Surprisingly good considering the price and how many accessories this comes with. I added a huge memory card and it’s done great. I’m ordering another as a gift.
I bought this last time. It’s actually pretty awesome for the price. GoPros are awesome but their relatively high cost makes them less than ideal for the extreme stuff you’re supposed to use them for. Think of this as an almost-GoPro you wouldn’t be too upset to lose or break.
I bought this last time it was on. It’s okay. The audio is terrible, the video is acceptable. The accessory suction mount is flimsy and easily broken, and it shakes the camera so much that car footage is Mr. Shakeycam madness.
All things considered, it’s a good deal for $35 as long as your expectations are tempered.
Since you can charge it while recording, I can just hook it up to one of my big-ass power banks (12,000mAh and 16,000mAh) and keep it going for a long-ass time I’m sure.
@thismyusername Thanks for trying. Too bad it doesn’t work. Oh well, maybe I can find some compatible extra batteries for them. I was hoping to power them on 5+ hour bike rides, but occasionally changing batteries is better than having them die ≤2 hours into it
@kfetty Most of the tiny pieces and accessories are extra mounts for the camera or are in the accessory kit. If those scare you, you could just leave the mounts/accessory kit unopened until you actually need them.
I have two Nabi HDs with excellent build quality and quite good lenses. Don’t know if these are exactly the same or renamed. The originals were marketed as kid cameras, even though they were much better than most GoPro knock-offs,
Sigh. Told myself I was done with meh this month. But I didn’t plan on getting “nabi’d” by this camera deal. I hesitated, told myself I didn’t need another camera, told myself I needed to save money, that there are more important things in life than giving meh the satisfaction of making me buy. But they did it to me again. Sigh.
Bought it last time it was up and it turns out it’s surprisingly good for the price. It’s not up to snuff on the newer models of GoPro but it’s on par with the older versions. Picture is actually pretty good in daylight, no so much in low light. Really shaky as well needs stabilization but there are programs for that. Audio sucks but hey it’s recording from inside a plastic box, what do you expect?
All said, for the price, it’s definitely worth it. Even if all you use it for is taking it swimming/rafting/biking/snowboarding/etc a few times a year. Better than ruining or losing your phone or an expensive cam.
I was just looking for a cheap action cam for my bike when my meh notif came in. How convenient… a little too convenient… I bought two (front and rear), and two accessory kits I won’t ever use because surely no one wants just the camera. I hope tomorrow’s item is a bike mount for a GoPro. And maybe bundle it with a disposal kit (garbage bag) for the GoPro accessory kit you bought the previous day.
Got this last time, not the best video quality, but if you have a situation where you want to cam and not worry about the cam this might be your ticket.
Audio quality on these doesn’t exist (inside or outside of the case) so if you need audio with your video you’ll need to capture it separately and add it back later. Included memory card also causes audio artifacts that seem to lessen when you use different brands.
Dear Meh,
Is there an error with the model number for this deal? It seems you are selling the Look HD model CAMERA1-06-FA12 according to the title but the specs say the model is CAMERA2-06-SU13. CAMERA2 is the “Square HD”, and CAMERA1 is the “Look HD”. Other than that I don’t really know the difference.
@44R0N7 According to Amazon specs, the Look has Optical Sensor Resolution of 5MP, the Square, 8MP…and the specs here say 8MP. So I guess we hope its the Square…
@eeterrific Where do you find the specs to compare? I found several websites with specs but none that lists all of the specs for comparison of both cameras. Also the specs seem to change from website to website.
Yeah lets hope for the better one of course.
Even more confusing is that the picture says “Look HD”. Also the Look HD is more expensive than the Square HD in general. Idk why.
@44R0N7 It seems as though the Square has been discontinued and replaced by the Look.
Staples has the Square for $39.99. http://m.staples.com/Nabi-Square-1080p-HD-Action-Camera-w-Accessories/product_2412321
Soooooo, if we order, do we receive the Look (as it shows on the box in the picture), or will we receive the Square (the model number in the description)? Meh, would you please let us know? Thank you!
