there were no wires included with it, so I haven't used it yet. include wires so users can actually use it out of the box, and you'll get more feedback.
@mcanavino no, it's the cords that you use to plug in your tv, dvd, speakers, whatever. since it's a device to do just these things, you'd think it'd come with it, especially for several hundred dollars. I'd happily pay a few more bucks for the cables if you bundled them in there.
@boygenius1991 There is no reason it would come with any of that. The one I'm using now came with some speaker wires, but I had already bought bigger and better ones on amazon for it. They were too tiny to bother using to begin with. Also HDMI cables would never come with such a thing.
Conclusion: Get some wires like you're supposed to.
@boygenius1991 They have no idea how many sources and speakers you plan to connect to this, or what you already have. For example I recently bought a new receiver to replace an old one. I didn't need any wires since I just plugged them out of the old one and into the new one.
@boygenius1991 Usually the devices you buy come with these cables. In the case of HDMI cables, no one can predict how far away your devices will be from your receiver or TV so they're often not supplied and you buy a cable of appropriate length from a place like Monoprice or your FLCS.
@Nemesis158 Get the Pioneer Andrew Jones bookshelf speakers. They're inexpensive enough that you don't need to wait for a deal and they sound amazing for the price. Or you can get the floorstanding version for the same price.
@Nemesis158 check jbls website for the loft 40. I love them. Ordered 4 speakers for 88 total... If they are still on sale. I strongly reccomend a subwoofer with them, as they lack bass as standalones if you care about full audio..
I was hoping that this would show up again. When @snapster mentioned it in the last video yesterday I crossed my fingers. Now just gotta beg the wife for forgiveness in buying it! :) Charlotte can just get potty trained early...right?
My husband and I have been happy with ours. (It's probably the meh purchase he has least mocked me for wanting to buy.) I don't know enough about these things to tell you anything more useful than that.
@sligett Well, the only answer to the poll was "I'll post my guess in this poll forum topic before 10 AM Eastern time." So, technically, since it said "guess" and not "guesses", I'd say you've got one shot at it.
OK so can I hook up my turntable to it to play my vinyl? (not that I can afford to buy one or anything, but some day I do need to replace my worn out Pioneer receiver so I can play my records again). Edit - I am thinking you can't??
@Kidsandliz you should be able to hook any analog device to this reciever. It has all the standard ports and connections from standard recievers and it has a bunch of digital inputs and outputs including optical. It also has wifi and bluetooth, that should cover just about any device.
@Kidsandliz my sony turntable has a phono preamp built in. Check the back for a switch. Currently running a vinyl setup and home theater with this reciever and i love it.
So the way it will work is: you plug your turntable into this preamp, and then plug the preamp into one of the many RCA input jacks. really shouldn't matter which one, just pick one you otherwise wouldn't use
@deanx2009 may also be correct. Some, generally newer, turntables have the ability to adjust between RIAA and standard EQ, thereby not requiring a preamp. If you know the model of your phonograph, I could probably look it up and let you know!
Sigh I miss two $5 dollar day meh's in a row and all I get is frustrated..aww well meh well that ends meh..BTW I need one of those receiver things u r offering tonight for the lucky guesser closest to the actual number sold....I am going with 562 like what Amazon is selling these meh things for in reverse ..I know I shouldn't post my guess here too but couldn't resist :)
I think it's a great receiver. It hooks right to your internet (wifi or lan) and it can stream internet radio and spotify. The setup was real easy and it has good sound quality. It has enough ports on it that it could easily work with a whole house entertainment system. It also has satellite radio and am/fm. I just really like it, I was looking for used ones on craigslist for a while but then I bought this one. I think it's a great receiver, doubly for the price offered here. If I was a shark I would still buy this! You should too!
Great receiver for any home theater system. Onkyo makes some great stuff, and if you are tired of mediocre sound ..nows the time to improve your life. Pair this receiver with some JBL loft 40 bookshelf's (on sale for 45 a pair on jbls website) and you have a great starter system for cheap!
@deanx2009 "tired of mediocre sound" you say? Them's fighting words! I want to hook this up to 6.2 speaker docks. Mediocre speaker dock surround sound!
Got one last time. Play my PRE AMPLIFIED vinyl on it. sounds great. it does not have a phono input (so no ground either). haven't played with all the digital stuff. bummed it doesn't have airplay, but at a buck eighty, ya can't go wrong.
I was awful tempted by this the last time it was for sale, but passed due to the lack of a phono input. It'd be nice to not need a separate pre-amp for my turntable, but I'm really considering it again.
I bought one the last time it was on!!! My neighbors hate me and called me every other night!! If your smart you will buy one.... I only wish I still lived at home to make my mother angry :)
I own one from the first round that I only got around to setting up last week.
It sounds amazing. The clarity of the highs and lows is especially noticeable. Much better than the old Sony receiver it replaced. I turned off the AccuEQ feature after initial calibration since I've read it wasn't terribly useful.
Now the complaints: The '90s-style text menus are decidedly lackluster. This isn't a big deal unless you're forced to navigate them to use the built-in apps like Spotify or the media player. They aren't really worthwhile when there are much better streaming boxes available for pennies and you have plenty of HDMI inputs to spare with this baby.
Despite the TX-NR535 and my Panasonic TV both supporting "lip sync", there's still a slight a/v sync issue that seems more noticeable with my media PC. I haven't determined the best way to deal with this yet.
The receiver passes through video even when it's on standby, which is neat. However, if you start playback on a device, like a Chromecast, that can turn on your TV automatically (using a HDMI-CEC function, the receiver usually doesn't come out of standby so you're stuck with no sound until you manually power it on.
I do wish the Bluetooth input didn't also turn on the TV when enabled (just to show a few ugly B&W lines of information).
I haven't even opened mine yet, but somehow I'm still convinced it's one of the best buys I've made this year. Buy it if you're looking for a good (not great) receiver at a fantastic price.
This handles all my various electronic inputs with ports to spare. I wasn't expecting speaker wires, since those usually come with speakers. Handles Bluetooth like a boss and everything else I've thrown at it.
Bought it. Set it up. Nice upgrade from my previous and older Onkyo. I haven't put it through much of a test, but it is nice to have a dedicated HDMI out which I did not have before (yes, that should tell you how old my prior Onkyo was).
Bought this last time it was up and am totally satisfied with it. I replaced an old Yamaha receiver. I use it for my TV surround sound and to stream music from my phone. It works great.
I've been using mine for about 3 weeks. It seems solid so far. The bluetooth is an awesome feature, and it has decent range too. At this price point, I would highly recommend this receiver.
Bought one of these last time around. Love mine! Easy set up and love the Bluetooth feature. I would buy another, but it doesn't make sense to have two.
