@JonT So could I. You could just text me the deal for the following day and I will call for you... of course I'd give you like, $10/month for the info.
@editorkid But you still gotta buy the deals and have it shipped you. Vague memory of a flasker saying they generally do it that way to try to stay on top of the customer shipping experience and all.
This is a bad idea. Let's pretend it isn't for a moment, and that they do in fact provide notice of the item to VMP members. What do you do when you want to sell a Fuku or something of similar prestige? You can't send a note out about it- too many people here to keep that kind of secret. If you think "I'll just skip a day, or conveniently not send it out until late", that only works the first time, and maybe not even- people are pattern-finding machines, especially where there isn't one, or shouldn't be one, and once someone notices that there's a way to predict when Fukus will show up, that info is worth a lot.
How about VMP's get a list of things it might be, that could provide some amusement.
Have a VMP page that is updated at 9PM ET that shows 5 items.. one of them will be the next day's item, the others are total BS. No description or anything like that to keep the meh as high as possible. No prices either, just a 5 pictures.
And exclude Fukus from this, one those days non of the 5 things are real.. leaves the random hunting factor of Fuku's intact.
@SamK Not a terrible idea. 5 items and one of the MAY be the item. Might be fun if instead of listing the item, they give clues. Like 1) holds your pants up, 2) plays music 3) worth its weight in tablet sleeves 4) has a battery 5) can be used for a thing. It'd be tough coming up with different clues every day though.
I like the randomness of it all. Fish tanks, cell chargers, cutting boards, a surprise ever night. And beside slick deal resellers would ruin it right away.
no
Definitely not until March at the earliest if they do it.
@TerriblyHuang This. For reals this.
no
hell no
For an extra $500 a month, @snapster will personally call you each day to tell you the next day's deal.
@medz He already cashed the check from amazon, this kind of pocket change probably wouldnt make him pick up the phone let alone call someone.
@zacatac @medz I on the other hand, could definitely use an extra $500/month...

@JonT for $500 a meh staffer will call and do their best snapster impersonation.
@medz Does that mean they flap a paper bag while they talk?
@SSteve i sure hope so
The best way to get advance notice of sales is to work for Mediocre. And it's tinged with irony: Then they pay you.
@editorkid But you still gotta buy the deals and have it shipped you. Vague memory of a flasker saying they generally do it that way to try to stay on top of the customer shipping experience and all.
@mehjohnson Your memory is correct.
@dashcloud Thanks! First good news all day if I recall correctly...
@mehjohnson Right, but the thread's about knowing in advance. If you're buying the stuff or coding the site, you'll probably know what's when.
@editorkid True.

@dashcloud Thursday. Now pay me.
@hallmike I'll gladly pay you on Friday for a Fuku on Thursday.
Nope. Even playing field. (time zone politics ugh) We get the shipping.
No. Survival of the fastest.
And I'm damn slow.
YES! for $20/mo VMP members should get advanced notice ! I've said this already!
@unixrab and it's still a bad idea. :)
@christinerenee
@nadroj moo means moo
At some point it becomes cheaper to just pay retail for things.

No. That would take the fun out of it.
As I said somewhere else in the morass of pissed off posts, I think us Kickstarters should get advanced notice. I mean, we really are special.
@Teripie
no
