I bought this last time and it serves its purpose well enough at this price point. It is definitely loud. It's not going to pick up stray hairs or debris, but it will get dust and the like. After running it over my queen bed and the kids' two twin beds there was a thick layer of dust coating the filter inside. So, it was definitely pulling dust out. I make no claims on how well the light does its job other than it does come on.
@PurplePawprints I have the same observations. It doesn't do well with cat hair but excellent with dust. I am amazed at how much dust shows up in the filter. My husband has a dust mite allergy and it feels like this vacuum has helped with that.
@PurplePawprints Likewise, which would certainly suggest it's working well in the vacuuming aspect. I don't need a second one, though, so meh face clicky it is tonight!
@iluvmingos you probably want something with a roller attachment. We have one of those on a separate cordless dust buster for the cat hair problem in our house.
@metageist I've been combating this same problem for YEARS. My solution? Get rid of the GD cats (GD=God Damned, I was trying to be brief.) how do you get rid of your GD cats? So glad you asked. Step 1) draw a warm bath. Step 2)
I don't buy the UV thing. From what I've read you need fairly intense UV for a period of time that would probably exceed that of dragging a vacuum across something.
Leather furniture and hard surface flooring. Mattresses get wrapped in anti-allergen things.
@Headly I agree. The mechanism of sanitization is valid. The energy and exposure time are likely to be inadequate to be effective. According to the Verilux (who also sells this device - http://www.verilux.com/uv-products/uvc-sanitizing-furniture-bed-vac/ ), "Based on exposure of UV-C light to test organisms in laboratory on non-porous hard surface, under controlled conditions. MRSA refers to Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus ATCC 33592. During testing, culture organisms showed a 99.9% reduction in MRSA and a 98.7% reduction of the H1N1 virus on surfaces in 1 second. The H1N1 culture organism showed further reduction of 99.9% after a 5 second exposure." One second exposure when vacuuming is a long time. Five seconds is no longer vacuuming.
The pro model isn't worth the extra money, it just auto shutsoff when you let it go and makes a lavender scented fart as you use it that needs to be refilled, however, the company that makes them is SOL.
Bought this last time. The uv light and the beater bar may do a good job on mattresses or furniture, but on my low nap stair carpet it does a miserable job. It barely picks up anything.
Bought the pro version last time and it works pretty well. It IS very loud and the cordless factor kinda sucks but it's a pretty long cord. I recommend it if you're looking for a cheap vacuum for cleaning the bed/s.
@Stallion Really. No beater brush, and the vacuuming slot isn't at the edge, making it not-so-useful on floors. (I knew that when I bought it last time, so I wasn't surprised by its limited use.)
@Stallion My cat has the charming habit of using the litter box and then directly jumping on my bed and burrowing under the covers. It doesn't sound like this model will work well for those little litter grains, but I'd buy one that did that well.
This thing is actually pretty great and well worth it for this price. It does do a shitty job with pet hair, but you can easily tell the difference after cleaning a chair with it even with some hair still sticking to the fabric.
I also use it every time I change sheets on my spring mattress. Can't be hurting matters, and it sure picks some stuff up. It is loud but not terribly so.
Only real gripe is it does get kind of hot the point you can feel the exhaust under the handle warming it up and you shouldn't run it more than 20-30m at a time.
But hey, at this price its a great mini vac and the added potential for GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER of little nasties is pretty awesome.
For the people who got one already -- I'm pretty well covered by Neato vacuums (so long as they don't break down again) for most of my space, but we do have some carpeted stairs. For those, it's a pain in the ass to break out the full size vacuum. Any thoughts on how it might do there?
@eblade Pass. These are great for bedding/upholstery, but horrible for steps because the vacuum slot isn't at the edge and instead of a beater brush, it's just vibration pads.
(Disclaimer: I bought one on the previous offering.)
@Cinoclav@eblade I second that. Gave one of those to my son for his dorm room, says he uses it all the time. We have one at home because it is so great at vacuuming our carpeted stairs. To be clear, I'm referring to the Eureka. I bought one of each of the Moneuals last time on Meh. They work fine, just not on stairs, not on cat hair.
@gregormehndel@cinoclav hmm. yeah, that looks much better than the ancient dustbuster we do have .. which i think comes from the very early days of the dustbuster. Has a tiny opening, and it generally sucks... at sucking. I'll give it a look, thanks for the tip.
look, as delightfully sartorial as your product descriptions are- and yeah, some are so brilliantly twisted that I've bought simply to reward your prose- if I ever get to the point where I think a dedicated vacuum cleaner for my linens, I have asked my friends to shoot me and burn the linens just in case.
@alacrity "Sartorial". I don't think that word means what you think it means. Pretentious vocabularianism bordering on douchebaggery is no replacement for loquacious splendor. And your prose was most assuredly not the latter.
@mike808 "Sartorial: of or relating to tailoring, clothes, or style of dress." I think in this context this is a pretty deciduous word. I don't have a problem with it.
Anybody have any idea how long the UV light lasts and if it's something I could find a replacement for in the future if this company goes out of business?
Recently I've been having bad allergic reactions when I go to bed. Coincidentally, I bought a memory foam mattress from meh. Now I get the scheme. They coated the mattresses with allergens as a way to get us to buy these mattress vacuums. Brilliant! Dastardly, but brilliant.
I bought this last time and I'm happy with the purchase, but it's really funny looking. You will have to hide it when company comes over because it's embarrassing and they will laugh at you.
Comrade @jont would like for me to point out that this technology was developed in the motherland and is in no way affiliated with the decadent West. please purchase this as your duty .............
@jrwofuga Isn't it hard to stock a house with Georgia Red items? I looked, and other than clothing items, it seems hard to get items in Georgia Red (like paint so you could turn everything Georgia Red).
@dashcloud I'm having flashbacks. . . I see small rubber-ish Bluetooth speakers . . . I see a myriad of colors. . . . I see other academic institutions. . . . I see Nebraska red. I see. . . Arkansas red. . . But no Georgia Red?!?!? WTF?!?
And then to top it off, someone said Another color was the "same". No sir. It is not.
@dashcloud yes. Apparently Arkansas red was claimed to be the same as Georgia Red. But any red-blooded American knows that that is not true. Which means that company is run by godless communists. And Meh should not do business with them
Got mine last time for the office, we sometimes cut holes in the walls to put low voltage wiring through, thought the sent of lavender would be a nice plus for our customers when we clean up after ourselves...
Does a crappy job of getting drywall dust out of the carpet, and does not do corners or edges... at all
I brought it home for the upholstery... but it has been sitting in the closet ever since
Just to echo what many of others have said, I bought this last time and it does a great job on getting dust out of mattresses. Not great on pet hair but really great for bedding and couches. No idea what the UV light is really doing though.

