Meh just earned some brownie points!
111So, get this. I arrive home late last week to find a package from Target. I begin to think back only to realize that I haven't made any purchases from Target in quite some time. As I open to package my eyes immediately shift to some bright pink stuff, OH SHIT BABY STUFF?! At that moment it completely dawned on me that Target was one of the places the wifey created a baby registry. I then gaze to the gift receipt, curious as to the kind soul that could send such a gift.
"From your friends at Meh!"
You rock stars, that was sooo fucking thoughtful!
My wife turns to me asking who sent package. I told her that Meh sent the package. Initially confused, she immediately responses, "I didn't know Meh sold baby stuff, but at least you got a good deal huh?" Yea, a really good deal! Needless to say, you've earned some brownie points from the wife and she is going to allow me to continue hanging out with you crazies. As a gift in return, I bestow upon you a very rare treat, me in a picture.
Thanks again, Meh. You all are a constant reminder that there really are good people in the world and true happiness comes from surrounding yourself with those people.

That's awesome. Those are definitely average blankets. Although, he looks too excited to be receiving something from meh.
That restores my belief in humanity - at least until I turn on the late local news.
@gnidder is right: That's pretty awesome!
Congrats!
Wow! That's wonderful. The Meh staffers rock. Cute baby blankets too.
Nice! You finally got your goat prize.
Congrats again on your baby girl, and meh, you are too cool.
Dammit, now I want brownies.
@jaremelz I am also susceptible to suggestion. This might help. http://www.chow.com/users/recipes/26020-microwave-brownie-in-a-mug-single-serving
@Alien Nice! I keep meaning to try mug cakes. Also, am I the only one who giggles at the term 'dump cakes'? I can't be.
@jaremelz you are not!
Awww, now that really is awesome. Congrats to you and the wife. Welcome the newborn to the world of meh :-)
Way to go Meh. :thumbs up:
That is awesome! Congratulations on the blankets and the baby!
Of course I too also want brownies now.
That's really great! Way to overachieve, mediocre.
@studerc Don't worry, I won't consider that your goat prize ;)
We're happy to help out, thanks for hanging around with us and being our lab rat!
@JonT Extend my personal thanks to people around the office. You all are truly amazing, well above and beyond Mediocre for sure! I should also add that this is getting quite a few stars, I attribute the breakdown as such, 74% Meh awesomeness, 26% first ever pic of @studerc
@studerc You look pretty much the way you do in my mind's eye. Which is a compliment of sorts, FWIW.
@studerc I have to ask... How did they find your Target registry? I mean I assume it wouldn't be too hard to take your username and see the forum posts then lookup your name/address... but I have to say everyone at Meh that I've had interactions with have been so great. Doing something like this is an awesome unexpected way that companies, nah I personally think it's the employees that did it and the company will get some of the credit, get loyal customers that last. Also It's awesome to get something like that unexpected! Congrats again man! Also I hope you got one of the ip cameras, I haven't set the one up from Meh yet but I have a similar one in the baby's room, it is an amazing baby monitor.
@sohmageek Target's registry is quite user friendly. By now, I feel that it's pretty common knowledge (to the constant forum dwellers)that my name is Casey Studer, typing that name in yields but one result. Thus, a quick and dirty way to find my address. I also bargained with @thumperchick to buy the dropcam she won in a Rush. I've got that little guy set up already and it's working like a charm.
@studerc Target does not disclose your address from your registry.
@mikibell Though if they bought off the registry they have the option for Target to ship directly to them without releasing said information.
@sohmageek I also had posted it back when I made that ill fated thread to send @studrec baby shower gifts. At the time people were to email me and I'd give them the address. Then I found out about the registry and posted that to that thread. As a result a few people have his address. Most do not.
Congratulation on becoming parents soon. Meh and Target are 2 of my favorite places to shop.
I do not recommend Costco. They sell in huge bulk pack. When baby grows to next diaper size, you will throw away half of the old diaper size.
I do not recommend Babies-R-Us. They jack up the regular prices to offer sales and coupons. Their fake sale prices just match Target's regular prices.
I do not recommend Walmart. Selections are limited, and return is a pain. Some cheap items are made for Walmart only.
I love Target. Good selections. Easy return. Regular prices are a few cents more than Walmart. But coupons and weekly sales make Target the cheapest.
I also recommend Target Visa card to save 5% on everything. It makes return a breeze - Target will look up purchases on the card without receipt.
I do not work for Target. Just sharing some money saving tips from one Meh Dad to another. :-)
@mediocrelab
i disagree about costco for sizes 3 and 4, and maybe 5. You can buy those in bulk and not have a issue.
@mediocrelab It's been about 10+ years since we were buying diapers, but when we did it was at Target. Also bought their wipes. The proof is on my shop shelves - parts, etc... stored in those plastic boxes.
But honestly, we don't buy much there anymore. Seems we can find most of what we buy cheaper elsewhere.
@mediocrelab Keep in mind some of us that are on our third thing...I mean kid...know that if we happen to bump a diaper size up mid-pack we can always troll...ask around daycare...if someone needs that size and either sell them or directly trade them with other dads or the daycare. So you still get the cheap prices of bulk Costco/Sam's without having to worry too much.
@studerc Congratulations on the growing family!
