@KDemo Thanks for finding it, but that guy has 3 other articles on that site & they're not speaker reviews. I have no idea about this deal, it sounds like an ungodly deal, but I can't find any legit reviews.
@aggie11 I saw someone on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/paloaltoaudio comment on how it "Took a little bit longer (like 3-4 minutes) to figure out how to set the alarm, setting the clock was easy since it sync with the iPhone automatically,"
"3.5" woofer" I haven't heard these but my guess is that it won't give you the same low end as my Onkyo 12" powered sub woofer I bought for $80 about 10 years ago.
@axleman1011 Today's Tome is a Korean style! South Korea's global designer Kim, young se found in person by Mr. Eno design allows these loudspeakers have been designed appearance. @snapster after reviewing the pictures on the Palo Alto website, I believe the 13 x 8 x 7 Meh purports is likely accurate. That said it kind of resembles a boom box from the 1980s.
Been looking for a good bluetooth speaker for a while, but didn't want to get something crappy at the $80 price point. This one looks like a dream at $90. I'm in!
So, I have a big house and the previous owner took all the speakers with him. Can I buy a bunch of these and put them around? If I send sound to one will it come out of all of them, or can I be selective? If I cancel my credit card after meh ships, will they come after me?
@YoDad From what I can tell you'll have to connect to each speaker individually as you use it. I'm also going to guess that the bluetooth ID will be the same (or very close) for each speaker so that could turn into a pain very quickly. These just aren't meant to be used that way. You'll probably have to spend a bit more and get something like a set of Sonos.
Is there a way to review your previous orders? I ordered the knives a few days ago and wanted to check on shipping. No email in my inbox, and I can't find a 'previous orders' page. Thanks.
I'm no sound engineer but, normally when "Frequency" is displayed in specs by itself for speakers, it refers to the frequency response range capability. It would be nice to see the claimed Frequency Response of this speaker.
In this case "192kHz" appears to refer to some kind of magical processor inside this speaker that bumps up what ever quality of music you feed it to simulated 24bit depth music, sampled at a rate of 192kHz. That would indeed be magical.
yep agree phronemo, with so many connections it does indicate they thought it out, I also thought about it all day but have the new bose $149 model, no bluetooth, only lightning plug, and dont find the sound or functionality that great and it is going back, I hope this sounds excellent, with their backgrounds and the original proice it cant be BAD, can it?
what device would only have an earphone jack? now it is all bluetooth and usb. ?? I think - hope the rationale is that the earphone jacks are iffy at best anyway.
For those of you that meh'd this baby you obviously have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.....wonderful room filling sound.....discovered by all my Apples and the remote interacts with my pad/pod just ducky.....should you or your smarter sibling ever have an opportunity to buy one or more or these....just do it.
Tried it and wish I had not. OK at the $95 but NOT a $200+ machine. My UE boom sounds significantly better even though it does not have the base. Base is muffled, high frequencies are not crisp. The quality of the base speaker does not appear good. Clock OK. Good options for connectivity. Over all fair but not a bargain.
@kinmarb Mine arrived yesterday, but I haven't had a chance yet to try it. Maybe the speakers need to break in? I got a pair of Bose headphones for Xmas a few years back, not my choice obviously, and they sounded like absolute dogpoop when I first opened them. But after a few hours of use they sounded much much better, not great, being Bose, but much better than out of the box.
Sounded better than I thought it would, but overall a "meh--" rating. I have a jawbone big jambox and an oldschool sony alarm clock on my mantle so I had hoped to consolidate the two with this device.
Pros: Looks pretty stylish, clock is bright, but its a little taller than one wouldve like (atleast for mantle/bedside use). Sounds ok, slightly better than big jambox for some songs but worse for others.
Cons: Bluetooth is very kludgy, esp compared to the big jambox which lets you pair upto two devices (iphone and ipad for eg...hitting play on one mutes the other stream). This speaker only lets you pair one at a time, and the pairing drops off after a few mins of stoppage (whereas the jambox retained the pairing even when in sleep mode). For that reason, I ve found using this to be rather irritating and painful.
Wanted to write a separate rant about the remote - it was the tiny shitty remote that most devices seem to come with nowadays (made in china, uses a button cell and has as much design input as any other low cost electronic product from china). That immediately let me know that "Palo Alto Audio" is nothing more than a product of marketing. Avoid if you ask me.
PS- they arent even located in Palo Alto, they just have a freakin mailbox there. That is the biggest red flag :)
My Rhombus arrived today. Here are my initial impressions:
Connectivity A. USB i. Worked great with Samsung Galaxy s4, but only with the data/power cable provided. ii. Did not work at all with the Samsung Galaxy s5. The s5 displayed an error that it was an unauthorized charger. iii. I don't have an iPhone to test. B. Optical - seems to work fine so far with the optical audio cable. C. Bluetooth - easy to connect. zandorrr' comments (above) are more useful since my only experience with connecting via bluetooth is my car stereo. D. Aux - plays as expected as long as you have a 3.5 mm cable.
Sound - I'm quite happy with it. Definitely worth the $95. Not so much, if I had paid $200+
Clock - truly "meh". Since it doesn't allow for battery backup, if the power ever goes out, it turns into a 12 o'clock flasher. I think it would have been better without the clock.
Since my order number was organized-euphoric-cereal, I give it 8 Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs out of 10.
I got one with a blown subwoofer....rattles badly at 50% volume. I'm glad some people said that they received one that sounded good, as I was concerned all might rattle like this (hard to imagine, but the lack of reviews out there is quite strange). Hopefully Palo Alto will get me a replacement easily.
By the way, the clock set itself automatically when I plugged in my iPhone 5s, which was a nice feature.
@BreathTaker They do take a minute to get it translated. But right now, they are a bit behind in emails and it's the weekend. Give them till Monday or Tuesday to get back to you.
I got mine and I'm happy with it. I tested it with USB and Bluetooth so far, good solid sound for the little-ish (bigger than I thought though) size. The best part is the impressive low end thanks to the down firing sub. It is going to function great as a bedroom sized soundbar, utilizing the optical input. Plus the bluetooth and usb means phones can play off it wireless or while charging.
I compared the sound to the ridiculously flashy early 00's oversized "mini" system it's replacing and it puts out easily 90% of the power at less that 1/4 the size. Very happy I took the gamble. I'll be getting a iPhone 6+ here in a month or so and will update once I test it out.
As others have stated, sound is ok for $90 but not $200+. Bass is shit in my opinion when volume turned up 75%. Clock syncing with iPhone is nice feature. Not surprised these things didn't sell anywhere at the normally high price point.
It's been around two weeks since I am using mine and sound definitely got better with usage. Bass was not so good in the starting but got better with time (or maybe I got used to sound signature). I am using iPhone 5 and it sound best when plugged in via charger cable, sound worst with bluetooth. It got lots of connectivity option, haven't got chance to try optical connection. Only thing it's missing imo is wi-fi playing connectivity. Totally worth $95
This has been a very disappointing purchase. My unit arrived with a severe rattle between 50 and 125 Hz. Really bad. I reported the problem right away, via email. A rep named Holly got back to me and suggested I contact Palo Alto myself, and pointed me to a web page. Not the kind of service I was hoping for... but I gave it a shot. I waited two weeks, but Palo Alto never got back to me, so I contacted Meh/Mediocre again. Rep Marcus said he would contact Palo Alto for me. It's been another two weeks. Still nothing. At this point I can't recommend either Meh or Palo Alto. And the rattling Rhombus ain't worth a thing.

