@lljk You're not even in the audiophile ballpark at $40 but at least it's above the disposable mark. I'm not an audiophile and don't buy into the hype especially considering sound is objective but pretty much anyone should be able to hear an obvious difference between these and every cheaper headphone meh has sold. Extremely obvious.
@jjohns71 aww man, I bought them cus I thought the Brown and Gold one's looked sweet. I'm probably just a loser though so no big deal as we'll all get over it soon...
"Polk has created a brand new approach to headphone system design called Polk Optimized Electro-acoustic Tuning (POET), which refines the drivers even further to improve overall balance and dynamics for an even more immersive listening experience."
Seriously, POET isn't worth a joke? Youse guys slippin'.
These are actually some really nice sounding headphones! A coworker brought these into work one day and I was pretty impressed by them (obvi I stole them to listen to music on my phone to see what they were like). I thought he got a deal even at the >$100 price he paid, but this price is pretty crazy! That being said, I'm personally too addicted to the flexibility of bluetooth headphones to bite on this, but if I can come up with a person to get these for as a holiday gift, I might be in for one tomorrow.
Wake me up again when you have some over the ear high quality phones. On ear is the reverse goldilocks of headphones; not small enough or big enough to be really comfortable, just wrong.
Bonus points to you meh of the over ear come with active noise canceling.
@dodohead Agreed: I have 1 set of on ear that sound decent already, but are uncomfortable. Let's see some over the ear-phones. Not sure what my price tolerance is. I've even been checking out Craigslist. Used headphones give you the creeps? I think an alcohol scrub will ease my jeebies.
@heartny those are Bluetooth too, so at that price from someone who's not Meh purple may be the only thing they have going for them... Edit: zoomed in and read the msrp. I didn't know anyone was going after the $40 Bluetooth headphone market.
@boygenius1991 Ditto. My 808s sound fine to me, plus I have that other headphone/headset that Meh sold before (the name escapes me) for when I want to add a mic to my headphones.
I can honestly say that I have not seen anyone wearing headphones for at least 20 years. WTF would anyone want such a thing for anyway, in the age of bluetooth?
@Steve7654 Really? I see people using them every day — gangsta kids with ostentatious Beats, people on the train (including me) canceling noise, people at the office (like me) drowning out loud coworkers. Plus, a good pair of headphones make music sound amazing. I'm not an audiophile, but earbuds and lossy Bluetooth don't cut it.
Hyena isn't laughing wearing them either-- dead silence-- oh he is dead that's how they got the headphones on him .. Hey but Christmas is coming up so you could give these as gifts...
But this is our nature. We're not going to change. Unless we get acquired by a multi-billion-dollar corporation who forces us to.
There has been a little hole in my heart for the last 2 years since I had to bail on that other site. ;-) I feel complete again. Meh, you, and caffeine, complete me. (for at least a 5 minutes a day)
"The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano . The remote is supported by iPod shuffle (3rd generation and later). Audio is supported by all iPod models. “Made for iPod,” “Made for iPhone,” and “Made for iPad” mean that an electronic accessory has been designed to connect specifically to iPod, iPhone, or iPad, respectively, and has been certified by the developer to meet Apple performance standards."
I think the brown/gold looks pretty good, personally. If the mic had PS4 support I'd be all over it. Not in the market otherwise; just wouldn't use them enough.
@meh_employees... I do have to say whomever came up with this description (I suspect the start of this was a stop bitching about what we're selling/PSA from higher up the food-chain) is awesome! Yes... I agree I've suggested a few things... because I'd buy them. All unsolicited ideas and/or suggestions, which I have freely given without recourse(AKA STEAL it while it's hot... cause I don't care nor will I ever care... If for some reason I did care it would not be in a public forum...) But it's always under the assumption that you want to hear what we want to buy. Today's item description does the complete opposite. It reiterates your business strategy and reminds us that while you care about us as individuals, we don't get to cherry pick your inventory, your inventory dictates what you'll sell. Yes we choose to buy or not based upon the individual item on sale for the day, but if we don't like it SHUT UP AND DEAL! But in a nice way... I tend to be more blunt.
Right on, reminding us that while you like us and want us to buy stuff, your items are dictated by your inventory, and you don't always get to be too picky in your choices. (Unlike the delusion that a lot of us have that your warehouses are really made out of linked speaker docks and knives when you need more room you put one of them on sale and find out what's behind the next wall...)
Trying to find a way to justify buying these and I can't. I just bought some cheap-but-nice headphones a couple weeks ago, getting these would be spending a lot on headphones!
only gripe i have with them after using them at work for nearly 2 months is that they hurt your ears (if you have larger ears like me) if you wear them for a little while. Sound quality is not bad and they do get really loud if you crank up dat volume bruh. all in all, definitely worth the 40 dropped on them. do they even come close to my Sennheiser HD 598s? NO of course not, but i didnt spend 250 dollars on these either.

Oh good, I was starting to feel bad about bashing the item every day.
Nice cans...?
I didn't know $40 for headphones was "not expensive." Maybe by audiophile standards it isn't.
@lljk 40 bucks is not expensive. Not cheap, but not expensive.
@cblack
Darn it, I had some $300 audiophile ethernet cables I was gonna try and sell ya.
Polks are for The Facebook.
@Fish_Kungfu Please explain...
@Moose Polks sounds like pokes
I "hear" a sale is going on- meh
@AttyVette don't come unhinged
@nadroj I HEAR you my friend!!
Why they gotta look so ugly?
@jjohns7i agree -looks like they were duct taped together:)
@jjohns71 aww man, I bought them cus I thought the Brown and Gold one's looked sweet. I'm probably just a loser though so no big deal as we'll all get over it soon...
@rjsmead I really like how those ones look too.
$180 list, siriusxmly?
meh. ugly ass headphones. if i wanted headphones target has some brand on clearance every week
"Sounds" like a sale well maybe not
Android or Idevice compatible inline?
@smerfherder Amazon reviews say crApple only.
Is that really a heart inside the ear cup on the brown/gold?
@jmbaker It's the one from their logo. http://www.polkaudio.com/
Mehdphones
No!

