This is a solid watch, I’m wearing one right now. You’ll want to get a new band for it tho, that rubber strap is not good. Also keep an eye on that little shiny ring around the face, it’s not glued on very securely and when it falls off the watch will look noticeably cheaper (I re-glued mine and then it fell off at work and vanished forever)
@huja Nothing has broken or fallen off my black one in eleven months. I replaced the band in my white one because I didn’t want a white band, not because it broke. Nothing has fallen off it, either, but I rarely wear it. I wear the black one almost every day
Even those repairs this is a good deal for the features.
@cptoblivion I didn’t have any problem with mine except that the 2 year battery died in about 3 months of wearing. I put it in a drawer and replaced it with a fitness tracker which just died. I am going to take it to a jeweler and have the battery replaced if it is possible. I do like the watch.
I got one of these last November and another of a different color a little later.
I’m very happy with it. If it did nothing other than tell time and let me know when I’ve left my phone behind I’d be happy with it. The notifications and phone locator are bonus features.
It’s not water resistant, but only once has it gotten condensation on the crystal. I have worn it briefly in the rain several times (to and from the car), but only once has this happened. I put it on top of a lampshade over a CFL bulb, where it was warm but not hot, and it was clear in the morning. I wouldn’t do that over an incandescent bulb.
Also, the app won’t pair with more than one at a time. Every time I switch between my two watches I have to redo the pairing. It’s not hard, but it’s annoying. So I rarely do it.
I take it off and turn it off at night. The battery lasts about a week.
So let me get this straight , hmmmmm .I need a watch to tell me my phone is ringing …interesting whats next a device that tells me my watch is trying to tell me my phone is ringing .Price is devine but what the fuck do i need this for again lol . Gotta love these Meh guys
@mellowirishgent I’ve had the watch notification go off before my phone started ringing when i was in a meeting and forgot to silence my phone. Gave me enough notice to silence the call before it rang.
I’ve also accidentally left my phone on silent but was able to know i had a call because of the watch.
@mellowirishgent If your phone is on silent, and in a jacket pocket, in a purse, sitting on the counter in another room… the vibrating watch will let you know your phone is ringing. Better still, it’ll tell you WHO is calling so you know if you should bother walking into the other room to get your phone.
@mellowirishgent I use it for both of these things as well. It is also useful for (legally) reading texts while driving.
Pretty much any Android app can be configured to send notifications to the watch. This probably applies to iOS apps as well.
For a while (until PokeDetector was banned), this made the watch function almost exactly like the add-on wrist thingy that they were going to release for Pokemon Go. (I stopped playing pogo when they banned rooted phones, so no idea if they ever did come out with that thing).
@mellowirishgent This has an awesome feature where it will alert you if you walk off without your phone. This has saved me more often then I’d like to admit.
@Mehrocco_Mole go into the app on your phone- from there, the settings are easily changed. It’s a great watch for the money and better than most that cost 10 times that.

