Movie pass?
11Just saw an ad for movie pass. Pay $9.95 a month and you can go to a movie every 24 hours without paying anything else. You have to check in to the movie you want to see within 100 yards of the theatre, and then they load the movie ticket price onto a debit card they send you, so you pay at the box office with their card. Apparently some people have been waiting months for their card.
Does anyone use this? Seems like a good deal if you watch at least a few movies a month. A little hesitant to sign up to wait months for a card though.

@RiotDemon Sounds a little too good to be true.
Guy who works for me signed up right after this new pricing came out. Took about a month for his card to come. Tells me he has used it a lot with no problems. As many as 3 times in one week while his wife was out if town. Don’t go to movie theaters myself and value my privacy too much to be part of the data collection behind this business model but for some folks it seems like a good deal.
One of my friends works in a profession where he often has flexible time commitments and his office is about 1/2 mile from a big theater. He has this and goes to movies all the time on it.
I thought about it for a few minutes until I realized that the reason I have only been to theaters maybe twice in the last three years has little to do with buying tickets and a lot to do with not wanting to dedicate the time. Sometimes it takes me two or three days to watch an hour long episode of a tv show. So this doesn’t have a lot of value to me, but for avid movie watchers it seems like a great deal.
@djslack
So Goats have no attention span?
(I watch video in like manner)
/giphy "goat attention span"
this sounds interesting…
@jbartus looks like it’s currently $84 if you pay annually. www.moviepass.com
@djslack at least one theater listed there definitely doesn’t accept Moviepass… it closed over a year ago.
I don’t understand the business model at all, but based on movie ticket prices, if you go to a movie once per month this pays for itself.
@Collin1000 I am thinking it’s a loss leader. The movie theaters all make their money on concessions anyhow.
@jbartus But it doesn’t appear to be owned by any theater chains… ?
@Collin1000 doesn’t mean they aren’t working out some sort of deals with them. By and large theater attendance is down, it could even be the distribution companies making a deal with them.
@Collin1000 @jbartus The idea is to sell demographic info to businesses near movie theaters.
@Pantheist interesting
@Collin1000 The business model for Movie Pass is exactly the same as that of Planet Fitness. It is a stroke of fucking genius and I haz a pretty big sad because I didn’t think of it first. The debit card hook which allows this overlay to function may be the best example of how to eek out money for nothing I have ever witnessed.
I’m over the fact they thought of it first now, of course.
I just tried to sign up for it. I put in my credit info and clicked join and the page just went away. Am I a member now? I’m not sure. They won’t let me log in.
The FAQs said it was glitchy so I tried again and got a welcome screen. I’m unemployed (out of the house anyway) so I expect to get a lot of use out of it.
@sammydog01 you got farther than me. I’m stuck at the screen where you click Start Membership.
Someone at work has it. Says it feels like a chore to go to the movies to make sure they’re getting their money worth.
@medz sounds like a personal issue to me. Especially since the monthly price is roughly the price of one ticket, if there’s nothing you want to see out in a given month… go to two another month? IDK
@jbartus yeah. They had trouble finding a movie they wanted to see in theater. Makes it tough when you don’t like other people. If you don’t mind crowds and sticky floors, it may be easier to find movies you’re willing to tolerate even if it’s basically free.
@medz In school they had dollar movies on Tuesdays. Most sold out. I went most every week and sat through whatever I got a ticket for. Good times. I’m looking forward to my random trashy movies for a year.
@medz this is why I usually go to movies before noon. Very little crowds.
@RiotDemon ah. Retired, eh?
@medz I wish. I’m in my 30s.
I work a job with a random schedule.
@medz I would be all over a cheap pass that lets me watch weekday early afternoon movies with all the old people.
@sammydog01 unfortunately the old people here talk through the entire movie and since they tend to be half deaf, they don’t know how to whisper anymore.
