@rileyper but the Bose one doesn't have a microphone, does it?
My ideal device would play directly from AC power (and not continuously charge the battery while powering the device from the said battery). My ideal device would have FM radio built in.
Got a Jawbone mini jam box. Was $199. Jawbone cut price to $179. Then everyone had them on sale for $139. No idea how I stumbled onto it, but the Microsoft store had them for $79. Thought I was a genius. But apparently I paid $50 more than I needed to. Ah, well, live and learn.
Meh. I've had my fill of speakers. I'm me-fucking-ed out. 5000 watts of ear-melting goodness could drop like mana from the heavens, and I would give significantly less than two shits. Gimme some knives that pass more than a cursuroy QA test. No more Ken Onions that say 'First run/First Production'. Ugh. Knives and speaker docks my ass. Barf.
Gimme something with slightly more expectations than Goodwill. I'll buy those MFers.
With all of my BlueToothed items (the 808 speaker (when the original one died, they sent me a factory new one), 808 headphones, and the arrival pending banana boat bathroom speaker), and the USB & headphone jack wired magnetically docking expanding mini speakers for my desktop at work, I am fully speakered up, and this is too expensive for a work gift, so MEH!!
The pictures on meh.com show it is the ClarityHD, shown on the speaker on the top in red (3rd picture) and the picture of the box, which aligns with the ClarityHD post on Amazon, unlike the Micro Clarity link that is currently posted.
@runninredman@shawn The model number in the description matches the Clarity speaker (first Amazon link, $46.69) but the pictures of the item and the box match the ClarityHD (second Amazon link, $90.20)
These appear to be different items. Since the description and the pictures don't match, which one are you actually selling?
@runninredman it would appear you're correct and the higher priced ClarityHD labeled unit is the better comp link for our event. I think there's a mess of this sku at Amazon that may have been adjusted out from under us. At least the comp is wrong in the favorable direction for folks consideration.
@runninredman So far, the team here thinks it's better to leave it the way it is. The part number matches the one we're linking to which should have ClarityHD in the title but we think Amazon has it screwed up. It's possible that both models are the ClarityHD but the more expensive one comes with an interchangeable grill that can be bought separately. Anyways, it's screwy and we're erring on the safe side.
Edit: We're removing the comp link and changing to the box picture to be super clear: We have the ClarityHD model.
Edit2: We keep getting people thinking we have the wrong photos and we're selling the cheaper one but advertising the expensive one. We're not. We have the right photos. We took these photos of our inventory. We have the ClarityHD. Amazon is wrong and confusing you. We are editing over to link to the wrong link now so that it shows the right title on Amazon. We'll then indicate that you're only getting the white speaker grills. OMG We are the only correct people on the planet this morning and everyone else is so dumb.
@2many2no Hey no apology needed! It's great to have community support on specs and pricing. My exasperation was meant in jest as clarifying this one was absurd.
Oh! I honestly forgot to say "happy Valentine day to everyone! Bad Wew. Well, we can pretend today's Valentines day and hug and kiss total strangers again today, (bring the cops over here and show them this post). And I'm gonna get one of these Monster bluetooth stereo's some day when I have more money. Moving it from one room of my apt to another room would be so smooooth! No messing with wires. It's time for me to own some bluetooth, and be a kewl kid once again, if only for a while.
after reading a lot of the reviews on Amazon, most people are saying "good sound, but not for X dollars. well most of them paid 100+, so at $27 this seems like a steal for sure. Got it for my wife to dance around to. Though i doubt it will see much use until she finishes passing her CPA. "Sigh".
@completewally FWIW, I use a bluetooth speaker with a white noise app when I'm reading something important and don't want my noise canceling headphones on. Maybe your wife will get some use out of it in that capacity.
@heartny yes. It was shorthand, like TLDR. Monster still sucks. Selling on meh proves it. If Meh didnt sell em, overstock, yugster, and all the other bottom scrapers of the distribution channel would be on these like speaker docks on Fridays. Thankfully, Meh gets first pick at these turds of the retail sales channel, just for us. How sweet!
How come all these bluetooth speakers always have stupidly loud voices announcing when it's turning on or paired? Is that really a feature people want in a mini portable speaker?
