Moar dealz! (?)
15Yeah, I said it. I'm finally tired of Meh just having one deal a day. I've got money burning a hole in my pocket that has Meh's name on it - all Meh has to do is find a way to take it. I won't give it to anyone else. Except maybe (well, who am I kidding - probably) exotic dancers.
Morningsave doesn't do it for me.
Call the experiment a success already and give us moar daily buying opportunities. Slap it up on a different URL and cross pollinate VMP benefits if you have to - but just make it happen. So mote it be.

Morning save needs updated more often.
@regnowsin the whole VMP 10% off and free shipping over there has been fantastic, but i haven't seen enough to spend my money on over there yet.
(im)patiently waiting for new sales.
@luvche21 So no creep-out potato chip maker? They even have a sciency name for it, but whatever :::shudder:::
@therealjrn The potato chip maker is tempting. It could go with the other kitchen gadgets I have bought, used once, and gone "man. Those suck".
@regnowsin @therealjrn I bought one of these back in the day from that woot site, and it's pretty horrible. It was a fun novelty for a time or two, but you get like 15 chips per run, and we could never get them a decent texture.
Definitely would not recommend them. (sorry meh?)
Not one daily deal site which decided to switch to selling numerous items a day has kept me as a customer.
@FroodyFrog More interested in the "why" - elaborate? Is there a limit to the number of deals a day per site or other stipulation you would accept (customer service, type of deal, value, etc.)?
@Pavlov
You would need to speak to a psychologist about that probably.
I like my daily deal sites the way I like my rabid snapping turtles: just one at a time.
I like the model which Meh currently has where the daily deal could be ANY category. You never know what there's going to be.
@FroodyFrog
True psychological avoidance coping. I'll at least give you credit for that.
@FroodyFrog It's mostly the noise and the shouting that keeps me away.
(in a deep voice with a generic eastern European accent)
Hello, my friend! Guess what?! We have this set of lights for sale!
Wait, you don't like that?
Well check out our Plus deals! There's Speakers and Old Computers and Earrings and Dodgy Routers...
Wait, you don't want that either?
Well, my friend, we have Computers and Tools and Kids and Carpets and Other Speakers...
Have I mentioned our Wine?
We have these fun Shirts. They are mostly Cats and Doctor Who. I hear the Internets are full of them, am I right? Hahaha!
Can I interest you in the Closeout section? It is magical place, my friend.
No?! Well, my friend, would you be interested in these Fine Ytalian Watches? Ha ha ha, top quality here.
@FroodyFrog Snapping turtles can't be rabid. Rabies is a mammals-only kind of club. (very exclusive, get hype)
@rhrgrt
@rhrgrt
You missed the french fry tree for the kumquat.
@FroodyFrog I don't like kumquats, and I certainly wouldn't miss a french fry tree.
@rhrgrt
So you're a knit-picker
@lumpthar eggzactly.
my impulse buys rely on perceived deal and or discount. if the store sells hundreds/thousands of items, its hard to think they are all "once in awhile" opportunity.
@FroodyFrog It's nit picking, because I pick nits. I never pick knits, I pick wovens every time.
i want a bandolier of carrots......i miss the old daze.....
@olaffub57 A current BOC? Look in the nearest trash bin. It'll be about the same quality.
Morningsave kinda has the old sellout covered, so will shirt.meh be the next logical step.
Spelling "moar" suggests it's catshirts you'll like. =^.^=
@narfcake The old sellout.woot was the same idea as Woot, just that you had to get there through Yahoo Shopping. IIRC their prices would be slightly lower when they sold the same item, presumably thanks to the Yahoo subsidy.
Apparently, they haven't finished the speaker phase of the experiment.
@KDemo I just want my speakerdocks
@sohmageek Fuck Speaker Docks
Go to woot ya nerd
@legendornothing go to bed, it's a school day.
@Pavlov
@Pavlov it's spring break ya nerd
@legendornothing
I object to you using a term of honor in such a fashion.
@FroodyFrog I know you nerd. You all are nerds. That's why you're all awesome. Wooooo for playful use of compliments
@legendornothing
Not everyone here is a nerd. There are a lot of wannabes (@narfcake - know any t-shirts which would be great for this kind of scenario?)
@FroodyFrog i will make a shirt if you guys want to buy it that says "if meh is too hardcore for you go to woot ya nerd"
@legendornothing oh and sell it on shirtwoot!
@FroodyFrog
http://shirt.woot.com/offers/nerd-happens
@thismyusername I doubt they'd accept that. They still have standards, y'know.
I think something like a Mehathon would take care of everyone's hunger of multiple items.
OK. If they don't screw it up.
Wasn't one deal a day part of the kickstarter promises? I gave my money to an idea, and that idea was one deal a day.
Would be happy if we had an ambivalanche though.
@MrGlass
You see what happened to Woot though...
@FroodyFrog Its a slippery slope, (one we already went a bit toward with the "you missed it" option for VMPs) but an event isn't a big deal to me. If its once a month (woot feels even more frequent than that,t hough I never go check it) it would probably suck, but infrequent would be fine.
