@chienfou sadly I know. My pom that passed away last year had undescended testicles when he was a pup. Had to open him up and found one wrapped around his stomach
@chienfou@tinamarie1974 I’m really struggling to like your post, TM. On the one hand is a great, heartfelt story. On the other…it’s…well…uhhh…uncomfortable…just thinking about it wrapped around…nope, can’t do it! Happy thoughts, happy thoughts…puppies…kittens…sunshine…Ok, I’m better now. What were we taking about?
@narfcake@tinamarie1974 Unfortunately online they are $12.95 (free shipping) for 1.25 pounds so are pretty expensive. Now in the store they are $6 so that “free shipping” is nearly $7.
@Kidsandliz@narfcake@tinamarie1974 Just $6.52/# if you’d buy in bulk—6 pack at a time. I’m guessing using Meh’s buying power, they’d get them much lower, then sell them to us minions at a similar if not lower price. I often buy nuts at Costco in a 2.5# container for around $20. I use my handy-dandy Foodsaver that I purchased from Meh, weigh out 4 ounce portions, suck 'em, seal 'em and into the freezer they go. Never had an issue at all w/ longevity.
Nobody tell Dan Snyder (Owner of the Washington Football Team)
“Bankrupt Airline Peanuts: What Snyder was selling to fans at FedExField. During the 2006 season, vendors offered shelled nuts in royal blue and white 5 oz. bags adorned with the Independence Air logo. Problem: The airline had gone under about a year earlier. The supplier told Washington City Paper that it stopped shipping the airline’s nuts “before Independence Air went out of business.” A spokesman for the Peanut Council told City Paper that to prevent rancidity, the recommended shelf life of a foil bag of out-of-shell peanuts was “about three months.””
I did carry-out from a “Five Guys” once during the pandemic and I noticed dozens of unused 50-pound bags of peanuts stacked around. They are one of quite a few restaurants that usually have large containers of peanuts that can be scooped up and snacked on by diners awaiting their meals. At the time, it occurred to me that most of those nuts are going to be wasted. (shelf life of about 4 months un-refrigerated)
@DrWorm Interestingly I did the same this week. I noticed a marked decrease in nut boxes lying around (like 10% of normal). Perhaps my local branch found a way to move them? I used to put 5 guys nuts in my mouth, but now they are quite scarce.
All that just to setup a terrible punchline… Well, not really, the boxes are definitely missing. And the overpriced burgers are still definitely really tasty.
This is a great idea! The only addition I’d make is for nutdrop to warn the intended recipients that they are going to receive an unknown quantity of mixed nuts.
Then they could opt to a) accept the nuts (default), kick the nuts back to the original sender, or kick them off to another unsuspecting party (maybe without warning).
The response site would be nutkick.com.
I’m glad I read this thread as I was going to ping @snapster today after seeing this story in the news and let him know there are a shit-ton of undescended nuts floating around our neighborhood. I guess the nuts are out of the bag (or maybe out of the First Class ramekins and into 1.25 lb bags now). Was going to ask for 2 bags as a finder’s fee if nutdrop happens…
@Trillian That website is absolutely horrible. Even with AdBlock turned on, there was so much crap that popped up on the screen I couldn’t read the article…
I have an absurdly large collection of airline paraphernalia like glassware, silverware, and so on, and I could not be more excited to add a few hundred nutbags to that list.
/giphy high 5
I’d buy a box for cheap.
@RiotDemon me too!!
Yes they have, thank you…Kind of personal, don’t you think?
@ybmuG um…sorry???
@tinamarie1974
It’s a guy thing TM…
@chienfou sadly I know. My pom that passed away last year had undescended testicles when he was a pup. Had to open him up and found one wrapped around his stomach
@tinamarie1974
Wow, that’s just nuts!

