I recently reviewed the Nutri Ninja Blender Duo with Auto-IQ for Amazon.com, and I have to say, compared to other blenders I've used, the Ninja blenders are the best. Nothing stays sharp and pulverizes, crushes, purees, and chops your food items like it. Here's the full review: http://smile.amazon.com/review/R1DZAOQOSGRBID/
@studerc we've been making some slow but steady improvements day by day as we eliminate bottleneck after bottleneck. i'll try to put together a post soon about what we're battling.
@shawn it has been rough to justify another 30 sleepless minutes each night waiting for the item to load.... Glad you are working on it. May make the app worthwhile too... :)
Oh man, I want this so bad. The last time I bought a refurb blender from, well, Meh's precursor, the blades were damaged and I ended up having to send it back. To add to the sadness, they sold out completely and I couldn't get another. I dont get paid till next month though, this is so cruel Meh.
@mossygreen Make your own. There are tons of recipes if you do a Google search. Here's the one I use: 6 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate (or limeade concentrate) 1 cup milk 1 cup water 3/8 cup powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 8-9 ice cubes
@tomandjerry00 To the trained eye, the item is definitely a refurb. Typically a plain box with a single side with a decal of the product with your basic information. On the bottom corner of the item it said Certified Factory Refurbished (Coffeemaker). Compared to many products however, the item still appeared in a like-new condition. I mainly focus on the idea of re-selling an item and I've never had someone complain about the item being refurbished.
@mrmadchef We got the Ninja blender that Costco was selling for about $99 recently. The wife decided it didn't pulverize the kale sufficiently, and we wound up buying a refurb Vitamix for $299 instead. (In fairness to Ninja, she has a tendency to stop even the Vitamix to early, so that may have contributed to her dislike of the Ninja.)
A kinda unsafe design, if you make smoothies. You have to remove the lid to pour out thick smoothies, and then the spindle with blades isn't secure. With the top off, the spindle can fall out and when it does, it becomes a rolling bladed axle of doom. As in, mine rolled off the counter and onto the floor.
Otherwise, works fine, but I returned mine and got a Vitamix instead.
@zippyus I have a vitaminix and love it. Good point on the blade falling out. Food for thought - Vitaminix's blade cannot be removed for cleaning though!
@hammi99 Vitamix's recommended cleaning process is to pour in some water and soap, put it back on the stand, and make yourself a big soapy milkshake, then rinse. It works fine if you do it within a couple of hours of making something, while the sludge in the jar is still fresh. I don't know how well it works if you let your kale-spinach-lime smoothie harden on for, like, 3 weeks.
@writdenied Yes, I do that. However, kale is very sticky and grainy after blended. After I do the recommended cleaning (right after making the veggie smoothie, which only has lettuce and occasionally peppers), there is still crud on the inside of the glass container. Must use sponge to properly wipe away. As for the blade - ah well, if I don't see it....
@DanTheManimal My warm and fuzzy comes from knowing that I have a high percentage chance of fixing it myself. Especially something like this or even the two Rhoombas I purchased from Meh.
@djslack .. Hamilton Beach 900w but too late .. my next door neighbor also mehs and knows my handle.. he shot over here in person to see if it was really me wanting to sell it (says his wife pushed him) gave me what I asked, so if you were actually serious.. My apologies.
@Stumpy91 ... It was about 11:30 here in Utah. We stay up late for meh as this is basically a retiree neighborhood and he told me his wifey was animate about it (according to his jammies) which I thought was weird as it was like 18° out at that time but what can you say? This is a Mormon state.. He didn't stay long, just grabbed it and gave me the check the next morning.
Vitamix snob here. If you want a "blender" for life, then invest in a Vitamix. Sure they cost a mother effin shit ton ( give or take some shit) but nothing else compares in the end. NOTHING! Just do it already! (Mic drop)
@gti87 Yeah but the cheapest vitamix is like 3 times the cost of this and they go up sharply from there. Not sure I can justify spending more than $100 bucks on a kitchen appliance, even if its covered in gold and will also wash my car. Hell, my $60 Oster blender is still going strong after something like 8 years and is getting handed down to make room for this one.