@Burns72 ... I've had my Jambox for maybe four years now, Had never heard about this little trick, so I tested it out... Awesome! Quite startup and pair! You just made my day (and my co-worker's as well, probably, since this thing screams at you about whatever it is doing otherwise.) Thanks for that tip!
Since this has two speakers at 3w each, in for one! most speakers here end up two at 2w between the two or one at 2w. This should have some decent sound if you are looking for it, or at least I hope so!
Is this the same group that bought that carnaval electric stimulator? If you did buy that and you trash these, I suggest you plug one of the biggest paddles to each side of your temple ( head not mosk ) and turn on full power until you see what junk that is.. Just my opinion.
Featured on the box: "...amazing acoustical quality..." - Ritz Carlton magazine. If you can't take the word of Ritz Carlton, you can't take the word of anyone! Back in my BBY days, Monster was stressed as top of the line quality, with an inflated price to match. Will be passing on this Bluetooth speaker as I've typically had inconsistent connectivity with a variety of phones.
Can any of these be used as a speakerphone? Since I often use my phone as ... well, ... a phone. Why do I have to turn my phone into a unitasker when I get one of these ubiquitous speaker docks?
Mehbe meh meht meht the demand for a slightly higher price point by offering BT speakers that have a simple condenser mic in them that can double as a speakerphone - for when you're listening to music streamed from your phone/computer and a call comes in. Because that will never happen, right?
The problem with the Monster brand name is that it almost has a negative value connotation to me. I'd rather buy a generic brand speaker than something with a brand name that makes me look like a gullible idiot who overpaid for their equipment.
It's kinda like getting a $499 Bose surround system for $99. Sure, that's probably what the speakers are actually worth, but now you'll have to look at something with a Bose brand name in my living room that just screams "I overpaid for my speakers!" to my house guests.
This is a super meh product, name brand, past its life cycle, but still decent for the $27. I bought one a year plus ago for the bargain price of $67. The joy of the beautiful packaging, a support page with a downloadable update, wow. Then I turned it on, and grinned at the submarine sounding radar sound to pair.... connected! Then I heard the music, crisp and clear but no bass. Oh no! Great battery life and durable, but no bass. Mehbee I will get another one.......
@soopabox Well just look at that: the support page has vanished for this product and Monster no longer pretends like this thing ever existed. Pray, would you happen to still have that update file somewhere?
@ironiridis So sorry to tell you I do not have the update file anymore. I saw no difference with the speaker from before and after the update. Nothing. It is a great speaker for acoustic guitar/vocal piano style stuff-
Mine came really quick. Got it charged up and trying it out now.
Packaging sure is nice. Manual and quick start both half describe things and point you to separate web sites, both are now 404. Speaker itself feels decent quality, comes with a neat pouch.
The sound is decidedly 'meh.' It's pretty great for $27, clear but lacking in low end.
My primary point of comparison is a Logitech UE Mini Boom that retailed for around $130 the same time this thing retailed for $230. The mini boom didn't come with a pouch, or strap, or even an AC adapter. The Mini Boom doesn't have interchangeable grills or voice control or the ability to skip a track or pause. It's not quite as wide, but it's a good deal thicker. The Monster will pack in a backpack much easier.
But the UE Boom sounds a hell of a lot better.
Not just the lacking bass, but it's louder, and a more balanced sound.
The Monster Micro is pretty great at this price. I'm glad they sacrificed bass for clarity. But it's hard to feel much good about it when something that sold for half the price sounds so much better.
I guess that is why these ended up on meh, and the UE Mini Boom refurbished still don't go this cheap.
Update- I tried listening to this speaker with my ipad for TV shows. The sound was clear but there was a background hissing that drove me crazy. I called Monster- they told me to send it back and that they had replacements available. I sent it (another $13.45 because it was over 2 lbs), but they didn't have any after all. I was allowed to pick from the catalog and chose a Superstar which looked pretty close. It just came, and the sound isn't great but much better than the last one. I'm in for forty bucks now, probably wouldn't have paid that for it, but I have an OK bluetooth speaker for my ipad. One thing, Monster customer service was pretty impressive. Amazon customers had said horrible things about them, but I got through right away, had an RA within an hour, and got a new speaker in a week.