@stinks You don't know how we worked to get a "and they know it" joke into that bullet.
These are actually some really nice sounding headphones! @liz Thanks for a comment on the actual product. May pick up a set if they are still here in the morning
Very decent reviews at Amazon. Not in market for just music headphones though.
Wake me up again when you have some over the ear high quality phones. On ear is the reverse goldilocks of headphones; not small enough or big enough to be really comfortable, just wrong.

@dodohead you're in luck. Based upon the appearance of the dodo bird head, just about any on-ear headset should function as an over-the-ear headset.
Would have bought if they were over ear not on ear. Meh
Evine (formerly known as ShopNBC) has purple ones for less tonight. Probably just as meh as Polk, but they do have a purple advantage.
@heartny those are Bluetooth too, so at that price from someone who's not Meh purple may be the only thing they have going for them... Edit: zoomed in and read the msrp. I didn't know anyone was going after the $40 Bluetooth headphone market.
These are almost a perfect match for my nicer leather belts.
That's not a good thing.
@Ceej I thought the fashion rule of thumb was to match shoes, belt, and headphones?
got some lovely 808s from you a while back, don't need these, thanks.
@boygenius1991 Ditto. My 808s sound fine to me, plus I have that other headphone/headset that Meh sold before (the name escapes me) for when I want to add a mic to my headphones.
@sjk3 I think you mean the jbls. They were twofer Tuesday items if memory serves. I've got some some somewhere but haven't had pain to use them yet
Fuko/Fuku hopes dashed again...
I can honestly say that I have not seen anyone wearing headphones for at least 20 years. WTF would anyone want such a thing for anyway, in the age of bluetooth?
headphones = the new speaker docks
@Steve7654 basically corded headphones are for those who like the music to be un-mangled by bluetooth... and or prefer secure devices.
@Steve7654 Some people still enjoy high fidelity audio.
@Steve7654 I use corded head phones at work because I hate when batteries die...
@Steve7654 I assume most people would use these headphones in their home so unless you're a peeping tom you wouldn't notice.
@Steve7654 You must not have kids. I make them use headphones.
@sammydog01 same. I no watch youtube with them
@Steve7654 Really? I see people using them every day — gangsta kids with ostentatious Beats, people on the train (including me) canceling noise, people at the office (like me) drowning out loud coworkers. @Steve7654 do you live in a cave on a desert island?
Best Buy had these for $40 shipped on 1/12/2015.
I missed them then. Maybe I'll get them now.
Hyena isn't laughing wearing them either-- dead silence-- oh he is dead that's how they got the headphones on him .. Hey but Christmas is coming up so you could give these as gifts...
Maybe they should bundle these with the leftover ooma telos
@Steve7654 and speaker docks
WTF is the hyena doing, anyway?
@gertiestn listening to the musicial soundtrack of the "Born Free" movie of course..I am "lioning" about that
@gertiestn or maybe he is listening to that song... In the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight...
@AttyVette @gertiestn podcast? http://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/podcast.mp3?fileId=6BAFDC89-723D-441F-B52152E9626A4E27&ref=sciam
These are really fugly, but they probably sound better than the monster ncredible offered before? Any thoughts or listening experience?
@robson seriously, the reviews seem good on them ..
Ebay has it for $45 (shipped).
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-Polk-Audio-Hinge-Brown-Headphones-FREE-SHIPPING-AM4119-A-AM4119A-/111764088015?hash=item1a05a8a4cf
At $25 I'd be in, but $40 is a bit too rich for me.
Lol @meh: "what you want has nothing to do with what we want to sell"
@bacon4jason That explains SDF.
I'm busy finding the mood to set it all
Sorry meh, I can't ear you.
@cinoclav
@MEHcus I think you're the only one that got it.
@cinoclav
Brilliant write up! Finally... truth in advertising...
I am no longer a meh virgin... and I like it
@bradyh30
Not that great of a deal.
There has been a little hole in my heart for the last 2 years since I had to bail on that other site. ;-) I feel complete again. Meh, you, and caffeine, complete me. (for at least a 5 minutes a day)
@CaffeineGuy kudos - a double-brother star.
I wish I needed these. Good product for a modest price. Pretty good deal if you ask me.
From the User Manual:
This might be good to know up front.
Just sayin'.
@2many2no

Can I change my order to be 2 black and silver and 1 brown?
@saradeleo1 I'd contact support. They are your best bet. @Thumperchick @hollboll @galmaegi
@saradeleo1 meh.com/support is your best bet to change an order. They might get your request in time!
Trying to find a way to justify buying these and I can't. I just bought some cheap-but-nice headphones a couple weeks ago, getting these would be spending a lot on headphones!
ugly but maybe they sound really good and are comfortable
Any headphones are better than the avalanche of vacuums on the "other" site in the old days.
Quality control in the Chinese vacuum factories must be terrible.
These are actually pretty good headphones! Sound pretty good and very efficient. Better than meh.
only gripe i have with them after using them at work for nearly 2 months is that they hurt your ears (if you have larger ears like me) if you wear them for a little while. TLDR: good for price.