Watch falls apart like a piece of junk!!!
Bycharles mcleanon October 6, 2016

the watch literally fell apart and they wont return my money.
@Kyser_Soze Mine lasted until last week, and broke under suspicious circumstances. Until then, I would have said the build quality was excellent. The bezel and crystal were surprisingly scratch resistant.
@Kyser_Soze I wear mine (a black one purchased here last November) 4-5 days a week and I’m not especially careful with it (after all, it cost me $28). It doesn’t look new, but the bezel is barely scratched at all and it still looks good.
My first one was my favorite martian, but one day it flew off my wrist. At first I wondered if it would have any real use, but it became indispensable over time. Until tonight I wondered if I could buy another second hand.
@ebatch Can’t you set your phone to remind you of the date then this can tell you when your phone needs to tell you something? I set reminders in Google calendar for instance.
@ebatch Pressing the lower command button will cycle through the date, weather, digital time (useful after dark as the watch face isn’t backlit,) and battery level.
FWIW, I never played any flavor of Pokemon prior to Pokemon Go. However, a lot of my friends are younger and thus I started playing it to see what they were talking about. I stopped playing it when I was forced to upgrade to the version that won’t run on a rooted Android device. (Yes, I’m aware that there are workarounds for this; Pokemon Go is not fun enough to make it worth doing this.)
@Luko26 may depend on the phone but I have no problem being connected to headphones or my car while connected to the watch. They use different profiles (the phone knows the watch doesn’t do audio, for example).
@Luko26
I don’t have this watch. I do own several smart watches. None of them interfere w BT headphones. Your phone can maintain simultaneous connections to several BT devices at once.
@ruouttaurmind They use a regex that just finds the video ID in the URL, then they slip that into the generic embed code. Time URLs just don’t work here.
I purchased, then cancelled my order after reading about the durability. I am a bit rough with my watches, and I need it to be water-resistant. It’s a shame, I have wanted one of these for a while.
I bought one of these the first time meh offered it. Now I have three. I retired two other smart watches in favor of this one, because it is simply the one I prefer.
The one I use most frequently (95% of the time) just went 10 days on a charge–after almost a year of steady use.
The notification scroller is simple but effective. The vibrational alerts work. And the “leash” feature has kept me from leaving my phone behind several times. And with an analog watch face, I still have a functioning watch when I do run the “smart” battery dead.
If you’re looking for a simple smart watch to send notifications to your wrist, this Watch is great. If you’re looking for more features to show off, stick with the Pebble or Apple watches.
I own one. I used it for about a week. Cute enough. It did its job respectably. I now own an Apple Watch (mainly for the health tracking aspects) so I don’t wear this as often. $25 is a decent price for it.
Got a semi-functioning version of this in the last Fuku. I was excited because the digital part worked perfectly, but the analog mechanism didn’t function at all. Replaced battery - no luck. But in playing with it, I decided I really like it as a “pro-social” watch; I can wear it and glance at my watch when the phone rings or I get a text, without pulling the phone out of my pocket and appearing anti-social.
Of course, I’m still being anti-social, it just doesn’t look like it. So, I’m in for a new one, so I can actually use it to tell time in a convenient fashion as well as to provide a telephone conduit. (when the hands don’t work, you can still tell time with it from the phone, but that makes it a button-press operation).
I paid the full 40 bucks on amazon a year ago. I highly recommend for people who don’t like pulling their cell phone out every 5 seconds to see what time it it is or if you have a text. It looks good, and doesn’t have a bunch of wasted extras that you would want to use your phone for anyways. I don’t work in a startup or in my mom’s basement so there are a lot of times throughout my day where I don’t want a rigner going off or my phone out, but I still want to see what my texts say. That being said I can see how I would be in the minority of people on this site haha
Anyone considering this should heed the warning that it is NOT WATER-RESISTANT. After wearing mine while cycling (and sweating), the crystal fogged on the inside. Although that cleared up, the text display is now so dim that it’s barely readable in total darkness.
I thought at first it would allow me to notify the Martians on the dark side of the moon and maybe get a really cool pen pal, except I probably don’t speak their “language” or whatever they do to send information from one to another. Then I realized it’s just a watch that sends notifications from Humans to other Humans, and the name of the watch is Martian. MMMMEEEEEHHHH.
For thirty bucks I’ll try it, nice to have something fancier than my Casio F-91. Looks like it has the features I want in a smartwatch without the urge to Dick Tracy myself every time I want to send a text message.
Bought THREE of these things for my kids last Xmas. All I can say is, “not recommended for female” b/c they are too large and heavy for teen age female wrists… no one wore them more than once.
I would also like to reiterate all the comments here - this is a very good watch, and has served me quite well for the last year, with almost daily wear. Having notifications and a leash changes how you approach your phone. From a professional level, I can flip the “be quiet” switch on my iPhone and still not worry about missing things - excellent for meetings.
I’ve also had fogging issues in high-humidity environments, although they seemed to have cleared up.
Suggestion though - there is a good amount of “screen protectors” sold by Amazon - my crystal has been saved from my habitual roughness.
But, something that was missed in the comments - with a handed watch, you can still find north - handy for training Boy Scouts in some of their orienteering skills.
One more thing - there is a string of numbers on the back of the watch - 24 39’ 35". I thought this was coordinates of the design offices - turns out this is the length of the solar day on Mars. Clever…
I bought one of these about a year ago. It does 99% of what I would want a “smart watch” to do - it vibrates when I get a text or notification so I can leave my phone on mute.
I’m on the fence over this thing. I ordered one and cannceled once already. I have a perfectly good casio digital watch, so why do I need to pay 25 bucks just so I have a non-waterproof, needs-recharged watch that I have to actively acknowledge the existence of? Biggest sell for me is it will find your phone for you but I could also just not be a chump who loses his phone everywhere.
@koifish Go ahead, you know you want one–they’re NEW! not refurbished–you’ll be glad you did!
$25! That’s only a dollar more than the two Bubba drink containers @snapster refused to sell to me yesterday!
Tap the glass feature only works within 5 minutes after receiving the notification. For more than 5 minutes, press both buttons together once to bring up your notification history.
@Bluedragon07 I didn’t know about this feature! I just checked mine after a missed call–I could recall it once by tapping the face. But I didn’t get 5 minutes to recall the notice again.
Just bought one and so far I am still amused. It’s no Pebble Time and won’t replace mine, but it does have a few features I wish the Pebble had. The “Find Phone” feature will activate a series of tones on my iPhone even when it is in vibrate only mode. Phone camera control may come in handy - even has a 3 sec. delay so you won’t get caught pushing your watch button every time you take a picture if you want to be in the picture.
I purchased the white one (white face w/white band), then replaced the white band with a black band, very sharp watch. So far, so good, works great & very light weight (since it has a plastic body). I wish you could use a regular micro USB charger to charge it, but for what I paid, still a great deal. Thanks MEH!
I use this watch nearly every day! The wristband adjusts to even the smaller sized forearm and the battery lasts a few days! I also like how it’s water resistant since I do the dishes a lot.

