@eyewerks Did you search it? 'Cause knowing her, it might already have been? Funny how appropos that title is for the brand of craziness (allegedly) she sells (figuratively, allegedly).
Product Question: Will this help to remove hard water and soap scum from glass shower doors? Water here in SoCal is about as hard as hard can be. I'm not experienced with steam and not sure what it's up to cleaning.
@shortman That's my problem as well. Super hard water, tons of minerals. Would more than likely have to run distilled thru this, or the cleaner's insides would soon look like my old motor sergeant's coffee pot back in my Wildflicken days.
Is it really a good idea to use an electric powered device, filled with water, to clean your bathroom? Seems like an electrocution accident waiting to happen. Or am I missing something?
@DJP519 I'm with you. I've found cleaning the shower while I'm buck naked and the shower is running is the best way to avoid getting bleach on my clothes and to quickly rinse the cleaning agents down the drain. But doing that with a corded tool? Sounds risky.
@DJP519 Do yourself a favor too and remember to strip the wiring so the wires are exposed. To get the fullest extent of steam-cleaning power, the wires shouldn't be constricted in the cord.
Steam cleaner? Does it delete the games I already completed? Or does, it predict which games in my backlog I will never play and remove them? Im intrigued.
I'm a bit of a tool nut. How did you find this odd contraption that looks like a cordless drill mated with a blow dryer? Had not seen one previously. Interesting if effective in various uses.
@RedOak i know, right? I have a steam cleaner already, but it looks kind of like a teapot, while this one looks like a cordless drill, so I'm almost tempted on looks alone.
Almost.
Oh yeah, it is effective at cleaning things. Usually better when paired with scrubbing or brushing, but altogether i would say a valid method of cleaning. It will loosen up stuff that otherwise would be hard to just wipe off, and it's hot enough that it's supposed to disinfect too.
@RedOak Hey RedOak- off topic, but that Sony speaker dock alarm clock you recommended? Awesome! It even makes my old radio drama podcasts sound good. (Happy speaker dock Friday.)
@MP3GOD the original dialog happened on the JBL Lightning dock sale here on Meh. @Sammydog01 hankered for a 30-pin dock so I recommended a discontinued SONY clock radio-dock that NeweggFlash regularly sells as a refurb for about $25. They currently have the Lightning version for $30.
@djslack mine get really caked on, if I don't clean them really well after every BBQ. So wondering how well the steam will penetrate/ soften the black stuff...
@JonT Hey man this is serious business! ;-) Anyway there is something called a 'Grill Daddy' that uses steam to clean your grill and it gets decent reviews (considering it cheats by just spraying water, you're supposed to turn your gas grill on to use it), this should work better. Let the double entendres commence!
@saodell Kill! Kill the speaker docks! Luckily I have no speaker docks, so I don't have a reason to slowly fry it's internal components with steamy humidity.
This is tempting. My house was most recently occupied by a couple of 20 year-old guys and I have nearly asphyxiated myself on bleach fumes trying to disinfect the solid-tile bathrooms
Has anyone used something like this on cloth car interior? I've been looking to eliminate some...unsavory back seat stains. And it ain't blood, if you know what I mean...
@nikodrant I just bought one of those UV lights because of the dog. I would highly recommend against it. Spent yesterday spraying Nature's Miracle and still afraid to walk on the carpet.
The handful of negative ones seem to be wallpaper-related. I'm guessing removing wallpaper leaves everyone in a foul mood. I've only done it once — SOB previous owner put it up without priming — and I'd bet I would have given everything I used 1 star.
@saodell Yeah but alot of the 5 star ones are Vine (free product sent for review), odds are people will give favorable reviews to continue receiving free things to review.
If you refinish wood items, a steam cleaner like this is excellent for raising dents and dings in the wood. It will destroy the finish (or boil out an oil finish) but if you have dents that haven't broken the wood fibers, you may be able to virtually eliminate them.
For that matter its good for forcing grease and oil out of wood, but you'll never get it all...
@Kerig3 I admit to having a slight issue taking cleaning advice from a guy (not you, the narrator) who 1) let his sink get that bad and 2) thinks it's a revelation that acid cleans mineral deposits. Lime Away or CLR will work quicker (but wear gloves).
@joelmw My own sinks gets that bad quite quickly as we have extremely very hard water and no ability (space) to add a water softener. Hell, I have to filter the water just to water plants and small pets or they'll die. But as a guy who doesn't do the cleaning normally, and who's wife thinks that all those chemical cleaners are as good as they pretend to be, we were both thrilled to find that normal, cheap vinegar did such an easy job with very little elbow grease. So does that make me stupid? Nope, it made me enlightened! FYI, we've tried both of the expensive and toxic chemical cleaners that you mentioned and they didn't work a fraction as good as plain white vinegar does.