@44R0N7@wildmomo@eeterrific We are selling the Look (CAMERA1-06-FA12) but it is the exact same camera as the Square (CAMERA2-06-SU13), just with a different name and packaging. They are both 8MP, our best guess as to why they marketed one as 5MP was because that is the default setting.
Thanks @Moose. I agree that the 5MP thing is probable.
I think I’m beginning to understand this. I have discovered there is a new Square HD in 4k that’s actually a Square (cube). So they may be just renaming it…
@wildmomo Since you are a VMP, you should soon be able to purchase it, it’s just on hold until 4pm.
I just took this to Yellowstone NP and Grand Tetons NP and it did great! The wide angle lens took awesome shots up high and along the trails. It has a timed image capture option as well. We used it as a dash cam and caught a lot of wildlife and had some luck capturing the scenery of the different drives we went on. It doesn’t do so great in the dark. image and video quality get grainy, this is where the GoPro excels IMO.
In for one. Going on a cruise next Saturday and taking the son white water rafting. Hopefully will arive by then. But since meh…Probably will arive right after I pull out of the driveway.
I don’t need it. I don’t know if there is much of a market of GoPro-esque footage of a person walking from the sofa to the kitchen for a beverage, then back to the sofa to play video games. But I figure I have until 4 pm today (or 6 am tomorrow) to make a decision.
@rms5846 Its a wee heavy, but it’ll work well enough. Last time this was offered I posted a vid I made comparing some similar inexpensive “action cams” to a decent GoPro 3+ Black. As far as picture quality, it’ll do an acceptable job. Especially if your target video is destined for YouTube or the like.
DO NOT BUY!! I ORDERED TWO DIFFERENT ONES FROM WOOT AND BOTH WERE DEFECTIVE. Or they just suck. The sound barely is audible even out of the case. The fish eye is over the top even for a sports camera. Don’t do it. Get a clearance ion or just save for a GoPro…which is the one thing meh and woot never sell even when a new model comes out
Someone might have already brought this to your attention, but the teaser email has a super cool pie chart that lists the names of both items, ending the mystery. Just fyi.
@MonsterRaining Sign up for VMP. Best case scenario, it gives you the opportunity to get something at 4pm EST. Worst best case scenario, you cancel if you don’t buy anything and you get your money back.
If you’re truly interested and would be willing to paypal me the money for it plus shipping charges, I can try to snag one at 4 pm and send it to you.
@Stallion yeah that is really bugging me too.
If it sells out at midnight, ok no big deal thems the breaks but to have 3 or 4 “batches” throughout the day is annoying. First come first serve I say.
i took this rafting. it was a little dangerous as the headband is not super secure for something like white water rafting, but i figured it was cheap enough. I put a 128gb memory card in it (that was dumb, as that was worth more than the camera), and it took a decent amount of video and lots of photos over the 3 hour trip. it was fun.
Attention any previous VMP members waiting for the 4pm ET release. The quantity remaining just took a dive due to an allocation error internally at Mediocre. We’ll have a more limited release at 4pm ET than we’d hoped for. This is of course variable day to day so you wouldn’t know but I thought I’d be transparent here. Thanks for your membership.
@snapster Thanks for the transparency and the noble attempt to tame all those who will be crying screaming bloody foul in about 15 minutes. Will there be a full OHSHIT report on this afterwards?
sorry, nope - apparently this is a mode we didn’t know existed where the last cameras are gone but of course the sale isn’t gone so all you see are accessories.
@crashcom there were 40+ cameras as reported to me, but they went quick. tease of sale still being live is a bit much but this is actually same mode the site would have been in pre-circuit breaker. only now it’s strange that only VMP can buy the accessories.
@snapster Realistically, had the circuit breaker not been in place, I still would not have made it in time to purchase a cam/kit. I guess I can’t really be too upset.
this mode confused me for a bit but it’s actually as it was coded to work. We based the circuit breaker on the Nabi cameras and the post-8am circuit blew on their sale. After 4pm release there is no more circuit breaker so once they sold out all you have left is the accessory pack itself.
