I have not tried these. After seeing the reports from the folks who bought some of the prior batches, I have felt it prudent to continue this state of affairs
@Fe2_O3@njrich@werehatrack I have yet to try my orange because the berry turned me off these QUICKLY. I hope the orange is good. Maybe the berry I got was a bad one and should try another bottle but… ugh.
Ugh sugar AND stevia. Just once I would like for these electrolyte powders to either just be less sweet or admit what they are and go the full on Kool aid route. Artificial sweeteners in any quantity just make my stomach turn.
@neuroticsilence Yeah I nitice this said steviol which I assume is a product of stevia. I don’t absolutely hate stevia but I agree with you about “just gimme the vits and electrolytes (what plants crave) and minimize the sweeteners.” At least it’s not sucralose which is an instant-avoid for me.
Just here to “well actually…” a decathlon is 10 events, not 2. Biathlon is two (skiing & shooting).
Olympic decathlon is 100-metre dash, running long (broad) jump, shot put, high jump, and 400-metre run, 110-metre hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1,500-metre run.
@jamesmcp came here to say the same thing. Though I was going to go with the duathlon for the 2-event, running and biking. Both two discipline competitions, the biathlon is winter and the duathlon is summer.
@omally Dehydrated hydration supplements are a good concept because I don’t want to pay for the water at their prices when I get it cheap at home.
I have been using Nuun tablets for years because even though they killed off my two favourite flavours there are still other flavours I like.
I tend to like any drinks at a much lower sweetness level than basically anyone I know. My preferred hydration powder product stopped existing, and I really missed having it around the last time I had a hangover.
All the complaints on this page might actually be a sign this particular Meh day might be for specifically me (and possibly nobody else). Taking a gamble and buying a stock of these.
@3Phen I agree with you on preffering a lower sweetness level. These don’t have much sugar, but are sweetened with Stevia, which is natural, but I am not a fan of the taste it imparts to the parent items it is usually in. I have not had this particular brand though.
@3Phen What was your preferred product? I’m a fan of Emergen-C Electro Mix which is about as flavorful as Alka-Seltzer, and while it’s not completely gone it’s getting hard to find.
@3Phen@beardo I like DripDrop, but mix them with a nearly full bottle of water when the directions say to mix it in 8 oz. of water. The price can add up, as with most of these, so I don’t drink them often. I also use Trioral, which has no sweeteners or flavors, so it doesn’t have the best flavor, but feels like these other mixes on steriods when it comes to the electrolytes. It is also a much better value as each packet is designed for 32 oz. I just split it between 2 bottles of water, and hope I did so fairly evenly. You can also add some lemon or the like to help add some flavor, but I rarely bother. The Trioral can be a little bit of an acquired taste, I suppose, but is worth it.
@wyvern Ooh – I hadn’t noticed the stevia, I’ve had mixed impressions of that. Going to go with a smaller gamble. Thank you for bringing that to my attention!
EDIT: too late to cancel and re-order, actually. Guess I’ll live with what I get! Should be fine for dire straits in any case.
What I had before was Hydralyte. The powder sticks are made for 8oz of water, which means I can mix it in a taller glass and it’s even less sweet. They stopped making the basic lemonade flavor I like a year or two ago, as part of some kind of rebrand. But it’s back recently!
And thank god, because when I got my shipment of Halo I couldn’t stand it! I was hoping all the flavor complaints meant it was chalky and unsweet, which I would be happy with. But instead… god, what is that SMELL? I couldn’t place the smell, but it was very strong made me nearly want to barf. Tried multiple flavors, all had it. Definitely not something that would shepherd me through a hangover. Buying $100 worth at once was a huge gamble and a huge mistake.
@xobzoo please skip them! They taste awful. I ordered last time around and really wanted to use it to drink more water. I tried as many as I could, even using 2 packs per glass but taste is terrible!
I am not able to order, I get errors and it wants me to resign up for a subscription even though it knows I’m already a member. Argh! I love these things. What should I do?
The mocha latte kind is pretty good. I like to mix it with my protein shake or add a 1/4 packet to my cup of joe when I’m feeling extra meh in the morning.
@jjmichaud thanks, good to know… because I ordered one this morning but have never tried it before. Also I plan to only use 1/4 to 1/2 packet at a time as you suggest to not get a 100mg dose of caffeine at once (And as my cardiologist suggests also…)
@ironcheftoni That’s been added:
Lemonade: Best By May 2024
Orange: Best By May 2024
Mixed Berry: Best By December 2024
Peach: Best By April 2025
Iced Mocha Latte: Best By August 2024
Iced Caramel Latte: Best By January 2025
The original price is ridiculously pricey. $10 per ounce for just hydration powder with vitamins and caffeine? Even meh so-called price cut is not helping it enough. There are products out there doing the same thing at a much more reasonable price. Even with some are about to expire, I am not convinced.
@goldnectar - I have yet to find an instant espresso drink that tastes good. Most are mediocre and do not get tried again. Some I pour out after the first sip. My unit of measure is whether I can tolerate the entire drink. Let us know if you find one.
Got these during a meh-rathon. Lemonade was fine but the caramel latte is absolutely disgusting. Was hoping it could replace coffee in the AM when I’m feeling hungover, but no way.
Much prefer liquidIV & will probably stick to that from now on.
@pmarin I’m not sure how to describe it. There is a hint of berry, but it tasted like something that had been on the shelf for 10 years, rediscovered and sold.
I take it you don’t like stevia. I don’t mind stevia, but the one packet I’ve tried so far was not tasty. I hope it was just a bad pack.
@PhotoJim Electrolyte != Energy boost. The non coffee ones contain no caffeine or related stimulat components. They may be okay as workout sweat loss replenishments, but for energy … not so much. As for the coffee, the reports on the caramel espresso have not been encouraging when it comes to flavor. Maybe if they were used to increase the electrolyte level in an actual latte, they’d be inoffensive. I don’t know about that, because I don’t drink coffee anyway.
I have not tried these. After seeing the reports from the folks who bought some of the prior batches, I have felt it prudent to continue this state of affairs
@werehatrack good choice!
@njrich @werehatrack the orange lemonade and berry are great.
@werehatrack I endorse this message!
@Fe2_O3 @njrich @werehatrack I have yet to try my orange because the berry turned me off these QUICKLY. I hope the orange is good. Maybe the berry I got was a bad one and should try another bottle but… ugh.
Highly recommend staying clear of the peach flavor at the very least. Horrible.
It’s the chalkiest thing I’ve ever tasted; and I once ate a piece of chalk.

