PastaDrop is proud to sponsor Equal Heart
34PastaDrop is a pop-up store by Mercatalyst. We’re a small team, around 75 employees. Like everyone else, we’re adapting as best possible to our new environment. We feel fortunate, thus far. As we look for appropriate ways to contribute, we’ve prioritized essentials and launched a food category in some stores. In partnership with restaurant distributors, we’ve supplied over 30 tons of shelf-stable food.
Following up in this direction, we’ve designed PastaDrop.
For this project we’ve also selected a charity, Equal Heart
Mercatalyst is donating $10,000 and 5 tons of dry pasta to Equal Heart*
(*or a cash equivalence if favored by EH)
More on Equal Heart:
With a mission to support people in times of adversity, Equal Heart is a hunger focused nonprofit that has doubled their efforts to meet increased community demand during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Based in Dallas, Texas they provide ready to eat meals and bulk food deliveries to over 10,000 families in their host community; as well as providing nutritional support to another 40,000 families in 18 states through their network of partner organizations.
If you have any questions, please forward them to our support team
Thank you,
PastaDrop & the Mercatalyst team
P.S.: Equal Heart currently accepts donations from corporate sponsors. When you use PastaDrop, you’re supporting Equal Heart. There are of course many deserving local organizations across the country. Feel free to use this page to share your local food bank donation page.

Two very good, comprehensive ones around here:
The Good Samaritan

The Stewpot

They also serve daily hot dinners at the center and do meals on wheels.
One of my favorites from the Steel City is 412 FOOD RESCUE 412 diverts perfectly good, edible food from going into the landfill by connecting restaurants/grocers/food distributors with nonprofit organizations. Through their app, a network of volunteers facilitates the transaction. It’s a win-win because perfectly good food (and all the embodied energy in making it) is diverted from the landfill into the hands of those who are hungry.

Dear Mr. @snapster,
I hope you realize what you have been doing for all of our communities in setting up this website. Besides bringing us pasta, you have also given us an opportunity to give to those close to us and to those in need. Also, you’ve given us so much laughter, which is something I think we dearly need at this time.
I have given out pasta to friends, neighbors, retirees, people who have lost their jobs due to the Covid virus, the mail carriers, who have been lugging around all of this pasta, and finally to my mom’s beloved nursing home and their hard working caregivers.
Some people think I’m crazy when I start delivering pasta. (Those who already know me can confirm that it’s true.) But once they hear the story behind it, they are so amazed that someone thought of this, and that people have been giving so much to others.
Thank you so much.
Barney
We could always use assistance at the Community Health Action of Staten Island Food Pantry. We are seeing five times the amount of clients we normally see. An average Tuesday is 80 people, now our average Tuesday is 400 people. Our need is great and we would be so appreciative of any support. www.chasiny.org