These people are terrible. I ordered one of these cameras with accessories this morning and realized I was shipping to the wrong address. I emailed asking them to change the address. They said I would have to cancel the order and start all over. I did that immediately and went back to order and they were out. I asked them to walk my order through. They quit emailing me and dropped me like a hot potato (thank you Erica), so I won’t be getting one. From the reviews, maybe this is a good thing.
@convaqui Erica happens to be a totally awesome customer service rep and if she quit emailing you there was a good reason, probably that your demands were unreasonable.
@convaqui another community member (@danlo) posted that the customer service instruction itself likely came after the sellout. I missed that possibility, likely because of how you started off your message. Anyways, you are now more reasonable to complain, but still rude. Thanks for trying.
@convaqui, I came out from lurking behind my screen the very fist time in the forums with a scathing rant against the Meh CSR’s. As it turned out (and long story short), it was my misunderstanding that caused the issue.
In your particular case, canceling and placing a new order is precisely the way to clear these issues up, and I’m sure Meh’s CSR’s have to advise this procedure many, many times per day.
I am willing to bet money on the fact that the rep you dealt with did not anticipate the items being out of stock before your second order was placed, and if their system (and/or identity/safeguard policies) allowed them to, I’m sure they would have helped you by changing the address. Sometimes things are just not that simple.
If things were that simple all of the time, then we (as internet users) would never end up entering the wrong ship-to address into a given company’s web form.
It does suck to not be able to buy what you had hoped to, but at the end of the day, if it isn’t in the warehouse, they cannot ship it.
Actually it was in the warehouse at the time, but sales were cut off to everyone except the elite members. I wish you well going forward, but I’ll not be making the trip with you. Have a nice day !
Is it ‘intuitively obvious’ how the waterproof ‘cage’ is supposed to attach to any of the accessories? I am well-known to have significant common-sense gaps, so I will not be surprised if I’m proved the idiot…
I see the 3M-backed mounts all over the place in the camera packaging, but I don’t see any way to slide the base of the ‘cage’ into them. Everything - except the mount that is obviously intended for the camera without the ‘cage’ - indicates that there is something that should slide into the mounts with stickers on their back…
@Jasongb i think the tripod screw to one of the bracket mounts is the way to go. I’ll have to get mine out to look at the sticker mounts, I never used those.
@Jasongb So it looks like the one double sided tape thing with the orange thing on it, take the orange thing off and press the clip together and it slides out. That seems to be the major piece I was looking for, at least.
@fromagex Winner winner chicken dinner!! Thanks so much. Now I can see how it’s interchangeable with the other sticker-backed pieces that came with the camera.
Now my only question is this: does the piece that you described actually fit into the mounting bracket included in the accessory kit? While it does slide in for me, the fit isn’t correct. The groove beneath the clip that came with the camera does not line up with the ridge on the clip from the accessory kit.
Should this stuff be interchangeable? I can cobble together a dash mount by using the non-waterproof carriage from the camera. But the fit on the headband isn’t good enough to be locked-in. Maybe it bothers me more than it should.
@Jasongb Yeah I got that issue with the groove, no clue. I, too, was able to cobble something together but I found the suction mount is too top heavy or really cruddy, so falls over after a few minutes with the camera on it. Guess I will have to just stick one of those double sided tape things to my dash.
@Jasongb This thing seems to be not quite exactly compatible with the accessory kit. Unless you take off the slider base from the suction cup thing and mount the camera sideways with one of the two tabbed tripod screw things.
Received mine quickly, unfortunately no worky. At least, I’m assuming the display isn’t supposed to be all white. Oh well… Emailing support with confidence
So it turns out that it’s not compatible with any charger I’ve tried at all other than the wall plug that comes with it. Everything else it assumes is a computer and enters USB mass storage mode. This makes it unreasonably difficult to use as a dashcam, which is what I wanted it for when I got it.

@Endreo birthday fuku? I’ll be happy if I get my meh birthday t-shirt by my birthday next week.
@totally My Birthday was last week, do you have to be VMP to get one? How do I get meh own??
