@AttyVette Let's be Smart about this and Face it. When was the last Time we Banded together Against Humanity's insatiable desire for more stuff? I'll Watch while you raise your Hands.
@Kurotwotails Haven't you gotten $10 worth of enjoyment out of it since you bought it? Suckers buying it today missed out and will never be able to have the good times you early adopters had.
@medz Came here to whine about the $10 off, by the time I hit reply, realized I was going to say what you have already said. If I could get the Martian functionality in the form of the Meta M1 (stainless steel) I bought here before it, I'd be all set. The M1 notifications mostly quit working after the last iOS update. The Martian is still going strong.
@ColeSloth got three last time, for les juennes fils... Ooooh, that's French! But they'll never know about the price change, and hopefully they'll like them.
AWESOME! I'm glad I stayed up to wait for a black speakerdock on Black friday SDF... OH mother of god no! No, why ruin the joke... if you wanted to make a good black friday joke... White JBL micros would work... hell JBL mini's would be awesome you could even charge $10 less than amazon and see how many will bite...
Damn! Ordered this from the sister site for 66% more than this and its not even here yet. Hate seeing it here so much cheaper now. That's the cheapie in me coming out.
@djslack That's the gamble with morningsave. You might see it again on meh for less, but you might not... It's interesting to see how that's working out. (Sorry you got hosed)
@Thumperchick Yeah, I know. I was on the fence about ordering this last time on Meh, and once I decided to jump on it after seeing it with the nato strap I figured the extra $6 on Morningsave was my indecision fee. I was fine with it then, so I should be now, but that doesn't make me less bitter about it :)
If it was the same price as before it wouldn't have stung as much. I'm better now, though.
For people who are on the fence about this: buy it today. It's a steal at this price.
So mine just arrived at my doorstep and is currently charging. I updated the firmware, which is super easy. This thing feels like good quality. It's slightly hefty, which I like in a watch, and a little thick but not badly so. The silicone band is a big slab of silicone, so I think it'll be durable, but I've already removed it and put on a NATO strap. A leather one is on the way but this one is also cool and was cheap with Prime shipping.
Trying to think of people I could gift these to so I can order more :)
@KefkasGhost you out-dealed me on that one. I think that faux Bond strap was $4 or $5 on its own. That’s a good price for some style changeups, you should post a link if the deal is still around.
Aw damn, I just bought one of these on the 2nd from Meh for $10 more! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!
But no, seriously, it's a pretty neat little "smart" watch. I don't really need any of the special features of the more expensive ones like step tracking, GPS, heart rate, etc, cuz I have a fitbit. And if I need to do something complex, you know what? I can pull out my phone.
The vibration can be pretty damn strong, wakes me up quite nicely in the morning. The app (Android, haven't tried on iOS) is simplistic, but robust enough. Notification support is pretty solid. The only issue I've really run into is that one of my accounts through Gmail (a NON-Gmail account, Comcast if you're curious) will often notify me multiple times until I dismiss it on the phone itself.
Beyond that, again, neat little watch. Pretty helpful when I'm in a setting that I can't immediately pull out my phone (during meetings, when I'm stuffed in a tight space, driving, etc) to see who wants what. At $24, I'd almost call this a steal.
@alacrity That was one of the first things I did. Currently running 10.54, which is the latest per their website. It's not really a major issue, just mildly annoying.
Maybe I am too much of a luddite, but I really don't get the whole concept here.
If you have a phone in your pocket that rings, makes a sound, or vibrates when you get a call or a text, why do you need your watch to do it also? It seems like one of those solutions to a non-existant problem.
@Steve7654 Because the phone is in your pocket, not on your wrist. The watch will not necessarily help you talk on the phone, but if you get a lot of notifications, it's handy to not-as-frequently have to dig the phone out of your pocket.
@Steve7654 That was rude. Some people are glued to their phones in an annoying manner, but for certain situations those who commented are absolutely correct. Try having two jobs - one where you're the boss and have people calling/texting/emailing you all the time and another where you're just the grunt. Sometimes the vibrations in my pocket meant there was an emergency that could have meant a lost account. Other times it was someone asking a dumb question or a junk email. When I was working the grunt job I always wondered if I needed to pull out my phone and look, which I wasn't supposed to do. I will never get any type of smart watch, but it would have alleviated some anxiety. Is trying to do your job well a poor life choice?
@Steve7654 Bonehead, rude comment. Why did you even ask in the first place? Just setting up for your big swing? Well, it was a strike. Move on and go denigrate people elsewhere.
The most useful feature on these things is when you forget to put your phone back in your pocket, and as you walk away from your desk the watch notifies you that you are out of range, so you go back and get your phone...
@Steve7654 I work in a secure environment where we cannot have anything that records, or takes photos. I can keep my phone hidden away and still see my text through the day with this type of device, so if an emergency arises, I can take a break to deal with it.
@djslack I wonder how many of them will take to twitter in a few weeks when they realize that CAH really means it - they aren't sending out a damned thing. It's fun to watch them do this every year.
OH HOW I HATE YOU PEOPLE. Have it on my wrist right now and love it. Bought it a few weeks ago when you sold it at $34. What I'm actually mad about is that I ordered one off Amazon as a gift for $46 2 days ago. Looks like I've got a package to refuse.
