Hey guys, I’m traveling from North new Jersey to San Diego. Stopping at land marks I pass taking pictures in my shirts. Any way if I see any of you guys please stop and say hi! Also looking for recommendations for places to eat along the way
If you’re in Dallas, then you’re probably not coming to the OKC area. If you were, I don’t think I could reccomend anything other than big chain restaurants anyway…
Braum’s restraunts (fast food, but good) are fairly local as they only have restaurants within 80 miles of their farms.
Yeah, I would definitely have met you at Braum’s for a burger and milkshake. We need milk anyway and we only get milk from there. We go through about 4 gallons a week… Well probably closer to every five days.
But they are limited to locations within 300 miles of the home dairy farms, in order that everything is always completely fresh.
Braums are in the DFW area.
DFW
Dunno what you are into.
All the local DFW art museums are worthy.
In Dallas, the Perot Museum is excellent.
The 6th Street (Kennedy assassination) Museum is worth a visit.
On the way West, there is a meteor crater park near Odessa, TX.
El Paso, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Acoma Pueblo, El Morro National Monument are all worth some time.
The interstate bridge over the Rio Grande gorge in NM is worth a look.
If you have real free time, much in NM and AZ is impressive. Lake Powell. Chaco Conyon. Canyon De Chelly. Shiprock. Window Rock. Gila National Forest. Los Alamos. Taos. The San Juan River.
Not to mention the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River.
If you are going thru S Colorado or S Utah, that’s a whole different set of places to see. And gorgeous.
Good to know some local history in order to appreciate these places more fully.
@f00l@ivannabc@jst1ofknd sorry I pretty much had no service last night because I’m a Verizon member and it’s mainly AT&T down here, it’s never too early for ice cream. I’m going to have to map out some of these areas thank you very very very much, some of the other spots we are heading is Amarillo Texas Albuquerque New Mexico Phoenix Arizona and then our end goal is San Diego, we are on a little bit of a time crunch so I don’t know how adventurous I can be
What route are you taking? One of the suggested routes on google maps takes you through Idaho Springs, Colorado, which has the original Beau Jo’s Pizza, known for their thick-ass crust that you can pour honey on.
Edit: you said you were in Dallas while I was typing this so I guess not that route. Oh well!
@PocketBrain I’m honestly not sure how to do that, but I know we’re headed from Denton Texas to Amarillo Texas to Albuquerque New Mexico to Phoenix Arizona to San Diego, we’re taking all major highways
If you will be visiting the Los Angeles area; let me know. I will detail a foodie paradise. On of my good friends has been writing food and bev articles for years.
@connorbush I’m going to be in the San Diego area this time around but I’m hoping in January to be in Los Angeles for a night or two so I will email you back regarding Los Angeles then thank you very much
assuming then that you’re flying back? if not, and you are instead driving back, should you find yourself in Springfield, MO , there’s a motel, and Cornish Pasty truck I have an unnatural affinity for, both on the same road…
@earlyre oh my god! I was looking for a place to stay in springfield, and didnt really see much so i stayed in mt vernon… At a best western also i love pastys
Visiting or moving?
Just visiting, today I’m in the dallas area

@lilboup If you have the time near Phoenix I suggest Sedona. Really nice out that way.

I don’t live in San Diego but I enjoy these places when I go down there. Locals may think they are over hyped crap.

Well since you’re already in DFW, you’re already past me in South Arkansas. Have a great trip!
@ivannabc dam, well thank you!!
You can share your path via Google Maps, right?
@PocketBrain I’m honestly not sure how to do that, but I know we’re headed from Denton Texas to Amarillo Texas to Albuquerque New Mexico to Phoenix Arizona to San Diego, we’re taking all major highways
I’m not gonna blindly suggest something to then get my heart broken because you won’t be passing around here! :’(

How long are you in Dallas for?