I’ve used Dealflicks quite a few times. I always pay less than the price of a movie ticket when buying from them without any discounts, and normally get admission plus free popcorn. On top of their lower ticket prices, they usually send out discount codes for their site. On top of that, they occasionally sell discounted gift cards on groupon, for which sometimes you can also use a groupon discount coupon code on, and pay by credit card, to get additional cash back.
Not all theaters take it, and may limit based on times and/or movie, but for the occasional watcher like it, it works well. You can search your zip code on their site to see what’s available.
In case anybody wants to try it out, here is a referral code to get 20% off your first purchase (and me a $5 credit), but you don’t have to use it: RFRH8X7XGZ
I got a card from them near the beginning of 2017. Never used it though, so I cancelled it.
They are expecting that you will tire of going to movies, forget to cancel, yet still collect the subscription fee from you. Oh, and you purchase the occasional box of popcorn.
@unmlobo300 where have i seen this type of business model before? Charge a flat rate each month and hope people dont use it and forget to cancel it…
@jml326 Pretty sure that particular deal company is still waiting for me to forget I have it… or for my credit card to expire
I have a Moviepass. It works for all 5 of the theaters in my town. It only works for 2D showings, but that’s not important to me. You check in to a movie through the iPhone app when you arrive at the theater, and then pay for the ticket with your moviepass card just like a credit card. So far it has been a fantastic value. I’ve been going to 1-2 movies a week since I got it. Card took approximately 3 weeks to arrive once I signed up for it.
@windfish113 thanks. Hoping the website eventually takes my money, haha.
@RiotDemon I did the year in advance and just hope they don’t take my money and go under.
@sammydog01 agreed.
That’s what I’m trying to do. Still not taking my money. It’s like the browser doesn’t recognize I’m clicking the button. Might have to try on a computer, I guess.
@RiotDemon I used my laptop at midnight and it took two tries. But the app acknowledges my existence. Funny, you can do an e- ticket now and don’t actually need the physical card but you need the number off it. I hope they push through the year memberships.
@sammydog01 if you use the eticket, you won’t get a card, from what I can tell.
@RiotDemon The app says I need to put in the card number to use it, which is weird because it knows I bought the thing. So I only need the number from the card not the card itself. I hope something comes before the December movies are gone. (Card processing)
@sammydog01 weird. I saw that if you use your e-ticket thing, your year starts then. Otherwise it doesn’t start until your card activates. But it doesn’t give you the number, lol.
I finally got it to go through. I just had to “request desktop site” on my phone.
I really hope it doesn’t take forever. I’ll easily go to the movies at least once a week if this works.
@RiotDemon I’ll give it a try then!
@sammydog01 that’s only a few theatres that use e-tickets. Nothing I’ve even heard of. Here’s part of the faq that might help:
https://moviepass.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001127512-Where-can-I-find-my-e-ticketing-redemption-code-
@RiotDemon I checked- none of the local theaters use e-tickets. I guess I’ll just keep checking the mail.
@RiotDemon “Your personalized card has been ordered and should arrive in about 5-7 business days”. Maybe they prioritized the yearly ones to get all that cash upfront?
@sammydog01 crosses fingers
I read about this and was about to pull the trigger on it a few months ago… then i remembered that movie theaters are filthy, disgusting places and I don’t enjoy spending time in them. Seriously, they don’t clean them. Those cloth seats have been farted in thousands of times in just the past year… No. Thank. You.
I’ll just wait until they get released on digital format and watch them at home
@capguncowboy if you go in and immediately fart in them you can push the other farts away and build a barrier of your own friendly farts to protect you throughout the movie.
@capguncowboy all the theaters around here have recently redone all their seats, even the discount one
@djslack
/giphy Like the way you think.
This was on my new chrome tab a little while ago. Hooray for big brother watching me:
https://gizmodo.com/moviepass-probably-wont-last-but-its-only-seven-bucks-1820549446
We signed up the day of the big media release a couple months ago and it did take freaking forever to get our cards, but now that we have them we love the service so far. We’ve seen 2 movies this month and the subscription has already paid for itself. It worked great in our small town local theater. We also like that we can also use it for movies we’re interested in, but might not necessarily want to pay full price tickets for.
