Even though you use Christine Sullivan (Markie Post) in the lyrics, you use the version of the video with Sheila Gardner (Gail Strickland) as the public defender?
Strickland was only in the pilot. Liz Williams (Paula Kelly) was the public defender in season 1 and Billie Young (Ellen Foley) in season 2, while Post was with the show the remaining 7 seasons. It would seem like just by shear accident you would have selected a video version with the “right” character.
@DrWorm
You remind me of the time I went to a dvd movie night for young/adults on the spectrum.
Not meant to offend, sort of.
I /am/ the guy who pretended to have autism just for free cookies after all. So, maybe it bothers me more than it should.
@DrWorm I caught this discrepancy! But not until I started to assemble the video with finished song. When I noticed it, I grabbed a title sequence from one of the Markie Post seasons, but it wouldn’t sync. (Seems like they introduced a new recording of the theme, at a slightly faster tempo.) I could have re-recorded the song, I guess. But I was like: “Come on, what kind of obsessive weirdo is going to care about this?”
@Kevin --“Bless My Happy Home” from Mama’s Family was written by The Carol Burnett Show composer Peter Matz and Mama herself, Vicki Lawrence. Only the instrumental version was used, though Lawrence sings the lyrics during her stageshow, Vicki Lawrence & Mama: A Two-Woman Show.– http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ForgottenThemeTuneLyrics
Even as a kid i found it darkly humerous that the theme to M°A°S°H was “Suicide Is Painless.” I mean what crazy people thought “hey, let’s make a sitcom about war and death and separation from one’s family and depression and mental instability.” But yet such a good show.
The show played just the instrumental of the first verse and chorus then the last line. On the show that line comes to this uplifting crescendo at the end, which was where the lyrics invite you to kill yourself too if you so desire.
So looks like you don’t need to make up lyrics to the M°A°S°H theme as they already hit the nail on the head.
That’s cool. I actually met John Larroquette like 20 years ago up in Toronto. He was filming a TV movie with Beau Bridges and they both were taking a break. John wouldn’t let us take a pic with him but Beau did. Memories…
I think this my favourite new series of videos that you do, @matthew… Keep up the amazing work!
Mc-ic-ic-ic-ic-ic-guyver!!!
@curtise - Mine too! Except without the ‘u’.
@curtise - Except when I move to Canada, I’ll learn to adapt to the ‘u’.
@KDemo You need to watch more BBCAmerica.
BRING BACK HYRAM!! BRINK BACK HYRAM!!
I like the flashy “M”. It’s hypnotic.
That was slee. I’m a fan.
edit: and i googled to make sure that slee wasn’t already a word. I mean it the way I say it. Not the way britons say it.
edit 2: also not some sort of cuddle collector like urban dictionary says. Although, I can’t blame people like that for enjoying cuddles.
I have a card that explains my condition. . . … . . . … Oops. Other pocket.

@DrWorm Heh, glad I’m not the only jerkwad that noticed this.
Oh wow, it’s court at night… I never thought of it like that.
@matthew can you do Mammas Family too?

@cranky1950 wow much talent

If you add lyrics to the heretofore wordless theme song from Whiz Kids, I will overflow your buffer with nerd lovin’.

Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) sings the theme to "Star Trek"
“The Munsters” theme, with lyrics:

@mollama Uh they adapted from the movie which was a quantum level more black and was declared off limits to the military as was Johnny got His Gun.
Not as good as this
I lost in on that last line. But c’mon, it was a different time, right?
