@mauisean i got a friend thats constantly making us watch whatever funny video he found that day while having cigars around a campfire. reaaaaaaallllllly fucking annoying..
@jdp I bought the other indoor model they sold earlier. So far not a lot of complaints. If you get too much water splashed on the face the sound can distort, but i found hanging it from the showerhead got around that (though i guess everybody has different water pressure and splashback, so your mileage may vary there). I bought it to play podcasts while i shower and it ultimately didn't have the ability to push nuanced talky dialogue over the sound of the water, but that may be less a failure of the device and more the unrealistically optimistic expectations i had of what kind of clarity you can expect in shower conditions. Now i just use it for music and it sounds great.
@Karzan They work GREAT in the shower. However, the clip does not open wide enough to slip over the shower head pipe. I hang mine on a shower curtain hook.
Okay, already, @snapster. I think you can call the speaker experiment a success and move on to the next one. If I can speak for the other guinea pigs here, we're trained and ready for the next testing phase.
By the way my Cheerson nano copters aren't doing so great (broken retaining clips, swelling batteries) so if you could sell some of those next week for like $2, that'd be great. I figure with all the knives and speakers lately, those guys are bound to pop up soon.
Only five states regulate the use of headphones by cyclists, and generally the limitations are directed at all vehicle operators. Two of those states–Florida and Rhode Island–prohibit any use of headsets. The intent is to ensure that vehicle operators won’t inhibit their ability to hear sirens and vehicle horns.
The other three states that regulate the use of headsets–California, Delaware and Maryland–prohibit their use in both ears; in these states, one ear must be left uncovered. Maryland makes an exception to this law for riders on bike paths.
@earmstrong I have no issues hearing audio podcasts over wind (and other ambient) noises. Audio quality varies among podcasts though and occasionally I need to turn down the volume to minimize distortion of some voices. These units are almost perfect for podcast playback* and I would highly recommend them.
The controls do not allow for the 'scrubbing' of audio however which prevents you from skipping over audio (ads) or rewinding.
@earmstrong I too use them while biking for podcasts, and yeah if it's windy or a truck/bus passes by you'll lose a few words here and there. But I wouldn't want it to be much louder as that would seem rude to others on the road. I've only tried to use the phone/mic function once and had to pull over and call the person back.
It let's me listen to audio on my bike and is going strong after several 20min commutes in the rain. Overall I like the speaker especially for these Meh prices.
Can I mount these to my axles and secure them to the spokes with zip ties? I'm afraid they'll fall off the handlebars or hit me in the head when I'm doing the back flips.
Tempting for entertainment during our land clearing work up north, but it's now $9.95 on Amazon, shipped free (third party Prime so no sales tax for us unlike sold by Amazon). And I only need one. So actually cheaper than Meh and I'm not gonna turn VMP back on for this. Gadget budget already under severe stress this month.
I do regret missing out on the bookcase speakers, but I feel like the bulk of my meh purchases are internally justified by the fact that I had already intended (or wanted) to buy something like that... someday.
Take the utility knife, for instance: I need a new box knife and bought this because I hadn't gotten around to tracking down a new Superknife.
If I had needed a speaker, the ugly one would have been a sure thing. These? No stereo, good but not great, and the real clincher (because I do want a Bluetooth unit or two for various cars): if I bought this I'd lose the internal justification to buy something nicer.
Easy set up but haven't been cycling due to insane weather in PA - snow, insane wind storms, rain storms, snow... but sounded OK while puttering around the house (and I really liked the re-usable and inventive mounting system).
@OldCatLady Hey OCL, did these sell out? or even if they did to w_28 they may be back as I believe this is the second time around and if there is a second time around there is usually third and forth and fifth and sixth and
Changed my life.
I put one on the steering wheel of my car so I can listen to podcasts on my way to work.
Now I am much much knowledgeable about a variety of subjects and I can share that knowledge with others so the people that I work with avoid me and I’ve become a social outcast.
But I know a lot.
These have become my favorite Bluetooth speakers. Rugged & good sound. One flaw is the little charger door can come off. Which just killed one of mine. Because I dropped it in the spa. Now I am sad. I would buy another pair if offered just to be sure I would have one around for a long time.
OK, way more than two years after buying these and putting them in our RV, I finally cracked them open and used them and holy shit what a great purchase this was. Stuck at a campground where the people next to us had a trailer with outdoor speakers blaring crotch-rock all day and night, we charged these little guys up, closed all the windows, and enjoyed our own music for 2+ days per charge. A++++ would buy again!