Wow, nice price but nearly no reviews at first glance.
@Stallion -Here's one, (but I'm not familiar with the source). http://www.namkour.com/rhombus-paad-bluetooth-speakers-a-review/
@KDemo Thanks for finding it, but that guy has 3 other articles on that site & they're not speaker reviews. I have no idea about this deal, it sounds like an ungodly deal, but I can't find any legit reviews.
Meh. Speaker.
I could buy a lot of speaker docks for phones I don't own for this.
@jsh139
First meh.
I'm going to sleep on this one and think it over.
This thing looks like it's looking at me.
And I'm saying "Nope."
I think I speak for everyone... Meh.
Oh crap, I know I'm going to be blamed for this one.
@cengland0 Pre-research it looks like a pretty great speaker. Guess you can be blamed for good stuff, too.
@KDemo it's not even speaker dock Friday.
@cengland0 - Well, you know who to blame.
@cengland0 Blamed
Speaker Dockless Monday.
Two 3.5" full range drivers... yeah no thanks.
@cjrhoades actually that should read 3.5" sub and two 2" full range - the sub is mounted to fire downwards. (cc @moose)
@snapster oh, I actually read the Amazon description. That's even more awful then.
Tempted, but can it be used as an alarm clock?
Turns out it can be used as an alarm clock
@shuutr Can we get a source for this info? If confirmed I'm buying it.
@aggie11 I saw someone on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/paloaltoaudio comment on how it "Took a little bit longer (like 3-4 minutes) to figure out how to set the alarm, setting the clock was easy since it sync with the iPhone automatically,"
i need an alarm clock
@ninkorn Indeed. In for two
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
@jrwofuga No purple either. Meh.
@jrwofuga no Gator orange/Blue, either
@jrwofuga Barney loves purple.
I love purple.
@jrwofuga seriously, is there a reason meh won't include "spray paint in your choice of colors"?
@Marcos_El_Malo poor marketing strategy. Obvi.
Daaaamn I really like this.
"3.5" woofer" I haven't heard these but my guess is that it won't give you the same low end as my Onkyo 12" powered sub woofer I bought for $80 about 10 years ago.
@Kyser_Soze but does your Onkyo 12" dock?
HAHAHAHAHHHAhahaha speaker dock
Speakers, speakers, speakers. Always speakers. Would it be so hard to sell us some nice headphones once in a while?
@Durago Or merely average earphones, I'd settle for some of those.
@Durago Just get a really long extension cord or stick a generator in a backpack
@Moose And carry a purse?
@Cinoclav If it'll hold a generator, sure
This doesn't fit with my brain's representation of a rhombus.
Its a slightly convex spherical rhomboid.
Doesn't come with Sharpie. I'm out.
@phatmass don't tempt us.
First Meh purchase, I need a speaker. So I'm looking forward to what it can do.
What's up with the Korean at the bottom? What does it say?

