I saw a “responsible person” in a car by herself wearing double masks. Apparently she’s very responsible!
I don’t wear masks as the mandates have been lifted. But i do wear them when i go into nursing homes (for work). I understand that the elderly need help being protected from things like the cold virus, flu virus, etc. The et cetera in this case would be the sars covid 19 virus. This makes me thoughtful, respectful, and responsible too.
@Joeinoh
Yeah, since I work in an ER it will be a while before we’re done with masks I’m sure. Not to mention all of the multiple doctor visits that I take my elderly mom to.
Of course, The masks I wear at work are supplied by the hospital… so I’m not really in the market.
@chienfou@Joeinoh I don’t understand why the “lone person in her car wearing a mask” has become a trope for derision.
Maybe she’s on her way to pick up her immunocompromised mother and doesn’t want to fill the cabin of her vehicle with her germs.
Maybe she’s traveling between two places where she needs to wear masks and she just didn’t bother to take her mask off because wearing it is not a big deal.
Maybe she’s just cold.
Maybe she has allergies.
Maybe she isn’t comfortable with her appearance and is prefers to keep her face covered.
Maybe she just wants to wear a mask.
@Limewater
Yes - you put it better than I was going to. I thought she could very well be on her way to pick up someone immunocompromised, and you’d want keep the air in the car clean on your way there.
No one knows why they were wearing a mask in their car other than them. And who cares why?
If someone wants to walk around with a shoe on their head that’s their business. People are free to wear what they want in their private spaces and public spaces.
I always wear my mask in the car en route to Aldi’s – saves a few secs in the race for shopping (there are always slightly fewer carts than customers at Aldi – that way, employees never have to retrieve them from the lot).
But really, I see a lot of drivers wearing them around here. Colder weather on the East Coast, maybe? I use the head strap type – kind of a pain taking my hat on and off to remove and replace masks so for a quick shopping run, leaving the mask on is easier
Well, you’re in luck, cousin. Com’on down to Mike’s Used Mask Lot. We have 'em, every size, color, shape, and fit, clean (mostly), lightly broken in with low breath rates by little old ladies on Sundays only.
Buy Here! Pay Here!
Cousin, don’t go away barefaced or empty handed, or even empty faced and bare handed, we’ve got a gently used mask for you.
We’ve got '20 models galore. And we’re overstocked on '21 models. KN-95s, N-95s, NK-95s, one strap, two straps, no straps – anything you could want in a mask.
Reasonable prices. No money down. Our prices are so low, they’ll leave you breathless.
Don’t pay full price for a new mask. Com’on down to Mike’s. That’s Mike’s Used Mask Lot conveniently located near the Mall, where no body goes anymore, so there’s lots of free parking.
The same old recycled stuff I don’t need from the other sites, over and over, is beyond boring. Masks, eh, I will be using them for things long after the plague has fallen out of discussion; I like not having allergy issues, and not catching colds all the time.
I would say I’m sick of masks. But my company just returned to office. And on first day back everyone was either hanging out in the kitchen talking or in a meeting room for hours without masks. Screw that. I’m staying masked. I’m asthmatic. Even a simple cold wrecks my lungs for weeks. Don’t need Covid.
@Vrysen I have a blood cancer. I’ll be using masks for a long time. But I buy powecom ones from the distributor in NY. They were on the CDC list of those that passed and were acceptable substitutes the entire time that list was active. I saw so many fail with the tests. Can’t risk whether or not these are “failed” ones or counterfeit.
@ironcheftoni@medz Yep, for the Meh birthday event last year, they had a full day Mehrathon of just combinations of masks and pixels. A few of them were IRKs in disguise.
Nope.
Not at all. Love masks. Would love them in more colors!
@jmichalek0121 I got a box of tie dyed ones on overstock
@ironcheftoni heck yeah!
I’d probably buy more meh masks if they had some kn95s in black or other colors!
I agree tired of masks.
Can we get meh branded masks? That would be fun.
This is sort of the ‘perfect storm’ product for meh.
#win/win/win

I don’t see the comedy.

“Trope for derision” huh?
That’s cute.
@chienfou @Kyeh @Limewater
Really? Keep the air in the car clean? Really?
@chienfou @Joeinoh @Kyeh You sound like the kind of guy who pulled down his mask to sneeze.
@Joeinoh

@Ignorant @Joeinoh
I wear my mask. So does my husband.
I don’t want Covid doing to my brain what alcohol did to my mom’s.
It wasn’t pleasant.
@chienfou @Joeinoh @Limewater Thank you for this reply. The derision bothers me as well.
Yes.
I don’t usually comment on stuff like this but this is a stupid thing to say.
I am tired of wearing them but I don’t mind the sales.
Masks! You want masks?

@Vrysen Same here. Will be masking up for my return to office.
@mike808 @Vrysen I help with the care for an elderly cancer patient. It will be a long time before my face is seen in public.

Love it. I hope the next mehrathon theme is:
Masks
Every
Hour
@medz I think they did that already. IIRC, it was masks and trackr pixels
@ironcheftoni

masks… they’re the new Knives and Speaker docks!
I, for one, could use a new mask
