Mercari is dead to me.
10I dropped in on mercari.com this week for the first time in a few months, and they’ve shifted all fees (credit card & their profit) from sellers to buyers.
I’d heard some chatter about it a while ago, but from my point of view everything on their site is now overpriced. Farewell.

Euwww. Thanks for the warning.
Didn’t the sellers just include the fees in their prices before anyway?
@phendrick Prices seem the same, plus the extra fees on top of the listed price.
Also added Japan based sellers. I have not been looking much anyway.
I never used it, outside of the US I have only used BangGood & AliExpress (part of the Alibaba group). I had an issue with one of their vendors (the were based in the US) they said the shipped it part via FedEx, it was delivered to the wrong address in the wrong state, over 500-1000, miles away. It took a couple weeks for the vendor to admit to AliExpress they made a mistake. Finally I got my money back. I order the part Va Amazon. I am now ordering small stuff again from AliExpress.
That is the First time I had ANY problems with them.
Between Amazon marketplace, Facebook marketplace, Craigstlist, and whatever the eBay umbrella covers… how many more consumer-to-consumer services are there?
@pakopako
Do yard sales count??
I had read about that and numerous complaints. I don’t buy much these days but certainly when I buy anything I think about total price, not listed price without the fees, shipping, etc. It then means it is harder to figure out the actual cost.