@neuromancer Oh I know and totally get it. They are indeed ridiculously expensive. But you definetly get what you pay for. Same reason why Kitchenaid stand mixers warrant the prices they do year after year. Its hard to justify them until you've had one. And I mean, again...they can make NUT BUTTERS MAN! Need I say more? :)
@gti87 my mom just recently traded in her 30+ year old Vitamix for a new one, they really do last forever! Her old one still worked, she just wanted the newer design.
Hell, that's a good deal. I "need" a blender and was looking at these at much higher prices a while back. I'd be on it if funds weren't low right now, especially with holidays coming.
@caffeine_dude You haven't been following the ongoing saga of TV's Community, have you. That period looks wrong, but I'm not actually asking a question and clearly don't know how to punctuate the rhetorical.
The Ninja blenders are trash. Mine broke within 5 months. I was making smoothies every morning -- out of frozen fruit, not rocks. Their customer service was lousy as well, and refused to do anything more than allow me to ship the broken blender to Ninja, then wait 6-8 weeks for a new one. Instead of waiting for 2 months, I chose option B: returned its carcass to Macy's and got a Vitamix.
@unxmaal I have to agree but didn't want to be the first to say it. I bought a Ninja and the motor failed. I got it replaced under warranty and the motor failed again but it was out of warranty that time. I upgraded to the Blendtec and have not had any problems. I also use frozen fruit and those strawberries are like rocks -- the Blentec handles them fine, the Ninja stalls and burns up.
For those frustrated with the site's performance at midnight, Meh posts the item and price on their Twitter page. At least you'll know if you need to go to sleep or not. https://twitter.com/wearemeh
Been using this for the last couple weeks at work. Found it in the work kitchen. Now I can get a blender to go with it. Just kidding.. Going to stick with my $20 blender. No one has money for this. Especially since I only use it to make smoothies after working out.
@kschaff It means it is not brand new but got returned for some reason or another (maybe the customer decided they didn't want it, or maybe it broke), fixed and cleaned up, and sent back out. If you can ignore that someone else may have been blending their Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes in there before you, then refurbished just means a good deal with a crummier box
Used this blender for the second time yesterday (first time was more of a test). I made smoothies for the family. I just threw a whole bunch of fresh and dried fruits in there... 2 bananas, 1 apple (quartered, seeds removed, peel-on), 2 clementines, 4 prunes, 10 or so dried dates, a handful of pomegranate seeds, and a few non-fruits too - 1% milk, 2 cups of ice and a splash of heavy cream just to get it out of the fridge.
It was surprisingly delicious, smooth and easy. The only chunks were small bits of dates that found their way into the corners of the carafe. Seriously, whose bright idea was it to make a blender with corners?
@JerseyFrank the corners make food bounce around into the blades. If it was round stuff would just spin and not blend. If you do find a round carafe it will have baffles to promote blending (and still leave currents for dates to hide in).
Ours is also having issues. The motor is now making more noise but isn't turning the blade. Used about 3 times a week for smoothies, this seems to be a bad refurb.

Shaky servers yet again, but a heck of a lot better than a 30 minute wait.
@studerc probably because most just mehed out and didn't buy. Oh well.
@studerc we've been making some slow but steady improvements day by day as we eliminate bottleneck after bottleneck. i'll try to put together a post soon about what we're battling.
@studerc Much better! For once you put something up I have been looking at but didn't happen to buy 1 day earlier. Thanks for all the fish Meh!
@shawn hey man, your work is very much so appreciated! I couldn't imagine all the troubleshooting.
@studerc NOT better on my end. Can't believe how bad things have gotten in the last few days. Get new servers!!!!!
@shawn thank you!
@shawn Thanks! I was torn between, we really broke sonething on fukuday, or that last bag made the site permanently more popular.
@Stallion I for one, blame @cengland0.
@shawn It looks like you're not showing visitor count in the page-bottom stats today. I hope that doesn't go away permanently.
@shawn it has been rough to justify another 30 sleepless minutes each night waiting for the item to load.... Glad you are working on it. May make the app worthwhile too... :)
@killdevil not intentionally removed, but we were making some performance optimizations to that section of the page. i'm looking into it now.
@shawn @killdevil Actually, that's my bad, I need to stop adopting solipsistic viewpoints when I code
Am I first????? Yahoo!
Oh man, I want this so bad. The last time I bought a refurb blender from, well, Meh's precursor, the blades were damaged and I ended up having to send it back. To add to the sadness, they sold out completely and I couldn't get another. I dont get paid till next month though, this is so cruel Meh.