Send me an email to participate! OMG! Anyway, enough fake outrage. I bought it for my brother and installed it last week, works well thus far. It does far more then he will ever use it for but at least he got rid of the monoprice hdmi switcher finally. Its loud. I am not an audiophile so I am not sure how good the sound is, I just know there is a lot of it. For myself, I am sticking with my Denon, it works and is also loud but.... I did notice a notable sound improvement over the Yamaha I had previously. So. Happy with the Onkyo and happy with the Denon. On another note, I missed out on the Fuku bag yesterday cause the site would not accept my payment stuff and kept on spinning. So in summary: Happy with Onkyo Happy with Denon Unhappy with meh.com only having 800 or so Fuku bags.
I bought one last go-round, driven primarily because I wanted the additional HDMI inputs and the wifi + OSD sweetened the deal enough to make it worthwhile.
I went from an Onkyo TX-SR307, which I liked quite a bit.
The good:
Lots of HDMI. Or at least more.
OSD display is much nicer than a VFD only display.
Wifi - I've only used BT streaming and the iPhone app for control, but both work well.
5.2* setup allows you to even out the bass. I was able to try this out by stealing equipment from another room
Ability to rename the inputs (So my PS4 connected to the "DVR" input is actually named PS4 in OSD)
The bad:
While this is 5.2, there doesn't seem to be any real agreement or standard as to what this means. If you're expecting a LFE channel, this doesn't have it
Presets are pretty anemic. Old receiver had a ton of presets and supported a few different DTS/Dolby settings, this one has probably half the presets
The On Screen Display (OSD) is ugly. I mean 1980s weather channel quality block text. Better than nothing, but still.
While you can rename inputs, you can only choose from preset additional names.
WiFi and BT indicator lights are a little annoying, they are bright blue and white LEDs. Not a show stopper, but still
The Meh: On the whole, I would recommend buying if you are in the market for a cheap refresh on an old receiver or are putting together your first home theater. It's not going to wow anyone feature wise, but my opinion (and I'm not an audiophile) is that it's pretty solid, especially at this price.
@hanzov69 The super bright WiFi LED is the main reason I decided to leave it plugged into wired Ethernet. Since I don't use the streaming features or phone remote and the most recent firmware update can only be installed through USB, I'm not sure I have a reason to leave it connected at all.
I got this to upgrade from an early 2000s Denon receiver. It's been a solid unit. I like that it came configured for AppleTV out of the box. I haven't tried any of the streaming stuff, so I can't say anything about that. I'd recommend this to anyone in the market for such an item.
@RedOak I was more or less joking about the amount of stuff I buy here. In effect, pressing meh is kind of like rewarding me with money by stopping me from spending it. I like money
Happy with ours so far. I haven't gotten audio to work from Zone 2 but I suspect it's because I don't have an amp yet. I just figured I'd hear -some- audio from speakers hooked directly up to it. So either something is wrong w/ zone 2 or I really don't understand how it works ;) I'm guessing it's the latter.
@mearlus There were some caveats with Zone 2 use in the manual. That's a pre main output and apparently does require an amp of some sort on the other end.
If you're trying to play a different audio source in each room, it has to be an analog input. If you use NET, USB or BT, it will be the same in both rooms. If I'm reading it correctly, HDMI or SPDIF inputs won't work with Zone 2 (I could be wrong).
@mearlus I figured out the hard way that digital inputs(hdmi, toslink, etc...) can't be used in zone 2. You can bypass this by hooking up rca cables for each source to the matching inputs. Soooo for example you could have a satellite box hooked up via hdmi for audio and video while also hooking up the red and white rca cables to the input with the same name as the hdmi input the box is hooked up to. This should allow you to play your satellite or whatever in zone 2 while maintaining your full hdmi audio on your main speakers. I'm a horrible writer meh.... I like the amp by the way.
@hanzov69 I've read the manual and the advance manual available online. They could be written better to explain exactly how to use the zone2. Yup, the digital inputs can't be used. I suspect that's due to restrictions for 'copyright' protection requiring end users to get the audio via an analog conversion. The other onkyo receiver I own that's about 8 years old controls the audio level of zone2 w/o an amp. I assumed that this receivers zone2 would have some audible audio coming out of zone2 w/ a speaker connected but at an unadjustable volume level w/o an amp. So until I get an amp and test I'm going to chalk it up to my user error w/ zone2 'not working'. :P
@RedOak it's the only place i have today to consider a 'man cave', so i've replaced my meh. boob speaker with the rocks and this, livin' the good life :)
I own an HT-RC360 receiver that suddenly lost audio a few weeks back. I purchased this receiver back in 2012 so I was pretty sure any warranty on it was up.
As I was researching new ones I became disparaged - I really liked my Onkyo and wasn't ready to part ways with it. So I did a quick Google search and, to my utter surprise, I discovered that, not only was this a known issue, Onkyo was taking full responsibility for this issue (among a series of receivers) and was fixing them for free!
I submitted my serial number and found out I was one of the affected. They sent me a box within two days, I shipped the receiver, and 2 days later I had it back, working just great!
(Disclaimer: I live in Wisconsin and their repair facility is apparently in Illinois, hence the quick ship and return)
Even though the fault was disappointing it was great to know that Onkyo really stands behind their stuff. I am not buying this deal but I wanted to let you all know that they are a good company and you most likely cannot go wrong with one of their receivers.
Great entry level or secondary reciever. Bought this for the kitchen speakers and love being able to turn it on and control everything from my phone. One piece of advice is to make sure you have good air circulation. I installed a usb fan in the back of my cabinet which is plugged into the front of the reciever. It turns on/off with the reciever. I know that onkyo worked on fixing the hdmi board issues but after replacing many recievers (all brands) as a AV tech I'd rather spend $15 on a usb fan then have to deal with shipping out for a replacement!
I have had several problems with mine. The sound does not come on after it has been off for several hours. I contacted Onkyo support and they told me to unplug it and plug it back in. This got the sound back but now it is an everyday occurrence to have to unplug it which is a real pain to have to crawl behind the entertainment center everyday. Also, the volume is sometimes delayed. I can turn it up or down and it takes several seconds before the volume just jumps up or down. It was quite a shock the first time the volume jumped from 20 to 45 and blasted the whole room. Onkyo typically makes good stuff but I'm not happy with this receiver.
@gfoll - I was just getting ready to post the same issues you are having. The only difference is that my audio only cuts out about once a week. I never talked to Onkyo, but I figured out the unplug trick to get the audio back. Sounds like Onkyo should fix or replace this for us.
@gfoll I have the same issue. Volume does not come on for 2 minutes. Or, if we turn up volume, it doesn't register for some minute so that when it does, it scares the bejesus out of you.
@gfoll It's possible both of your problems have something in common. Do you have HDMI-CEC enabled to control the volume through your TV remote? That could explain the delay.
