Tomorrow is my first day back to work after a long vacation. I am somewhere between relieved to be doing something and annoyed I have to get up in the morning.
Well, I’m moving in, like, two or three weeks and haven’t started packing or anything yet, so this was probably my last peaceful-ish day. Good so far, I’ll say.
Fixing breakfast, dropped an egg on my bare toes. Husband came to clean it up, including my toes. Broke two more eggs in the skillet. Toast popped up and I buttered it. Thought I was feeling the wet floor but finally figured out he’d missed a large section of egg white which I was then tracking all over. While trying to clean all of it up, my eggs fried hard (hate that), my toast was cold, and I’d used the last of the soft butter to butter it.
@karlajoy I hope your “flu” is not the CV-19 kind, though the regular flu can still be very serious.
See if your outside family and/or friends can send some meals or at least sandwiches to your front door, so you can get just a little bit more rest and other stress-free time. Either way, keep your own strength up!
I don’t know how to send help, but I can send prayers and other good wishes, and will do so.
May 1st marks the end of a week-long stay on the beach to celebrate Mom’s 90th birthday.
Both her kids, their kids (with their spouses/partners), and her two grandkids were able to get together to celebrate this milestone.
Had a great time, and many memories were made. Water was a bit choppy on a couple of days, but we did manage to kayak some.
My one remaining uncle from both sides of my family (no aunts left or parents or grandparents, except his wife) was always the baby of seven siblings. I haven’t seen him in about four or five years, but we are having a small family reunion at his place, end of May.
Now that he is 90, I will probably be shocked when I see my uncle again. Just cannot imagine him old. I wonder how tall he is now. He was half an inch taller than my father, who was once 6’4". (I was 6’2" at my tallest, but am now just about 6’ even. My father had shrunk to below that level.)

It’s on St George Island near Apalachicola Florida on the gulf. And yes, it is available for rent… that’s how we got it. If you’re serious about wanting the details let me know and I’ll whisper you the contact info.
I landed my second government contract in the last couple of years and I get to finish systems training today and get to work, I received the news that I made the presidents list at school, I am keeping to my calorie limits, and my meditation and inner child work is going great.
So I haven’t researched this yet for fear of going down a rabbit hole and end up watching a video of some flower eating bug in Sri Lanka,but…does anyone remember a May day tradition of picking wild flowers,leaving them on a friend or neighbor’s porch,then ringing the doorbell and running away? I was a small child in the 1960’s living in the northeast U.S.when this was a tradition.So in reflection these many years later,this seemed the perfect place to ponder and elicit smart ass comments on the subject.Was this an apology for the April fools prank I (we) pulled off,such as swapping patio furniture and potted plants in the neighborhood,or a precursor to feel better about the flaming bag of dog shit that was to come a few months later? Anyone??
@detailer We did this! Although we didn’t run off, we would lurk nearby so that the neighbors would see us and invite us in for cookies. There were always cookies!
Work was frustrating: trying to get a Windows XP system to join the domain for over a week. Turns out something in the OS is borked. Starting a scratch install.
Going good so far. One day and one bicycle ride.
@yakkoTDI And managed to completely ignore your goatification.
Meh.
@werehatrack I was looking for that option!
One day closer to the eventual heat death of the universe.
I spent the entire month of April doing an April Fools prank on a coworker. I’m happy it’s May and I am done with rubber ducks!
@iluvmingos I think we need to hear more about this!!!
@iluvmingos James? Is that you?
@yakkoTDI That was my inspiration!
@Kyeh I’m putting together a slideshow of the pictures, I’ll have to post it here when I’m done.
@iluvmingos @yakkoTDI That was great! Looking forward to seeing your creativity.
Went ice skating with the kid. Great start so far.
Sucks, I have to go back to work on Monday
I just blew my Meh bouton streak.
@mtbm33 Ditto. I was on the site yesterday – not sure how I missed clicking. (Or does Meh have a fake button?)
@mtbm33 @phendrick That would be a great April Fool joke. A meh “face” that just looks like an unclicked meh button.
@mtbm33 @tweezak One that flashes “Gotcha!” after you’ve clicked it the fifth time.

@hchavers And the third option of being horrified at how far behind you are on everything.
I went around all day yesterday saying ‘Mother, May I’, but never got permission.
Today, I’ll try ‘Father, May too’.

@pooflady time for breakfast out.
@pooflady
But, that’s what dogs are for.
Started okay, ending not so great. A little too much beer.
Had a really good day and a bad night. I’m going with good.
meh
My whole house has the flu. So far I’m the last (wo)man standing but I work from home so I fear my days are numbered. Please send help!

@chienfou
I’d say that water is choppy!
Congrats to your Mom and all your family.

Yep… and shallow too!
The house was simply massive. Seven bedrooms including a bunk room, 7 and 1/2 baths. Lots of room for everyone to spread out.
@chienfou @phendrick Where is that house and can I rent it?
@chienfou Wow, fabulous! You’re the winner of this thread, I think. Just steps from the surf - that looks soooo nice.
@phendrick @zinimusprime

It was finally a gorgeous day.
Can’t go home until the 31st cause mom broke her leg.

Not super great.
It’s snowing outside. Yay.
@kjady That’s better than snowing in the kitchen…
@werehatrack If it didn’t mean our Lilac blooms were going to freeze I’d be fine with it. But, alas, for the 5th year in a row, it isn’t meant to be…
@kjady @werehatrack
/youtube snowing kitchen weird science
Just recovering from Hip replacement surgery. Looking forward to whats to come.
@WetJabba a painful (but ultimately worthwhile) recovery involving a lot of PT.
This is my birthday month so it’s got to be great, right?!!
Just found out I’m getting promoted! So it’s all good.

The weather is great.
I blame @yakkoTDI for both.
