Electricity and water…hmm…is using this how I get naturally curly hair?
I wonder where the line is between getting this wet in the shower and getting this too wet so it shorts out. Of course this is meh and it may come pre-shorted out so we don’t have to worry about that.
@Kidsandliz The Amazon reviews suggest that too wet/shorting out happens pretty easily, although that does not seem to be nearly as much of a problem with other brands that look the same. On the other hand, customer service is praised, so with a one year warranty maybe and a second one to rotate in while waiting for the last one that shorted out to be replaced, maybe it’s okay.
According to the reviews if you use this with long hair you end up with a rats nest. So if you let it dry that way you’d end up with curly hair too. A win win.
Maybe meh should have sold this with the wet brush they keep selling.
@curtise Well that is the greatest, most powerful, emotionally evocative Meh order number of all time. It concisely and unequivocally achieves everything we strive for in three glorious words. God bless America and all that is good and decent!
What the heck is this nonsense? I mean someone thought this would be a good idea? I’m betting there were a million of these things that didn’t sell…and meh bought them all. Wonder how long before they manage to sell them all.
@savvysapphire I could see this helping out my scalp a lot, since I have eczema and that causes it to flake regularly. I use a plastic-bristled scrub brush now to manually massage it when shampooing, so this would be kicking it up a notch.
Unfortunately, too many reviews on Amazon mention that there’s no seal on the battery compartment. So no matter how well you screw it closed, water gets in and kills it. Given that, I don’t see it being worth $8, even for two of them.
@KevinS10 I also have eczema which is why I’m purchasing this. You can buy non battery operated ones for $10 for two. Siliscrub brand. The silicone should be gentler to your scalp compared to plastic.
@ParadisePete Alternatively, Fakespot is inaccurate to the point of uselessness, and should not be considered an acceptable substitute for critical reading of reviews by a reasonably intelligent human.
I almost bought a non vibrating one of these two weeks ago. I’m glad I waited. I don’t see the need for this to vibrate, so if that part breaks, I don’t care.
Yay purple!

Edit: giphy must of updated. Not a single thing comes up. Lame.
I’ve used a non vibrating one in the shower for the last couple of months. It’s a game changer. I only shampoo every few days because my hair is dry. It gets my scalp very clean feeling in less time than normal shampooing. I have to be a little more careful about getting tangles than I do when I shampoo without it but it’s not really hard to figure out how to avoid them. I’ve never had one that vibrates, so it could be completely different using that feature.
@goldnectar I have long hair, almost down to my waist. I shampoo my head, not really my “hair”. Use the device to scrub the shampoo into my scalp, trying not to wad the hair up on top of my head (if that makes sense). Then I rinse the shampoo out down the length of my hair to lightly wash the actual hair. Hope that makes sense!
I promised myself that I would write an in-depth functional review for this ingenious device within ten days of ordering. Today is day 10 so here we go.
It never arrived. Overall I would have to say that is both a surprise and a disappointment. Okay, not really a surprise but a disappointment nonetheless.
Came back to review this since I’ve gotten to use it.
I HATE the vibration on it. First of all, it’s a pain to turn off. Second, it actually hurts my head. It makes the little silicone fingers feel super stiff.
I have mild eczema which gives me dry skin. My scalp is so much nicer than I could ever scrub with just my fingers. I’m happy.
I still haven’t gotten mine. I was going to buy some from Amazon about a week before these popped up so I’m glad I waited. Now I’m still waiting. I just want super clean hair!

@Kidsandliz Just use your non-refrigerated batteries.

@Kidsandliz @rrichmon You should use lithium batteries for the best wet performance.
According to the reviews if you use this with long hair you end up with a rats nest. So if you let it dry that way you’d end up with curly hair too. A win win.

Human/Irk hybrids would be the end of civilization!!!
@Kerig3 Or the beginning of a new, more blasé civilization…
c’mon- who doesn’t like getting head in the shower?
@alacrity Too many pointy teeth on this one…
@shahnm think of it as nibbling affectionately?
@alacrity Ah yes. The very best kind of nibbling of all…

Looks like a lot of I.R.K.S. will be buzzing next round

@savvysapphire 2019’s candy corn?
@mehcuda67 @savvysapphire How long until they sell the CBD infused version?

Are these just for massaging the scalp? There is other hair that needs deep cleaning massages.
@hchavers YMMV.
(Your massager may vibrate)
The shape, the teeth, the water, the batteries-
They should call these vibro-leeches.
@mehcuda67 Or Vibro Lampreys
Fakespot thinks the reviews are legitimate. So they (the reviewers) might be delusional, but they’re probably not shills.

I rarely shampoo my hair, but this should make it a lot more fun when I do.
These things are great for people who don’t have fingers.

I can’t decide. I’m concerned about the tangle factor. Hmm.
@moonhat I’ve watched several reviews of these types of brushes. No one complained about tangles. They all had straight hair though.
@moonhat @RiotDemon I’m in. Got the wet brushes and they’re not meh so I guess I will give this a try with my long hair.
Plus I actually remembered to use my trivia coupon so $3 is worth the risk !
@RiotDemon I wonder how it is with wavy hair. I should prob give it a shot.
My ass is just itching for one of these…

@mygirlsmom3 Am I using mine wrong? I just use it to stimulate my scalp in certain areas. You use it for your entire head and hair?

Sure. Get one for me and another to start stocking up on the family white elephant gift Christmas party.
Growing up, we were introduced to similar devices, called fingernails.
“”"“scalp”""" massagers. Riiiiiiight.
Eh, even if if it gets water in it and burns out, it’s still useful as a regular scalp massager.

@cinoclav ummm…I don’t think that’s what he giving him!
@chienfou He meant ‘handy.’
Notice the motorcyclist’s right arm disappears, but to where…hmmm?
Super pissed. Bought this from amazon two weeks ago for $6 for one. FU meh
@sarahtarah Doesn’t seem like meh is the one you should be mad at.
@cinoclav sure it is. It wouldn’t make sense if I was being rational about it.
@sarahtarah Sorry, I’ll try harder next time to overprice stuff.
@dave please do so I don’t feel like I got a horrible deal. KThanks
Lube this thing up with some… shampoo and go to town washing my… hair.

Not with that attitude.
Came for the irk, was not disappointed.
My buddy did that once to me. He told me do not look at this woman. I looked, square boobs and all. Shutters.
@lysdexia lol
@llangley
Lol. Well played.

In for one of each color. Is the white a match for dandruff? The black matches the floor of my tub. The others match my towels.
[Maybe J/K?]
I’ll take a chance that I can use some silicon seal to waterproof them. Or that black goo that the guy on TV uses to make a boat out of a screen door.
@phendrick
/image that’s a lotta damage!

Each came with a mini Phillips head screwdriver! Wasn’t expecting that from a $4 item. And the brush didn’t injure me. (at least yet)

I got mine, I haven’t attempted to use them yet.
I got mine a while ago. They worked fine. Will be nice to use as a scalp massager after a rough day