I've had to switch audio output from TV speakers back to the receiver through my TV's menu when it loses track (this happens rarely). This is also controlled by the TV over HDMI-CEC.
Maybe it's not getting along with your TV for some reason. What model is your TV?
Hypothetical for everyone. Would you buy one if the total was one short of your guess with one minute remaining? I guess that would make it a BOGO deal. Meh.
I purchased this as a father's day gift the last time Meh had it on the block and I could not be more pleased with the purchase.
In this case it replaced a ten year old Yamaha receiver that was paired with Klipsch speakers in their home theater setup, and the change in sound quality has been impressive. Yamaha receivers have a tendency to sound "tinny" so the warmth of the sound after the switch has been very welcome.
The network connectivity is a very nice feature, especially when you take advantage of the ability to control the receiver using the app on your phone. The Bluetooth connectivity on this makes streaming music quite convenient...and makes the iPod/iPhone dock that the old Yamaha had seem like a joke. I mean really, who uses those things? (Looking at you, Meh.)
No, it doesn't come with cables. Audio components never have and they'll never come with any unless you're buying a home theater in a box, and don't buy a home theater in a box. Get over it and check out Amazon or Monoprice. They're really not that hard or expensive to procure. Just don't spend a fortune on the Monster HDMI cables at Best Buy... remember, that's a digital cable. There's no "better quality" to the 1s and 0s getting through ... They either get from point A to point B or they don't.
TL;DR: Great receiver, great price. Buy your own cables, sit back, and enjoy.
I purchased this receiver and haven't had any issues with it. There's some things that I haven't figured out yet, but in time will get it worked out. For music, the bluetooth feature is great as I can stream music from a tablet. I've also used the android app, but it's not the most intuitive thing. Takes me a long time to figure out how to change the input on that app.
There are some weird quirks that could be operator error such as if I want to watch a movie and turn the receiver on, it will change the input to bluetooth if there is a device I have paired turned on. I'm using some Polk towers and a center channel and it sounds great. Have a phono preamp connected to listen to records. I think there were some questions about using a turntable with it.
All in all, I'm please with my purchase. At this price, it's hard to beat.
@stupidrobot I suspect it switches inputs over to Bluetooth when your paired device sees the receiver and decides to reconnect. The Bluetooth settings have a option which toggles this, confusingly labelled "Direct Change".
Think like most i have a limited budget most expensive thing i bought were the 808s which i love and thats about topping what i will spend on this site run those under 20 items at me all day long ..last item bought was the xpress grill ...common man how about some cheapies and just a suggestion give the members a 60 min head start on the general public ..ty Meh fun site look foward to checcking whats for sale every morning Good luck year 2
I've been very happy with mine. I bought it to replace the audio function of a Phillips multi function Blu-Ray/Radio/Audio all-in-one that took forever to start up. This Onyko starts up quickly and has a very readable display, something the Phillips unit was lacking, as well as on screen display elements. My only wish is that the Internet applications installed on it had a better display interface. They look like an old Honeywell dumb terminal on my 60" television, and let me just say, that is not a pleasant picture.
Overall I am pleased with picking this up the last time it was on meh. I do have two issues, one of which is my own fault, or so I hope. I have what appears to be a bad cable running from the DVR to the receiver. The other is that the AUX HDMI port was not recognizing my Fire Stick. I moved it over to the PC HDMI and it works fine, just a little annoying that it is not working on the input it should be.
I love my 535. I'm so happy I purchased it. It replaced a 5.2 Sony amp that I thought did everything I needed. Wrong! The 535 has 6 inputs so I have a PS3, PS4, Apple TV, Comcast STB, a VCR to DVD copier and one available plug for visiting devices. In addition to all the inputs, the remote is so useful that it replaced all other remotes. The HDMI-CEC works so well I can control my PS3 and PS4 from the remote. There are so many great features I can't list them all, but it works great and I couldn't be happier.
For this price ($180) it is awesome. I received it in a very good condition, no damages at all. Everything works fine. The only weakness is wireless WiFi connection but I could connect it to internet wired.
@ssteckley that review posted in the description has commentors complaining about it as the worst aspect of the system, dropping the WiFi connection constantly.
Great receiver for a great price and not too large in size. Not too crazy about the shipping box that literally empty and could have caused damage but fortunately it was ok.
Been about a month and really like it so far. Bought it mainly for all the HDMI ports as my old Onkyo didn't have any. Haven't had a chance to test the network/bluetooth features. I didn't need a new receiver, but couldn't pass up that price. My old receiver was a tad more powerful and had an extra speaker, but I haven't noticed a difference. Very good purchase.
My unit was unfortunately malfunctioning when it arrived. When it worked, it worked great, but most of the time the best I could get out of it was 2-channel stereo. I contacted Meh about it, looking for a replacement unit, and they directed me to Onkyo's warranty service. Conveniently, there is an authorized warranty center here in my town, where the receiver is right now, getting it's repair. I am looking forward to getting the unit back in its rightful place, because even half working it sounded a heck of a lot better than the speakers it replaced.
It's never pleasant to realize that a device needs warranty service immediately upon taking it out of the box. Meh's response was prompt and friendly and I had no issues at the warranty center. Faith in Meh confirmed.
@LagerSirIsRegal - I also got a malfunctioning receiver right out of the box. Unfortunately I don't live within 5 hours of an Onkyo Service Center so shipping it out is going to be another cost for the receiver. Just wanted to mention for future deals on Onkyo products - might want to check and make sure there's a warranty center close before purchasing.
Got in on this last time. The "NET" option is great (pandora, etc.). There is only one output for speakers (many have speaker A/B, but not this). There is a "zone 2", but it only works for analog, meaning if you use HDMI for the input, you can't get that same sound to also send to zone 2. It will for onboard audio like "NET", so you can hook a different room to zone 2 and play pandora in two locations at the same time.
Overall I am very happy with the purchase. It met my needs for what I expected.
I purchased one the last time it was offered here. I am very happy with it. The NET option is great with Spotify and I use the Bluetooth option to play any audio out of my computer. I have hooked up my Blu-Ray player, my cable box, my Chromecast and Roku to it and everything work wonderfully.
0.7% THD? whats with all these receivers lately approaching 1% THD? A $480 bottom of the line Denon has .08% THD at 8ohms/80W Yes, it's twice the price, but that the newest model still in pre-release, and that's list price - it will be in the high $300 range when it hits Best Buy.
Fir those that are interested THD is total harmonic distortion - less is more.
I bought this during the last sale and am nothing but pleased. For the price it's worth its ability to amplify alone. The Onkyo app has some shortcomings but is more than able to easily play my Spotify playlists. Please be aware you must have a Spotify premium account to use the streaming feature on the receiver.
@Kevin For 4K resolutions, all of the devices in the chain need to actively support HDMI 1.4 to pass through video correctly. You can use pretty much any cables, though.