@Kerig3 Fair enough. I've had good luck with both of the chemicals I mentioned and have used vinegar for a variety of cleaning jobs. I still think the toxic stuff works better, but I've no need to argue with your results. If it's working for you, more power to ya. :-)
@JonT - Weird, I never requested it to be. Did they auto-cancel after the 2 free months promo? I was a sub before that happened... Anyways, good. 5'er in my pocket can stay in my pocket til something worthwhile makes the sale list :-)
@RedOak I was actually considering it for this same reason. I have a conure and I cannot clean his cage with any chemicals. It's hard to get that poop off the metal.
@buttermaker Most of the time the sales map just looks like a population map. Would love it if the heat map could show sales per capita, that would be far more interesting.
@RedOak For something like this, maybe not, if its actual germ-and-chemicalphobes that bought it. It'd look like a heat map -- of measles, mumps, rubella and other diseases once conquered 50+ years ago.
@looseneck rotate duties. Problem not corrected, but at least realigned. Tip: just spray the hell out of the entire area with ScrubFree first. It then becomes a chemical lovefest.
@frmorrison I sit to pee (only at home though)... But I am Europeein.Out and about... hell no! I stand.Its long been my contention that all the extra resting whilst peeing is the reason women live longer.
Maybe I pee with too much velocity, but I don't like the splashback so I sit.
I'd love to have a urinal in my home. Then I'd stand at home.
After watching the video on the McCulloch steam website...I,decided this tool is too "manly" for my needs....I can't think of a use that would be better than the floor/hand held haan I bought for not quite twice as much...I've used it on my tile floors, on my grout and most recently to steam clean dog bile vomit off my nice couches...it made a huge difference. I would consider buying this not because I am a chemical phobe or germ phobe, but because I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) which means I suffer myriad symptoms that feel like dying when I'm around chemicals like colognes/perfumes, bleach, chlorine/bromine, air fresheners, febreeze, plug-ins...certain candles, moth balls, tar roads/roofs, any kind of aerosolized solvent whether wd-40 or hairspray...nail polish/remover, fresh paint, spray paint, exhaust, varnishes/stains, creosote, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, new carpet, new rubber mats, tire stores, new car smell, fresh vinyl, smelly antiperspirants.. You get the idea.... I could go on... In other words, I wouldn't mind spending $30 on this if I thought I could find a good purpose for it... But ...can't...think....of a darn thing...
I received mine today and it works very well. I tried it on the kitchen stove and in the bathroom. I think it's good to clean the major stuff first and use this to get into areas that aren't easily accessible. Well worth $28.
@dsantillan I agree. I just got mine today and have already used it in the kitchen and bathroom. I'm amazed at how long a full tank of water lasts. Works great to get in those hard to reach spaces. Who was the genius that designed toilets with all of those hard to reach places anyway? A man did, obviously.
I think I got a lemon. I filled it with water, plugged it in, the light is on and the thing feels warm to the touch. However, if I press the trigger, nothing happens. Anyone else having problems?
@north6@msood90 I've been using mine for about a week now and have learned an important lesson. First, even when the light is on, that doesn't mean the water is hot enough to produce steam. You may have to wait a minute before you pull the trigger.
Second, once you pull the trigger, hold it horizontal and keep it pressed until you see a constant stream of steam. Sometimes it seems to just blow hot air and that's annoying. It appears that you need to prime it. So I've taken a rag and covered the output where the steam comes out. It builds up more pressure and then the steam starts to come out strong.
So once the constant stream of steam comes out, it only lasts for about 20 to 30 seconds no matter how much water you have left. Give it a break for about 10 seconds and then press the trigger again and you'll get another constant stream of steam.
I got this today. This product is so awful. Unusable from the Day 1. First of all, it not only gives out steam, it shoots a lot of hot water. Yes, this is more like a rubbish water gun with some steam effects.
Plus, the quality of the plastic is so shit, when it's heated, it smells so badly. Toxic smell immediately fills up your room and it won't go away for 30 mins.
If someone gives me $30, I will consider buying one again. This is so mehhhhh
I just got a chance to try mine out and it shoots out a lot of water vapor, but I don't think it's really steam. I was under the impression that steam was...hot. I can keep my hand an inch away from the nozzle with this thing on full blast. Defective?

