@Kidsandliz@TheGreatNico I mean I feal like someone helped him up. Cats on the other hand. Just show up places. I just heard the noise and tried to get a pic while processing “wtf are you doing”.
KitKat got on the counter and then in the cupboards this is new.
@unksol one of mine finally figured out how to open all kitchen cupboards and drawers. Nothing was safe. I had to tie things shut or the low ones block with something heavy. The cat version of child proofing. That cat couldn’t tell the difference, I presume by smell, between flour - hated, and pancake mix (loved) and so would try to break into both. He also loved bread and would bite though the plastic the bread was in.
Haven’t needed to protect that kind of stuff since he died… well leaving my dinner in reach and unattended by me is dangerous but no one now breaks into food storage areas to try to get at food. Now I need to protect phone cords and to some degree other cords but the lightening end of phone cords is his favorite.
@Kidsandliz KitKat never wanted anything in the cabinets. He just got in them cause. Cat.
Technically, and I’m sure I’ve told this before, the only thing he ever got “into” was a bottle of oil. Because he slipped past me into a less than foot deep pantry while I quickly grabbed something, and shut the door and I guess he tried to climb the shelf. Which is a reasonable reaction to being trapped in a pantry.
He just put claws into a bottle of oil and was drenched when I found him… I have pics somewhere of the failed first bath before I had to go to work and then the box of corn starch dousing it took to get it out.
@Kyeh I think his species is from Columbia so he likes coffee. I don’t allow him to drink it but he like to lick the bottom of my empty cup. He’s already hyper so the last thing I want to do is give him caffeine.
@Kyeh They are not cat proof for more reasons than what yours does. My cat who died last year liked to chew on them. She’d eventually shred them. At least she got her teeth brushed that way. LOL.
@cengland0@Felton10 Are you trying to make people without pets feel better about their petless status? Because you’ve convinced me that birds are more trouble than cats, even though they’re beautiful.
@blaineg I’m so surprised my bird didn’t die when chewing through that electrical cable. Both the hot and neutral is exposed. The ground is too so the hot plus any other wire should have given him a big shock.
@cengland0@Felton10@Kyeh eh. The cats use the couches as scratching posts. Twixie has diarea and has decided not to use the litter box anymore. I doubt the birds are doing more damaged.
@cengland0@Felton10@unksol Euw. Sorry to hear that! I guess when you have that many of them, the problems multiply. I have had problems when my cats got really old, but right nowmy younger cat is a very good boy. He does shed a lot.
@cengland0@Felton10@Kyeh well she is old (we think) and she is going to the vet. I just figured out who it was with the security cams/motion detection. Just saying. Cats can be little shits to lol. But in my experience it’s very rare to have cat problems
@cengland0 Luckily Walter hasn’t chewed on any baseboards in our new house. In our old house he seemed to be partial to the vanity doors in the bathroom.
But regardless of which house, his walkabouts always seemed to end up in the master bath. He walks in there and just stands there. Don’t know what the attraction is-hope it isn’t the smell.
@Felton10 sometimes I think Emerald is flying back to his cage in the office but then later discovered he flew into the bathroom. If I don’t catch him fast enough, he will chew up the toilet paper and throw the debris all over the bathroom.
I usually keep the bathroom door closed just for that reason but today I forgot and caught him in there. Luckily I discovered it before he did any toilet paper damage. Have to consider these things when bird’s wings are not clipped and he is a full flight bird.
I think he likes to fly in the bathroom because he loves his daily baths and thats where he gets them. But when I’m not there to give him a bath, he becomes destructive.
@cengland0 I have Walter’s wing clipped by the vet, but only enough that he isn’t full flight-he can fly down to the floor and land easily enough and not crash land. After a couple of months he can fly the length of the house if he chooses but can’t gain much altitude. And when he takes his little walkabouts to the bathroom, he always seems to leave a little present about in the same area in the dinning room (luckily no carpet in the house).
But still-I’m sure he is happier not being locked up in cage. Can’t think of any animal especially one this intelligent that would like that. Obviously extra effort on our part, but small price to pay for a happy bird.
@Felton10 I do lock mine in the cage at night and when I have company because he likes to attack my guests and he goes for their hands and eyes.
Whenever it’s day time and I’m home, he is out of the cage in the same room as me. I have wall to wall tile so any messes are easy to clean up. I still put cardboard or a towel in the common places where he likes to go. Less cleanup that way.
@cengland0 Walter is locked in the cage at night and when we leave the house. He is OK was new people even to the extent of getting on their hands even if I am in the next room. Probably figures if they are in the house, they are alright with me.
@Felton10 Emerald used to be okay with guests until my neighbor kids wanted to see him all the time and they came in large groups. When he would fly on someone’s shoulder, they would scream and he would panic and fly somewhere else and the kids would scream again. Now he doesn’t like anyone else in the house so I can never let him out of the cage when I have company because he will attack them.
Steve and Bucky. I do believe Bucky will look like D’artanyan as he grows up. He’s getting fluffier by the day. The other cats? Sleek. Wendy, the little black kitten, is going to be a stunning adult.
They’re in the teething stages now. Fun finding these little things. You’d think with six kittens losing baby teeth, there would be quite a few, but they most likely swallow most of them. The penny is for size comparison.
And here’s a fun game. Rip down the wallpaper. sigh–oh, well, it’s old.
@lisaviolet mmm yes we haven’t seen Wendy the Witch for a while. Must keep track of that one.
Alex is sleeping on me and bigger than his momma so now she’s the sleek little black one but she still almost never comes down and freaks out when I give her treats… But at least whatcha let’s you pet her, Snickers plays and runs all over the house, and D’artanyan is just. Always there. And cocoa hates them less. I’m guessing any baby teeth are in the carpet upstairs… I really should vacuum lol
I left the bathroom door open so the roomba would clean there too and Emerald is scared of it so I thought he flew back to his office where his cage is. He actually flew into the bathroom instead. I caught him in seconds before shredding another roll of TP.
@tinamarie1974@werehatrack possible… The 7 cat herd have 5 plug in heat pads/beds because I keep it cold in winter and I feel bad cause… Also helps some keeping them off my laptop. And they are on them a lot during the day.
I got 2 K&H beds which are kind of expensive now… $40-$50 but I’ve had the originals since 2015 and they were/are heavily used.
Then things got weird cause KitKat died and his bed never was used and the kittens took over upstairs and stole cocos so I had to get her a new one… Cause I felt bad… Then gave them his. Lol. Then I needed more.
My preference is still they come to bed but these days that means they come and go snuggling on the couch. I don’t think any of them have learned his trick or "oh it’s bed time follow you in scratch at the covers till you let them in, tolerate a dozen back in and outs then snuggle in for the night.
Yes that is some excessive sharing. If you’ve ever considered a heated bed because you might turn it down to 50 sometimes… I recommend K&H
@tinamarie1974@werehatrack I mean. It’s winter. I live alone but it’s a large house. I was raised by a dad. Who had a bimetal thermostat. You did not touch.
I turn on the fireplace after work cause I’m in the room and maybe turn up the furnace to 60 or 62. For a while then crank them down for the night. I can’t sleep when it’s hot. Get up go to work in the basement set the space heater under the desk for 10 hours…
If someone else lived here I might be willing to compromise and leave it at 60 while they were in the house…
Id have to be in love with a woman to put 70 on there on a daily basis. I could never sleep under covers like that… But I’ve been told I’m very warm so you know spooning with a heat sink should be an acceptable compromise.
Yes I can afford to heat v the whole house but still. Cats run hot. I like it cold. The beds have held up. They like to sleep in spots… I like it too not be on electrical equipment…
You could call them spoiled but a one time cost… Plus the gas bill probably paid for them by now.
@blaineg@tinamarie1974@werehatrack well… If there was a SWMBO or another person. I’m sure adjustments would be made. I just can’t see heating the whole empty house. I mean the area I’m in is usually over 50. Bedroom probably not but once you’re under the blankets…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not my cat up there but…
@Kidsandliz the mythical ‘updog’
@TheGreatNico Yes. I wonder if that photo was a setup or an actual OMG how did my dog get there photo. Either way I laughed when I saw it.
@Kidsandliz @TheGreatNico I mean I feal like someone helped him up. Cats on the other hand. Just show up places. I just heard the noise and tried to get a pic while processing “wtf are you doing”.