Works fine, plenty of inputs. I was hoping I could hook up my ancient xbox 360 (with no hdmi only vga or component) to it and it would convert it to hdmi, but no luck. Don't have speakers that I can hook to it yet so I've been routing the sound out through the headphone jack and into my old speakers until I can get some.
I purchased this, this time around. What is the normal expected delivery time. Every product I have ordered through MEH has had a different amount of time before it was delivered. Any ideas?
Shipped quickly, had no damage, worked great out of the box. Was a good upgrade to my old one at a good price. Hardest part was entering my Pandora login info on the 10 char screen. Man that was frustrating.
I also bought one of these last time to replace a somewhat older Pioneer receiver. I've been quite pleased with it. Sounds great, the microphone-based calibration worked noticeably well, especially with my somewhat imperfect setup.
Only things I don't like:
Text menu is a bit ghetto.
When no input is active it throws a garish blue on the screen. Maybe this is supposed to remind me to turn off the tv and stop wasting electricity.
This might be the TV's fualt, but digital audio comes through at super low volume. Need to remember to turn down volume when I switch back to other input.
All that said, it is def worth the price and you'll enjoy.
I bought one last time they came up. At its original $499 price tag it's very meh. At $180 it's very Meh. I'm trying very hard to resist buying a second one for the office right now.
I bought this guy the last time it was offered and I'm quite, quite pleased with it. For $180 it's a freaking steal. I saw up above, someone complained that cables weren't included... dunno how to respond to that. Let's just move on: - 6 HDMI inputs, 1 HDMI output. All your various devices' HDMI inputs connect to this unit, and then just one cable connects the unit to your TV. Super slick. - attach your existing 5.1 (or 5.2) surround sound speakers with banana plugs, or just connect speaker wire to the terminals. Absolutely straightforward and painless. - I don't use the remote (I have a Logitech Harmony 650, which understood the Onkyo's capabilities instantly and allowed me to modify my existing Apple TV, DirecTV, BluRay, and PC presets seamlessly.) - I live in an apartment building, so I haven't tested the upper reaches of the unit's sonic output. Who cares. It's plenty loud, I'm sure. - Separate volume/output control (volume knob) on the subwoofer. I like a movie's audio output to be loud enough that I can hear dialog clearly, but I hate having soundtrack music or heavy bass sound effects knock my neighbor's knick-knacks off their shelves. Being able to dial down the subwoofer's output independent of the rest of the audio satisfies my desires completely. - Allows 8 different devices to use it as a Bluetooth audio destination (one at a time, of course.) My iPhone and iPad connect instantly when I want them to.
So I already own a TR-NX818 and think it is just amazing. Incredible sound and feature set. I bought this receiver for my boat! Can't wait to hook it up and finally have 5.1 on my boat! You can't ever go wrong with Onkyo!
We like ours. It's great for streaming music. It's been years since we had a receiver so that makes having even better. Much easier to setup than we thought it would be.
I bought one last time, and it works great (much better than my 10 year old Denon). The only problem is that I don't know for sure how to pronounce onkyo (is it like "honk-yo" or "on-kay-yo" or "on-kye-o"? Then again, I kept referring to my Denon as "demon."
I finally bought one. I was so mad yesterday that I got fukud by meh on the grab bag that I started trying at 11:59 until the new day began last night then thought ok $175 more and I can be first but took my chances and waited 23 1/2 hours. Read all the comments. No cables? Shocker.
Meh just placed the order for the winning number. Kind of weird that they put it in as an actual order.
What if everyone had put down the SAME number when "guessing" for the contest... would everyone have gotten one, then? After all, everyone would have the "closest" guess...
@CircaRigel When I won a contest, that came in as an order as well, but for $0. Makes sense to me... no reason to alter the buy/mail-flow for something they're shipping anyway.
I'm on the East Coast and anxious to get mine as my former receiver bit the big one and I'm without toons visual media of all kinds. It's been 2-1/2 work days so far and it hasn't even shipped yet. How long did it take folks on the East Coast to get theirs last time around?
@allbenatt depending on where in the east coast... New England is slower than Pa (3 days more) it's anywhere from 1-2 weeks usually. Which helps the whole I've had something coming from meh since Jan 1 and ordered a lot. But not too much I feel. :)
Hey guys, these all shipped out yesterday (slight delay with getting Fuku sent out) and are just waiting to be scanned in by FedEx now. You should see movement on the shipments before too long. cc @loganCMD@patgwashere
Your FAQ shows a 2 day shipping window. It has been 4 complete business days. I still have not received any information regarding this order. What gives? First purchase from meh and am not that impressed, honestly wondering if this is even legit.
@burton062 Sorry for any confusion but I'm really not sure where you got the 2 day shipping window from.
From our FAQ: Q: How much is shipping? How will it be shipped? Can I pay to expedite it? A: Shipping’s always $5, and free for VMP members (see below). So yeah, we’re going to ship it the slowest and cheapest way we can possibly find. Usually that’s Smartpost or Surepost, which starts with FedEx or UPS and ends with the post office. It’ll probably be 2 weeks before you get it. And no you can’t get it any faster.
That said, we're currently investigating an issue with FedEx not scanning our shipments which causes the tracking number to not update and also prevents our shipment emails from triggering.
Finally, under the product specs post in this thread it states "Estimated Delivery: 7/20 - 7/24".
@burton062 I like this advice from their FAQ. Q: How do I track my order?
A: Our advice: live your life for a week or two, your thing will just show up. But if it’s been awhile, check My Orders (which is also in our footer), we’ll put a tracking number there when it’s shipped.
Don't worry you will get your order. I did the first time around. They are legit. Worth the wait.
Mine showed up today. Pleased with it so far. Haven't tried any of the app stuff, just dropped it in to replace a 6-year-old Onkyo that didn't have enough HDMI ports. It works. Biggest issue was reprogramming my old Harmony remote because I didn't have the Logitech software installed on anything anymore.
Was excited for this purchase, but looks like I got a defective receiver. Called Onkyo - they tried what they could, said it was defective and I should swap it out with the seller since it was brand new. Also, no onkyo service center in Alabama I can take it to. Have tried contacting meh from the order form page each of the last two days but no response. Hopefully I'm not just out the $185.
@bretmkal - Not really anything to "look out for" that I can help you with. Mine just wouldn't work for more than 2 or 3 minutes without needed a power reset.
@ghudson - Meh's customer service has been top notch and I am very satisfied with how they've handled the situation. Will definitely continue to buy stuff from the site.
As for Onkyo, no luck for me. As it goes sometimes, I just got a defective unit.
Hooked mine up last night, couple questions for anyone else who is using this receiver:
Tried to update the firmware yet? Results?