It doesn’t cover 3D showings or IMAX theaters, but I personally can’t see 3D well so it isn’t a dealbreaker for me.
Ha. ONE participating theater (with one screen) within 60 miles of me. Gas prices alone kills it for me, but seems like a good deal elsewhere.
The price of living in paradise(?).
@gregormehndel From the site:
Nope.
Fucked up website there.
Just got my email that my card has been ordered. I hope it actually comes soon.
@RiotDemon me too.
@jbartus you joined too?
I really hope this works. I’d feel really bad if a bunch of people signed up because of this thread and they get stuck waiting forever for their card.
/image knock on wood
@RiotDemon Or if they take our money and run.
/giphy torches and pitchforks
@RiotDemon I did, yes. I had tried a couple of times when you were having trouble signing up to tell you that it seemed to have desktop issues but I’d been successful on my phone, guess that never posted.
@sammydog01 I better put on my running shoes.
Mine arrived… took months. My neighbor’s came in 2 weeks. We ordered same day. I can confirm that it works.
@connorbush oh boy. Here’s to hoping that everyone gets theirs quickly.
My big issue is they don’t allow 3d movies. I rarely go if it’s not 3d to the theater unless it’s with my whole family…
@sohmageek for my part I find 3D overblown and overrated so I’m happy as a clam
Love mine. Try to use it once a week. Saw Thor and Justice League already this month, going see Coco tomorrow. Great value. It does take a minute to receive. It also will not work on fanthom events.
I signed up for MoviePass! Now I can see unlimited movies in theaters nationwide for only $9.95/month and I want you to join, too! https://www.moviepass.com/referral/sms/GtGiMtX8osL92FvLSI72BmI0HwhxVpZcd6Aj7iPgU3Y%3D/1511330850688
@Epinardian Get those cards and referral dollars rolling in!!
My card showed up today. That’s a good sign.
@RiotDemon Yay! My guess was that they can’t charge credit cards until they ship so they would put the annual memberships up front to get all that cash.
@RiotDemon Let me know your thoughts after using it.
@sammydog01 my charge went right through because my credit card emailed me asking if it was me since the charge wasn’t something I normally buy.
@mfladd hopefully soon. I’ll report back for sure.
@RiotDemon mine’s here now too!
@jbartus woohoo! Let’s all get our money’s worth before they go under, lol.
Side note:
The article that was linked above somewhere talked about the reasoning for it being so cheap. They were told to bring in a ton of new users. Original price is actually $39.95 a month. So I have a feeling after we are all hooked, they will make it more expensive again.
@RiotDemon My mail came. No pass.
/giphy sad
@sammydog01 Good thing you have the November goat to blame…I’m not so sure the December goat will be sympathetic…
@sammydog01 I’m not sure if I kept the thing that said where it came from… Wonder if you’re farther away.
@RiotDemon Oh, she’s pretty far out.
@sammydog01 my card came from Ohio.
Ok, the 1 theatre near me is on the list. Decisons…decisions…
@mfladd I went to see Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri yesterday. It was really good in a not happy, kick-ass, kind of funny way. You would probably like it.
@sammydog01 I do want to see it! What the fuck are you doing in Missouri?!
@mfladd Smartass. For everyone else out there,
@sammydog01 I saw it too. Also thought it was good. Wasn’t crazy about the ending so much but otherwise very much enjoyed.
@jbartus I kind of liked the ending.
Using my Movie Pass for the first time right now to see The Man Who Invented Christmas. Got to the theater, checking in, activated my card, and bought my ticket as advertised with no hassle.
@jbartus one movie down, ~6 to go til I have a positive spend to value ratio on my membership. I fully expect Star Wars to account for at least three such viewings.
It’s here! Going to see Murder on the Orient Express on Wednesday. Wednesday may be movie day for me.
@sammydog01 woohoo! I’m trying justice league tomorrow.
@sammydog01 I enjoyed Murder, I think it helped that I’ve never seen the “original” and so went into it with no preconceptions. Let us know what you think!