@mediocrebot Meh I love you but you couldn't pay me to vacuum my sheets.
this sucks.. haha! oh yea, and Bath!
@jgdovin Sorry to disappoint you. Reviews said this vacuum cannot suck. However, it is a nice looking heavy duty door-stop.
@mediocrelab that's what he said!
GOD DAMNIT! Also, Fuck. Also, Meh.
"Ear-shattering 600W motor needs to be plugged in while in use, so it's not cordless or quiet"
... love you guys.
your ride this?
This must be what it felt like to hear Smashmouth for the first time ever.
Just so wrong.
Here's the good shit:
And this:
@Pavlov - I came here to say Schoolhouse Rock! You win.
@KDemo Ditto. I came here to say that I did indeed read the write-up in the tune of I'm just a bill.
Schoolhouse Meh!
@Matthew told me that this vacuum sucks.
@Thumperchick don't you mean @Mehthew?
Looks just like the mouse I am using right now- same general shape, and color scheme on top.
@dashcloud at first glance I actually thought this was a supremely overpriced mouse.
I bought this last time and it serves its purpose well enough at this price point. It is definitely loud. It's not going to pick up stray hairs or debris, but it will get dust and the like. @metageist I was considering buying it for getting cat hair off of the couch. I'm glad I read your comments!
Step 2)
@brochenzo O.o
@brochenzo One of my cats is a 15 year old grumpy asshole and I'm starting to think that his scorn is keeping him alive indefinitely.
@iluvmingos Cat hair on the couch? Wear a pair of cheap rubber gloves and wipe it up easily.
@brochenzo Brutal, I like it.
I know people will find a way to disable those pesky safety precautions. And then BAM! Instant tanning machine!
@tsm instant 3rd degree burn!
@tsm waiting for the hack your uv sucker thread
@tsm It would be ironic if a purple vacuum made us Boehner orange.
My cat does not approve. Can't ride it. Oh, and it sucks, of course.
"I'm just an instant meh"
Thanks meh.
that's not a Vacuum that's a dustbuster ;)
@Foxborn it's not even a dustbuster as it doesn't have a nozzle, making it much less versatile.
@antsam999 Ah, growing up all handheld Vac were dustbuster, I blame my mon
@Foxborn I've got a bad feeling about this.
I would get this if it came with those cute dust bunnies. Mine don't look as appealing.
@heartny In Norway, dust bunnies are called apartment rabbits.
I don't buy the UV thing. From what I've read you need fairly intense UV for a period of time that would probably exceed that of dragging a vacuum across something.

@mrrlobo especially when: "non-porous hard surface"
If I have to plug a vacuum in it better damn well pick up debris. Meh.

@Chrissyx3 A vacuum to only clean beds? Really?

@eblade Nice feature is being able to flip the brush cover down so you can do the stair risers.
Incredible wright up I'm glad i took the time to read it.

@alacrity Couldn't they just use the linens to bury you old school?
@alacrity ok- moratorium on posting when drunk has been placed.

so...according to the video, this vacuum sucks?
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
@jrwofuga Isn't it hard to stock a house with Georgia Red items? I looked, and other than clothing items, it seems hard to get items in Georgia Red (like paint so you could turn everything Georgia Red).
@dashcloud it isn't necessarily the stocking of the house that it's all about. it's about righting a wrong.
@jrwofuga Now I'm curious- what wrong are you talking about?
@dashcloud I'm having flashbacks. . . I see small rubber-ish Bluetooth speakers . . . I see a myriad of colors. . . . I see other academic institutions. . . . I see Nebraska red. I see. . . Arkansas red. . . But no Georgia Red?!?!? WTF?!?
And then to top it off, someone said Another color was the "same". No sir. It is not.
@jrwofuga So what you're saying is "That which we call Georgia Red would not be the same by any other name" even if the Pantone colors match.
@dashcloud yes. Apparently Arkansas red was claimed to be the same as Georgia Red. But any red-blooded American knows that that is not true. Which means that company is run by godless communists. And Meh should not do business with them
Lavender air freshener in the exhaust - so that after a year it can smell like wet dog @$$ in a field of lavender as opposed to just wet dog @$$.
Got mine last time for the office, we sometimes cut holes in the walls to put low voltage wiring through, thought the sent of lavender would be a nice plus for our customers when we clean up after ourselves...

My valentine gets this for the dog hair on the couch.