stop selling me shitty speakers
I want it, I want it. I think I want it. I'll sleep on it. But really think I want it. Should I shouldn't I ? Best sleep on it. Zzzzz............
http://www.paloaltoaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Rhombus_manual.pdf
Here's the manual. Says compatible with iphone 5. Not sure if that means its 6, 6 plus, ipad air compatible.
(And yes, you can set the time and use it as an alarm clock.)
@gs4 You answered my question seconds before I submitted it.
@gs4 most folks will use it bluetooth but the USB connector option should also be compatible with android and all i-stuffs
Has anyone found the dimensions of this thing?
On overstock it says 22x15x11, that's pretty big, are those correct?
@Achromatter that's gotta be the outer box? By memory I'd say maybe 16x6x5?
@Achromatter The speaker itself is 13 x 8 x 7.
....meanwhile, on amazon it says 14.4x10.2x2.9", which is it?
@Achromatter so that's thinner and taller than it is - @moose can you help measure
@snapster after reviewing the pictures on the Palo Alto website, I believe the 13 x 8 x 7 Meh purports is likely accurate. That said it kind of resembles a boom box from the 1980s.
@djderic Measured it myself! I'm really not sure where these dimensions from other websites are coming from.
@Moose Most likely one of those song lyric sites.
Dang, I want it, but I really don't want to spend $90 right now... :/ Also gonna sleep on it I guess.
@Al_Coholic That would be horribly uncomfortable, what with the pointy edges and all.
@Cinoclav Hmm, I was afraid of that. I guess I won't be buying it then... Not much point if you can't even sleep on the thing.

Besides being a bluetooth speaker dock, will this also work as a soundbar in place of the crappy TV speakers if I use the optical input?
@2many2no If your tv has optical output, I think yes.
@halnwheels Oops! Crappy TV only has digital coaxial out, no optical. Meh!
@2many2no You just need to get a digital coax to optical converter with nitrogen intercooler. It'll be offered next week.
Been looking for a good bluetooth speaker for a while, but didn't want to get something crappy at the $80 price point. This one looks like a dream at $90. I'm in!
이노디자인 김영세아저씨 작품이라니..일단 디자인 자체는 참 깔끔하고 나쁘지 않네요...^^
is it support dac? or just music files in usb?
@YongChul it supports DAC @ 24 bit
@snapster you mean it has dac inside, right?
@YongChul yes dac inside
@YongChul yes dac inside
실제 사용기를 보고 싶은데 찾을수가 없어..
@MyungChang_Kim 그러게요.. ㅠㅠ
Oh man it looks soooooo nice. It's just outside of my self-imposed spending limit, though. :(
Another speaker dock... meh
@futaira Not a dock, you have to connect by cable or Bluetooth. Of course, a little duct tape and you've hacked together a dock!
Waitin for the comments from the real user!
Meh comes with really unique goods today.
It seems there is no way to shape the sound---no tone, treble, bass, or equalizer controls.
@robinjanski tone is controlled by the sending unit.....amp...iPad...etc.
@havasuflash Good point for many sending units. I was thinking of using it with a TV that does not offer that capability.