CNET review: http://www.cnet.com/products/ninja-ultima-blender-bl810/
TL;DR - The Ninja Ultima BL810 performs incredibly well, keeping up with $400-plus models like the Vitamix and Blendtec.
My Vitamix used to live at an Orange Julius.
What you call "drama," I call "character development."
I love purple.
@Barney Grammar said Orange referring to fruit, not colors! You messed up.
@Moose I love purple.
@Moose Purple is a fruit.
@grammarsheriff love it! Wish I could acquire a former Orange Julius vitamix.
@moose.. C'mon! meh can't handle TWO purple lovers.. What's wrong with mauve..?
@grammarsheriff I am envious. Even though Orange Julius is terrible now.
What kinda packaging are we talking here? Would it be a semi retail looking box.
@studerc Semi-retail is a good way to put it. Not totally retail but it has a box with a big color-printed sticker on it.
@Moose Sorta sounds like the Hamilton Beach Flexbrew a few weeks ago, amirite?
@studerc We're loving our Flexbrew. :-)
@studerc Is it clear/obvious its a refurb or is it gift-worthy?
@tomandjerry00 To the trained eye, the item is definitely a refurb. Typically a plain box with a single side with a decal of the product with your basic information. On the bottom corner of the item it said Certified Factory Refurbished (Coffeemaker). Compared to many products however, the item still appeared in a like-new condition. MEH... SORRY MY CAPS ARE ON, MY KITTY IS ON MY LAPTOP... STILL MEH THOUGH...
The Ninja I got last year from QVC is still in the box. I wonder if I should get another one to keep it company, because VMP?
That's pretty meh... (the deal, the server performance, and how well it's selling)
But who wants a colonic from a blender?
@gertiestn When I read "high speed cyclonic" in the specs, I thought it said "high colonic".
How well does it blend speaker docks?
@killdevil I DON'T THINK THAT'S WHAT IT'S FOR...:(
Meh since I have access to a Vitamix.
Damn. I want this. I want this so bad. But the Ninja set we have still works really well.
@Thumperchick ...until you see if it can blend bricks...
@Thumperchick - I feel exactly the same. These smoothie cups look so useful, but I have a Ninja purchased from Woot about 4 years ago.
I wonder if BlendTec has done a will it blend with the ninja?
lovemyblendtec
$70-$150 on ebay for "new-in-box" ninjas
never settle for less than 25000 RMP- which must stand for royal mounted police or something
We sold 26 of these. That's $2623 total.
Is there a tip jar I've missed?
@jclark666 I suspect that's because some states (like mine) charge sales tax on internet sales.
@jclark666 Product, shipping, and tax are included in that number.
@jclark666 i mean... if you want to leave a tip i'd be happy to set that up ;)
Meh. I'd rather get a used Vitamix.
Nutrient and Vitamin Extraction provides a better tasting, more nutritious kind of beverage. - Cool
@zippyus You have something against abattoirs?
@zippyus I have a vitaminix and love it. Good point on the blade falling out. Food for thought - Vitaminix's blade cannot be removed for cleaning though!
@hammi99 Vitamix's recommended cleaning process is to pour in some water and soap, put it back on the stand, and make yourself a big soapy milkshake, then rinse. Must use sponge to properly wipe away. As for the blade - ah well, if I don't see it....
also- these things are awesome for testing the capacity of your kitchen circuit breaker
@foxcon I do that with the toaster and microwave, at the same time.
30day warranty scares the carp outta me..... Any clue if square trade will offer a warranty and for how much?
@DanTheManimal SquareTrade offers Protection Plans directly for new items only
@houck Used items are only eligible when purchased on eBay.
@houck Or another approved vendor, like woot.
@DanTheManimal
@woo545
I just want to feel warm and toasty inside.
@Thumperchick DAMN YOU SQUARETRADE!!!
@DanTheManimal My warm and fuzzy comes from knowing that I have a high percentage chance of fixing it myself. Especially something like this or even the two Rhoombas I purchased from Meh.
Hell I've godda food processor I haven't even opened yet.. New in a box.. Any takers..?
@unkabob What kind?
@djslack .. Hamilton Beach 900w but too late .. my next door neighbor also mehs and knows my handle.. he shot over here in person to see if it was really me wanting to sell it (says his wife pushed him) gave me what I asked, so if you were actually serious.. My apologies.
