One Fine Day
43I knew this would come one day, this is the one I’ve been waiting for, starting on July 11. Still sad that I missed the Kickstarter by just a few days.
Curious to think how many hours I’ve spent here, laughing, learning stuff, playing games - seeing people come and go and sometimes come back again. Oh, and sometimes even buying stuff.
I saw 1111 clickfaces pass by during the meh-rathon in the middle of the night, no time to record it.
If it isn’t one thing, it’s another, but I feel a oneness with meh. It will always be #1 in my book.
Next stop – 11111 days.

I really wanted to star this, but that would mean there’d be two stars instead of 1. Congrats!
@dashcloud Thanks!
Maybe I’m just being onerous, but I was hoping for 11.
@KDemo too late. How about 111?
I starred it and had to un-star it so it would have 1 star.
Here’s your star! Congrats!
Thanks, @f00l! I feel like a star.
Guess I should’ve posted at 11:11, but couldn’t decide on a time zone.
I will be soooooooooooo old in 11111 days!!! like 3 decades older!
I will join you in 5 days!

@mikibell - Welcome aboard! Always room for one more.
Thanks for doing the math. I guess a lot of us have milestones coming around. I’ll congratulate you now, and again in five days.
Woo hoo!!
@mikibell - Also, thanks for the song. It’s been stuck in my head since I wrote the line and I don’t mind at all.
@KDemo ❤

Congratulations, @mikibell!
You get to make a mediocre wish!
Congrats. Let’s go for 11 votes!
@KDemo You just lost my vote. Back to 11 now.
@Barney Thank You 111 would be overly ambitious.
@cranky1950 We could try for 111, but I don’t think anyone has ever gotten that many, even in the good ol’ days when it seemed like everyone was giving out stars.
Edit: So much for that, it’s back to 12.
@Barney - I think I remember a few of those in the way back machine. Don’t think the current crowd is as star-centric as we once were.
Guess everyone uses s a little differently.
@KDemo Yep, you’re right about the stars.
Ah, back to 11. I think I need a motion sickness pill.
@Barney - Here you go -
@KDemo I guess it’s too late?
@Barney Meh checked this am and it’s up to 17 so I put mine back
@cranky1950 I had to include this one.
@cranky1950 - That’s the band of famous authors, right? I had never heard their music, thanks.
@KDemo Yup Steven King, Amy Tan, and Dave Barry
@ThomasF - One-derful!
That reminds me of this:
Not starring because 11. Congrats!
@djslack
I hear ya

@Cerridwyn - Congratulations!
Welcome to the thousandaires club!
Made me look and now I realized I bypassed my 1111. Seems fitting as my car hit 50,000 miles on my way to work this morning. I knew it was going to happen, I planned on seeing it happen, I forgot until I looked at it and I was at 50,010.

Btw, I starred you since you’re past the point of no return. So now you’re at 15 which I’m looking at 1+5=6. Now read in reverse, 6-5=1. Or something like that…
@cinoclav Me, too. “moondrake joined us 1389 days ago on October 7th, 2013.”
@cinoclav I always miss that because I keep the trip odometer active. The prius turned 200000 last April and the Truck is about to turn 300000. My wife has been driving her veehickle twice as long as I’ve been driving mine and her’s has not yet turned 140000 yet.
@cranky1950 Yeah, my Honda was 10yo last month and I haven’t broken 55k yet.
@moondrake I drive about 75 miles roundtrip for work each day and usually tack on one or two long road trips every year. I miss the days when I used to average about 10k a year but at least I’m getting my value out of my vehicle.
@moondrake my current (Honda) rat trap is 13 and has around 180,000 on it. I bought it 3 years ago when my 25 year old ghetto van blew an engine bearing… Grand caravans are not meant to go 25 years. Trust me on that. Would love it if mine was only at 55k. the guy who fixes my car has a Honda accord at 580,000 last I knew. He has a 500K club and there are about a dozen photos of cars and their owners on that board.
@cinoclav I’ll have to pay attention. I just looked and I am at 1108 days.
@cinoclav @moondrake @Kidsandliz
Welcome to the club!
@Kidsandliz @cinoclav I was in my mid 20s and I’d had my job with the City for a year when I went house shopping, and it was already looking like a career. So I concentrated my house hunting in the central area near downtown where older, less expensive housing stock occupies the eastern hillside, escaping the brutal late afternoon sun in the shade of the mountains. I bought a tiny home just 2 miles from the offices where I worked for 30 years. So my daily commute was 4-8 miles, depending on whether I went home for lunch. I also rent cars when I go out of town, I’d rather not put that wear and tear on my own vehicle. I drove my first Honda for 15 years and sold it with 80k miles on it. I expect this one to last at least another 5 years, hopefully a bit longer. I pay off the house next summer and I’d like a few years with no house or car payment.
@moondrake - I did pretty much the same thing. Work was a little under 4 miles each way, rented another car for long trips. My 1992 Accord has (believe it or not) about 111,000 miles on it, still running well.
I’m jealous of those remote keys everyone else has, but a car payment would not be possible at this point.
Just keep changing the oil!
@KDemo Yeah. I found somebody who’s going to come and give it a hand wash and wax and vacuum and shampoo the uphostery in my driveway tomorrow for its birthday. I’m pretty faithful on the oil changes, but the once each 3mos is a bit much. I have an oil life gauge and I changed at 50%.
Is there any way we can get the topic star count up to 111?
Now that we’ve passed 1 and 11?
@f00l - I may have to star my own post for that to happen.
@KDemo @f00l I just brought the count to 25… I am sure if you started a contest where the person who made the 111’th star wins and the person who stars at 112 has to buy and send to the winner, you’d reach 111 and stay there.
@Kidsandliz - Wow, you deserve a star for that!
Reminds me of this
@caspalta - So great!
For some reason your topic title always reminds me of this childhood classic:
–
ONE BRIGHT DAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT,
TWO DEAD BOYS GOT UP TO FIGHT.
BACK TO BACK THEY FACED EACH OTHER,
DREW THEIR SWORDS AND SHOT EACH OTHER.
THE DEAF POLICEMAN HEARD THE NOISE;
CAME OUT AND SHOT THE TWO DEAD BOYS.
IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE THIS LIE IS TRUE,
ASK THE BLIND MAN WHO SAW IT TOO!