Steam you say? More like steaming pile..... j/k I love you
Nah it seemed to appear on front screen before the forum for me today. And meh I'm good on a steamer. Now a meh shirt is love!
Does this attach to the toilet for use as an ad hoc bidet?
@eyewerks ouch!- Who're you- Gwenyth? [the Vag steamer]
@PhysAssist Nothing like a freshly steamed clam, 'eh?
@PhysAssist OMG. Gwyneth Paltrow really does steam clean the lady parts. I had no idea. http://www.refinery29.com/2015/01/81529/gwyneth-paltrow-vagina-steam
@eyewerks Perhaps today's Meh offering will show up on Gwyn's GOOP blog.
@PhysAssist I'm gonna have to consciously couple ne` glom, onto this comment.
@eyewerks I'd like to de-wrinkle my butt-flaps
@eyewerks Told ya!!
@eyewerks Naw, raw on the 'alf shell (Salt, freshly ground black pepper, lemon juice, and Tabasco optional)- (because they sting).
@shortman Have you tried plain ol' vinegar? Worked wonders for my humidifiers (we now use distilled water)
@shortman Yes, use vinegar. Works for mineral deposits from showers to coffee makers/water boilers.
@r00fus I've used vinegar on water spout aerators before.
@gyozilla Thanks!
Melting a chocolate face almost sold me on this. So close, but I have only a few dozen chocolate figures to melt... I can find cheaper ways!
But if I continue to buy crap like this doesn't it just mean you've got me wrapped around your finger? Whoa-oh.
It can even clean up the mess your Cleveland Steamer leaves behind!
@capguncowboy As someone who considers Cleveland home, but doesn't live there...ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.
@irishbyblood Is it Cleavelands favourite pasttime?
@OnionSoup I may be a mess, but I ain't THAT kind of mess.
Bath Time?
Is it really a good idea to use an electric powered device, filled with water, to clean your bathroom? Seems like an electrocution accident waiting to happen. Or am I missing something?
@DJP519 Drain the bath first?
@DJP519 I'm with you. I've found cleaning the shower while I'm buck naked and the shower is running is the best way to avoid getting bleach on my clothes and to quickly rinse the cleaning agents down the drain. But doing that with a corded tool? Sounds risky.
@DJP519 As long as you throw a toaster in the tub to "ground yourself" first, you should be OK.
@DJP519 Do yourself a favor too and remember to strip the wiring so the wires are exposed. To get the fullest extent of steam-cleaning power, the wires shouldn't be constricted in the cord.
Not really a fan of carrots, so valuable-motley-carrot isn't doing much for me.
If I buy this, I will only use it on small animals and trafficked east European women.
@givemeyoursoul ಠ_ಠ
We've had a Shark steam cleaner for some time. Wife HAD to have it.
Never been out of the box.
Steam cleaner? Does it delete the games I already completed? Or does, it predict which games in my backlog I will never play and remove them? Im intrigued.
@msimard8 sick reference brah
@msimard8 It just strips the DRM and turns it into GOG. There, I finished your joke.
That rad video has the best soundtrack since
If only there were a steam-powered jaeger...malignant-assertive-snow. You know nothing, McCulloch
Noooooooooo! Not my Irk wallpaper!
@BabyBear I'd live to buy a few rolls of that Irk wallpaper for my friend's kid's room. The little bastard deserves to be terrified.
I'm a bit of a tool nut. How did you find this odd contraption that looks like a cordless drill mated with a blow dryer? Had not seen one previously. Interesting if effective in various uses.

