How about this: Send me $100/week and your email address and I'll send you an email every day telling you what the day's Meh is. Sounds like a great plan, huh?
@RicoSuave@bluedog@copperx I'd do it for 5 easy payments of $19.99. Or hit me up about our easy credit terms. Pay upfront and I'll give you a $10 signing bonus and some meaningless digital memento (probably just a stupid gif I stole from someone else). Hurry! Offer ends soon.
If Woot's emails remind you to go to Meh, it sounds like they don't need to email you- the end goal has already been accomplished.
If you really want daily emails from Meh, I suggest buying every deal and clicking the email button at checkout. Or start campaigning to be the October scapegoat- you'll get plenty of emails that way
agreed @Thumperchick I have enough junk in my email as it is. I come over for the "Good" conversation, Then wander over to the deal (might explain why I missed something I wanted, then again they were "Low" quantity
Boy everybody seems pretty down on the idea. I think it's a fine idea. And they could set the default to being no email, but for the two of us who want one we could sign up for an automated email. It wouldn't be hard to set-and-forget for them, and might remind me to look at it each day.
Well, Meh wants us to actually come here every day. If we get a daily email (that would probably have the same info as the home page), there would be little incentive to come to the actual page if it's something I'm not actually going to buy.
@luvche21No they could have a daily toon probably featuring a couple of ratty looking donkeys calle the funky burros. And they could talk about stupid stuff you know really original anyway it don't just hafta be the stuff on the deal page. No really
@cranky1950 But then that defeats the purpose of sending a daily email, right? Because they'd want to give us a reason to come to the site. I'm just saying it may not be the wisest business move for them.
@2many2no Right now meh is the only Twitter account I get text messages from. It works pretty well. Of course, I have an alarm set for 11:59 EST on my phone, so I'm usually there already. Still.
You have to get an email from Woot to remember to check Meh...
When you get on your internet device, just go to meh.com first thing- not fb, dont tweet, no foxnews, no npr, no arstechnica, no daily toonxxx, no reddit/r/cute until Meh.com - do it tomorrow, do it 45 years from now, do it FOREVER!
@alacercogitatus Couldn't you just schedule a job to send yourself an email with the subject 'CLICK MEH BUTTON' instead of going through the API hoops? Either way, I love it.
@brhfl I could - but my process allows me to update Phillips Hue lights, change my Nest, Check me into Swarm, Update a Google Spreadsheet, control a node copter, send text, request ride from uber, etc etc etc.
I've been lazy to implement this for quite a while, but i finally got around to it. I just sent out the first daily digest to users who opted in at MehStalker
From now on, users who subscribe to the daily digest will get an email alert any time a new item goes up for sale.
i used the magic that is my digital calendar i use for all of my important things, and set up a recurring, never ending appointment for meh o'clock. it is better than an email in that it reminds me not to book show or movie tickets at meh o'clock.

@bluedog @copperx I'll do it for $99.99. no tax included though

They refrain from daily emails to preserve the child-like joy and wonder of seeing the new deal on meh.com itself.

Use the Force, er, I mean the Googles, Luke...
@snapster has a pretty meh attitude towards email marketing. I agree with him.

But then I would have even MORE people to compete with when a fukubukuro comes up...
Circadian rhythm = no need for email.
@Pavlov love it. = no email for you.
@Pavlov I got rhythm, don't need email, I got my meh. Who could ask for anything more?
@Pavlov @snapster How very Pavlovian of you.
@joelmw Yes, the beauty truly is in the codename . . . the bell rings every day at the same time, we all come running.

@luvche21 Plus, if it's not about the product, they have more work in creating more content.
Get Meh Stalker, it will successfully freak you out at 11:55pm every night.
@The_Baron The first time that notification went off it scared the crap out of me. @lichme still makes fun of me for it.
@Thumperchick I do still find it hilarious
@lichme Wait, how did you see it? Are you recording us with our phones' cameras in the app?!?! Creep! Stranger danger!
...or you could follow meh on Twitter.
@2many2no or be their chinbook friend
@2many2no Right now meh is the only Twitter account I get text messages from. It works pretty well. Of course, I have an alarm set for 11:59 EST on my phone, so I'm usually there already. Still.
@joelmw smart idea! Off to twitter now..
Or if it just has to be an email, set up IFTTT to email you every time @wearemeh tweets.

I've setup a process that uses the api to send me an email with details. Sole purpose is to remind me to click the button on weekends.
@alacercogitatus Couldn't you just schedule a job to send yourself an email with the subject 'CLICK MEH BUTTON' instead of going through the API hoops? Either way, I love it.

@alacercogitatus so not really its sole purpose, then?
@walarney sole as in primary. I'm still building it out.
@walarney what if all those things remind @alacercogitatus to click the meh button?
@alacercogitatus I don't even have a process let alone know what one is.
Maybe a calendar reminder instead?
Hey, set an alarm or a reminder on your phone.
What the hell was this string for again?
Eh, by the time the email would come out, most likely the item would already be sold out, unless of course it is speaker docks.
I've been lazy to implement this for quite a while, but i finally got around to it. I just sent out the first daily digest to users who opted in at MehStalker
From now on, users who subscribe to the daily digest will get an email alert any time a new item goes up for sale.
Here is a sample:
i used the magic that is my digital calendar i use for all of my important things, and set up a recurring, never ending appointment for meh o'clock. it is better than an email in that it reminds me not to book show or movie tickets at meh o'clock.
@vampje ... you schedule your life around meh o'clock?
@katylava yes meh still amuses me, so i make time for it. so far that involved going to the 9:05pm movie instead of the 8:30 movie.
@katylava You don't?
