@shahnm I bought these for my buddy who grows his own and whose Mom (RIP) used to collect garden gnomes so they are all over his house. there are no children nearby to offend although they might offend his father and I’m on board with that.
@Kyeh Soda cans are not more standard in my world, since I don’t drink soda and wouldn’t have a can handy. I do however eat bananas and would have them handy. I even carry a plastic one on a key chain in case an emergency arises needing scale.

I expected to find more consumer photos of things they found in stores (or at home), but instead found a lot of diagrams. And other unrelated (and useless) crap. So I narrowed it down to the two I felt were best.
No, I don’t think anybody really needed to see this; I’ve assumed everyone [who cares at all] has already seen different can sizes. (especially if you’ve ever been shopping in an Asian market) But I was surprised at how many “standard” sizes there actually were. (I’d been guessing around four.)
In short, soda cans and bananas are approximately equal in their usefulness: only good for a vague sense of size, not for actual measurement. But bananas are funnier (because repetitionmemes!), so bananas win. That’s why I keep one in my pocket all the time.

Extra thoughts: We don’t necessarily need the kitten/cabbage to be smaller than the gnomes, just vaguely within the size range. Showing that “it’s a little smaller than X” is just as good as “it’s a little larger than Y” in most cases. /showme a kitten cabbage next to a garden gnome
Now, if we had any idea what size a kitten cabbage is, we’d know roughly how big that gnome is.
