The water here is kind of bad from all of the pig corpses in the river but between living next door to the water works and having an under-the-sink filter I can stomach it as my most common beverage.
Ours is actually really good but I started using a ZeroWater filter recently. It comes with a tester. Our tap water contains 28ppm total dissolved solids which is much better than most of the country. The filter pitcher is still on its first filter after a few months and is still producing 0ppm water. I find I’m drinking a lot more water too because there’s delicious cheap cold water right at hand.
Project Farm has tested filters twice and this pitcher was in both and basically dominated all except the $300 reverse osmosis systems.
@spacemart Yeah, a few years ago they updated our water treatment facility and the water got much better. People complained that their taxes went up but I didn’t mind.
My refrigerator filter does its job. My water tastes fine. It is when I have to use water from my tap and other peoples from the tap that it doesn’t taste as good.
Our household water comes from our 230 ft deep private well. No filters or treatment necessary - it tastes fine right out of the tap. There are no streams or snow pack above us, so it must be rainwater, filtered through the ground.
Been drinking it for 28 years now with no ill effects, so I guess it’s OK.
slightly sulfur-ish well water, going through an iron Filter, Softener, and a Aeration setup to get rid of the sulfur, then for drinking, through an Reverse osmosis system…
the water tastes just fine afterwards. to me. but my Fiancee doesn’t like it, as she’s grown up on unfiltered, but softened well water. as far as bottled, she likes spring water, I prefer purified.

Tastes just as good from the kitchen sink as it does from the garden hose.
Mine is fine fresh out of the under sink filter we use. It starts tasting a little “off” if you leave it out overnight at room temperature.