'Not sure I've ever seen a higher concentration of 'VINE, received it free' reviews for an Amazon sold product.
@RedOak Hey RedOak- off topic, but that Sony speaker dock alarm clock you recommended? Awesome! It even makes my old radio drama podcasts sound good. (Happy speaker dock Friday.)
@sammydog01 excellent. We like ours. Don't like most SONY speakers but that one is clean sounding with tight bass.
@sammydog01 What was the model# on that dock?
@MP3GOD the original dialog happened on the JBL Lightning dock sale here on Meh. @Sammydog01 hankered for a 30-pin dock so I recommended a discontinued SONY clock radio-dock that NeweggFlash regularly sells as a refurb for about $25. They currently have the Lightning version for $30.
This could potentially be the perfect antidote to my lady's hot glue gun.
If this could clean the the grill plates of my infrared BBQ, I would buy in a second. I kinda doubt it though, despite what the copywriter said...
@madmaxmedia i actually think it would be pretty good for cleaning those grates.
@madmaxmedia yeah considered this just for cleaning my grillfriend.
@djslack mine get really caked on, if I don't clean them really well after every BBQ. So wondering how well the steam will penetrate/ soften the black stuff...
@madmaxmedia this comment is hilarious if you read it as a response to @DeuceSevin about your girlfriend.
@JonT you misread that - I wrote GRILLfriend. On purpose. My family cause it my griilfriend because I spend so much time with her. I mean it.
But if you read it as girlfriend it is funny.
At least it wasn't a speaker doc...
@0oiiiiio0 But it will clean a speaker dock.
@saodell Kill! Kill the speaker docks! Luckily I have no speaker docks, so I don't have a reason to slowly fry it's internal components with steamy humidity.

