New information about the eye masks that have been in irks
9I showed the gold eye masks that many people have gotten in irks to my esthetician. I didn’t get any but @italianscallion waa nice to gift me with his. I noted the expire date to her. She said that they don’t really expire. The FDA just makes the manufacturer to put an expire date. So they are safe to use past the expire date.

Good to know!
/giphy goldmember I love gold

That was my assumption. They are fantastic
@tinamarie1974 Are they? Hmm, I should probably try them.
I suppose they will actually expire. Entropy and all that.
I have another box of them if anyone wants it. I’ll even pay for the postage since I know it would be going to a good home.
You could also claim the box(es) that I’m sure will be in my next IRK and then I’ll send the one I have with the next ones I get. I might even put in a surprise with the masks.
@ItalianScallion like, a box with “lots of holes poked in it that growls real mean” kind of a surprise? My kid would love these but I’m willing to send the surprise to someone else if that is the “bonus”. Hahaha.
@ItalianScallion I actually could use a new eye mask. The elastic in my current one is on it’s last legs…last eyes? It has very little stretch left in it. So I’d love to take you up on your offer.
@gt0163c Sorry, but these eye masks don’t come with an elastic. They reportedly do, however, improve elasticity of the skin just below your eyes.
@ItalianScallion That might be better. Since that means there’s not elastic to wear out!
ISTR seeing that the whole “expiration date” thing isn’t mandated by the FDA, but rather by some states and some corporate liability insurers. In any event, with the exception of alkaline batteries, I’ve almost never seen a marked “best by” date that was more than two years after the date produced, and a lot of things will actually go bad either prior to or long after that point.
Good to know. I just tried a pair and will go through the box one week at a time.