@cengland0 Awww!
@Kyeh I think his species is from Columbia so he likes coffee. I don’t allow him to drink it but he like to lick the bottom of my empty cup. He’s already hyper so the last thing I want to do is give him caffeine.
Here he is again licking my meh coffee cup.
@cengland0 He’s beautiful! I bet he’s smart too.
@cengland0 I would really try to discourage your bird having any access to coffee (even traces), as caffeine is toxic to them. https://birdsupplies.com/pages/poisonous-foods-for-parrots
@Doooood right.
@unksol d’Arty looks like a squirrel!
@Kyeh his tail is just permanently poofy. Vs KitKat who poofed up when he got excited. Come to think of it none of the new batch does that.
D’artantan just likes to get into shit
Toby likes my Meh bags
@Kyeh They are not cat proof for more reasons than what yours does. My cat who died last year liked to chew on them. She’d eventually shred them. At least she got her teeth brushed that way. LOL.
@Kidsandliz Yes, he likes to chew them too so I keep them hung up after he gnawed some holes into an orange one.
I have a pig.
Kind of weird to curl up and nap next to the food bowl.
@remo28 Is that a chinchilla?
@Kyeh no, Guinea pig. Chinchillas are more round in my experience. Now yes he’s a bit chunky, but still more potato shaped.
@remo28 Oh! Pretty cute, and kind of an unusual coat, isn’t it? I thought they tended to have shorter fur.
@Kyeh Google “Peruvian guinea pig” – they’re adorable! Actually, they’re all adorable, but these are the Pekingese of cavies.
@ircon96
I see what you mean! Kind of glamorous .
@Kyeh Right?? SO regal!
@ircon96 @Kyeh such a majestic looking wig
@ircon96 @Kyeh Fabulous.
Aidan dancing with my mom.
@PooltoyWolf
Two spectacular beings in that pic!
@f00l I really do have the best mom
@f00l @PooltoyWolf Is your mom especially petite, or is the dog especially big? In any case, yes, they’re both lovely!
@f00l @Kyeh
@f00l @PooltoyWolf
(Who is that little character?)
@f00l @Kyeh Apparently, he is from a commercial released some years ago by an Indian antivirus software company!
@f00l @PooltoyWolf Oh! So not someone everyone recognizes but me - I don’t play video games so I figured he was from one of them.
@f00l @Kyeh Nope haha, in fact I thought for the longest time he was from some Disney Junior TV show! LOL
@f00l @PooltoyWolf Oh, yeah, he does have that look about him!
There is a price to be paid when you let your bird run free rather than keep him in a cage where he belongs.
@Felton10
@Felton10 yup, same problem here.
@cengland0 @Felton10 Zappy bird?
@cengland0 @Felton10 Are you trying to make people without pets feel better about their petless status? Because you’ve convinced me that birds are more trouble than cats, even though they’re beautiful.