@jbartus I read the book first, of course. Then I saw the original movie (which I liked) and now have seen the remake. I liked the remake too. So atmospheric, snowbound…
@jbartus I knew the ending upfront and think it’s stupid. But the first hour and a half I really liked. Good acting and beautiful scenery.
@therealjrn I’d read the book too… back in like… fourth grade.
@jbartus What’s your point trouble?
@therealjrn making conversation? O.o
@jbartus Don’t be flashing those google eyes.
When you…pause…your…statements. It…appears you are…being…sarcastic.
@therealjrn not meant that way.
Ellipses aren’t really a strongly defined mark… the sarcasm interpretation is a new one on me.
@jbartus If you’re needing an apology from me for your sarcasm you’re going to have to wait until tomorrow.
@therealjrn no apology necessary, simple miscommunication
I’m in the theater right now! I don’t even care if the movie sucks!
@sammydog01 shhh!
Had no problems yesterday with check in and purchasing my ticket. $12 recouped so far.
@RiotDemon I sat through the previews and thought I’m going to see that one, I’m going to see that too…
@sammydog01 yep! I went with a friend and explained the program to him. He saw how easy it was, so now he’ll probably sign up. During the wait, I talked about how I’d probably go see some stuff that I wasn’t crazy about, just because I can.
I accidentally asked my daughter if she wanted to go to the movies with me. She said yes and picked Bad Mom’s Christmas ($18 with popcorn). She was so traumatized by the ball waxing scene I promised to take her to see Thor: Ragnarok to make up for it ($12). This thing is getting expensive.
(@Riotdemon The ball waxing scene was hysterical- go see the movie if you have time.)
@sammydog01 you’re supposed to not pay when you go, I think you’re doing this wrong
Traumatic ball waxing? Oooh boy.
@RiotDemon I probably should have bought her a pass too but it said the minimum age was 18.
@sammydog01 I saw comments of people that bought it for their children. As long as they have a smart phone they can have an account on their phone… And you’re good to go.
@RiotDemon Yes you can do that but it’s strictly against the rules (per the FAQs). I’m a rule follower. How else would they make me pay to take my kid?
@sammydog01 Wait, so you can’t add another ticket? What do married (or not so married) couples do? Each buy their own ticket on their own account?
@therealjrn Unless you’re married to a 16 year old you’re good. Must be 18 to use the pass. Even the $90 deal was two per physical address. And yes, I’m pretty sure you each need a separate account.
@therealjrn yes, separate accounts.
@sammydog01 make one in your husbands account and give the card to your daughter? Break more rules. When was the last time that anyone really reads your name on a credit card unless it’s an expensive purchase? A lot of the comments show that even in theatres with assigned seating people would get around it by asking the teller to charge the tickets on the separate cards.
@RiotDemon Nope, not breaking rules. Cards are not transferable.
@sammydog01 you and your morals.
@RiotDemon Yep, as I sit here waiting for Thor to start so I can pull the box of Junior Mints out of my purse.
OK there are four people here why did number four sit right in front of me?
@sammydog01 rebel!! You better get your daughter that card now!
As for #4… I hate that shit. How rude.
@RiotDemon I moved and had the entire right side of the theater to myself. Fun movie!
Fuck
MoviePass pulls out of AMC’s top theaters as negotiations fail
@Pavlov Interesting. At least it’s only a handful of AMCs. They are my last choice here any way, expensive concessions, have not upgraded seating or gone to reserved seating, and further than several better chains.
@Pavlov good thing the amc is my absolute last choice and its not part of the ten. Makes me wonder about the future of amc with the pass though.
@RiotDemon My local theaters are Regal. Yay! Let’s see if Moviepass can get them to agree to something.
@sammydog01 I hope you signed up for the regal crown club.
@RiotDemon I have a free ticket already.
@sammydog01 woohoo! I’m saving my points for merchandise, I think.
@RiotDemon At my theater Tuesday is half price popcorn day. I love popcorn.