I can't figure out how to play a stereo source using just the front left/right speakers and sub. The 'Direct' and 'Stereo' options seem to disregard the sub and are weirdly described as 2.0
Are new receivers shipped with the latest firmware installed or do you always have to install firmware released after production due to packaging? I ordered the TX-NR535 on 7/10/15 (it came yesterday 7/23/15), the firmware install instructions PDF was posted 2/5/15 (I haven't hooked it up yet so haven't checked the current firmware version).
@Web No they are sold as factory reset but since i have had mine its updated 4 times easy to update through setup-hardware-update they are wireless or hard cable to a router and my updates have never taken more than 20 mins
I'm having the same problem with mine. It turns off after a minute or two. Sometimes it stays on a lot longer. I managed a firmware update but the problem us still there.
@ghudson Did you get help with this? The one I bought is having this same problem but I only just hooked it up a couple weeks ago. Hoping I can get it swapped out.
@princecaspn I had to send it out to Onkyo support for repair under warranty. It was a bummer for a new unit that was DOA but meh didn't have any replacement units. They fixed it and returned it in two weeks.
@princecaspn if its cutting make sure all cables are properly conected factory reset power button and dvr button same time it will then shut down when its completed …its happend to mine a couple of times but after updating last update ive had no issues
So for whatever reason (probably lack of proper terminology) i can't find a definitive answer to my question myself, so I'll ask all the audio people here. This receiver is 5.2, and my subwoofer has a left/right input (most do?). For 5.1 systems, from what I gather, you would use a Y cable to run the single subwoofer output to both left and right on the subwoofer, but can I just connect the two subwoofer outputs to the two inputs? Is there something wrong with that? Will it make any difference? Will it hurt anything? This is my surround sound system, if it matters: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=109&cp_id=10906&cs_id=1090601&p_id=10565&seq=1&format=2
Product didn't work from the day it was delivered and Meh isn't offering to replace or refunded. Will be contacting my credit card company for a charge back to Meh. Very unhappy with their customer service.
@czipprich I spoke with our CS team and it looks like we've responded to all of your emails and let you know that since we're completely out of stock we have no way to give you a replacement.
We also let you know to contact the manufacturer to have it looked at/repaired since it is still under warranty. If you have problems with that process please let us know, but until you at least attempt this step there's not much else we can do.
@cegodsey All sorts of personal issues there. Not sure where to start so won't attempt. I wouldn't want to work for you either if I were that ONKYO receiver.
(as for your issue, I am gonna take a guess that the speaker wires are not connected properly OR are shorted, just a guess however ;) ) Since you don't make 50 million a week like the rest of us (I haven't received notice of my raise btw)... I would do the warranty exchange next time.
Lol. This is what happens when I leave my phone alone and my obviously angry relative gets a hold of it. Or maybe he is getting me back for not buying his old receiver. Sorry guys for letting this crap get posted. Lol. Pretty funny though.
Anyone have their receiver go have the protection circuit constantly trigger when you turn on the unit? it has been less than a year and it seems mine has died already.... MEH
@IODMako Returned a different model to Onkyo for warranty work one time. (Mine was even a refurb.) They sent me a box, prepaid shipping label, packing materials -- even a roll of packing tape. Took two or three weeks altogether, but it was all arranged online and I never had to argue with anyone.
I've had problems with the A/V Sync. Several month's ago, the receiver had bad sync that would not be resolved with the adjustment available in the menu. I called Onkyo customer support and he suggested doing a factory reset. That resolved the problem, but is a pain in the ass. last week the a/v sync problem returned but I unplugged/plugged in the receiver AC power and the sync problem was resolved. This morning the sync problem is back but unplugging/plugging in the AC power doesn't help. I haven't tried the factory reset yet. Any mehniacs have any suggestions?
@Ignorant Yoda wants to know if that thingamajig goes with that doohickey or that other whatchamacallit. Or maybe all of them connect together and how?
@Yoda_Daenerys if you are asking how to hook up speakers:
You will need to strip back the end of the speaker wire to bare copper, unscrew the red/black knobs slightly and there will be an opening on the top right and bottom left…stick the bare wire in one of the openings and tighten the knobs.
Or if you have banana clips on the end of the speaker wire, you would plug the banana plug right into the center of the red/black knobs.
unscrew the red/black knobs slightly and there will be an opening on the top right and bottom left…stick the bare wire in one of the openings and tighten the knobs.
that’s the part i am not getting - didn’t see the holes to put the exposed wire into.
@Yoda_Daenerys I don’t have this model, but it looks like it only has line out for zone 2 (RCA style plugs under the surround speaker hook ups). So you’d have to hook it to the line in of another amplifier in the garage via RCA plugs.
Most of onkyo’s 7.1 receivers will let you use the rear surround speakers as zone 2 and use zone 1 as a 5.1 system.

No dancing irk? Meh.
there were no wires included with it, so I haven't used it yet. include wires so users can actually use it out of the box, and you'll get more feedback.
@boygenius1991 It didn't come with a power cord?
@mcanavino no, it's the cords that you use to plug in your tv, dvd, speakers, whatever. since it's a device to do just these things, you'd think it'd come with it, especially for several hundred dollars. I'd happily pay a few more bucks for the cables if you bundled them in there.
@boygenius1991 Should they throw in some speakers and a flat screen too?
@boygenius1991 I bet someone as good at online shopping as you are can figure out how to score some of that sweet, sweet cord.
@boygenius1991 Exactly. No audio equipment EVER comes with interconnects. Never has; never will.
Throw in a dancing Irk and I'm sold
I haven't used mine yet because i need some speakers for it and I want a good deal on some speakers..............
@Nemesis158 I've paired mine with JBL speakers on sale and they sound great!
@arena11 @Nemesis158 I also paired mine with JBL speakers that were on sale (but not anymore) from amazon - good enough for my setup!
Guesses go in the Poll thread, not this thread!
957 good luck! I'm really happy with the one I bought last time. It's not easy to swap this component out of your media stack.
with the resurgence in popularity of vinyl, you'd think more receivers would have phono inputs
@emptyreality so does this have them? I don't even know what half that stuff in the specs is/means... I am thinking the answer is no?
@Kidsandliz no, but in the review linked in the description, the reviewer connected one with a phono preamp.
@emptyreality Not enough people buy turntables to justify making everyone pay for a preamp. External preamps are commonly available and inexpensive.
@PhotoJim The higher-end Onkyos (like my TX-NR 818) have phono preamps.
My husband and I have been happy with ours. (It's probably the meh purchase he has least mocked me for wanting to buy.) I don't know enough about these things to tell you anything more useful than that.
IF YOU GUESSED IN HERE, YOU NEED TO GUESS AGAIN (HAHAHA) IN THIS THREAD, BECAUSE YOUR COMMENT GOT DELETED.
@JonT Have you done a contest before? I don't see rules such as only one vote... I could I enter 1383 votes to cover all the bases?