Chacun a son gout; I’m glad you’re happy but I’ll stick with cats!
@Kyeh
what you need is a robot vaccuum…
@cengland0 Walter is locked in the cage at night and when we leave the house. He is OK was new people even to the extent of getting on their hands even if I am in the next room. Probably figures if they are in the house, they are alright with me.

@chienfou yes. Although what I really need is one that will do couches, chairs, the bedspread, etc.
@cengland0 Birds like every other animal are products of their environment. Walter has never had a bad experience with humans hence very trusting.

@cengland0 flew back to “his office” not “the office”.
@unksol he owns the house and allows me to live here.
@cengland0 D’artanyan does wtf he wants but I can scruff him. Sometimes without a ladder.
This was his goal I guess a few days later. Why he was on the exhaust hoor.
@werehatrack
Where’s the cat?!?!?
@werehatrack cold?

@tinamarie1974
Grey Dude wasn’t cold, he just likes to burrow under things and peek ot the other side. He’s still young, not quite nine months.
@unksol @werehatrack wait, you keep your house at 50?!?
@tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
He thinks you can’t see him!!!
@tinamarie1974 @werehatrack I mean. It’s winter. I live alone but it’s a large house. I was raised by a dad. Who had a bimetal thermostat. You did not touch.

@tinamarie1974 @unksol @werehatrack 50? I’d have to chip SWMBO out of a block of ice. Icicles start to form below 72.
@unksol @werehatrack I like it cool in the house and when I sleep I drop it to between 62 and 65. I could not go as low as 50 though
@blaineg @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack well… If there was a SWMBO or another person. I’m sure adjustments would be made. I just can’t see heating the whole empty house. I mean the area I’m in is usually over 50. Bedroom probably not but once you’re under the blankets…

He was pouting because the cat attacked him after trying to play with her. She does NOT want to play. Ever.
@jnicholson0619 he is so cute!!!
I’m a bit late to the show, and I’ve posted these in the past, but…
Super Belle the Wonder Dog
And my little monster, Zoey
@ruouttaurmind I don’t think anyone ever objects to more pets. Or they wouldn’t be in here lol.