@sammydog01 At my favorite theater, I have the refillable medium popcorn tub and 40oz soda cup, which cost $2.50 each to fill. However, I also have a VIP card which gives me a free small popcorn at this theater. I always bring my refillable container to put the free popcorn in, and most of the time they just fill it instead. So between the refillable cup, the VIP and Moviepass cards, I can see a movie, get 40oz soda, a medium popcorn and $13 worth of loyalty card points for $2.50. I was telling my friend this yesterday and he said, “Wow, you just won the movies!”
@moondrake That’s great- what theater? I would go for that.
@sammydog01 Premiere. They have only two theaters in town, one first run and one second run. They have our only IMAX, but of course that’s not included on Moviepass. I’ll probably end up paying to see Avengers, Pacific Rim and Ready Player One on the IMAX screen.
Sounds good as a deal, but I only ever go to Alamo Drafthouse theaters. Can’t stand the regular ones, knowing a single jerk could ruin the whole thing for me.
@quieteidolon That’s funny, because I find the long list of bossy rules at Alamo a real drag. And I find the servers running around much more distracting than tge occasional comment. Moviepass works at Alamo, so you could still use it.
@moondrake I think them bossy as well; just happen to agree with their rules, given how I prefer to watch movies. Translation: I just want everyone else to shut up.
Surprised they support that, but will definitely give it a look now. Bit of a gamble since seats are assigned (not worth much if I always land front-row-end), but might as well try for $10. Thanks for the info.
@quieteidolon If I think a movie is going to be full I go by early and buy my ticket for later in the day. Won’t help if a lot of people buy tickets days in advance, but it gets you in ahead of those who buy tickets right before the movie.
@moondrake True. Should be pretty good for films that have been out for a little bit - nights close to a debut won’t be so good.
But, again, doesn’t cost much to try. Catch two flicks in a month and it’s already paid for itself (at least, by the Brooklyn Alamo’s pricing).
Costco just had this on sale for their members for $90 for the year that also included a one year subscription to the movie streaming site, Fandor. I ordered and received my card in about 5 days.
@benj welcome to the club!
@benj Wow, it took mine 15 days, in which I saw 4 movies, which cost me about a third of what I paid for the pass. Every ticket I paid for out of pocket while waiting for my card was painful. Grrr. That’ll teach me to buy one at Christmastime.
*These Movie Pass hacks don’t really seem unethical, unsure if they might be helpful.
*Referring to the first 3 only.
@kdemo They mentioned rewards cards but I think the rule was you couldn’t buy a ticket just to get rewards. I always sit through the movie.
@sammydog01 Since Moviepass pays the full price of the movie, it’s pretty self defeating to make them pay $10 for you to get a few cents worth of rewards points. Unless you want to see the company fail.
@moondrake True but people are weird. It’s in the faqs.
https://gizmodo.com/moviepass-demands-photos-of-ticket-stubs-from-users-wh-1823473277
@Pavlov I’m one of them.
@Pavlov I hope they tell you before you go to the movie. I toss my stubs with my concession trash.
@moondrake you would of gotten an email.
I did, and the next time I went to the movies, my app didn’t work, so my friend bought my ticket, and I bought the popcorn. If I was alone, I wouldn’t of gone.
I’m still waiting for them to chat back back at me. That was Thursday. The app worked again Friday, but I didn’t try to see a movie.
I bet I was selected since I’ve seen a ton of movies. I also saw a fathom event showing, but I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to watch those. It came up in the app and let me check in. I had to pay $0.75 extra. Now with the latest app update, the fathom events say they are not available with the pass.
My email says that once I see a movie, it won’t let me check into another movie unless I upload my stub.
Will update after the next time I go.
@RiotDemon Did they ask for a birth date when we signed up? I don’t remember. If they did it may be your demographic. I see a ton of movies and didn’t get picked. I was wondering about the Fathom events- glad they fixed the app so you know for sure.
@RiotDemon Also I went to see Game Night yesterday. It was really fun.