@sligett Well, the only answer to the poll was "I'll post my guess in this poll forum topic before 10 AM Eastern time." So, technically, since it said "guess" and not "guesses", I'd say you've got one shot at it.
But yeah, clarification would be nice.
I bought one last time. I'm no expert, but I love everything about it so far. I'm super satisfied with my purchase. Thanks, meh!
Do I get a prize for knowing where to post my guess?
OK so can I hook up my turntable to it to play my vinyl? (not that I can afford to buy one or anything, but some day I do need to replace my worn out Pioneer receiver so I can play my records again). Edit - I am thinking you can't??
@Kidsandliz you can, but you'll need a phono preamp. Your turntable might have one built-in, but probably not.
@Kidsandliz @Santo is correct, it will work, you just need something like this preamp.

@AttyVette changed my mind so meh 653 is my guess ...but then again, I don't win anything
I dance....
@Stallion
And I had a really really really good time
I was hoping for a back to back Fuku :(
@Portlis don't worry, I was secretly hoping for that too.
Vinyls not included.
@deanx2009 I do not see the JBL Loft 40's on sale on their website.
@deanx2009 "tired of mediocre sound" you say? Them's fighting words! I want to hook this up to 6.2 speaker docks. Mediocre speaker dock surround sound!
@deanx2009 yeah that deal is expired
Now the complaints:
The '90s-style text menus are decidedly lackluster.
(The reason I put off trying the TX-NR535 for so long was that I had to repair my powered subwoofer and run new speaker wires for this receiver.)
Oh and be warned that it sends blasts of scary loud white noise through your speakers for calibration.
I haven't even opened mine yet, but somehow I'm still convinced it's one of the best buys I've made this year. Buy it if you're looking for a good (not great) receiver at a fantastic price.
Have you ever been evicted because of noise.... I am about to be
This handles all my various electronic inputs with ports to spare. I wasn't expecting speaker wires, since those usually come with speakers. Handles Bluetooth like a boss and everything else I've thrown at it.
Worth it at this price.
Bought it.
Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 ate 9.
I'm guessing 789 units sold, give or take a few hundred.
I've been using mine for about 3 weeks. It seems solid so far. The bluetooth is an awesome feature, and it has decent range too. At this price point, I would highly recommend this receiver.
Curious if this company Onkoyo is owned by Yoko Ono? Meh thinkers want to know..just saying....
@AttyVette no. But she changed her name after buying her first Onkyo.
Bought one of these last time around. Love mine! Easy set up and love the Bluetooth feature. I would buy another, but it doesn't make sense to have two.
Not enough to replace my current Onkyo, but would enjoy winning one. Passthrough never seemed useful to me.
So in summary:
Happy with Onkyo
Happy with Denon
Unhappy with meh.com only having 800 or so Fuku bags.
I bought one last go-round, driven primarily because I wanted the additional HDMI inputs and the wifi + OSD sweetened the deal enough to make it worthwhile.
I went from an Onkyo TX-SR307, which I liked quite a bit.
The good:
The bad:
The Meh:
On the whole, I would recommend buying if you are in the market for a cheap refresh on an old receiver or are putting together your first home theater.
@trisk I'm glad you mentioned the USB only update, I
did install an update via the Net Update function and assumed I got the latest version. Nope.
@hanzov69 @trisk Black Tape. Either electrical or gaffer. And if you want to see it a bit, make a pin hole in the tape.
(assuming the indicator light is by itself in the aluminum, not buried in the display... If not, ignore the above!)
Still not 7.1. Still Meh.
@JazzyJosh and not $300+
I got this to upgrade from an early 2000s Denon receiver. It's been a solid unit. I like that it came configured for AppleTV out of the box. I haven't tried any of the streaming stuff, so I can't say anything about that. I'd recommend this to anyone in the market for such an item.
Audio quality-wise, this would be decent for a beginner or someone low on cash but the specs are rather meager on amp power/distortion ratio.
@KevinRitchey meh
@KevinRitchey After selling A/V equipment for over 25 years, I know that of which I speak!
@dmlivezey After selling A/V gear for over 25 years, I believe I've learned a thing or two. You still get what you pay for.
@KevinRitchey ... and you pay for what you get.
This isn't a guess. 322 of these will be sold. Mark my words. And as always, meh...
i'm liking it so far. onkyo app for iphone works to power it up and down. learning dedicated remote controls my non-onkyo BD and TV.
We should get rewarded with $ for pressing meh.
@Dengue why?
I'm going with 232 units sold. Solid receiver but feel like anyone who wanted one got it last month.
i bought one, no buyers remorse yet, but it's in the garage with stereo speakers only, connected via bluetooth, sounds nice so far
@dmlivezey the garage and shop are where we run our old decommissioned equipment, not the new stuff. Must be nice! ;-)
@RedOak it's the only place i have today to consider a 'man cave', so i've replaced my meh. boob speaker with the rocks and this, livin' the good life :)
Onkyo really made me happy a few weeks ago.
Happier than I expected to be ... bluetooth and wifi features work well, sounds good, meh.
Hypothetical for everyone. Would you buy one if the total was one short of your guess with one minute remaining? I guess that would make it a BOGO deal. Meh.
@PilotJim Funny, I was thinking the very same thing. Yes, I would!
@PilotJim i may have to buy about 700 to get the free one
We got ours last time to replace an older model and this one is great. Everything works great and its more than I thought when I purchased it.
What is with all the buyers from Lycoming County, PA?
@pteridoid remember that thunderstorm several weeks ago? That. (Power line surge. )
Still pissed about there only being 619 Fubu's and me not getting one so on the receiver, NO DEAL. Fuku 2
After a couple of weeks, I'm loving mine so far. The auto speaker EQ and balance work great, too.
237 is my guess, based on nothing at all.
My guess is 288.
@gwrankin based on my phone extension at work.
Think like most i have a limited budget most expensive thing i bought were the 808s which i love and thats about topping what i will spend on this site run those under 20 items at me all day long ..last item bought was the xpress grill ...common man how about some cheapies and just a suggestion give the members a 60 min head start on the general public ..ty Meh fun site look foward to checcking whats for sale every morning Good luck year 2
@mellowirishgent Google "period grammar" and it'll tell you how to use those cute little dots properly.
@uwacn I DONT NEED TO GOOGLE ANYTHING TO MAKE DOPES LIKE YOU FEEL BETTER ABOUT USEING PROPER GRAMMER "GET OVER YOURSELF "
@mellowirishgent dude...stop yelling. :)
Overall, 4 out of 5.
333, JUST B3CAUS3
@farrokhyara There is wireless, that is how mine is connected.
@ssteckley that review posted in the description has commentors complaining about it as the worst aspect of the system, dropping the WiFi connection constantly.
@ronnyd Got ya. Mine doesn't drop. It is pretty solid...
