Meh hates my address :(
1I don't buy as much as I otherwise would, because no matter what card I use, meh can't verify my billing address! I've tried typing it in every possible way (I'm not posting my address you weirdos... but let's say part of it is 21st St S - I've tried 21st Street S, 21st St South, 21st Street South, Twenty-First Street South, whatever) and it never works, no matter what card I use. A long time ago I emailed for help and they told me some cards are just picky like that. But all my cards (through different banks/providers) are like that!
I end up having to buy a gift card online and pay fees if I really, really want something. Like a Greek yogurt maker.
What's the deal, meh?

Maybe it's in the system as 21th? Or maybe 21rd?
Sorry, not halpful at all.
@lumpthar This would be stupid but is possible, because people are sometimes stupid!
Try switching the apt number line and the address line.
@thismyusername I don't have an apartment number, so nothing to switch :( I think I tried this once a long time ago with just a space in the address line and it was still no go.
I have the purchase page telling me that I have issues to resolve when I enter a new address. I've got all green bars on that page so I dunno how my issues are relevant to meh :\
@Lotsofgoats It's okay, we all have issues. meh should offer therapy.
welp, figured out my problem with adding a new address... it only worked for me if I started typing it in with a saved address previously selected, rather than choosing the blank from the dropdown -- @shawn @katylava
Can you verify your address with USPS.com as valid per their standards?
@ACraigL Indeed I can! Indeed it is! The only difference is they use the ZIP+4. Which I would totally use, if meh allowed it.
I had an issue a few months back with trying to enter new information on the billing page. Even though it looked like the old info was deleted on my end, it was getting all jumbled up with the new. When I emailed support, they were able to wipe out all my payment history and address information and everything went perfectly after that. Perhaps it's worth another email to them, requesting they do this?
Good luck!
Write in to meh.com/support to ask for help.
@Thumperchick I did! Almost a year ago, though. Maybe they've come up with some hot new fix since then.
maybe it is S 21st st as opposed to 21st st S
Perhaps it needs to be entered as:
South
21st street
or
21 st
South
I live in an apartment and had this issue. I had to enter it as:
3-D
623 E. 68th street
Move.
Look at the bill or statement from the card. Enter it exactly as it is on that and you should be good.. also try removing the 'st' on 21st.
Call your credit card company and have them spell out what they are looking for.
Does the card work other places, or is this just a problem on meh? It might be worth getting a hold of whoever issued you the card to see what information it's being checked against? (I think it's usually primarily the zip that they're concerned with for security)
Also, not sure if it would make a difference, but you can also sign in with Google & Amazon I think.
@Chops It works everywhere except meh! I'm signed in with Google.
Most credit card systems don't allow any punctuation. The suggestion to call your card company, briefly explain the problem, and ask the rep to read you (letter by letter, make NO assumptions what the system says) your address exactly as his/her screen shows it was right on target.
When I worked for a credit union, I occasionally ran into a similar problem with a member's address. Fortunately, the credit union was the card issuer, so we had some leeway in tweaking the address in the card database. Usually the format the USPS uses is what the card should show, but one never knows. You may find it easier in the long run to ask your card company to make a minute formatting change in their address record. I once had a member whose address was so peculiar that I used what would usually be a non-usable format. Many companies have the USPS "clean up" records annually, reformatting them and redoing abbreviations to the USPS's official guidelines. My guy would call us once a year, when his address had been cleaned up and his statement didn't arrive, and we'd change his address back to the weird-but-working format.
One last option: Regardless of what else happens, ask the card-services rep if s/he can leave a note in your account that this in an ongoing problem. Sometimes the merchant will call the card issuer for verification of the address, and as long as the information is correct, regardless of what format it's in, the card services people can usually okay it.
And just for funsies, if you go here http://pe.usps.gov/cpim/ftp/pubs/Pub28/pub28.pdf and jump to Page 5, you'll see the USPS guidelines.
TMI: I used to write, publish, and maintain a newsletter that was mailed monthly to 13,000 subscribers. The address stuff used to make me crazy.
Good luck!
@magic_cave This is just what I'll have to do! It happens with any card, regardless of the provider... maybe I live in another dimension :(
@mideelisland @thumperchick 99% of the issues we see where people get the "address failed verification" error is because the bank has the address down wrong in their system. If this pops up again, check and make sure they have it correct on their end. If they do and you're still having problems let https://meh.com/support know and we'll research it for you.
I tried all day on the yoghurt maker, couldn't make the site say anything but 'you have a problem'. As a last ditch effort I tried signing on with the exact same card using my Android Kindle, and the darn thing went through immediately. I'm guessing in my case it was the browser (Chrome) that messed me up. So my advice would be to try another device or browser ... worked for me.