And thanks meh and all the staffers. Once again you've set a high standard for being mediocre.
That is so cool. Way to go, meh and lucky you, @studerc.
@studerc
So after coming into the office and telling @MEHcus and @hollboll how cool it was of them to buy you some baby stuff only to be met with "we didn't do that!", I think we've reached the conclusion that this wasn't directly from the Mediocre offices and was actually someone else from the community.
It makes me super happy that our community takes care of each other and can consider themselves "friends at Meh" but we didn't want to take credit when we didn't earn it.
So thanks, Meh users for being good people, taking care of each other and making the community awesome.
@JonT Huh, I thought for sure it was someone from Mediocre. Well, dear random stranger that sent something to my house, thank you! For sake of privacy, I will share that the individual that sent the item was named Michelle. Thank you Michelle!
@JonT Now on an equally important note, why haven't you all sent me a baby shower gift yet? Or for that, a goat prize? Or for that, the rest of fuku 3? Haha.
@JonT What a classic turn of events. Cool that folks believed it was Meh that did it. Even cooler that someone in the community apparently stepped up. Or could it simply have been a friend/relative of Mr. @studerc?
@RedOak I didn't recognize the name at all, thus it must have been someone from the forums.
@JonT Do you reckon that someone hacked the user database to gain access to STuderc's address?
@eyewerks Ok, I fess up. I already apologized to @Jont for unintentionally misrepresenting myself as a meh.com employee. I didn't want any recognition or anything; I just wanted to make Casey smile. I love babies and am ever so slightly jealous that he is going to be drooled all over for the next 3-4 years :). I didn't mind that Meh received the thank you, because sending baby gifts is something they would do, albeit they would send a pallet worth! However, I cannot allow them to be maligned and I certainly did NOT hack a database to get Casey's address. Truly, all I did was google Casey's name and profession to find out in what state he lived and then I found his baby registry. Target did not give me his address. I didn't know that they also included my real name (such a bummer). I apologize for any consternation this may have caused anyone about the security of their data.
@mikibell THANK YOU! That was extremely thoughtful of you and the wife and I greatly appreciate the gifts!
@mikibell Aww, very nice!
@mikibell WTG!!! Love it! How kind of you!
@studerc check that spreadsheet I sent you way back when if you get any more.
@studerc She is on that spreadsheet I sent you. I finally found it and checked.
It was probably someone on the gift registry that knows you used Meh.
Hmmm, time to set up a registry for that impending wedding of mine.
@darksaber99999 I had a friend a few years ago that was doing a big marketing/planning project for class. She decided to do a wedding business that essentially would set up all aspects of the wedding for a couple. She set up a registry at Target and we found out that after your wedding date you get a coupon in the mail for 10% off anything in your registry. We put all sorts of movies and electronics on the registry and picked them up at 10% off. That was awesome.
@barney @studerc said pink and yet no love from you!!
@mikibell Oops! I love lavender (for babies).
@Barney
@mikibell Awww.
@mikibell purple miki... purple
Nice move Meh! And congrats on the baby @studerc!
Awww! That's sweet. Nicely done, Meh. :)
Good form meh! Good form!!!!
awww.
congrats on the bundle of joy. and the upcoming baby.
All part of their long term strategy to ensure the next generation of meh.com customers!
Kudos on the baby and your imminent insomnia. I don't want Meh to get all full of itself but I was looking at cnn and then my local paper and counted the headlines. 11 headlines about murder or general atrocities and that was not including the Bieber roast. Hiyo. Anyhoo I come here and read this and honestly it's not about who did it, meh or another, it's just a little extra reassurance that if you look harder you can still find the good. Still there. Enough sap. Go about your day.
@poppaearl =,)
@studerc
PSST... http://kids.woot.com/plus/buyers-picks-new-baby-must-haves-1
Diapers aren't that bad of a price.. Sorry to Meh staff for posting a woot deal..
So somehow I missed this (I'd heard something about baby gifts and new about the kid, but never saw this particular thread)--until just a few minutes ago. Nicely done @mikibell and meh (for fostering such a great community). I love this place. Congrats, @studerc.
@joelmw
@joelmw "knew" not "new," Joel. WTF?
@studerc curiosity is killing me...is she here yet???
@mikibell - It seems so: https://meh.com/forum/topics/2-for-tuesday-pure-copper-moscow-mule-mugs#55517b99a1e211940c71a3e6
@KDemo oh..thank you! I don't drink so I didn't read that thread...awwwww so happy for @studerc..
@mikibell @Kdemo I didn't read the thread except for a few posts... I have been quite busy at work the past few days... Also mikibell you don't drink? I picked that up cup mostly for remembering my childhood. I used to have a cup very similar at my grandparrents house for water. It was my special water cup. :) Now my son will have one. :)
@sohmageek Actually that made me go looking for the milkshake glasses I had when I was a kid... and my mother had when she was a kid... Obviously the image is of a new product, but close as I can find... now if I Can find the koozies that my grandmother had (she probably made them herself so I doubt it) Thank you Meh & @mikibell for remembering my childhood at my great grandparrents that I haven't thought about in over 20 years :) I can almost smell the house they lived in.
Speaking of target registry, I used them for my wedding. I was joking around and scanned a sponge bob pillow. Guess who got 5 fucking sponge bob pillows?
