterrific You can use anything in the shower if you put your mind to it. Don't let your dreams be dreams.
I will buy this when meh agrees to retroactively lower my price to $50 in the morning.
@mehdaf go find it for $60 somewhere else, post the link, and you'll have a deal
@mehdaf I am with ya on that...
@thismyusername check polk, they're still selling this, or something called the same thing for $250
@DMlivezey no doubt they are, but we come to meh for CHEAP CRAP :)
Does anyone recall the last time Meh. sold a soundbar? Price? Manufacturer? Date?
@DMlivezey
They sold a sound "deck" on 2016-01-17
Maxell Digital Bluetooth Sound Deck (Refurbished)
$33 bucks.
https://meh.com/deals/maxell-digital-bluetooth-sound-deck--refurbished-
They sold a sound bar on 2014-08-25
Philips Soundbar Home Theater (Refurbished)
$30 bucks.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/philips-soundbar-home-theater-refurbished
@thismyusername thx, i'm really trying not to impulse buy this thing, but I may just have to click bye or buy, i just can't decide...
No headphone jack for when you don't want to wake the neighbors? Meh.
@sjk3, one uses the headphone jack on the TV, not the soundbar.
@haydesigner or bluetooth headphones!
I can't cut anything with this?
@awk c'mon man, you can cut the rug
@awk You can always cut the cheese.
I generally like most Polk products but, no sub, no deal.
@eVil it's got a sub out at least?
@eVil I think it comes with a 6" sub from Subway
@DMlivezey @eVil

@MehakeMyDay Although it'll cost you a buck more than last year. 😠
@MehakeMyDay Chuck is that you? How are you and Morgan holding up?
@caffeine_dude nope not Chuck, but you can call me Al
@DMlivezey Tru dat
@thismyusername I would have paid more if it was included.
I could see this being good for a dorm room.
@PenguinOnTheRox It's supposed to be used with a TV. 😆
@Kerig3
Just a touch too rich for my blood. I've been thinking about getting a sound bar for myself after giving the Maxwell to my girlfriend, which works great. But Polk seems slightly fishy and I have, ahem, plenty of Bluetooth speaker devices.
@dcm714 your girlfriend works great? I'm happy for you.
Please donate this to me. Want it. Too poor.
Stupid question: should this not be used with TVs bigger than 39"?
@orbus you're right
@orbus just set your tv on top of two bricks then slide the soundbar underneath. The bricks give it that classy rustic look.
@MehakeMyDay I would opt for cinder blocks for that "industrial" look.
@MehakeMyDay i would think pine logs would be the rustic look.
@orbus I parsed "classy rustic look" as "classic rusty" look. And it still made sense.
I would buy something like this, if I weren't in a 4th camp. My wife is so noise sensitive that I can't use anything but headphones in my house.
@kazriko 4th camp? Does she have you sleeping in a tent?
@Kerig3 Technically, he's 3 tents down.
@jaremelz His life is in tents.
@kazriko @Kerig3 is that present tents, or past tents?
@jaremelz He's a tipi and a wigwam.
As usual, people from California don't fail on this one
I would love to buy one of these, but I've already got a great soundbar in a Samsung device with a built in, upward firing woofer. I use it in an office space with my iPod for music and as part of an HTPC setup.
Helps to drown out all the outside noise (and some of the inside noise, as well.)
@TheTexasTwister if you have other good tips for drowning out the inside noise, you might be able to start a service
@DMlivezey Usually I find just leaving the house works pretty good, too. Well, at least it did until the cell phone was invented. Now she can reach out and nag someone without ever having to roll her fat, ugly behind out of bed.
@TheTexasTwister ouch, is this your sister, girlfriend, spouse, mother, mother-in-law - you can plead the 5th, i'd understand...
@DMlivezey Let's just say she feels "entitled," and values mindless obedience over anything else.
@TheTexasTwister oh, lady crawley type, EH?
@DMlivezey Pretty much.
Sound off - 1234- who wants one? Meh do meh do- well b not .
Why does it burn when I pee?
@Bumplepimp Stop lighting your junk on fire.
@Bumplepimp gotta cut back on the alcohol - you're wasting too much of it via the exit.
For all the cowboy dressin' in them idiotic vidjoes, I woulda figured y'all knew bout the Colt M1911.
Now you're feelin it.
Dang it! Sold out by 7:35amEST. I hope you get more sound bars in stock to sell. Obviously you've found something with high demand.
@wickhameh or low supply
I have a samsung sound bar I use with the TV in my bedroom. It comes with a subwoofer, which is the main benefit. It improves audio and I don't need (or have room for) a full audio setup for bedroom enjoyment*.
*there's lotion and kleenex for that.

Also, they sold out, so who gives a shit.
@ACraigL what sound bar do you have with wireless sub and rear satellite speakers?
@Stumpy91 A Vizio model, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CDIK908
It's since been replaced with a newer version, but can still be found on woot from time to time. I would not hesitate to get the latest one if I was in the market, I like it that much.
@Stumpy91 Looks like Woot has the newer version (refurb) on sale today.
http://electronics.woot.com/offers/vizio-40-5-1-bluetooth-sound-bar-system
@ACraigL Thanks for the heads up. It's nice to see the systems with wireless speakers. A few years ago they seemed unavailable.
@Stumpy91 Sure. Keep in mind that they're "wireless" because the Subwoofer is. The setup pairs the sub so you can place it anywhere, then the rear satellites, are wired to it. This was an ideal setup for me, but I recognize that it might not be exactly right for all.
@ACraigL thanks for the clarification. That's one way of making them "wireless", but not ideal. I hate running speaker wire all over the place.
Was gonna use this as a portable speaker for pre-show pump-up music... It sold out as I was putting in the credit card number...
@Vibrum You play pump-up music before you watch each show? Just curious - what's your pump-up song for the 6 o'clock news?
@DigMe 6 o'clock news? I often listen to this song, it brightens my day, every day before this show
Sold out by morning, huh? Is the soundbar now going to be the new speaker dock?
See I think the "third side" is audiophiles with TVs in multiple rooms of the house, like myself. You're welcome meh. :)
I would have bought one, but sold out by the time I came here. Maybe next time.
A while back I found this big white boxy Apple speaker with a place to attach (older) iPods and also analog in for $30. It's plenty loud for me.
So sound bars must be the perfect meh item:
Normally overpriced "out there in the wild".
Wildly overpraised by manufacturers.
Kinda techie.
Might not suck.
Audio nerds can argue about quality.
Might have bluetooth!!!!

It will sell out way too fast.
If you dont buy it, you will feel like a fool, since you could use one. (Takes bow...)
Looks cute if properly animated.
A Breakfast Octopus might be able to swallow it in one gulp.
And so many more virtues i havent mentioned.....
Shipping address changes possible?
