@mgarcia18 I totally agree. I was a little underwhelmed by the 808 (albeit they were damaged and defective.) The Able Planet were so impressive that I didn't hesitate two more when they came up again.
Says, "Microphone included in cord." I don't think so. First, it would have 4 metal conductors on the plug but there is only 3. And here's a photo of the cord -- I don't see a microphone.
The owners manual (pdf) shows a microphone on the left side but I still don't believe one is in the cord.
Wow, you guys really really exceeded my expectations! I'm going to have to take some time to think about my favorites and I'll announce them here tomorrow!
I've been messing with my 808 duo headphones lately. The main problem I've encountered with them is that they're too tight, and the driver smushes the cartilage on my ear. I really prefer either my Nakamichi NBT01 (the cups rotate on them) or Sony Gold (where the drivers are angled so there's room for the ear) even though they both have limitations. If I could find some like the Sony Playstation Gold headphones with longer battery life and bluetooth, those would be the perfect headphones. (Or like the Nakamichi's with a better microphone and fully over the ear.) As it is, looking at these the driver is flat and it'll probably have the same issue as the 808 Duo. :(
At $64, I'm not willing to throw the money out there just to try them. If I hadn't just bought the 808's, or if they hadn't eliminated overtime at my job, I might have jumped at them. (Also, I should be getting my Wearhaus Arc headphones in the next couple of weeks, so I should just be happy with having 2 sets of headphones to play with this month. I think I'm addicted to bluetooth headphones...)
@kazriko It's worth noting these are on ear headphones, but the 808's are over the ear. These would likely smash your cartilage even more. I prefer in ear headphones or over the ear headphones precisely because of this.
@cathasach That's what I was thinking exactly. The 808's try to be over the ear, but they're not big enough for my ears. The Sony's are the only ones I own now that succeed at the over the ear thing. I have weird cartilage though, it's flatter on the edges than in the middle. If the driver were far enough back, it might work. Maybe I'll grab some if they come up again later.
They're probably worth that much and all, but "*Dino-shark not included" is a deal breaker... Those headphones plus a Dino-shark maybe, but as it is, meh.
I was also stunned that delivery will be made in about 6 weeks. Is the headphones brand new in the retail box? I am doubting because why does it only have a 90-day warranty if it is really new?
@boygenius1991 I believe this is Meh trying to offer BT headphones to those who wanted them before they sold out a week or two ago. So you've only yourself to blame..and @narfcake. 010010010111010000100111011100110010000001101101011011110111001001100101001000000110110001101001011010110110010100100000011000010010000001110000011100100110111101100011011001010111001101110011001000000110100101101110011100110111010001100101011000010110010000100000011011110110011000100000011000010010000001100010011001010110110001101001011001010110011000101110
@boygenius1991 I seems that when they removed the walls of speaker docks they realized there were more walls made of headphones. Meh will no longer be known for speaker docks and neoprene, now they will be know for headphones (bad and good) and something to be determined soon?
@ParadisePete The picture has a play/pause symbol on the center button, so I am gonna guess YES. If I'm wrong blame @narfcake ... well actually if that ship date is correct blame the 2nd goat after @narfcake.
@ParadisePete you can always turn it into a hobby. 010101110110100001100101011011100010000001101001011011100010000001010010011011110110110101100101001011100010111000101110
I've been thinking about a pair of bluetooth headphones for months. Thank goodness that Woo^H^H^H Meh caught me at a moment of weakness and fatigue and put this right in front of me, just six clicks away from purchase.
Is there an extra 'it' missed by the copy editor on the third to last paragraph, when talking about the the Apple watch? Meh. Probably my cracked phone screen.
@midcontrast My thoughts exactly. The 808 bluetooth is great and I like the around the ear pads. If I didn't get those, I would definitely be in for this deal.
@midcontrast LOVE my 808s! I pulled the trigger on the $8 ones back in March and then upgraded to the $36 ones - found out my computer doesn't support bluetooth (doh!) so ended up ordering a dongle for it. Using the wired option for now, can't wait to go wireless!