Someone was just asking for this... you'd better be happy and buy it. I can't believe I miss a fuku and never this crap.
@jml326
Well, I was asking for a disposable. This actually has some useful features, but still a bit rich for my taste. Meh, but barely
This just doesn't sound like a good deal.
Based on the reviews, it sounds like I should stick with my Bose Soundlink and be happy.
@heartny ha same here
@rileyper but the Bose one doesn't have a microphone, does it?
My ideal device would play directly from AC power (and not continuously charge the battery while powering the device from the said battery). My ideal device would have FM radio built in.
:(
OK is that too much to ask?
Speak up for this deal --
How does it compare, sound wise, to the JBL Onbeat MINI? :)
Question: "You need a Bluetooth speaker. How much time do you spend researching to get the right one?"
Answer: Wait until Meh puts one on sale...which will be less than a week.

Wah? They had Bluetooth back then?
With all of my BlueToothed items (the 808 speaker (when the original one died, they sent me a factory new one), 808 headphones, and the arrival pending banana boat bathroom speaker), and the USB & headphone jack wired magnetically docking expanding mini speakers for my desktop at work, I am fully speakered up, and this is too expensive for a work gift, so MEH!!
Wrong Amazon link?
The Meh description says it is the "Monster ClarityHD Micro Bluetooth Speaker".
The Amazon link is for the "Monster Micro Clarity Bluetooth Speakers" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008MF3ZBQ/?tag=meh0ec-20)
However, this is the posting on Amazon for the "Monster ClarityHD Micro Bluetooth Speaker - White (133265)" (http://www.amazon.com/Monster-ClarityHD-Micro-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B0084Y9V90) Keyword here is "ClarityHD".
The pictures on meh.com show it is the ClarityHD, shown on the speaker on the top in red (3rd picture) and the picture of the box, which aligns with the ClarityHD post on Amazon, unlike the Micro Clarity link that is currently posted.

@snapster Retroactive price increases! :-)
@snapster Sorry, didn't mean to start a shitstorm.
It appears this is a better deal than initially advertised.
Than you.

@liz So, does it have at least $40 sound quality? I'm using as my baseline the $33 Maxwell soundboard meh was selling. That was good $33 dollar sound.
@liz thanks for the advice. I'm studying for my CSPC as well so maybe it will serve us both well sooner than I expected. 🎎
@completewally Don't lose hope- you just haven't found the right stripper tunes yet...
@wew I use another bluetooth speaker (a jambox) so I can't necessarily speak to the quality of this one in particular :)
Obligatory Monster Corp comment.
@RedOak I think obligatory monster comments are supposed to say they suck and you would never buy anything they make. Or something along those lines.
@heartny yes. It was shorthand, like TLDR. Monster still sucks. Selling on meh proves it. How come all these bluetooth speakers always have stupidly loud voices announcing when it's turning on or paired? Is that really a feature people want in a mini portable speaker?
@dunda Ditto! That is the biggest problem I have with the Jambox. Extremely loud beeps and voices with every button press or power on and off.
@sjk3 You can hold down the "-" down volume button then turn on the power. It goes into silent mode. At least on the mid-sized (discontinued) Jambox.
@dunda clearly it is so you will know when BLUETOOTHS MODO HAS BEEN OPENED!
Since this has two speakers at 3w each, in for one! most speakers here end up two at 2w between the two or one at 2w. This should have some decent sound if you are looking for it, or at least I hope so!
You bastards. Bought a BT speaker, yesterday, at Sam's Club....
@connorbush I hear they have a great return policy
bluetooth 2.0? darn, thats a killer
Is this the same group that bought that carnaval electric stimulator? If you did buy that and you trash these, I suggest you plug one of the biggest paddles to each side of your temple ( head not mosk ) and turn on full power until you see what junk that is.. Just my opinion.
Another Bluetooth. How about a good speaker dock? I'd love one with a. Micro USB
@sohmageek Because 17 speaker docks is not enough.
@sammydog01 And yet, STILL NO PURPLE!
@sohmageek it haz micro usb. Check the pics.
@mike808 I think he wants a boy USB not a girl.

(1) A $499 BOSE speaker does sound like a $99 speaker. Marketing. "Sound" familiar?
(2) Sharpie.
Is this the same speaker in green for $12?

@stevenbrooken That's just a grill cover, not the speaker itself. Note reviewer frustration on Amazon who were also misled.
@stevenbrooken thats just for the grill.
@stevenbrooken almost ran for the cancel button. From the reviews that is just for a different color grill and not the speaker.
@stevenbrooken Thanks everyone!
I have been looking for a decentish, cheapish, bluetooth speaker but really didn't have the motivation to look too hard. Thanks meh!
In for one.
numberless-endearing-bourbon
Tried them in an electronics store a couple of seasons ago and thought they sounded quite good...
I see some here would rather buy generic Bluetooth speakers than get this Monster for almost the same price. Now that's funny!
People, this overpriced Monster thing is NOW $27! Not $199.
CNET review here: http://www.cnet.com/products/monster-clarityhd-micro/
2-$27 deals in a row. Sunday and Monday.
Bluetooth name origin was borrowed from the 10th-century, second king of Denmark, King Harald Bluetooth; who was famous for uniting Scandinavia.
So, some artsy-fartsy history dullard squandered an opportunity to brand the linking of radios something cool.
What would you have named the process?
This is a super meh product, name brand, past its life cycle, but still decent for the $27. I bought one a year plus ago for the bargain price of $67. This thing sounds horrible- there is a really loud hiss. I would rather listen to my Banana Boat. I guess I'll check with Monster.
@sammydog01 Same here. Very dissapointed :(

Is there any way to shut that yelling man up? SEARCHING FOR CONNECTION... CONNECTED...PICKUP OR IGNORE... my coworkers are getting annoyed.
I second the above question. Has anyone figured out how to stop it from talking!?!?!?!!
