It needs to go on a diet. It looks a bit plump!
Here's the official DJI info.
@ruouttaurmind I've been reading about the P4 and love the follow me feature. It would be nice to do hill repeats on my bike and have the phantom 4 follow me so I can analyze my form. The obstacle detection is a great feature if it works. I also heard that the P3 has a follow me feature, but no obstacle detection (correct me if I'm mistaken).
@garyhgaryh P3 has follow me, but I it relies on the transmitter location for it's POI. P4 can follow anything you point to because it's image based rather than signal based.
Ok... I admit it... this is interesting. I read the Engadget article, and I perused he DJI official information and I'm intrigued. It is possible DJI finally raised the bar? The features, if they work as advertised, and the reliability is there (they ALWAYS work as advertised), then I could actually see value in this platform, even at the retail price point of about $1400. I'll have to review the camera specs, but the feature set, and promised 28 minute flight time, could draw me back to reconsider DJI.
Camera specs: 4K/30 and 1080p/120. They're not saying anything about the 2.7K capability.
5km control range. That's a hair over 3 miles!!!
@ruouttaurmind good enough to reach Groom Lake from the road?
@sportykev I'm guessing you'd be in custody before the P4 left the ground!
When I was at Groom Lake a few years ago, there was a white SUV that followed me into the area, then pulled off the road into the bushes when I stopped to take photos of the "Photography Prohibited" signs. It was very quickly replaced with another white SUV on a hill overlooking the road about 150 yards from where I was at. Driver and passenger were watching my activities with binoculars. Rumor (confirmed by me) places a series of vibration sensors monitoring the area and they know you're coming the moment you turn off the highway.
@ruouttaurmind So I need to convert my vehicle to a hoovercraft/Quadcopter when I leave the road ;)
@DJMajickMan Of course then the vehicle would probably fit right in (over Area 51) and security wouldn't even give a second glance!
I really enjoy Tested videos, (backed by the guys behind Mythbusters)
