I'm using a Mr. Coffee from 1975. It looks kewl, but I've determined the bitter burnt coffee taste. is from 40 year old plastic that's been heated to near boiling every day.
@wew Throw it away! That old plastic decomposes, and you ingest it.
I used a Mr. Coffee from 1978 until last year. It was used in a summer beach house, and every spring when I ran pots of clean water through it to clean out winter dust accumulations, I found granules in the water. I had incorrectly assumed they were fine sand granules. But after a few years, I determined that it was really the plastic decomposing. When I was telling this story to a friend who works in the plastics industry, he interrupted with the answer before I got to that part.
If any other part of the coffeemaker has a rough finish (the top of my Mr. Coffee was rough and had what appeared to be shallow etchings in the plastic), that's confirmation.
I'm tempted. I'd really prefer if the hot water dispenser was a single serve brewer instead. I think I'll hold out this time. This looks like a good deal for someone who drinks hot tea and coffee, though.
@PurplePawprints Google "Sunbeam Hot Shot" for a 70's-80's wickedly fast one cup unit. Only found used on ebay, etc. They also made a version called "room service" that you poured. Very dangerous, as the spout sucked. I use a Hot Shot every morning with a one-cup filter before brewing a big batch. Also use it with my Staresso hand pump one shot espresso maker. Oh, yeah, tea too.
@brandon It had sold out quickly after it was originally posted the night before, so I don't think it ever made it to the next day. Unfortunately it is gone. Why, did you want some Bacon Bowl makers?:)
I have the Cuisineart equivalent of this. Having the hot water dispenser is really handy. I often use it in the morning to have oatmeal with my coffee and later in the day for tea.
Ok so I got one and on the first clean run (water only, no coffee) 6/10 cups of water ended up in the carafe and 4/10 ended up on the counter having leaked out the bottom. :(
Contacted Meh, they sent me to Jarden for a warranty claim. Gave them a call. Sent a screenshot of the order. 1.5 hours later, Jarden says a new Mr. Coffee is on the way, should be here after Christmas sometime (6-8 business days).
Rating: Solid 5/7. Would warranty with Jarden again.
@sccid It's not super clear from the pic - it is just the carafe that's broken? Or is there further damage? Either way, you have 2 options. 1 - You can contact Jarden, for warranty coverage, in the hopes of getting a replacement. 2- You can write in to meh.com/support and include the link to this picture, they should be able refund or help you out. Please keep in mind that this is a holiday weekend, they take 1-2 business days to respond normally, so it may be Tues/Wed before you hear back.
Sorry your caffeine delivery system isn't up and running today.
Hello there. I have submitted a refund request a few times and no reply so far. My item is defective. Water keeps leaking everywhere from the coffee filter area. I need a refund. Please help!

Somethings brewing
@AttyVette bravo
Make no beans about this deal

@PurplePawprints http://www.ebay.com/gds/Top-5-Sunbeam-Hot-Water-Makers-/10000000178335902/g.html I still like my old one, made before they worried about safety!
@radi0j0hn I have one too. They're great.
These bad puns really grind me up.
"No hot water, no homo"
This seems like it's supposed to be a sly gay joke but I don't get it.
@njd You realize homo doesn't mean 'gay', right?
@PurplePawprints considering no homo is only used by frat bros to imply their bonding isn't gay, it's a weak reference
@brandon I don't think you'll find many frat bro references here.
@PurplePawprints I don't expect to find gay jokes either. It's kind of weird though.
@njd https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homo
@njd "are we not Mehn?"
"We are devo."
@njd As in: Lucy belonged to the genus Australopithecus. No homo.
Is there a link for VMPs for yesterday's deal? I saw that on a previous one but I'm on mobile and don't see one
@brandon That's only for some non-sellouts. Yesterday's deal sold out.
@brandon It sold out super quick so I doubt it....
@Stallion thanks - it didn't show it once the deal was past (or is it passed, or is it both?) Thanks!
@brandon It had sold out quickly after it was originally posted the night before, so I don't think it ever made it to the next day. Unfortunately it is gone. Why, did you want some Bacon Bowl makers?:)
@brandon I was unaware of the deal for vmp members. What does the link look like?
@Stumpy91 it usually sits where the ad would normally sit in the upper right of the main page.
@Stumpy91 - This contains an example: https://meh.com/forum/topics/vmp-last-call
ravishing-passive-sheep
So these are really popular in.... Texas?
I have the Cuisineart equivalent of this. Having the hot water dispenser is really handy. I often use it in the morning to have oatmeal with my coffee and later in the day for tea.
@kasona Does it keep that water hot 24x7, or just when you push a button?
@kasona Is the water sanitary after sitting all day in a non-sealed container?
@S0m3f00l Given that the water was boiled at one point, a lot of undesirable things that may have been in it was probably long killed off.
If you use hot water a lot, get one of those dispensing hot water pots. Just stick with a more major brand like Zojirushi or Panasonic.
Hot water dispenser got me like "oh yeah I would use that all the time"
I applaud y'all for this first non offensive use of "no homo" I've ever seen
@Twiminy Pretty sure it's offensive to cavemen.
If you like coffee try some of that "deathwish " its pretty good at 21 dollars a bag
Did this just get $4 more expensive?
@DrunkCat naw your thinking of the crock pot

@pholvey Nice! Thanks for reporting back.
@Thumperchick Doing what I can to keep the community at its mediocre best. ;)
It was damaged.
Exchange and refund is possible?
@sccid It's not super clear from the pic - it is just the carafe that's broken? Or is there further damage?