@nikodrant Oh God, I hope it's urine:
@nikodrant Maybe Meh will next offer a complimentary U/V light to make sure you don't miss any of your "biologics"....
@nikodrant :
@nikodrant I just bought one of those UV lights because of the dog. I would highly recommend against it. Spent yesterday spraying Nature's Miracle and still afraid to walk on the carpet.
Good reviews on Amazon.

@0oiiiiio0 That has always been my contention...
@saodell @0oiiiiio0 @PhysAssist in case it wasn't obvious, we did not receive these (free or otherwise) for any vines.
Would think distilled water would be best to use in this to help keep the heating element clean the longest..
This looks fun. Put one in a fuku for me, thanks.
@Jetlag You know the next fuku bag is just going to be three different flavors of speaker dock, right?

This is the best & easiest way to clean hard water deposits and stains around sinks and faucets:
I tried a steam cleaner a decade ago and got horrible results, so unless the technology of steam has changed since then....Meh.
yep, steam does nothing to hard water deposits, even stronger karcher ones. it will remove grime though
@Kerig3 I admit to having a slight issue taking cleaning advice from a guy (not you, the narrator) who 1) let his sink get that bad and 2) thinks it's a revelation that acid cleans mineral deposits. Lime Away or CLR will work quicker (but wear gloves).
@joelmw You shouldn't be so surprised. Many people don't know or even connect vinegar or baking soda with their chemical properties.
@joelmw My own sinks gets that bad quite quickly as we have extremely very hard water and no ability (space) to add a water softener. Hell, I have to filter the water just to water plants and small pets or they'll die. Have ugly slimy grout, black coated oven walls,grimy grille racks, old decrepit wallpaper...yup I need one said the voracious-possessive-elf.
This thing looks like a cordless drill mated with an otoscope.
@tsfisch If you think your brain on drugs looks bad, wait til you get done with this new ear examiner/wax removal tool.
@GeriatricDragon The first thing I thought of when I saw the picture was that it was one of those ear wax removal devices. Ouch.
Looks like vmp sub is getting cancelled soon...
@flame7369 looks like it already was.
@JonT - Weird, I never requested it to be. Did they auto-cancel after the 2 free months promo? I was a sub before that happened... Anyways, good. 5'er in my pocket can stay in my pocket til something worthwhile makes the sale list :-)
haphazard-yippy-design
Too bad there's a purchase limit. I was thinking of buying 1000 of these, rebranding them as "Abu Ghraib Enemas", and marketing them on S&M sites.
@eyewerks Or sell them to the defence department!
@eyewerks I like the adult toy theme you are developing here.
@GeriatricDragon Toys? You mean, ...you play with enemas? Ewwwe, man, ...that's fucking GROSS!
Favorite specialized use in the Amazon reviews:
"to keep cracks and crevices clean and kill mites from my CAG parrot cage, and maybe caked droppings in the way."
@RedOak I was actually considering it for this same reason. I have a conure and I cannot clean his cage with any chemicals. It's hard to get that poop off the metal.
Here's a photo of the little pooper.
@cengland0 luckily he's a colorful little pooper. ;-)
@cengland0 Grapefruit seed extract?!
@cinoclav But that is not a power tool so it wouldn't be as much fun.
@RedOak An ex-parrot!
It's fun when the sales heat map doubles as a "here's where the crazies live" map.
@buttermaker I wuz gonna aks why PA and CA seem to have germophobia, but myabe one is a toxiphobe...
@buttermaker Most of the time the sales map just looks like a population map. Would love it if the heat map could show sales per capita, that would be far more interesting.
@jeffrebbeck exactly. And simple to do. But then again, perhaps not as dramatic since we might be more homogenous than we think.
@RedOak For something like this, maybe not, if its actual germ-and-chemicalphobes that bought it. It'd look like a heat map -- of measles, mumps, rubella and other diseases once conquered 50+ years ago.
harmful-tiny-comparison
(That's what she said!)
You have to be an idiot to buy this as a steam cleaner. And if you buy it to remove wallpaper, then you are so stupid you should buy two.
Now there's something you don't see every day. Or ever before in your life.
Once again my dyslexia kicked in and I swore Meh was offering a clam steamer. And then I thought of Gwyneth Paltro....
Meh. I'll try it. I HATE HATE HATE cleaning the bathroom. Why can't you guys ever hit the toilet with your peepee? frightening-packed-platinum
@looseneck rotate duties. Problem not corrected, but at least realigned. Tip: just spray the hell out of the entire area with ScrubFree first. It then becomes a chemical lovefest.
@RedOak Thanks for the tip. Since it's a powered, hand-held tool, it might inspire the hubby to use it :) He does love the carpet steam cleaner.
@looseneck I always hit the toilet .... and the curtains.... and the walls ... and the wife's slippers
@looseneck Ask the men in your life to sit when they pee. Most Europeans do this.
@donkeynuts Are you my husband? :)
@frmorrison I dated a guy who did this years ago. He also wiped!
@frmorrison but the last thing I want is to be more European. Got enough of it in my blood already.
@looseneck I sit to pee also since I have to clean my own bathroom.
@OnionSoup My B-I-L had a urinal built in his master bathroom.
@looseneck I squat down a bit to pee. That always works for me, so sitting down is not the only way.
@donkeynuts are you sure you're talking about pee?
If I get a Mohawk before I use this, does that make me Steampunk?
Santa?
Wonder if you could somehow use this to clean upholstery like car seats...? The attachments look too small to make it practical though.
Will this melt little plastic army men? Asking for a friend...
Does it work upside-down?
Chemicals, motherfuckers:
@joelmw Well said.
If you put an extension tube on this you could froth milk for your lattes .... froth a lot of milk...
Looks like the device isn't actually generating steam, as much as it is making water vapor.
@CrazyLittle E-cigs are smaller, lighter, cheaper, and probably get similar results.

You get the idea.... I could go on...
In other words, I wouldn't mind spending $30 on this if I thought I could find a good purpose for it... But ...can't...think....of a darn thing...
@shells And you're in luck because it's not even $30. It's only $28.
Does this thing come new in the retail box?
I received mine today and it works very well. I tried it on the kitchen stove and in the bathroom. I think it's good to clean the major stuff first and use this to get into areas that aren't easily accessible. Well worth $28.

I think I got a lemon. I filled it with water, plugged it in, the light is on and the thing feels warm to the touch. However, if I press the trigger, nothing happens. Anyone else having problems?
@msood90 Yes, same issue. Mine just clicks but no steam comes out, very warm to the touch after several minutes.
@north6 @msood90 I've been using mine for about a week now and have learned an important lesson. First, even when the light is on, that doesn't mean the water is hot enough to produce steam. You may have to wait a minute before you pull the trigger.

I just discovered I like to say stream of steam.
@msood90 AMEN. MINE IS ALSO A DAMN LEMON.

This thing make a cranky colicky noise reminiscent of an arthritic Pinocchio. Which is entertaining but so far no steam.
YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG
@grah6595 I just tried mine today. But no steam like you. Did you solve your problem?
I just got a chance to try mine out and it shoots out a lot of water vapor, but I don't think it's really steam. I was under the impression that steam was...hot. I can keep my hand an inch away from the nozzle with this thing on full blast. Defective?
Had to defrost a freezer quickly and remembered this in the garage. Did the trick! Won’t send out steam unless you put a nozzle on it.