@mellowirishgent Misunderstanding. I think he's referring to the 808 Duos. The first 808s were definitely on the ears but the later offering with the bluetooth is definitely around the ear. I bought both so I know.
Edit: As I was typing this, I just thought it would be cool if the company named these the 8008s so it looks like you're typing BOOBs each time.
@cengland0 Please forgive me then i was talking about the 808 duos ..thought if they go on your ears there on ears im going to look up the difference now from around ear and on ear ty for the info
@mellowirishgent Over-the-ear headphones are more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, because instead of having ear pads pressing directly on the outer ears, over-the-ears' pads surround the outer ear. On-ears' "clamping" against the ears' pressure tends to be higher, and they will probably make your ears hotter and sweatier than over-the-ear models. Of course, the specifics of each headphone's design come into play, but I almost always find over-the-ear models more comfortable.
@mellowirishgent I call then "around the ear" but most other people call them "over the ear" and since they usually don't actually touch the ear, they do not put any pressure on them and are more comfortable (to me anyway). The "on-the-ear" models physically put pressure on your ear and if you wear them for any length of time, your ears get sore.
So if you have big ears, there is a small possibility that an "over-the-ears" pad is not thick enough and could cause your ear to touch the speaker cover which is not as well padded. That is never a problem for me but I think I heard someone else complain about that.
In summary, the 808 duo is more comfortable than the regular 808.
@cengland0 This very much depends on the size and shape of one's ears. It's almost impossible for me to fit the Duos over my ears (and there's a little of the wicked stepsister contortion when I do), so the regular 808s are more comfortable for me, since they apply less pressure. But I seem to be figuring out the more comfortable configuration for the Duos.
So, yeah, we've purchased five total of two different kinds of BT speakers, three pair of the 808 corded, two pair of the Able Planets and I just recently picked up a pair of the 808 Duo. Not to mention the fact that we received two pair of earphones and a nice speaker dock via fuku/fuko. And, yes, they all work awesomely.
I think we're fixed for ways to listen for a while. I was in fact tempted, but the wife said no. Sigh. Someone tell me these suck and I won't feel as bad.
Meh, you cracked the code of not selling out before 1 PM... I'm impressed... with headphones even. Could be the price tag. I kind of liked the 808's and wish I had purchased a 2nd pair.... :)
@ACraigL@KevinTJ you both have a pair of these very bluetooth headphones on the way soon! You can even track them from https://meh.com/orders. Great job!
FedEx has brought mine to my fair town, and then decided to hand them off to the USPS for the last mile of delivery. So I assume I'll have them by July.
@ACraigL My "SurePost" tracking from FedEx said it would be here tomorrow, even when it was out for delivery today. For some reason UnSure Post (MaybePost?) can track that the item is on a delivery vehicle out for delivery but it still can't figure out that it will be delivered that day.
Mine arrived yesterday. Sitting here at work and I'm not sure what I think. They are relatively comfy and the controls are very nice, but the audio sounds off. Like there is an EQ in affect or something. I will have to try them wired in to see if the issue is the bluetooth quality.
Just got mine (thanks again @JonT and Meh.) yesterday and listening to them I write this. Pretty great! Happy with the sound and fit. Insta-pairing with NFC was fun too. If I had to complain about something (this is Meh, after all) I would say there is too little padding on the headband -- basically I'm aware it's on the top of my head and I can imagine this might become annoying after extended listening periods.
But that's a minor gripe. Very pleased overall. Thanks again!
For anyone that got these and are in need of a case, I just picked this one up, http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TBELD02 and it fits perfectly. The only design flaw is with the mesh pocket -- it doesn't close, so things slide out, and it's opposite the cans so it becomes an uncomfortable squeeze when closed. But that's nothing a small accessory bag and other placement can't correct. Thought I'd pass it along.