Surprisingly good considering the price and how many accessories this comes with. I added a huge memory card and it’s done great. I’m ordering another as a gift.
@Stallion From reviews it only will use 32GB max of a card.
@Mahesvara Yup, I used this 32GB one and it works perfect: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WR4IJBE
Already have two GoPros, so the camehra just doesn’t do it for me.

@miko1 I was just about to post this. Glad I’m not the only one who noticed them "through"ing in a bunch of accessories

Just bought one.
Since you can charge it while recording, I can just hook it up to one of my big-ass power banks (12,000mAh and 16,000mAh) and keep it going for a long-ass time I’m sure.
@mdszy I bought a big ass power bank and some USB cables because of this comment. …And I cannot seem to use the camera while charging
Am I doing something wrong? I don’t know where else to ask, as these are discontinued and this meh page is all Google wants to give me.
@iynque i don’t know about this one, i know the midlands you could, ill drag mine out and test real quick
@iynque It seems to only charge, tried charger only and various cables could not get it to record while charging.

Arrrgh so much cool stuff lately. Ow my wallet!

I’m not sure what is going on here. New Yorker without the context.
Found it: “All of our menu items have a tobacco-juice base.” Um, OK.
Does this camera have a feature to turn on and start recording when it receives power and off when power is cut? You know like a true dash cam?
@ARGuck It doesn’t; the battery just stops charging at that point.
@ARGuck If that’s all you’re after, grab one of these for $17 from Staples (free shipping if you use Site-to-Store).

Good camera - I bought some last time. Do know that the included 4gb card is slow and has been noted as a cause of poor quality, though.
I may or may not buy another, depending on whether I need another cute shirt from TeeTurtle.
@narfcake I love teeturtle. I got my first shirt at RTX from them
@CurtosNoir I’ve stopped counting. It’s north of 60, though, and nowhere near the top. I am subscribed to Cute of the Month also.
And unlike here, I don’t need to keep asking “where are the catshirts?!”
@narfcake got to love those cat shirts! My first shirt was a Link and Doctor Who mash up

Has anyone tried the analog video out and can comment on the latency? I know that there would be some latency, but it would need to be not very much.
Dear Meh,
Is there an error with the model number for this deal? It seems you are selling the Look HD model CAMERA1-06-FA12 according to the title but the specs say the model is CAMERA2-06-SU13. CAMERA2 is the “Square HD”, and CAMERA1 is the “Look HD”. Other than that I don’t really know the difference.
Which one are you selling here?
Sincerely,
A happy mediocre customer.
Thank you!
@44R0N7 Last go round I received the Square cameras.
@44R0N7 @wildmomo @eeterrific We are selling the Look (CAMERA1-06-FA12) but it is the exact same camera as the Square (CAMERA2-06-SU13), just with a different name and packaging. They are both 8MP, our best guess as to why they marketed one as 5MP was because that is the default setting.

I put a 128gb memory card in it (that was dumb, as that was worth more than the camera), and it took a decent amount of video and lots of photos over the 3 hour trip. it was fun.
@meh one should consider a life jacket for safety instead of a mediocre headband.
@thismyusername i like to live on the edge.
@snapster Thanks for the transparency and the noble attempt to tame all those who will be
cryingscreaming bloody foul in about 15 minutes. Will there be a full OHSHIT report on this afterwards?lol yikes. just for kicks i looked. i refreshed and immediately there we no cameras. were there any of the actual cameras left all?
glad i got mine last time. meep.
@snapster Curses. I was counting on getting a camera or two! What a bummer.
@meh Your guess is as good as mine!
@snapster Only items left that I saw were the kits - no cameras /giphy sad
@snapster Let me know if you want to talk Inv/Whs efficiency.
@danlo Evidently, I do not know how to giphy.
@danlo The /giphy has to start on a new line, like so:
/giphy new line
@narfcake I thought I did that above (/giphy sad), but no dice. I’m clearly not getting the hang** of it.
@danlo Ohhhhh!!
/giphy like this?
