Only in Florida!
10Seen in the Walmart parking lot near where I-10 and the FL turnpike come together. And there are big dogs in an open kennel under all that mess in the back as well. Tried to catch a photo of one of them sticking his head out but he’d retreat every time I tried so I gave up. Bought the man driving that rig a bag of ice.

There’s not a damn thing on that truck that anyone wants. Why in the hell would you tie so much trash to your vehicle? Is it for the awe factor?
@capguncowboy It may not be something others want, but it is what he owns; it is valuable to him and he doesn’t consider any of it trash.
Poor dogs.
@medz That was my thought. This person is demonstrably mentally ill and can’t properly take care of themselves, much less animals.
However, I respect their right to be batshit crazy and live in trash–but those dogs didn’t get a choice.
Did you call 911 to try to get the dogs some help? The police will come out in situations like this.
@Barney Um. In FL, police may have different priorities.
@OldCatLady If the police could not come out, 911 could have dispatched animal control or told @Kidsandliz who to call to get help. A bag of ice won’t help those dogs for very long.
@Barney @Kidsandliz @OldCatLady Our city recently passed a law making it illegal to tie dogs out. They announced they would be patrolling over the weekend because of the heat. The SPCA has a lot of new dogs today- a lot of them are pit bulls.
@Kidsandliz @OldCatLady @sammydog01 We have that same law, but it’s not really enforced unless it’s needed for seizing a dog for animal cruelty. (And, yes, that includes leaving a dog tied out in the heat or cold.)
Our police will come out to parked cars with dogs locked up in them. Also, if an individual breaks a car window trying to get a dog out of a heated car, that person will not be charged for the damages.
@Barney I didn’t call anyone as the dogs were free to leave the truck (kennel wasn’t shut) if they wanted (so weren’t stuck under all that in the heat) and looked well fed, sleek, glossy coats… so clearly he cares about his animals and takes care of them. Man said he was retired so money coming at least. Talking to him he seemed reasonably sane. Who knows why he choses to live like that. He said he likes to travel. I can’t imagine going down the highway in that rig. Be like Hansel and Gretel only instead of breadcrumbs it would be stuffed animals and junk.
Bag of ice was for his cooler.
@Kidsandliz Right.
@Barney What do you mean right? That you don’t believe him or? I have no idea what the true story is. I was just passing by getting gas and ice for my own cooler and gave him some while I was at it. Dogs looked healthy and well fed. He looked old enough to be retired. No idea if he had the bed of the truck tunneled out for more than the dogs and their kennel to sleep back there. No idea why he had all that useless crap piled on the truck. I didn’t ask.
There are weird people all over the place, wish I had had a camera about 7 or 8 years ago when (In MS) there was a bizarre group of people who piled out of a car full of stuffed alligators, alligator heads fastened on the hood, bumpers, on the front dash, behind the seats. They were dressed really oddly as well. It was another stop and discretely stare situation.
@Barney @Kidsandliz If it were more recent, I’d suspect the gator thing had to do with GISH(WHES) cause lots of crazy stuff goes on during that week.
Keeps your eyes open, this year’s hunt starts in 5 days
@Barney @Kidsandliz
It is certain
Ask again later

/8ball Do strange things happen in Florida?
/8ball Does one ask?
/giphy Florida man.
@Barney @Kidsandliz @llangley GISH(WHES)! I’ve been wanting to enter but we can’t right now. Maybe next year? But I know the one I see has nothing to do with GISH.
@Barney @Kidsandliz @llangley And it has nothing to do with the fact Misha Collins carbonates my hormones: I just want to spread good in the world. I swear!
@Barney @Kidsandliz Modern day Gypsies.
@Barney @lseeber Nothing but tramps and thieves.
@Barney @therealjrn But every night all the men would come around and lay their money down.
@Barney @lseeber
Precisely.
Clean home 1st, clean truck 2nd
Really surprised he isn’t constantly pulled over by the police. The truck actually looks like the frame is bending from all that crap.
@djslack It may not move from the Walmart parking lot.
@djslack @sammydog01 Makes me curious enough to stop on the way back and go see if this is where he hangs out. Gas is way cheaper there than on the turnpike too. I didn’t see it posted NGO so who knows. Maybe he lives there?
@djslack @Kidsandliz @sammydog01 He’ll be needing some more ice, I imagine.
Ask him who he voted for.
@medz Why does that matter? Crazy people can vote. They can even run for office.
@medz @mike808 They can even participate/write threads on this forum.
@mike808 Just curious. Not everything has to matter.
@Barney And so can mean people, entertaining people, kind and generous people, trolls… Makes the forum interesting.
There’s a similar one I frequently see on Wickham + Aurora Rd in Melbourne, FL. (Haven’t seen any animals, though.)
@Milyvan1 I hope you had the decency to give the man a bag of ice, as is the customary greeting of batshit crazy people…
@therealjrn He didn’t stop for his and it was too hot to run after him.
I’ll try to be more prepared from now on.
@therealjrn You needing some ice?
@Kidsandliz @therealjrn @Milyvan1
I’m SO going to start doing this
Free ice to them all - quite the new MEH tradition! Love it

You were kind for taking the time to talk to the guy. I bet you lightened his “bag of shit” a little bit. And, even if not, you lightened yours…and mine
@llangley Thank you. It was hot. Usually people like that are having a hard time in life. You can buy ice with food stamps. I figured if he lived in that mess he’d need ice for the cooler I saw on the front seat So I bought some ice.
@llangley Sometimes, they just need someone to care for a moment.
@lseeber Exactly! I just LOVE hearing about random acts of kindness, especially when it’s from one of us Mehtizens!!

@llangley @lseeber oH! you DO??
Well, the other day I was at this picnic…boy was it hot outside. Well, anyway I was getting up to go get some more tea…and get this: a friend of mine needed more ice for their cup.
So I say: “Can you get me some more tea since you’re headed that way anyway?”
You’re right! These random acts of kindness are amazing!
@therealjrn
you crack me up. It’s not really random if you ask for something, though, is it?
@llangley I figure Karma sometimes gets a little busy. I’m not too proud to put it out there when I need help.
I think that alone should show how humble I am.
Anyway, she got me the unsweetened tea, not the sweet…man…life is so hard sometimes.
@llangley @therealjrn Somebody drop a little something extra in your wheaties today dude? lol
@llangley @therealjrn
Picard shoulda ordered:
Tea. Earl Grey. Iced.
And no damned sugar.
/giphy Picard tea

Tidy! Looks like it was put together by one a them bauhaus fellas.
I love Florida, always see crazy stuff when I visit there. Good times.
@star2236 When I worked in Key West on a schooner many years ago it was wild to see what was going on at sunset. We’d sail past some public area, I forget where it was, and every night there’d be people doing all sorts of circus type acts, lots of people dressed in “unusual” ways, and occasionally there’d be some doing some really weird things. Different and crazy stuff is right.
@Kidsandliz Mallory Square is a big tourist attraction in Key West. One of those have to see places along with the Southernmost point marker.
@olperfesser Oh yeah that is what it is called. We’d sail past there with a boat full of passengers so they could see it from the water.
At that walmart now on my way home. That rig apparently drives as it is nowhere in sight.
@Kidsandliz it was too beautiful for this world