@sammydog01 I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the fathom thing. Shortly after I watched it, the app said I had a notification that just said “Info” and nothing else. I’m really bummed that they aren’t covered. There’s a lot of random anime that I was interested I watching.
I believe they did ask for birth dates.
Game night was funny. I didn’t watch any trailers before going, so I was completely in the dark on that one.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 I just with, with the renaissance of board gaming, that their game library included something a little more sophisticated than Monopoly. But overall it was a fun film.
@RiotDemon I just hit diamond status at Regal.
@moondrake True. Maybe they figured the audience wouldn’t understand. It’s spring break here and I’m trying to get my son to go to one of those escape rooms. They just opened one with vampires vs unicorns.
@sammydog01 i have five more to go. I go to a different theatre a lot because it’s closer.
@RiotDemon The other theater here doesn’t sell kid’s popcorn and drink packs. They’re my favorite. See, Regal, sometimes I spend extra money at the theater.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 I have the refillable cups and popcorn tubs at the two theaters I frequent. The one with the best popcorn gives a free small popcorn to VIP discount card holders, and 42 oz soda refill is $2.50, so I get the movie popcorn and soda for $2.50.
@moondrake that’s a good deal. I don’t normally buy anything. I sneak in a water and maybe some candy. The theatres all sell dasani or aquafina water which I can’t stand the taste of. The one theatre will give me a cup of tap water if i ask… but it’s a waste so I’d rather bring my bottle.
I will buy popcorn if I’m with someone and they want it. I smell popcorn every day at work, so it’s not as appealing as it used to be.
@RiotDemon One advantage of having a refillable cup from the theater is I can bring it in with ice from home and fill it at the water fountain if I don’t feel like soda. That’s what I do in the evenings as only one distant theater has caffeine-free sugar-free soda available and as a lifelong insomniac I don’t consume caffeine after 3pm. I don’t drink bottled water at all, tastes dead.
https://www.engadget.com/2018/03/05/moviepass-ceo-says-app-tracks-location/
@PlacidPenguin They’ll be very disappointed if they track me. “This one’s a geek- write her off as a loss.”
@PlacidPenguin @sammydog01 When I read that I thought, it would be easy to track where you went after the movie, but to track where you went on your way to the movie would mean they’d have to track you all the time, and that seems like an insane amount of data. Plus they wouldn’t get much useful from me as it’s usually a grocery store or straight home after.
@moondrake @PlacidPenguin @sammydog01 I was reading this last night. The gps icon is on the task bar if I minimize my app… so I started closing it. My data is boring. I almost always go home afterwards.
@moondrake @RiotDemon @sammydog01
https://techcrunch.com/2018/03/12/moviepass-ceo-backpedals-on-location-tracking-and-talks-strategy-to-break-even-by-2019/
@moondrake @PlacidPenguin @sammydog01 I got an email from him that essentially said the same plus a little more insight.
When I checked in last night, it reminded me to take a photo of my stub before I can check in again. I attempted many times to get a photo. Would line up the stub and let it focus. Every single time it came out blurry. I eventually said Fuck it and uploaded it even though you could barely read it. Don’t know wtf the app was doing.
Well, I just passed into the profit zone on my Movie Pass. Saw my 14th movie in a little less than 2 months since I got it. I only go to matinees, so my movies cost $7.50 on average, and I paid $90 for the year, so I figured 12-13 was break even. So the next 10 months of movies will be free (except for the IMAX and XD ones I have to pay for)
@moondrake Do you have to pay the full price for the Imax and XD? Or do you pay a discounted price due to the pass?
@mfladd Full price.
https://gizmodo.com/moviepass-looks-like-its-ditching-its-unlimited-ticket-1825571779
@PlacidPenguin That’s one a week. I can live with that.
@PlacidPenguin bummer… once a week is still pretty good… but sometimes I’ll see a couple in one week and none the next, so it kinda evens out, I guess.