Is the face looking straight, or sideways. Weeeeird.
Bought these last time. Surprisingly decent sound. Kind of impressed with the Ion products I've bought so far.
No great bargain... more bluetooth garbage
@mcemanuel They're actually not garbage. Don't knock it til you try it.
//What makes a good Bluetooth bike speaker? Staying on your bike is a start.//
Reminds me of my favorite bike joke.
Lance Armstrong should be commended for biking on drugs.
I tried it once, ran into a mailbox and woke up in someone else's yard.
@MehnofLaMehncha Glad I bought these the last time. Great build quality and sound.
Dear meh,
If you could just let me know ahead of time when you are going to sell this type of item, I would be much more caught up on my sleep.
Thanks,
Mehdaf
@mehdaf Exactly! 9 million speaker sales a month are costing me sleep!
bring on more 2 buck Star Wars cups!
But give us some of the good guys next time.
@mcemanuel @hchavers
yoda yoda yoda...
oh oh oh deadpool please...
might be cool if you could pair them for stereo, but doesn't seem so...
@JonJon That's what I want to know. Meh?
The people who buy this are most likely the same Jerks playing me their favorite songs while I'm out on a hike. Sell more headphones.
@mauisean i got a friend thats constantly making us watch whatever funny video he found that day while having cigars around a campfire. reaaaaaaallllllly fucking annoying..
@jihiggs Yeah, cigars are kinda gross.
Good point mauisean
Buying this for a couple of weirdos I know that do outside stuff.
@Jetlag Eww, outside stuff.
Oh well, I'll check back toMehrrow.
How well would one of these work in the shower? Seems like it would be okay but has anyone with one tried that?
@jdp - It's mentioned in the write-up, no real details, though. Seems as if it would be fine.

Have you run out of bottles and knives?
Change your website name to meh-speaker city.com
These should sell at a fast clip.
@awk Ha!

@awk you really should recycle that battery.
@awk mine has been doing fine, but I've only had it for a month or so.
What is this retaining clip that you speak of?
Any suggestions on avoiding a selling battery?
Keep an ion these, they're going faster than your sister on prom night.
@mike808 But not as fast as your Mom!
@therealjrn Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Is 1.5W adequate to clearly hear an audio podcast over wind noise?
Similarly, how is the speakerphone functionality with road noise?
While headphones are legal for bicyclists in my state, that's not true everywhere. From
http://www.bicyclelaw.com/road-rights/a.cfm/road-rights-listen-up1:
Only five states regulate the use of headphones by cyclists, and generally the limitations are directed at all vehicle operators. Two of those states–Florida and Rhode Island–prohibit any use of headsets. The intent is to ensure that vehicle operators won’t inhibit their ability to hear sirens and vehicle horns.

Just about the same price on Amazon for prime members when you factor in shipping
@shade_tree My thoughts too...a mehniscule discount, not worth tonight's mehdnight wait, smehartdpost delay and would only want one anyhow.
My gosh, I hate when I do that. It's 11:56 and I have four minutes until the new meh. Here I am at 1:56 wondering how that 4 minutes went by so fast.
@wew at least the crap didn't sell out already for you.
Meh double talk tonight speaks volumes :)
Can I mount these to my axles and secure them to the spokes with zip ties? I'm afraid they'll fall off the handlebars or hit me in the head when I'm doing the back flips.
@Not_Ken_M What ?
@jmbunkin Trying to accessorize with this...
I really don't need these. I think if I bring another bluetooth speaker into the house my wife will injure me. But, dang, they look so handy.
Does it have an aux port? It would be perfect for getting things done around the house and I wouldn't have to wear headphones all day!
A ridiculous amount of meh in this deal. Come on meh, are you even trying not to try anymore? I hope not.
Bought some of these in the past and I'm happy with them for the price.
Tempting for entertainment during our land clearing work up north, but it's now $9.95 on Amazon, shipped free (third party Prime so no sales tax for us unlike sold by Amazon). And I only need one. should have attached them to one of these:
I do regret missing out on the bookcase speakers, but I feel like the bulk of my meh purchases are internally justified by the fact that I had already intended (or wanted) to buy something like that... someday.

If it was 1 for 8 I'd grab it just because it's a cheap waterproof speaker. I can't imagine needing 2 monaural speakers
So far it works great for skating!
Easy set up but haven't been cycling due to insane weather in PA - snow, insane wind storms, rain storms, snow... but sounded OK while puttering around the house (and I really liked the re-usable and inventive mounting system).
How can I still buy them ?
@winzz_28 They're available on Amazon. Meh is a one-deal-per-day site.
@OldCatLady Hey OCL, did these sell out? or even if they did to w_28 they may be back as I believe this is the second time around and if there is a second time around there is usually third and forth and fifth and sixth and
@fjp999 So how can @winzz_28 still buy them? You have a link to the maybe, maybe not sale?
@therealjrn You could Ask Irk.
@fjp999 You were the one muddying the water, not Irk. The @winzz_28 asked where he could buy them. OCL gave a good answer.
@therealjrn Sorry. Will take back my answer! Didn't mean to muddy the waters with the fact that meh often times will bring back items.
The last time this specific item was up for sale on meh was on Feb 12, 2015.
If one is not aware you can check this link for all past deals:
https://meh.com/forum?category=deals&sort=date-created
and yes OCL gave a great answer.
@fjp999 Yeah. I know, didn't mean to bang on you so hard. You know they might show up at morningsave too right?