I want it but budget is tight, good deal though
Thanks Meh...I've finally beat my headphone addiction. The last set of 808s were "damaged and defective" I finally have the willpower to say, "Meh."
@densa I gave the 808's to my 14 year old who breaks earbuds more often than I change socks and he loves them and he hasn't broken them yet.
@densa The Able Planet headphone is actually pretty awesome compared to the 808. The mic and audio quality is good.
@mgarcia18 I totally agree. I was a little underwhelmed by the 808 (albeit they were damaged and defective.) The Able Planet were so impressive that I didn't hesitate two more when they came up again.
I'm sure they're great and all, but I want the bitchin' sharkosaur!
I'm surprised the writeup didn't mention last month's deal on those Beats headphones or earbuds or whatever they were.
Says, "Microphone included in cord." I don't think so. First, it would have 4 metal conductors on the plug but there is only 3. And here's a photo of the cord -- I don't see a microphone.
The owners manual (pdf) shows a microphone on the left side but I still don't believe one is in the cord.
@cengland0 Yep! Thanks for that correction. Mic is built into the earpiece, not the cord.
Um, the guy wearing the headphones is really good-looking.... Tempted to buy just for that.

@JonT It's past tomorrow, which should have been Tuesday and it's now Wednesday.
The thought crossed my mine but then I saw this... really? 6 weeks away? I gets stuff from China in shorter time....
Estimated Delivery: 7/4 - 7/8
@ObliteRon Woah is that even correct? I was going to buy these for a gift but I'd need them within a couple of weeks. Wazzup, meh?
@ObliteRon @tsfisch thanks for the heads up, fixed!
@JonT I see. Now I can't let you make a liar out of me so here, take my money.

@kazriko Agreed, $64 is a bit much to take a flyer on with these headphones, though they are probably decent and I hate Beats worship!
@kazriko It's worth noting these are on ear headphones, but the 808's are over the ear. These would likely smash your cartilage even more. I prefer in ear headphones or over the ear headphones precisely because of this.
@robson Yeah, I imagine they'd be in the running for one of the better sets of headphones I'd own, but it's just a bit much for me this week.
@cathasach That's what I was thinking exactly. The 808's try to be over the ear, but they're not big enough for my ears. The Sony's are the only ones I own now that succeed at the over the ear thing. I might have gotten these, but six weeks for delivery? Sorry, not gonna happen.
These don't appear to be baby arm compatible, so I'm out.
Bring me a decent over-the-ear set and you may not fall to my mighty Meh.
Do these have the ability to pause whatever is playing on the phone? My current bluetooth headphones do and it's a must-have feature for me.

@thismyusername Oh yeah, I see that now. I had to squint a bit, even in the larger image. Thanks!

@one_two3456 Wow! Just wow.
I've been thinking about a pair of bluetooth headphones for months. Thank goodness that Woo^H^H^H Meh caught me at a moment of weakness and fatigue and put this right in front of me, just six clicks away from purchase.
My 808s are bitcchin and im lovin them so im going to pass on the July delivery of these why sell something that havent even been made yet?
@mellowirishgent estimated delivery has been updated, should have been June (which is coming up soon).
Is there an extra 'it' missed by the copy editor on the third to last paragraph, when talking about the the Apple watch? Meh. Probably my cracked phone screen.
@PilotJim man, if we had a copy editor they would be so embarrassed right now.
ouuh, I bet these will make my extensive collection of Thompson Twins and A-Ha sound like new again. In for a pair, bitches.
Just got my 808s and I'm diggin them. Otherwise this might of been more tempting
@midcontrast My thoughts exactly. The 808 bluetooth is great and I like the around the ear pads. If I didn't get those, I would definitely be in for this deal.
@midcontrast Me also
@midcontrast LOVE my 808s! I pulled the trigger on the $8 ones back in March and then upgraded to the $36 ones - found out my computer doesn't support bluetooth (doh!) so ended up ordering a dongle for it. Using the wired option for now, can't wait to go wireless!
Can anyone out there explain what may be the difference between the duo 808s and these headphones besides the playtime ?
@mellowirishgent The 808s are around the ear and these headphones are on the ear.
@cengland0 NO THE 808S ARE ON THE EARS I OWN THEM SO I KNOW
@mellowirishgent Misunderstanding.
@mellowirishgent ok so the 808 duos are around ear and therefore less comfortable got it lol
@joelmw Now this is funny. I just left for the gym and this is the truck that was in front of me on the way there.
Something really wants me to recommend those.
@cengland0 And as they get older and succumb to gravity they could write them as 8UU8
So, yeah, we've purchased five total of two different kinds of BT speakers, three pair of the 808 corded, two pair of the Able Planets and I just recently picked up a pair of the 808 Duo.
