Given the talk in various places over the months about setting up a Meh chat, a misinterpretation of @DrunkCat’s complaint a few weeks ago. and recent discussion of setting up some more involved activities like Cards Against Humanity online between Mehtizens, a Discord server was born and I decided it needed its own thread if it was ever going to become widely known about.

For those who don’t know Discord is a brand new chat offering that appeared on the scene about a year or so ago poised to compete with the likes of Skype and Teamspeak without all of the obtrusive ads and having been created by a startup, not owned (and ruined) by some corporate fat cat (I’m looking at you Microsoft). One of the best things about Discord is that it’s entirely built using web technologies at its core which has allowed them to create a very consistent user experience across every platform it’s available on, there are Windows, OSX, iOS, Android, and, in the near future, Linux clients available as well as a web-based no-install option. It’s prefilled with a bunch of channels born from popular topics here but if you have an idea for an additional channel feel free to suggest it! I’m the administrator by virtue of having created it but if someone from Mediocre wants to take over or even just get admin rights I’m happy to hand it over!

Anyhow, that’s about all there is to it, I look forward to the possibility of chatting with a wide variety of mehtizens!

For the sake of sanity it would be awesome if everyone posted their full Discord usernames (example JohnDoe#1234) here to verify that the person using X name on Discord is Y person on Meh.

If you need to find your full Discord username just click on your name in the user list and a popup like the following one will appear, I’ve circled the username in red:

OK this is freaky. It asked me if I wanted this program linked to something in my real name, something I didn’t give it. Who really owns this program and to what are they linked? It makes me uneasy that it accurately hooked that profile to the “real” me.
