This is why I don’t like PC Gaming.
“A video loop playing on the CHG90 that included some gameplay of “Battlefield 1” showed how the extra field of view on the CHG90 could give you an advantage, as you could spot enemies in places where regular 16:9 monitors don’t reach.”
That’s an unfair advantage. AKA cheating. Same goes for any hardware/peripheral that gives you an unfair technological advantage over your competition. Console gaming it’s skill vs skill not wallet vs wallet.

Not exactly a fair comparison, unless someone is buying this screen for the sole purpose of having an advantage (with no other reason).
@medz Gamers already set their FoV wider than is remotely natural looking, and use multiple monitors. You could buy three 1080p displays for less money than this curved monstrosity, and have 1.5x the horizontal space.
The really unfair thing about FPSs is differences in skill and interest. I never could get away with taking a leisurely stroll through an unfamiliar war zone without getting shot in the head. Dumb games.
@RiotDemon I generally think I prefer one wide monitor over two small ones because the bezels bother me more than they should. But I’d actually be inclined to believe that if anything, separate monitors may be better for productivity. Having the physical bezels gives you predetermined workspaces to set up a given task, and generally speaking tiling options seem a bit more useful on multiple monitors. As an example, on the two monitors I have on a Win7 machine at work, Win-left/right does a half-screen tile as usual but then another press chucks it further in that direction to the other screen. I can very easily have, say, a PDF open on my main screen with its source file tiled left on my secondary screen and a cygwin console tiled right for various utility needs.
I could use that in a cell phone configuration. I need bigger pockets, tho.
@f00l
In 2010 I made a joke that in several years time people would need bigger pockets due to the increase in the size of phones.
@f00l - Cargo pants?
@f00l
@PlacidPenguin
Cargo pants for me!

I’d buy one if it came with a decent computer and I had space and I was the recipient of a financial windfall.

@KDemo only $1500? Yikes, but… It’s still awesome. Maybe in a few years I can afford it when some competition comes out.
@RiotDemon But considering that I’ve paid almost as much for a CRT (many) years ago…
@RiotDemon - Hold out until meh sells refurbs.
@KDemo the last tv I saw sell here… It seems most of them arrived broken. I’d be seriously hesitant to purchase a monitor.
@walarney I still have a 19" CRT sitting in a room because it’s too damn heavy to bring to the recycling facility.
@RiotDemon I’ve got one, also. I hate to throw it away because it still works, but I’ve got LCDs with better resolution gathering dust as well.
@walarney this just reminded me that I have a 32" regular tv that also needs to go to recycling. That weighs even more.

@medz - Wonder if there’s also a business advantage in viewing additional fields on an excel sheet?
@medz It doesn’t have any more pixels than a pair of normal monitors. Now if you had two of these…
@KDemo yes, but there is no sportsmanship in business
@medz - Didn’t intend to contradict your premise, just extrapolating. I see your point.
@KDemo we cool.

I think it looks cool. I’ve always been kinda envious of people that use two or three monitors. I’m wondering if this would be a nicer option.
I don’t have a desktop right now… I actually wondered if I got one, if I could hook it up to my regular tv.

Fucking awesome
but not me
It’ll live, and probably die, on the back of the software that’s tasked with filling out the non-standard size.
When they get down to $199 I’ll get one.
@cranky1950
Does waiting make you cranky?
@f00l not at all. it used to. When early adopters lose their houses, I sort of feel vindicated.
I’m imagining how many pages of code could be laid out side-by-side.
@awk or a gigantic spreadsheet! Oh man, my spreadsheet game would be so awesome!