@YoDad These will not network. You can only play music from one at a time.
@RedHot How do I pick which one will play?
@YoDad From what I can tell you'll have to connect to each speaker individually as you use it. I'm also going to guess that the bluetooth ID will be the same (or very close) for each speaker so that could turn into a pain very quickly. These just aren't meant to be used that way. @YoDad You need Sonos speakers. www.sonos.com
Woot had this for $149.00 several times. Still no reviews, but the price is getting better. If I could find a couple of reviews I would jump on this.
http://www.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=6014819
I wish I had a need for this. This isn't a dock, but would blow away all those previous docks that have been on here. Great deal.
Oh boy, I hope I don't end up regretting this.
One thing is for sure: I will post a review, somewhere, anywhere, about this thing.
Is there a way to review your previous orders? I ordered the knives a few days ago and wanted to check on shipping. No email in my inbox, and I can't find a 'previous orders' page. Thanks.
@tranadra Derp, found it. "My Orders" at the bottom of the page.
From the above specs: "Frequency: 192 kHz"
I'm no sound engineer but, normally when "Frequency" is displayed in specs by itself for speakers, it refers to the frequency response range capability. It would be nice to see the claimed Frequency Response of this speaker.
In this case "192kHz" appears to refer to some kind of magical processor inside this speaker that bumps up what ever quality of music you feed it to simulated 24bit depth music, sampled at a rate of 192kHz. That would indeed be magical.
Perhaps Mr. Amar BOSE can illuminate.
thunk *thunk* How do I dock my iPod? I don't see a port....thunk *thunk*
@wishlish
@darksaber99999 use the USB port.
No real reviews around,
Cannot take a risk.
So many input options... standard 3.5mm, optical, usb and bluetooth! Spent all day deliberating, had to do it... fingers crossed.
yep agree phronemo, with so many connections it does indicate they thought it out, I also thought about it all day but have the new bose $149 model, no bluetooth, only lightning plug, and dont find the sound or functionality that great and it is going back, I hope this sounds excellent, with their backgrounds and the original proice it cant be BAD, can it?
No 3.5mm input = meh
@snooze it does have a 3.5 input, it was listed in the manual posted further up
I'll be interested to compare the sound to my Big Jambox.
what device would only have an earphone jack? now it is all bluetooth and usb. ?? I think - hope the rationale is that the earphone jacks are iffy at best anyway.
very good^^
I took the risk. Hoping that it sounds as good as it's described.
@ronnyd.. sounds better......especially synced with my Mac
@havasuflash I've seen this stated in a few different places now. Why would it sound better from a mac as opposed to any other source?
@ronnyd.. not sure....lots of opinions on google but what do they know
I had to say "yes". I'll post here with my findings.
I'm so excited about this one. I can't wait to hear it.

My Rhombus arrived today. Here are my initial impressions:
Connectivity
A. USB

@gdawson6 Give us a shout if you have any trouble.
@gdawson6 I have this rattling problem, too. How can i fix this, meh?
@BreathTaker I ended up sending it back, as it definitely shouldn't rattle like that. Seems a few of them do this but not most of them.
@gdawson6 Good for u. But I live in South Korea. So I just keep waiting meh's answer.
@BreathTaker You should email halp@meh.com to get an answer from customer support.
@Thumperchick I emailed but there is no answer yet. Maybe I should have sent the email in English.
@BreathTaker They do take a minute to get it translated. But right now, they are a bit behind in emails and it's the weekend. Give them till Monday or Tuesday to get back to you.
@Thumperchick OK. I'll wait. Thanks for your prompt feedback.

Mine arrived broken :(
When I plug it in, all the mode lights are lit, but nothing else. No clock, No audio, No nothing. None of the buttons do anything.
Either I'm completely daft or it's completely broken.
As others have stated, sound is ok for $90 but not $200+. Bass is shit in my opinion when volume turned up 75%. Clock syncing with iPhone is nice feature. Not surprised these things didn't sell anywhere at the normally high price point.