@omally Dehydrated hydration supplements are a good concept because I don’t want to pay for the water at their prices when I get it cheap at home.

@mediocrebot river of hydration electrolyte supplement
@medz AI don’t know shit about what plants crave, I guess.
@melonscoop probably don’t want to show AI that movie…it may decide to end humanity before it gets that bad.
I thought cucumber Gatorade would be terrible. I like it more than the blue one now. God it’s good

I’m partly heeding the warnings, though, by staying clear of Peach.

@3Phen Let me know how they work out. Out of curiosity, what was the kind you used to get but aren’t available anymore?
@wyvern Late reply, but:
What I had before was Hydralyte. The powder sticks are made for 8oz of water, which means I can mix it in a taller glass and it’s even less sweet. They stopped making the basic lemonade flavor I like a year or two ago, as part of some kind of rebrand. But it’s back recently!

Oh yeah and I also noticed that Hydralyte has stevia as well, if anyone’s curious. Dunno if it’s the amount or if stevia just doesn’t bother me.
These look a bit interesting to me, but I don’t feel like I actually need them.
Who’s going to try to talk me into or out of them?
@xobzoo I feel the same way.
@xobzoo please skip them! They taste awful. I ordered last time around and really wanted to use it to drink more water. I tried as many as I could, even using 2 packs per glass but taste is terrible!
I was expecting more dry humor concerning this Deal.
@phendrick Happy to disappoint you.
For the love of god Meh, post pictures of the nutrition label. People who buy supplements want to know the ingredients and nutrition
@werfy55 yeah one of the pages goes to 3rd party site that doesn’t display correctly, at least not on my iPad.
EDIT looks like it works now.
A little bit of sugar increases absorption. A sugar-free hydration product is counter-productive.
halo 3
I am not able to order, I get errors and it wants me to resign up for a subscription even though it knows I’m already a member. Argh! I love these things. What should I do?
@Fe2_O3 Your profile shows that you’re not currently a member.
@Fe2_O3 Have you tried the regular way to buy this instead of using the backslash buy method?
@Fe2_O3 Yup, your profile says you’re an ex-very mediocre person.
The most common reason this happens is that your card expired or got reissued with new info and you forgot to update it.
That’s assuming you didn’t cancel and forgot about doing so too, lol.
I thought about ordering these, but way too many comments leave a bad taste in my mouth.
@hchavers normally you’re supposed to mix the powder with water. What are you mixing the comments with? I would suggest vodka.
I’ll give it a try.

@jjmichaud I’ve been adding my fruity ones to smoothies from time to time.

@melbell better than…I hope!
That stuff is like drinking sea water at the recommended concentrations.
/giphy salt water
@melbell Liquid IV is very strongly preferred by all in my house. The coffee flavor (HALO) is the only one tolerable.
I’m not sure drinking that amount of vitamins is going to do anything besides give you kidney stones or fuck up your liver. I’m out on this one.
I’m not the hydration head in my household, but the peach and lemonade taste unobjectionable to me.

I’m down for some instant espresso drinks. I hopefully they’re not awful.

They cancelled my order last time not falling for it again
@kimkat did you order the pink lemonade last time? I did and they let me choose a different flavor since they never got that flavor like they thought.
Got these during a meh-rathon. Lemonade was fine but the caramel latte is absolutely disgusting. Was hoping it could replace coffee in the AM when I’m feeling hungover, but no way.

I cannot endorse the berry. Buyers beware.
I have hopes for the orange. But man… the experience of that berry left such a bad taste in my mouth…
@nhendley let me guess… it tasted like berry flavor with stevia.

Stevia rears its ugly head again!
@looseneck The not-really-sweetness and the minty aftertaste, it disturbs us, Preciouss, we hates it.