@PlacidPenguin I think it’s ringing it’s death bell.
https://www.theverge.com/2018/4/27/17291242/moviepass-unlimited-movie-deal-repeat-viewings-theater-blackouts
@cinoclav @sammydog01 @RiotDemon
Thoughts?
@PlacidPenguin I try to not think too much.
/giphy my brain hurts monty python
@sammydog01
How do you know you exist then?
@cinoclav @PlacidPenguin @sammydog01
I knew it wasn’t going to last forever at the price I paid. I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth. I don’t normally see movies more than once, so that doesn’t bother me too much. I haven’t gotten an email saying my plan is changing to only four movies a month… I don’t like that I didn’t get an email about it.
@RiotDemon The article said that’s for new members so maybe we can keep ours for a while- hopefully at least the year I signed up for.
@sammydog01 It still says I’m on the annual plan and it’ll renew at the end of November. It doesn’t say anything about that plan not being available then. The app just forced me to update before I could use it where it told me about that I can’t watch the same movie twice.
@PlacidPenguin the thing about this deal is in the TOS it says they can change their conditions whenever they want. If you get mad and cancel, you can’t sign up for 9 months, so most people put up with it.
Apparently it used to be around $30 a month, so I got a hell of a deal even if it only lasts the one year.
@PlacidPenguin @RiotDemon @sammydog01 I don’t even have it. Don’t get to the movies often enough to bother. Personally, I think they’re going to go out of business sooner rather than later so enjoy it while you can.
@RiotDemon I didn’t know you couldn’t see the same movie twice. Thanks for the info.
I just got flagged to post a photo of my ticket stubs. Yippee!
@sammydog01 I’ve been doing this for a while. They just sent an email that I’ve been chosen to upload photos.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@RiotDemon I guess you need to send in two photos. I assume they ping you and it’s easy?
@sammydog01 super easy. After you check in, a popup reminds you to save your ticket stub. Then a camera icon shows up. Click it and take a crazy low res photo and you’re good to go.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 I also got the notice, I guess they are moving to it for everyone. I messaged support asking them to put a check mark or camera icon o the movies in your history to indicate they’d received the photo. They said they’d pass the suggestion on.
@moondrake as soon as you send the photo, it sends a verification back that they got it.
@RiotDemon I don’t get any verification. Support said if it didn’t go thru it would keep asking for it.
@moondrake @RiotDemon I’ve been keeping my stubs just in case.
@moondrake odd. Mine has always approved it right away.
@RiotDemon I noticed today that some tiny little words flashed on the screen for about a heartbeat after I took the photo. I’d imagine that probably was a confirmation although it could have been a death threat I have no idea. I don’t wear glasses except when I’m reading.
@sammydog01 @moondrake how many movies have you seen so far? I’m currently at 26.
@RiotDemon I’m at 25 since January 19. Plus a half dozen I paid full price for to watch on IMAX or XD, such as the Avengers I just got home from seeing, and have plans to see twice more with different friends on XD at full price. Lol.
@RiotDemon Can I look it up?
@sammydog01 Open app, go to Account tab at bottom of screen. Select History.
@moondrake wow. I wish I had the time for more.
@RiotDemon 34
@sammydog01 I’m slacking
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 You people have too much time on your hands!
@mfladd I don’t have children.
@mfladd @RiotDemon I don’t bother with my children.
@mfladd @RiotDemon @sammydog01 my child turned me on to the app… turn me on dead man, turn me on dead man…

Unlimited plan is back. 3D and imax plans in the works.
@RiotDemon I hope there’s one that allows one or two premium screenings monthly for a modest bump in price. I wouldn’t pay double for unlimited premium screenings, but I’d pay $2-3 more monthly for 1-2 monthly.

Updated my app today. Now it keeps crashing whenever I use the “search this area” function. I’ve tried force-stopping, clearing the cache, and restarting my phone. No dice.
Also a nearby theater that still appears on the website is now no longer appearing in the app.
@UncleVinny Why’d you make this update screw up my Moviepass experience?
@msklzannie just trying to keep ya on your toes, just trying to keep ya nimble.
