Phillips Hue Hub
1Has anyone else had their hub fail? Mine seems to have completely stopped working. The router can still see it as a device (I think) but the app no longer recognizes it and a reset did not affect it. I am pretty sure this occurred after a power outage so I’m thinking it was affected by a power surge or something. I’ve unplugged the hub and the router and am trying to decide whether I want to buy a new hub or just use the bulbs manually.

You know where you can stick your question!? In an email to CS. That way we can try to help.
I am pretty sure there is no longer a warranty for it. I guess I was just wondering if mine was especially fragile.
Thanks!
What do the lights on your hub do after you power it on? Have you tried using a different ethernet cable, or a different port on your router? Cleared the cache from the app you are using?
The lights are the solid for the leftmost two and blinking for the rightmost one. I don’t know that I have a different ethernet cable but I’ll look around. I’ll have to check the router ports.
I actually went down to the pool (where the free wireless lives) and downloaded three different apps. None of them seem to see the hub.
I’ll plug everything back in tonight and try different configurations of cable/port. I’ll admit I didn’t even try that before.
Thanks for the suggestions
@cf1 If the third light is blinking it means you should have internal access, but not world access. This could be because of a DHCP setting (app or router), or firewall configuration in your router.
If you navigate to the local IP of your bridge/hub, do you get to the webpage for the Hue?
One last thing. Make sure when looking for your bridge via an app, your phone is on the same network as your bridge and not on your cell data or another network. It’s how communication is done during setup.
I"ll have to try navigating to the local IP. I can’t remember if I tried that, although I think I did.
My iPod doesn’t have any other network access so it should be good on that account.
It turns out it was the ipod. Something had changed which caused it to not see most networks. I did a network reset this morning prior to heading up to the apple store and suddenly I all kinds of networks showed up again.
Thanks for the suggestions - that was what was needed to get me in the right direction
