@yakkoTDI And is it 12 ga? 10 ga? Does it need a choked barrel to deliver a decent pattern? That lump on the side looks like it would interfere with loading, does it shed?
Yes, now you as well can be one of those annoying people who runs around in public with a speaker clipped to a strap or bike, playing music out loud! Wow!
3 watt speaker… not watt I am looking for. If I want to ride a bike and listen to music, then turn the whole damn thing into a speaker. Make my seat a subwoofer and send me to the moon. This speaker is MEH!!!
@gator3853 that’s probably incorrect for this particular item; however, bluetooth technology with a range of up to 60m has been available for over a decade, and current versions of BT5 can go to 400m. It is used for industrial applications, as it is generally too power-hungry and energy-emissive for most consumer applications.
@Perfect_Timing Actually they used a scaled down 3d model of the speaker for that shot, Tom is just 6 inches tall. They do a lot of complicated camera shots for his movies!
@FightingMongoos@phendrick I haven’t flown for a long time but recently when I did, I was glad the attendant/stewardess/whatever-we-call-them now told the lady next to me she couldn’t be watching videos on her phone without headphones. Because she was.
@hchavers they always fall out for me. My ears must be built wrong. With the wired ones at least it’s still hanging there. The wireless ones — “must have been about 100 yards back and in the bushes by the trail somewhere.”
@hchavers it’s a safety thing; if you have headphones in you can’t hear stuff around you as well and are more likely to hit somebody or get hit. Tons of people who use things like this end up making it so loud they probably are nullifying 90% of that change, but still
@hchavers I have Bose stereo sunglasses that do a great job with sound, they aren’t to loud externally, you can hear your surroundings, and the lenses are replaceable.
Aside from the issue of annoying other people on a trail (like loose dogs — don’t get me started), wouldn’t you want a bike helmet? And that means some kind of earphone system inside the helmet? I know they have them for motorcycle helmets but those are heavier.
I’ve never worn a bike helmet that covered my ears. There should be no problem for people to find headphones that work and don’t generate noise pollution for those around them.
It’s self centered and rude to blast music in public spaces.
@ItalianScallion Grazie.
So what did you do better than I to please the AI bot? I refreshed 4 or 5 times and still niente. Our / commands look to be identical.
@lichen@pmarin In many states, it is illegal to “operate a vehicle on the public right-of-way” (or equivalent terminology) while wearing headphones. This is enforced against people on bikes even more than drivers of four-ton SUVs “in the name of safety”. They have a point; earbuds or any other kind of headphone will make it more difficult to hear the approach of the four-ton SUV whose driver’s cell phone conversation has them completely distracted.
@pmarin@werehatrack even with headphones I can hear better than in a car. How is having a speaker blaring at you any different? Or the ridiculous radio systems in some people’s cars?
@ItalianScallion@lichen Am member, Very Mediocre (in fact, more than most) Person, past Goat, as my badge indicates.
Usually /showme command works for me, but sometimes hiccups.
@lichen It does not matter that the cyclist’s safety is at greater hazard from the cagers’ driving around in a soundproof booth, it only matters to the bike-hating cops that as the law is written, they have an excuse to harass the bikers over the fact that earbuds decrease what the cyclist can hear relative to their having no earbuds in place. They want the cyclists to know that they are about to get flattened. Terror is the point, not safety, which is why very few tickets are written (around here) for driving with a cell phone glued to the driver’s ear.
@icerc If it was USB-C, then our favorite superhero, USB Man, would be that much closer to being out of a job. You wouldn’t want that to happen, would you?
This is a quality speaker. I’ve had two over the years, mostly used for listening to music on bike rides on rural roads. Good max volume I can hear over the wind at 15-20 mph and great battery life.

So what size buckshot is it loaded with?
@yakkoTDI And is it 12 ga? 10 ga? Does it need a choked barrel to deliver a decent pattern? That lump on the side looks like it would interfere with loading, does it shed?
@werehatrack @yakkoTDI I need a choked barrel to deliver a decent pattern.
@teh_chris @werehatrack @yakkoTDI all I know is this is too big for my chamber regardless of the choke
Also looks like it wouldn’t make it far
@werehatrack @yakkoTDI The URL to the product write-up clearly says:

@EvilSmoo Exactly!
@EvilSmoo wait… I am annoying people? Yahtzee!
@EvilSmoo @jnerdy Nah - what could be annoying about sharing your rad tunes with everyone near you? Selfless, I say!
Bluetooth killed the audio dock
@werehatrack many won’t get that reference. I liked it.
You missed out on an opportunity to reference Buckshot Roulette in the gag image.

Bluetooth up to 60 feet?
@gator3853 difficulty in metric conversion from 10m? Or a super-powered Bluetooth we don’t know about?
@gator3853 that’s probably incorrect for this particular item; however, bluetooth technology with a range of up to 60m has been available for over a decade, and current versions of BT5 can go to 400m. Yes, Tom Cruise is a small man… but I don’t think he’s that tiny
@Perfect_Timing Actually they used a scaled down 3d model of the speaker for that shot, Tom is just 6 inches tall. They do a lot of complicated camera shots for his movies!
@EvilSmoo @Perfect_Timing there’s a failed joke about a pianist in here somewhere.
Plz don’t strap a speaker to your bike and disturb the peace everywhere you go
@FightingMongoos … unless it’s music i like.
@FightingMongoos @phendrick I haven’t flown for a long time but recently when I did, I was glad the attendant/stewardess/whatever-we-call-them now told the lady next to me she couldn’t be watching videos on her phone without headphones. Because she was.
@FightingMongoos @phendrick
The problem is that people who insist on forcing their music onto others never have good taste.
@FightingMongoos @lichen @phendrick You just need to be more selective about where you bite them.
Isn’t that what ear pods are for?
@hchavers they always fall out for me. My ears must be built wrong. With the wired ones at least it’s still hanging there. The wireless ones — “must have been about 100 yards back and in the bushes by the trail somewhere.”
@hchavers @pmarin
Get some headphones then?
@hchavers it’s a safety thing; if you have headphones in you can’t hear stuff around you as well and are more likely to hit somebody or get hit. Tons of people who use things like this end up making it so loud they probably are nullifying 90% of that change, but still

/showme someone walking with ghetto blaster on their shoulder playing loud music
@phendrick I’ll give it a try for you…

Get the bone conductor headphone then.

Micro USB??? You are being sneaky meh!
@icerc Giving the people what they want.
@icerc @yakkoTDI Yes! I want to have a 50/50 chance of plugging the cord in upside down!
@icerc If it was USB-C, then our favorite superhero, USB Man, would be that much closer to being out of a job. You wouldn’t want that to happen, would you?
I bet you could annoy so many people on a train in Japan with this. You will be the next nuisance streamer star.

I knew T. Cruze was a little guy, but he makes that speaker look YUGE!
It’s named “buckshot” because that’s what people want to fill it with when they hear it on the trails.
Buckshot is the only prompt “AI” deserves.
@DrunkCat That was pretty lame. You should really put more effort into winning them back.