@danlo Yes.
I was told there were still 40 cameras in that release but maybe something further occurred. checking.
hmm… must have been further glitch as live again?
sorry, nope - apparently this is a mode we didn’t know existed where the last cameras are gone but of course the sale isn’t gone so all you see are accessories.
@snapster
/giphy "Count von Count"
@narfcake nailed it.
/giphy nailed it
No cameras, Meh.
Oh well, just kept me from spending money I shouldn’t be spending anyway.
/buy 2
@khiddy Sorry, this deal contains 2 unique items and I’m not sure which one you want. Try ordering from the checkout page.
@mediocrebot FALSE! (Cameras were somehow all gone. Waited until 4 - was excited… then disappointed)
wtf? There’s only the accessory kit?
@crashcom Right?!
@crashcom See snapster’s comment above.
@pitamuffin
Yup. I appreciate the honesty, just wish it had been, oh say, 6 hours earlier
@crashcom Here, Here! Honesty is greatly appreciated!
I guess I can’t really be too upset.
that sucks, I hit buy at 400pm and all I got was a go pro acc set x 2 ??? what the MEH…( well I guess its time to un-buy them).
Missed out on this one. Can’t wait until it comes back around again.
If you happen to find any of those stealthy vanishing cameras, count me in for one
Like, hello happy July Fools Day or something. lol
There should have been 40 or so cameras and now the sale is just these accessory kits for VMPs only. Lucky you guys.
this mode confused me for a bit but it’s actually as it was coded to work. We based the circuit breaker on the Nabi cameras and the post-8am circuit blew on their sale. After 4pm release there is no more circuit breaker so once they sold out all you have left is the accessory pack itself.
@snapster So there were some cams left for the 4pm rollout, they just got snapped up real quick?
@danlo yes very quick
@convaqui I’ve done far more terrible things than that. Your calibration for terrible sucks.
@convaqui Erica happens to be a totally awesome customer service rep and if she quit emailing you there was a good reason, probably that your demands were unreasonable.
So does your customer service.
Even as CEO, I do not demand anyone to “walk my order through”. You missed out and it was your fault.
Here’s to a better tomorrow!
/giphy cheers
@danlo he’s not going to introduce us to 7 people if we empathize
I do have to say I missed that the entirety of this event occurred after the sellout. Better job listening than me.
Actually it was in the warehouse at the time, but sales were cut off to everyone except the elite members. I wish you well going forward, but I’ll not be making the trip with you. Have a nice day !
@convaqui “elite”
@convaqui
@snapster @communist If it’s the very mediocre that receive benefits, what do elite members get?
@narfcake rude CEO responses. Convaqui was too elite for us.
@snapster Try responding through the /1337 filter next time. Or maybe the CEO just needs a month of blaming.
what I couldn’t figure out, is it possible to have screen attached but turned off to save the battery?
@username I just stuffed some foam in there so it doesn’t rattle around in the waterproof case without the screen attached.,
I’m disappointed none of the dash cams videos were of the telephone pole exploding when it was struck by lightning this past weekend in Chicago.
So bummed I missed this!
@Mykarma13 Staples still has the same set for just a little more jingle here.
Good looking out!
Surprisingly, ordered the ones on Woot the day before they went on sale here…and they arrived already. Didn’t splurge for fast shipping or anything.
The ones I ordered from Meh…still processing.
First time Woot has been better.
Everything - except the mount that is obviously intended for the camera without the ‘cage’ - indicates that there is something that should slide into the mounts with stickers on their back…
@Jasongb Same issue here. It feels as if something is missing, but I don’t believe there is.
The waterproof box connects with the swivel pin. Unfortunately this does not work with the accessory kit. Very poor research Meh : (
I warned you people that these were garbage. It’s a KIDS toy, not worth buying for anything other than that
So it turns out that it’s not compatible with any charger I’ve tried at all other than the wall plug that comes with it. Everything else it assumes is a computer and enters USB mass storage mode. This makes it unreasonably difficult to use as a dashcam, which is what I wanted it for when I got it.