@ssteckley that's good to know. Thanks! One more Data point ...
Again no universal power supply. Does no one offer it? Even the crappiest computer has one.
Follow up: Received the unit from the Repair Center today. Functions exactly as expected now.
Ill guess 321 units sold.
I purchased one the last time it was offered here. I am very happy with it. The NET option is great with Spotify and I use the Bluetooth option to play any audio out of my computer. I have hooked up my Blu-Ray player, my cable box, my Chromecast and Roku to it and everything work wonderfully.
I am very, very satisfied with the purchase.
0.7% THD? whats with all these receivers lately approaching 1% THD? A $480 bottom of the line Denon has .08% THD at 8ohms/80W Yes, it's twice the price, but that the newest model still in pre-release, and that's list price - it will be in the high $300 range when it hits Best Buy.
Fir those that are interested THD is total harmonic distortion - less is more.
420, Bob.
@jcjr81 no, I guessed 375 last night.
This works great.. looking at thewirecutter, this is one step down from a highly recommended receiver. The Wire Cutter Review
Im moving in 3 weeks. Will it get to me before I pack up and leave?
Roughly 250 units will be sold
I bought this during the last sale and am nothing but pleased. For the price it's worth its ability to amplify alone. The Onkyo app has some shortcomings but is more than able to easily play my Spotify playlists. Please be aware you must have a Spotify premium account to use the streaming feature on the receiver.
What's the deal with 4k pass though? Is that an unessary statement or is there an actual limitation?
@Kevin For 4K resolutions, all of the devices in the chain need to actively support HDMI 1.4 to pass through video correctly. You can use pretty much any cables, though.
Got this receiver on the last deal, works great. Easy setup.
Good times are being had.
I got this receiver last time around. It's very easy to setup and it sounds amazing.
Any ideas?
@IODMako Mine (from last time) arrived (in CA) exactly one week after order.
@IODMako about a week in Texas.
I have no Idea if this will work, but my estimate is 305 units
Since this is Friday, and you can stream through it via Bluetooth and Wifi .. should we consider this a Speaker Dock?
322 sold. Meh away!
Shipped quickly, had no damage, worked great out of the box. Was a good upgrade to my old one at a good price. Hardest part was entering my Pandora login info on the 10 char screen. Man that was frustrating.
I'm one of the few who posted a review in the original sale thread. (Spoiler alert: I like it.) Do I get a prize?
I also bought one of these last time to replace a somewhat older Pioneer receiver. I've been quite pleased with it. Sounds great, the microphone-based calibration worked noticeably well, especially with my somewhat imperfect setup.
Only things I don't like:
All that said, it is def worth the price and you'll enjoy.
I bought one last time they came up. At its original $499 price tag it's very meh. At $180 it's very Meh. I'm trying very hard to resist buying a second one for the office right now.
I bought this guy the last time it was offered and I'm quite, quite pleased with it. For $180 it's a freaking steal. I saw up above, someone complained that cables weren't included... dunno how to respond to that. Let's just move on:
- 6 HDMI inputs, 1 HDMI output.
- I don't use the remote (I have a Logitech Harmony 650, which understood the Onkyo's capabilities instantly and allowed me to modify my existing Apple TV, DirecTV, BluRay, and PC presets seamlessly.)
- I live in an apartment building, so I haven't tested the upper reaches of the unit's sonic output.
Really, just buy it. I wish I needed 2.
So I already own a TR-NX818 and think it is just amazing. Incredible sound and feature set. I bought this receiver for my boat! Can't wait to hook it up and finally have 5.1 on my boat! You can't ever go wrong with Onkyo!
I'm ignorant on most of these things... Why the ethernet jack on the back? Can this output to an OnQ system?
@ninkumpoop The Ethernet and WiFi is just for built-in streaming apps (Spotify, etc.) and the phone remote app.
We like ours. It's great for streaming music. It's been years since we had a receiver so that makes having even better.
Much easier to setup than we thought it would be.
Are these brand new units or refurb/reconditioned?
@birbo new. I got mine last time they were up.
Does this support ARC?
@JohnnieJunior Yes, it does, along with all the other HDMI 1.4 bells and whistles.
do we get email notice--when it shippes ??
@rich2448 yes.
I bought one last time, and it works great (much better than my 10 year old Denon). The only problem is that I don't know for sure how to pronounce onkyo (is it like "honk-yo" or "on-kay-yo" or "on-kye-o"? Then again, I kept referring to my Denon as "demon."
Good buy... Like it so far...!!!
This unit has 4K pass thru, will it also pass thru 3D signals?
@jpr9845 I found the answer on the Onkyo product page, YES!
Will you please post the receivers on days I get paid?!
Next one should be on August 7. Get it? August 7.
I finally bought one. I was so mad yesterday that I got fukud by meh on the grab bag that I started trying at 11:59 until the new day began last night then thought ok $175 more and I can be first but took my chances and waited 23 1/2 hours. Read all the comments. No cables? Shocker.
733
I am stunned with amount sold.......un fucking believable
748 was guessed exactly correctly. Two people guessed 747 and there was also a guess of 749. They must be pissed.
How long does it take to ship/arrive?
@CNewman Up at the top, in the specs, you can find the shipping time estimate. In this case,
Meh just placed the order for the winning number. Kind of weird that they put it in as an actual order.
What if everyone had put down the SAME number when "guessing" for the contest... would everyone have gotten one, then? After all, everyone would have the "closest" guess...
@CircaRigel Only the first person to post the winning number would have won.
@CircaRigel When I won a contest, that came in as an order as well, but for $0. Makes sense to me... no reason to alter the buy/mail-flow for something they're shipping anyway.
@Thumperchick Ok.
@ACraigL That makes sense.
ordered this on the 10th and still says processing.
When will unit ship?
Mine also hasn't shipped... thought the FAQ said usually within 2 days?
Hey guys, these all shipped out yesterday (slight delay with getting Fuku sent out) and are just waiting to be scanned in by FedEx now. You should see movement on the shipments before too long. cc @loganCMD @patgwashere
@MEHcus Are we getting tracking numbers?
@LoganCMD Yep we'll email you your tracking number as soon as it gets scanned in by Fed Ex
@MEHcus Thanks!! Looking forward to getting it--still right on schedule I see. I appreciate the info
Your FAQ shows a 2 day shipping window. It has been 4 complete business days. I still have not received any information regarding this order. What gives? First purchase from meh and am not that impressed, honestly wondering if this is even legit.
@burton062
Sorry for any confusion but I'm really not sure where you got the 2 day shipping window from.
From our FAQ:
Q: How much is shipping?
I promise we're legit, sorry for the confusion.
@kyleg20 they will get to you, they get backed up from weekend tickets.
@kyleg20 What was the issue? Would it not turn on or did you notice something that seemed off?
