What used to happen to deadbeats, during the Deals.Woot exchanges? Were they outed?

@studerc or others who participated in those exchanges, please tell us how those non-responses where handled?

@Y_D, can you contact @studerc by email or other means and ask what was traditionally done? If any of the participants in this exchange were in those previous exchanges, here and at Woot, can you tell us what was done about this?

(I have this suggestion: if you out someone, do it gently? It could be that the person is just a huge procrastinator - or it could be that the person has stresses in their lives that we can’t imagine.)

In future exchanges, I presume we should not ask participants to post tracking numbers, as that would give away too much personal info to the entire world. Right?

But we could ask people to send tracking #'s to the exchange facilitator who already has the addresses. That way doxing info wouldn’t be public

So here’s a possible idea. What are the pros and cons? I am uncertain.

The facilitator could inform all participants in advance of signup that the list of participants would be published;

and that later, a list of participants would had either provided the facilitator with a tracking # that did track, or s list of those whose exchange boxes had been acknowledged as having reached their recipient would be published.

Then once the exchange was settled, the original list gets published.

And. say, 30 days after a package should have been received, a list gets published off all senders whose box has been acknowledged to have been received, or who provided the facilitator with a real tracking # gets published.

It would be pretty easy for anyone who wished to compare the two lists.

so is this a good idea or not? Have mixed feelings about it. I would hesitate to publicly “scarlet letter” someone without a lot of thought.

@CaptAmehrican Agree w/ @jbartus. You stayed out of the exchange because it was handled in a… peculiar way. I think we all knew going into it that it was going to be rather peculiar. Getting the address wasn’t the hard part, signing up was (if there was a hard part). The majority of us managed to mail out our crap, the few who didn’t are to blame. Not @Yoda_Daenerys.

OR were you asking who sent me a the awful box of mostly trash? If it is that person I will have to see if they participated again and sent a better box this time around - if yes then likely the mehrecian would absolve them… EDIT - just looked and that person seems to have improved a bit in what was sent in this last exchange so likely they should be left off the throw under the bus list.

@Kidsandliz thank you kindly… I should have eaten before I left the house! As much as my dr is a pia, he is awesome and thorough, so I don’t like getting cranky with him.

@mikibell Might want to bring him brownies or strawberries or something each time you come. Then if you get cranky he might be more likely to overlook that.

I “bribe” my oncologist with blueberries as he loves them (I also bring something for his staff)- that he makes $230,000+ a year (and could buy all he wants of them if he wanted to) and I have food stamps (and never buy them except for this unless they are on a major sale) makes it a bit ironic, but then again I use my food stamps to buy them and then just cut back a bit.

He told me he has 900 patients. Yikes! His nurse told me that I am one of the patients he remembers without having to look at my medical record. Bingo. That was the goal because that place has too many patients and not enough staff and crap falls through the cracks on a regular basis.

He also - get this - called me, himself personally, called me, when he noticed I was still on the schedule and he was going out of town that day (and his staff forgot to cancel me, umm driving 450 miles I would not have been happy to show up and find out he wasn’t there). When he saw I had already been rescheduled by them twice since May (this was July) instead of putting me off for 3 more weeks, he decided if I was willing to come in at practically the crack of dawn, he’d come in just to see me. Amazing. I credit the blueberries. He is great. Way nicer than my old oncologist. Do not want to piss him off.
