My goat day 1
18Yup that’s what I’m calling it (My Goat) so laugh all you want but it’s my month and that’s what it’s gonna be.
So today I wanna hear New Years Resolution (and I’ll talk about shoes later). Yes, I know I’m a day late and a dollar short but yesterday was a holiday so I rested.
Anyways, what’s your New Years Resolution? Which ones have you totally failed at? Which ones have you succeed at?
My New Years resolution this year is not to be a hoarder. Not to hold on to things bc “I think” they have value. Get rid of things I don’t need and don’t need and try and make a few bucks in the process. I’m really bad at making New Years resolutions, I just don’t do them. Let’s face it, I’m not gonna work out, quit smoking (although I really, really need to) or anything like that. I eat pretty healthy so I figure that’s good enough.
Oh don’t expect my Grammer to be on point. One bc I’m probably typing this right before I’m going to bed which means I’m tired as fuck and two bc I’m not writing fucking collage essay. So before anybody wants to point out shit on my Grammer or anything else, there it is. If you don’t like, don’t read it.

Oooo, I think that’s what mine needs to be, too. It’s a hard one, though. I’d actually rather exercise, which I also need to do more, but the “getting rid of/not getting more of” goal should probably be mine.
So my 2020 resolution was to “put myself out there” You know, join a gym, get out, meet people, go on some dates. Wanna guess how successful that turned out
@tinamarie1974
It’s very hard to do.
@Star2236 well especially during “The year of Covid”
@tinamarie1974
I’m a homebody anyway so I sometime forget about the whole COVID thing. I ran into a store the other day real quick and got all they way to the cashier before I realized I didn’t have my mask on, I wondered why people were looking at me
@Star2236 it happens. I had an oil change and the dealership was picking up my car. Got outside right in front of the pick up driver and realized I walked right past it!!
@Star2236 @tinamarie1974 A number of times I’ve answered my door with a box of homemade masks that I have for sale and none on my face!
I’m pretty good at remembering when I go to stores but at my house, not so much.
Get my shit together.
That was my goal for 2020 and I failed. I never really recovered from the shit year that was 2019.
Hopefully I can this year.
@RiotDemon I got this one covered in 2020. It was a slam dunk (so to speak) because: 1) I haven’t pooped anywhere but my own toilet since I started working from home in March and 2) I have a septic tank.
@RiotDemon
I didn’t know you make shirts, very cool.
Not to be a hoarder is definitely a good one and I try but fail at that almost daily! I’ve never been a New Year’s resolution maker but this year I DID say (out loud) that I was going to REALLY try to lose weight! It’s day 2 and i’m still finishing off the last of my caramel M&M’s! (my latest food obsession) I’m already having anxiety about NOT buying more!
@Lynnerizer
Don’t worry your not alone. I say that every time I step on the scale (which is like a couple times a week) then nighttime comes and halfway trough my bowl of ice cream I’m like “fuck, oh well there’s always tomorrow.” Ice cream is my down fall.
@Lynnerizer Oooo, I didn’t know about caramel M&Ms!
@Kyeh
OH MY GOODNESS, You really don’t know what you’re missing! The secret is to suck on them the entire time! You’re going to hate me, I promise!!
@Lynnerizer yeah, just what I need on top of the stroopwafels I finally quit resisting and bought. I love caramel things, better than chocolate!
@Kyeh Stroop waffels were nasty. Everyone has there own thing. My dad couldnot get enough of them gave him one unopened package right after eye received and my mother-in-law. Eye kid you not the very next week. Dad was asking if eye had more; gave him another whole sealed bundle. Well the opened bundle went to someone different. After opening gifts and eye figured they should try them. Hope they enjoy them more than my family.I know I will never buy small versions again. Which wouldnot even fit over a normal cofee mug.
@whomeyesu Oh, I like them. I’ve been heating/softening them by putting each one on top of my space heater now that the weather’s gotten colder!
@Lynnerizer @Star2236
THAT made me LOL!
I don’t really do resolutions, but I set goals for the year, so same thing, different phrasing.
@punkynpye
I think you win the reward for goals. You got some big one.
My goal is to not set any goals so I can’t disappoint myself.
@AuntMean67
As I like to say, ''expectations lead to resentments"!!
My only resolution last year was to survive. So. Mission accomplished. In the spirit of keeping the bar low, I resolve to move or purchase a house.
@PocketBrain purchasing a house isn’t a low bar!
@PocketBrain @RiotDemon
If you purchase a house you may as well move into it too!
@chienfou @PocketBrain unless they are buying the house they are currently living in.
@PocketBrain @RiotDemon
Ok, I can see that. The other option is
which seems even weirder…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@chienfou @RiotDemon
Yep, the house I’m in is up for sale.
I gotta pick one or the other. Or both.
Make more space has been a goal for a few years. Open space makes me much happier than stuff! One of my rules for getting new stuff (especially books) is that it has to have a place to go. I still have tons of crap to get rid of but this helps.
@callow Mom told me not to buy something just because I liked it. It needed a place and be worth dusting. I have good days and bad days. Currently my house resembles a hoarder in training. Moved to a smaller place and lost Mom-in-law so lots of things are waiting to be sorted.
@callow I vowed no more books. My fave thrift store had a 10 cent sale, recent books and coffee table books and great reference books and a small wrought iron bookcase. Then I got half a dozen for Christmas. Oh well.
@OldCatLady I get rid of most books as soon as I read them. I’ve had to be creative in stacking the books on the shelves to fit them and cleared out the DVDs to make more room. But they are all in the bookcases!
@callow @OldCatLady I received a new book as a Christmas present. I read it and then donated it to the local library. So they store it for me and it will (probably) be available in the event that I want to reread it in the future.
@callow - I have a small house, space is very limited.
My rule is - if I buy something new to keep, then something I already have must go. (Makes IRKs tricky)
@macromeh @kdemo My house is very small and contains my business. It’s a never ending battle. The local Historical Society has flea markets and online auctions to raise money so I donate books and unwanted IRK items to them. Love the way you look at it as they are storing it for you. Yes, I have bought my books back from them but not on purpose!
Quit smoking ✔ on step 2 patch already. Stop hanging on to stuff or hording as we know it. I cannot seem to get this one down yet. Maybe eye should get rid of the people in my life who are downers causing me that resentment. Anyone looking for a fat man who has lots of baggage?
Funny that there’s a bunch of us saying we need to get rid of/quit accumulating stuff, and we’re posting this on a site specifically geared towards getting us to buy more! At least their recent offerings have made it easy for me to NOT buy them.
