@ParadisePete Question for you - is it viable as a replacement for a regular electric shaver, to keep the face clean shaven daily? Or is this really just for maintaining a beard? Thanks.
@ParadisePete@sfwineguy reviving this old thread to say yes. It actually shaves very close for an electric. Doesn’t pinch or anything, slight razor burn in a couple areas but went away quick. I usually use clippers and this thing is pretty good both for longer hair (use the sides) and for a close shave. Pretty impressive overall
@ParadisePete@sproinky Thanks. I’ll likely grab one next time it shows up here, unless I buy a replacement standard issue razor first. I appreciate the real life feedback.
@bass_pumped I haven’t used the newer versions of the ball shaver, but if they’re anything like the previous versions (and they look pretty much the same…), this one, no contest.
I used to use a safety razor, and it did a good job of not dragging/pinching/cutting, but it required a lot of caution and was time consuming to use as a result, as well as being time consuming to clean/maintain. I tried a couple different ball trimmers and didn’t find any of them to be at all better than regular clippers.
Picked up one of these cheap and if it ever dies, I’ll pay full price to replace it. I use the attachment shown in the main image, with the guide combs on the sides, but the face of the blade exposed. It gives a trim almost as good as my safety razor, and while I could cut myself with it, I’d have to be deliberately trying.
I also have a full beard, but I use it sans attachments to keep the margins neat and do some shaping now and then, and while it’s definitely lacking in power compared a decent pair of regular clippers, it handles the jobs I give it without complaint. Blades last a long time, I don’t usually have to change them more than once a year.
I got this for my guy and he likes it!
I have this and I’m happy with it. This is the best price I’ve seen.

I got this for my dad in memory care. It does a good job on his thick beard and is safe for him to handle on his own.

This one or the ball shaver?