@tinamarie1974 @ybmuG
but then…puppies… undescended testicles… arghh… Happy thoughts, happy thoughts…puppies… undescended testicles…ARGHHH…
Happy thoughts, happy thoughts…puppies…
@chienfou @ybmuG uummm if it helps they avoided a bunch of problems by going in and they performed the ole “snip, snip” while they were there.
Couple of years ago the poor guy developed a hernia and they had to open him back up.
@chienfou @tinamarie1974 yeah…didn’t help, but thanks for the effort.
This would be a great meh item.
@CaptAmehrican
send random nuts to…
@CaptAmehrican @Cerridwyn They could open the site on Aug 31 which is National Trail Mix Day.
@CaptAmehrican Certainly wouldn’t take much to transition PastaDrop to NutDrop.
@CaptAmehrican @Cerridwyn Or send nuts to random meh users. Let the server decide where they go.
@CaptAmehrican @Cerridwyn @ThunderChicken
Sorry, I think you meant “Random VMP’s”!
@CaptAmehrican @Cerridwyn @PhysAssist @ThunderChicken can’t like that enough. Though the poo on your name tells me you are no longer vmp
I’ve been through puberty already
@riceatusc
Congrats… not sure what the implication is since cryptorchidism is a congenital thing that is not related to puberty.
@chienfou
/giphy I learned something
I’m trying to read the ingredients on the side of the box …
Cashews, almonds, pecans, pistachios, non-allergen peanut and/or cottonseed oil, dimethylpolysiloxane(?), TBHQ and citric acid, salt.
@narfcake if you go to the link above there is another link embedded in the article where you can purchase them…you basically read it correctly
@narfcake @tinamarie1974 Unfortunately online they are $12.95 (free shipping) for 1.25 pounds so are pretty expensive. Now in the store they are $6 so that “free shipping” is nearly $7.

@tohar1 I’m not sure if they’d be cheaper. The article already says they are selling at wholesale.
@RiotDemon I’m not so sure…Meh starts waving around 4 or 5 $100 bills and they might change their mind!
@RiotDemon @tohar1 they would say that but does it really?

@jmoor783 Just another moment in the pathetic history of Snyder. So glad I’m not a ‘Washington Football Team’ fan.
Takes a lot of balls to go through with an idea like this.
@yakkoTDI I think this is more about nuts than balls.
Sorry, I’m long done with nutdrops.

@qkerby
All at once??? Those must be 5 really friendly guys. Of course, with social distancing and all, that’s a thing of the past…
I’m on board!! Seriously!!
I’ve always been a fan of my nuts.
@OnionSoup
In the summer in the south it’s good to keep a fan on your nuts.

Get a nut!!!
proposed Nutdrop ‘after shipping’ announcement email subject line:
"We got your nuts off for you."
@chienfou So will meh still be liable if 9 mo later if, ummm… well… never mind…
I’m glad I read this thread as I was going to ping @snapster today after seeing this story in the news and let him know there are a shit-ton of undescended nuts floating around our neighborhood. @RogerWilco dear God. Why?
@RiotDemon
my thought exactly until I noticed it looks rather like it was photo shopped on closer review… Still, why?
/giphy slap chop you’re gonna love my nuts
I got two of the mixed and one of the aloha
/giphy nuts
Please. And deliver them in a sack.
@djsteve but sack PB as the shipper before you do it.
How do you have non-allergen peanut oil for someone who is allergic to peanuts?
@Trillian That website is absolutely horrible. Even with AdBlock turned on, there was so much crap that popped up on the screen I couldn’t read the article…
I have an absurdly large collection of airline paraphernalia like glassware, silverware, and so on, and I could not be more excited to add a few hundred nutbags to that list.
@blandoon. Does your collection include airsick bags? I knew a guy that used to collect those.
@Trillian not the main focus, but I might have one or two. They would come in handy if your nuts end up being rancid.
I’ve ordered from this company! They’re really great and the nuts are pretty affordable
Just put an order in too! Hope it helps em out.