Why would anyone want to notify a Martian? The whole point is to sneak up on them.
Not again…
Why does Meh want to enslave my wrist?
Super Meh!

Meh.
I get compliments on my white notifier regularly.
@thePenrod what other texts do you get?
@therealjrn That would have been funny if it didn’t remind me that nobody compliments me via text.
@thePenrod Hey buddy, just wanted you to know I really like your white notifier. It’s so white and notifier-y.
/youtube white and nerdy
@thePenrod What is your number? I’ll write you at least 1 (ONE) text message at no charge to you. (Terms and conditions apply. Void where prohibited)
EDIT: got rid of giphy sigh
@thePenrod Hey man, I hear you get compliments regularly on your white notifier. Good Job!
@narfcake still can’t believe that’s Key and Peele in the beginning!
Waterproof? (no want anyway)
@rmeden No.
@rmeden Nope
@thePenrod Wow, awesome post! Did you just post from that awesome white notifier watch I hear you wear?
Serious question, does it have a seconds hand? Can’t find the info or tell from the photos. Thanks in advance…
@Malus no
@Malus nope, looked for that on Amazon reviews
@Malus Got one in front of me… Nope, no seconds hand.
I was surprised at how much I liked this watch. Don’t expect high quality parts but nobody will notice unless you point it out to them.
@thePenrod Nice post! Good Job!
But, we still carry all those things, they are just all in one box instead of 3 different boxes.
Oh thank you, I left my other one somewhere and was hoping these would show up again.
This is a solid watch, I’m wearing one right now. You’ll want to get a new band for it tho, that rubber strap is not good. @cptoblivion Not exactly a resounding endorsement if you are suggesting a new strap and glue.
@huja sometimes you have to glue your strap-on.
@huja Nothing has broken or fallen off my black one in eleven months. I replaced the band in my white one because I didn’t want a white band, not because it broke. Nothing has fallen off it, either, but I rarely wear it. I wear the black one almost every day

@craigthom I’ve had mine for a year, and I’m ashamed at how much I like it. The bezel is easily replaced thru Martian directly- I’m on my second…
@cptoblivion I didn’t have any problem with mine except that the 2 year battery died in about 3 months of wearing. I put it in a drawer and replaced it with a fitness tracker which just died. I am going to take it to a jeweler and have the battery replaced if it is possible. I do like the watch.
@cptoblivion The case on mine broke on the studs where the band attaches (I installed a new watchband). Happened on both sides.
@alacrity Yeah, but shipping from Mars. Must take a while.
@huja nah… like everything else, it’s made in China. Takes a week to get here. The currency, however, is a bitch to exchange.

@ruouttaurmind I am tempted to get another black one, just to see if that /buy syntax will work for me.
@baqui63 Should work if your VMP is up to date and payment method is valid.
I say give it a try.
Does it tell me when there’s a Lapras nearby?
@Ayanami lol. I used to use mine for that with PokeDetector. Then they banned PokeDetector and eventually banned rooted phones, so pogo is no more.
@baqui63
Is this Pokémon talk?
@f00l It is.
FWIW, I never played any flavor of Pokemon prior to Pokemon Go. However, a lot of my friends are younger and thus I started playing it to see what they were talking about. A nice combination of analog and smart watches. I paid more at Morningsave after missing out once before and didn’t regret it.
For a very good look try replacing the rubber strap with a leather or nylon nato strap: https://meh.com/forum/topics/martian-watch-with-leather-nato-strap
It does have a proprietary extra-deep micro usb cable that you have to keep up with for charging and firmware updates.
Here’s mine with a nylon nato strap: https://meh.com/forum/topics/martian-notifier-watch-1#56589c3a3cccd7ec038f6b0c
@djslack I removed the plastic hood off a spare cable, and that allowed it to fit

My original got bent all to heck.
Just take a hobby knife (Xacto) to a $1 tree cable and you’re gold.

@kylar Speaking of doing technology! Not sure where the mimosa is in that gif tho…
@kylar given the three terms involved there, I think that his order code.

For all those people that like to read their text messages while driving. Now you can sneak peek your messages.
Bought the white one last November the last time they were up for sale. Getting the black and red one this time!
Anyone have any issues with the touch button on the face? Mine doesn’t seem to register anything at all. Might have to do a return
@Bluedragon07 what “touch button on the face”? The only buttons on this are on the sides.
@thismyusername Nope, the glass should be touch receptive:
@Bluedragon07 wow… never noticed that on mine… will dig mine out and give it a try.
I did find this in the FAQ on their website:
Thanks MEH!
Mine came in yesterday. I set the analog time, but the hands aren’t moving. The battery could be dead or it’s broken. What do?
@Jcast617
I’d replace the batterie first, then shoot meh an email if that doesn’t work
Bought one for myself and one as a gift. Both are LOVED!
I use this watch nearly every day! The wristband adjusts to even the smaller sized forearm and the battery lasts a few days! I also like how it’s water resistant since I do the dishes a lot.