@MrGlass
Once they started, they felt the need to do it more often.
Better to just not do it.
Besides, I always thought of Meh as pleasing a handful of people a day (and making the rest of that day's item end up regretting it). Having meh-offs would possibly please more than a handful of people, and I REFUSE to accept that. I can't stand it when people are happy.
@FroodyFrog It would be off brand. Maybe a new sister site then.
@MrGlass
Kickstarter promises? Aren't those worth exactly:
-1*((what-you-paid-for-them)^666)?
(Footnote: this kickstarter valuation formula only applies those projects for which you paid a positive amt of $ to back.
For free or for they-pay-you projects, the promise valuation is a much more intense infinite negative.
For projects you dont join, there is a random, mysterious set of results re promise valuation that may apply: "great relief", "utter boredom", "irritation", and "bitter regret".)
(Which doesnt seem to stop me from kickstarting...)
@MrGlass That doesn't always work.
One shirt site I frequent has 735k+ followers. Its sister site, under 4k. Same owner, same style of designs.
@narfcake
*One of dozens of shirt sites
@narfcake
*One of dozens of shirt sites
@narfcake The sister site might not take off, but it would preserve the fabulous meh brand.
@MrGlass The name says it all - meh.
@FroodyFrog Ramy's only up to three shirt sites, not a dozen.
@Pavlov I guess I should brush up on my dancing then... cause I doubt Meh is going to go multi sale... not presently...
You know, I don't want to have to do more than one dealcheck a day. But if I bought something, I'd be happy if Meh tried to upsell me with another recent deal.
I think the only compromise I could live with is if once an item sold out, another item was put up for sale. Other than that, only one item at a time!
@cinoclav
So in other words, a stripped down version of "Woot meets Woot-Off"
@FroodyFrog Except the replacement item would have more than 6 left in the warehouse and would ideally last the rest of the day. Let's add, if that one sells out too than no more items that day. Max it out at two per day.
@cinoclav It's still a slippery slope that meh doesn't need to go down. If something sells out in an hour, then I guess the other 23 hours will just be spent on .gif threads or something.
@cinoclav
Ok, i get it, you dont want the site to move to the suck zone. Admirable, and part of my mind agrees.
Still, buzzkill.
Sigh.
I have a theory that the site/sites would not suck, as long as the original octopi-breakfasted criminal masterminds continue to own & operate it.
The prices mostly wont suck.
Thd products....well, it's always a happy surprise when they dont suck! Yeah today! Yeah Canon Rebel!
@f00l Agreed. At the same time, I don't fault @snapster for selling Woot. The precedence, zappos, was very "hands off", so why would Amazon want to change Woot's culture?
(Little did we know ...)
@narfcake
Tho i regret what Woot has become, it's gotta be ok that @snapster did the big cash-in. I'm sure i would have taken the money and run, if only someone would have offered me lots of $.
Hey, tho i have nothing to sell, my offer is still good! Where, oh where are my Bezos Bazillions?
Besides @snapster had to get the big payout in order to buy a house-visible-from-space, one big enuf to hold a gigantihumongoloid bouncy house and thereby act as imaginary host for our imaginary gathering.
@f00l
Bouncy house!!!!
@Pavlov Do I understand, you want the mediocre community, and more deals? Or is it the mediocre corp attitude and more deals that you want? That is, I'm trying to understand why your money is only for meh.com and exoticdancers.com. (Note - exoticdancers.com is blocked where I am now, so I don't know what's there.)
Why? Isn't a deal a deal? The main page usually lists some deal sites (under How'd you get here?). Aren't any of those sites good people, too? As a counterargument to myself, I used to frequent dealmac.com, back in the day. They seemed like good people, but now Apple is BIG, and it's all less interesting. Maybe you're bored? I'm bored - I think I have to take a look at exoticdancers.com.
@sligett
I suss we just like Meh deals and community. As long as the deals aren't AmaMeh deals.
@sligett Yes, bored.
Oh, please no. If Meh starts offering 2 items per day, soon it'll be 3 items, then 6 items, then a million billion trillion and eleventy-two items just like Woot.
Then someone will have to start another one-deal-per-day site.
circle of life
@walarney
@walarney
And
what i want is more secret VMP deals, like socks!!
moar socks!
@username wait, there are secret VMP deals???
@justan79
There have been in the past. Yes.
Good idea!
Maybe clicking the Meh button should load another deal . . . and so on, and so on and so on
Might be cool for April Fool's at least - click the Meh button for fuku(o)
I think you're half right. I want more deals ... on Tuesdays. It seems like "2 for Tuesday" is always the same things (tumblers, speakers) so I would prefer a little more variety on that day. Example: With Batman v. Superman here and Civil War fast approaching, maybe have two items from the DC and Marvel universe (that aren't drinkware?) Otherwise I am happy with the daily deal format.
I would like moar variety and stuff. Beyond that, pretty much willing to trust the existing criminal mastermind overlords with what they might try. Unless they turn into hipsters or sell ownership.
Then meh.