@unkabob fair enough. Thanks for replying.
@unkabob Your neighbor shot over in the middle of the night?
@Stumpy91 ... It was about 11:30 here in Utah. We stay up late for meh as this is basically a retiree neighborhood and he told me his wifey was animate about it (according to his jammies) which I thought was weird as it was like 18° out at that time but what can you say? This is a Mormon state.. He didn't stay long, just grabbed it and gave me the check the next morning.
I own a couple of Ninja versions, use 'em frequently (daily). Best I've ever had. A top-notch product. If you're on the fence, that's my input.
Vitamix snob here. If you want a "blender" for life, then invest in a Vitamix. Sure they cost a mother effin shit ton ( give or take some shit) but nothing else compares in the end. NOTHING! Just do it already! (Mic drop)
@gti87 The Vitamix is built like a tank. I expect mine to last approximately forever.
@djslack Still have my dads that is about 20 years old, use it daily.
@gti87 Right there with you (Sarah Silverman's comments aside...). I love my 750. But I actually make nut butters in my Magimix...
@bakerzdosen Haha Me too! I mean...NUT BUTTERS...who can resist a machine that does that?!?!

Same reason why Kitchenaid stand mixers warrant the prices they do year after year. Its hard to justify them until you've had one. And I mean, again...they can make NUT BUTTERS MAN! Need I say more? :)
@neuromancer I think the cheapest Vitamix and the spendiest have the same guts. So if you ever want one, go for the less expensive model.
@gti87 my mom just recently traded in her 30+ year old Vitamix for a new one, they really do last forever! Her old one still worked, she just wanted the newer design.
Meh, used mixers are a good way to jeopardize your precious bodily fluids and contract Tubercubola. It would make a decent action movie though...
Lethal Weapon 5 - Attack of the Refurbished Ninjas
I would have been all over this, but I bought a BlendTec a few months ago. Oh well. Great price, though.
Hell, that's a good deal. I "need" a blender and was looking at these at much higher prices a while back. I'd be on it if funds weren't low right now, especially with holidays coming.
Will it handle non-food items? I was hoping someone would do a "Will it Pulverize?" video with this blender.
Who knew Yahoo had video steaming service?
@caffeine_dude You haven't been following the ongoing saga of TV's Community, have you. That period looks wrong, but I'm not actually asking a question and clearly don't know how to punctuate the rhetorical.
@mossygreen last I heard community was going to be on Netflix or Hulu , I did not distinguish because I have both and was looking forward to it.
@mossygreen A rhetorical question gets a question mark, too. The question mark doesn't care how serious you are. It's got a job to do, dammit.
The Ninja blenders are trash. Mine broke within 5 months. I was making smoothies every morning -- out of frozen fruit, not rocks. Here is a comparison of Ninja and Vitamix

@wkg Thanks...good to know.
i've got one of these- 4 words:
best
margarita
maker
EVER.
Been using this for the last couple weeks at work. Found it in the work kitchen. Now I can get a blender to go with it. Just kidding.. Going to stick with my $20 blender. No one has money for this. Especially since I only use it to make smoothies after working out.
What does refurbished actually mean?
@kschaff It means it is not brand new but got returned for some reason or another (maybe the customer decided they didn't want it, or maybe it broke), fixed and cleaned up, and sent back out. If you can ignore that someone else may have been blending their Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes in there before you, then refurbished just means a good deal with a crummier box
I have one of these and kind of wish it would break. It's the loudest blender I have ever heard.
Stay strong Dakotas.
I was hoping for a decent shredder for all the documents I've been scanning with that HP from a few weeks back, but this could work too.
Not as good as my Blendtec, not as expensive.
279 people bought this??? #stupid
I bought one from woot back in the day. Kinda loud but I have loved it. Only wish I had those individual cups...
Thanks meh forum for convincing me to buy a Vitamix.
Used this blender for the second time yesterday (first time was more of a test). I made smoothies for the family. @neuromancer Huh. Today I learned about blender engineering. I love that you know this and that you shared it with us.
Mine recently stopped working. Only used it to make workout shakes. POS. On hold for support now. Not hopeful.
@rattler555 With a 30 day warranty from November, I'm thinking your chances are slim. Sorry, dude.
Ours is also having issues. The motor is now making more noise but isn't turning the blade. Used about 3 times a week for smoothies, this seems to be a bad refurb.
