@RiotDemon 2-3 theater movies could potentially eat up enough budget that some folks couldn’t make rent and would have to live “in a van down by the river.”
Rich, egotistical actors handing each other awards and pontificating as though they know better than us (when they just have more access to microphones). Yeah, I need to spend several hours of my life watching THAT.
I find it somewhat interesting that so many here equate “academy awards” with “academy awards ceremonies”. (not wrong, just interesting)
On a scale of 1 to 100, I have zero interest in watching the ceremonies, but I would say it is 40 or so for the actual nominations (I certainly took the time to review them). For example, I have seen about half the best picture nominees and seeing the nominations might pique my interest for a few others. I had never even heard of “Parasite”, but now might be enticed to watching it.
@DrWorm I saw Parasite. I recommend it. The Regal theater by me brings back best picture nominees this time of year. Hopefully I can see some of the ones I missed. It’s kind of cool to look at the nominees and winners if you’ve seen the movies.

@awk I just love that pig. Awk is also a good command so is ramen
People are upset about the lack of nomination for Uncut Gems
@thekenya You must be one of those people then. I’m so sorry for your loss.
@therealjrn no, not me. I haven’t seen it yet so I can’t be angry
@thekenya You sound upset. Are you sure you’re not upset?
@thekenya @therealjrn it’s a helluva movie. Could’ve used more Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, but still a fine piece of work.
KuoH
@thekenya @therealjrn @UncleVinny I saw it. Didn’t like it.
Is Ricky Gervais hosting? Otherwise, Meh.
@hchavers we need an unfiltered Ricky to host everything Hollywood!
I’d really like to see Ricky host the Washington press Corp ball with the Prez.
I read this as oscar’s mom and I was like, who cares?

Tho I may watch the broadcast just for fun.
Could. Not. Care. Less.
@rebeltaz I could care less … but not that much less.
meh actually thinks people who shop here will skip a month’s rent to see a movie in the theater? Pfft.
@tweezak where do you live that your rent is between $6 and $20 a month?

@RiotDemon Today is 7 buck Tuesday- taking my daughter to a movie. Plus a bucket of popcorn is about $4.50. We ate it all and refilled it last week.

Eddie Murphy was ripped off.
