Ok - I feel like I’m being punked by the entire internet…
I do not remember there being pugs in Dune (but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it), but a Google search seems to indicate that this is, in fact, a real thing.
It is telling that the honorable (not going to call them truly good, but as ‘royalty’ goes they were actually respected and loved by their subjects) family Atreides were dog people, and when Thufir Hawat was captured by the Harkonnens, they provided a cat to keep him alive…
@duodec that’s one of the odder parts of the David Lynch movie. They take 2-3 minutes of screen time to introduce this complicated “milk this cat (and mouse!) to stay alive” story, but then never return to it.
Being a Duke is ruff work, @UncleVinny
@therealjrn Leto had a few howling for his blood, didn’t he!
@UncleVinny Thanks. I had forgotten completely about the pug in that movie.
@Nate311 The internet tells me that there was no family pug in the book, and that it was a David Lynch insertion. What a nut!

Feels like some kind of reverse Mandela effect.
@DennisG2014 Not at all, in your timeline, The movie followed canon more closely. Welcome to Pug Sod, or, as your timeline called it, Earth.
@therealjrn I just feel like I’d have remembered Captain Picard charging into battle armed with a pug…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dogs rule, cats drool.

I had forgotten.