This is my first receiver, I guess I'm just asking what to keep an eye out for.
@kyleg20 looks like @galmaegi responded to your email a few days back and we haven't heard back from you yet.
Make sure you check your spam folders.
@JonT You are correct. It was in my spam folder. Trying Onkyo customer support again.
@bretmkal - Not really anything to "look out for" that I can help you with. Mine just wouldn't work for more than 2 or 3 minutes without needed a power reset.
@kyleg20 Did you have any luck with Onkyo support?
@ghudson - Meh's customer service has been top notch and I am very satisfied with how they've handled the situation. Will definitely continue to buy stuff from the site.
As for Onkyo, no luck for me. As it goes sometimes, I just got a defective unit.
Hooked mine up last night, couple questions for anyone else who is using this receiver:
Are new receivers shipped with the latest firmware installed or do you always have to install firmware released after production due to packaging? I ordered the TX-NR535 on 7/10/15 (it came yesterday 7/23/15), the firmware install instructions PDF was posted 2/5/15 (I haven't hooked it up yet so haven't checked the current firmware version).
@Web If I had to guess, I'd bet it has whatever firmware was current as of 2/5/15
@Web No they are sold as factory reset but since i have had mine its updated 4 times easy to update through setup-hardware-update they are wireless or hard cable to a router and my updates have never taken more than 20 mins
@raive You only need to run 1 rca to the subwoofer... in theory you could run the other sub pre out to another subwoofer if you wanted to.
@thismyusername Yeah, that's how I have it set up now. I probably won't bother spending money on a second subwoofer anytime soon though. Thanks :)
@thismyusername i have 2 subwookers conected it certainly give more umph when watching movies and gameing the whole room vibrates
Product didn't work from the day it was delivered and Meh isn't offering to replace or refunded. Will be contacting my credit card company for a charge back to Meh. Very unhappy with their customer service.
@czipprich have you tried contacting support @hollboll has helped me a few times and is usually too eager to help out.
@czipprich Did you go to https://meh.com/support? Did you check your spam folder if you've already emailed them?
@czipprich I spoke with our CS team and it looks like we've responded to all of your emails and let you know that since we're completely out of stock we have no way to give you a replacement.
We also let you know to contact the manufacturer to have it looked at/repaired since it is still under warranty. If you have problems with that process please let us know, but until you at least attempt this step there's not much else we can do.
Help us help you. :)
MOD edit: Post deleted at users request.
@cegodsey Block access, in order to help people make better decisions. That sounds reasonable.
@cegodsey ok
@cegodsey Well, I'm glad you went through all of that instead of contacting the people who are honoring a 2 year warranty on the product. Or even contacting meh.com/support for help.
@cegodsey Do your customers know that you block sites willy-nilly on the service they pay for?
Sounds like a great service provider! Where is it, so I can make sure I never move there?
@djslack Seconded!
@cegodsey I'm willing to bet that's not the first time your neighbors called the cops on you.
@cegodsey All sorts of personal issues there. Not sure where to start so won't attempt. I wouldn't want to work for you either if I were that ONKYO receiver.
@cegodsey I think I found a pic of you at work
(as for your issue, I am gonna take a guess that the speaker wires are not connected properly OR are shorted, just a guess however ;) )
Since you don't make 50 million a week like the rest of us (I haven't received notice of my raise btw)... I would do the warranty exchange next time.
Lol. This is what happens when I leave my phone alone and my obviously angry relative gets a hold of it. Or maybe he is getting me back for not buying his old receiver. Sorry guys for letting this crap get posted. Lol. Pretty funny though.
@cegodsey sure. I believe you
@cegodsey pls prove it. With links to existing sane @cegodsey posts other places on meh.
@RedOak or we can just mosey on and play Elsa.
@Thumperchick had to google that.
@RedOak sorry, I saw a gif earlier and have had Let It Go stuck in my head ever since.
Nonsense aside, mine is still working fine, I've never has a single issue with it, and I absolutely love it.
@cegodsey Aww. I remember MY first drunk post.
Well, not the posting part.
@Thumperchick My daughter listens to Frozen nearly constantly. Now you've got that song stuck in my mind.
@cegodsey I'll consider that payback for the post and we're all square. ;)
@G1 I'll never admit to a drunk post. Although... that may have qualified...
Anyone have their receiver go have the protection circuit constantly trigger when you turn on the unit? it has been less than a year and it seems mine has died already.... MEH
@IODMako This has a 2 yr warranty on it. Details are in the top post. Hope you get a sturdier unit!
@Stumpy91 I am having this same issue lol been having it for a couple years. Gets fixed with a factory reset but that is annoying as hell.
i could yuse eh hand, oar reminder on ewesage of the speaker connectors
anybody familyar with thee connection between bear whire ant the red/black left/right connectors?
i’m used to the clippy kind like on the back of 1990-2000 vintage bose speakers
@Yoda_Daenerys i wish i could help, but i’m sure some aMeh .rican, Meh.xican or caMeh.dian Meh.tizen will sound off
/image sound off

@Yoda_Daenerys you are definitely whack. sorry, can’t help
/8ball will they help them?
Signs point to yes
@Yoda_Daenerys I might be able to help, but I have no clue what you are asking/saying.
@Ignorant Yoda wants to know if that thingamajig goes with that doohickey or that other whatchamacallit. Or maybe all of them connect together and how?
I also speak some Fortworthian Texan.
@Barney the thingamajig goes in the doohickey And you eat the whatchamacallit.
/image whatchamacallit

@Ignorant Damn, where were you when I needed you all those years ago?
@Yoda_Daenerys just to add to what @ignorant said, the red and black doohickeys are called binding posts.
It also helps if you twist the wire when you strip it to keep stray strands from poking out and not wanting to go through the little hole.
@Ignorant
that’s the part i am not getting - didn’t see the holes to put the exposed wire into.
you know, the do-hickey thing-a-ma-bo?
@Yoda_Daenerys
See those little notches at the top right of the red/black?
Unscrew until you don’t see the red in that notch, the put speaker wire in there and tighten.
@Ignorant roger that, eye oh ewe
/youtube eye oh ewe
/image iou

/giphy eye oh ewe

/8ball eye oh ewe?
Without a doubt
i was trying to jam it in the end
/giphy jam it in the end

/image jam it in the end

@Ignorant while you’re at it, can i use FRONT for inside the garage and SURROUND for outside the garage (independent stereo for each, not 5.1)?
and is there an app (in case i lost the remote)
@Yoda_Daenerys I don’t have this model, but it looks like it only has line out for zone 2 (RCA style plugs under the surround speaker hook ups). So you’d have to hook it to the line in of another amplifier in the garage via RCA plugs.
Most of onkyo’s 7.1 receivers will let you use the rear surround speakers as zone 2 and use zone 1 as a 5.1 system.