If you guys are wondering if you should purchase it, know it works and looks great with my iPhone 5 and my roommate's 6. You do need to update the software though or it will not push all notifications through. Some randomly did not work and calls did not work at all. The screen is flush with the bezel, so be warned, it will probably get scratched, but mine hasn't yet. Battery life is around a week. Overall I am impressed. Pick one or two up. Put one on your wrist and one in a stocking. While it won't go toe to toe looks wise with my Citizen Eco-Drive, it's an already great looking watch and it being a smart watch makes it that much better. Buy it.
I can see this being minimally useful for times I don't want the phone in my pocket but might need information (like when I'm running a drill while coaching). My willingness to pay had always been eclipsed by the price. But not today. You win this one, meh.
@russellwilde My friend has a Pebble and has looked at my Martian. Seems like this works better than his Pebble which often doesn't notify him of messages. I have an iPhone 6 and he's on an Android though. So not apples to apples. Do you have any specific questions? I can ask him.
Main difference is this reads your phone but can't communicate back like the Pebble can.
Sorry, Meh, but I got this watch last time around and I would definitely not buy it again. The cable is proprietary (don't believe their lies), the integrating app is sketchy, and the smartwatch portion of the watch got bricked after the app told me to update it.
@bacon4jason Better buy one today, because they might sell for $54 next week. Meh prices are like gas prices; they fluctuate with the market and supply and demand and all that. You by gas today and then it drops $.10 a gallon tomorrow, you ain't gonna get a refund.
warning: this watch is not waterproof. for me its the reason why i stopped wearing it. i wear most watches 24/7 and never have to worry about taking it off for showers etc. its no longer part of my 'muscle' memory. martian is splash proof, but don't go snorkeling with it
I've had one for six months and love it. It's a great way to be notified when your phone is in your purse and your surroundings are too loud to hear it.
So many choices, so little time... I think hubby would like the black one.... I like the red and the white.... For those who have one, would you please tell me which color looks best or which one u like best? Thanks!
I'll add my voice to the chorus- I bought this watch last time around, and have found it incredibly useful. I turn off the ringer on my phone now - no more fumbling to turn off an inappropriate ringtone during an important meeting. 5 stars at old price, solid recommend at this one
Ok, I guess the savings from not buying this last time pays for my VIP the last month... or something. Bought for hubby, in red. Almost got the black, but there's no minute marks which I find annoying.
I've got one of these. And an OG Pebble, a Pebble Steel, a Motoactiv, an LG G Watch R, a Samsung Gear Fit (and several other watches too). FWIW - This is a nice watch and a heck of a deal for this price. The battery in the watch portion lasts two years, and I get about 4-5 days before I have to recharge the OLED notifications portion. If all you want is notifications and time, this is a great watch. It's a no brainer if you're a watch geek on a budget.
@onarock unfortunately, meh doesn't ship out of the USA - need to have a US billing and shipping address. From what I understand there are some companies that can provide this service for you, however I don't have one that I can recommend.
@joeblow Does pair with iPads. Does not do any voice stuff - the new ones that cost ten times as much as this do that though. This does notifications only.
@thekenya The top post in every product thread is the Specs post - it has all of the product information and other useful bits like warranty and estimated delivery time. This one is expected to show up to you sometime between 12/7-12/10.
I got the white one. Love it at the price, despite some mechanical difficulty I anticipate getting help with; if that doesn't happen my opinion will drop. Bad first: It says it loses connection now and again despite the tablet being right next to it, but seems to reconnect quickly and I haven't noticed it doing that today yet. I'm a small woman with decent-sized wrists and the face+bracket is about the size of my wrist. I like bulky watches though and I'm built like a butcher's wife despite my height, so it'll do. If you prefer more feminine accessories, steer clear. I stuck an old Invisishield meant for a cellphone I no longer have on it to prevent scratching.
Notifications work well for various apps. Outlook does seem to have an issue with not wanting to eliminate 'downloading' notice. Subject lines, Hangouts message content, Talkatone notices etc. all go through without problems. I'm running it from a tablet because I don't keep a cellphone, Samsung T217-S.
Nowhere near the pairing problems my Metawatch had. Moreover, the app is more complete. I had to rely on a modded app for the Metawatch that has since stopped being updated and wasn't very effective.
The vibration sensitivity / notification programming is ideal. I like having an hourly 'chime'. The silicone band feels nice on my wrist thus far. Battery life seems good, but battery measurement via app seems inconsistent. It'll bounce around within 10% accuracy, maybe. Haven't had it long enough to run down the battery and know. I do really like that it alerts and nags me about my tablet battery being low.
1 major problem, which I'll take up with the Martians: The top stud seemed to extend further from the watch housing than the other did from the start. The first night having worn it all day I pressed it for the light feature and it fell off. Was able to find it, but even reinserting it doesn't seem to keep it in place enough that I'm confident it won't fall out again. With this glaring exception, build quality seems okay; the watch is responsive etc. The OLED screen is sharp, the time is easily read. No second hand, though.
Overall, solid piece of work. I'm not usually an analog-wearer, but I kinda like the juxtaposition. I might have been even more of a fan of a retro LCD styled digital watch with a mini-OLED, but either way, the increased battery life / fact that at least the watch is always a damn watch is a boon for me. It's also too bad it can't control music players, but it didn't claim to and at the price I'm pleased. It's exactly enough smartwatch for a struggling student, and it'll help me avoid the quicksand that is opening up the tab for just a moment to check time / notifications / whatever and then getting dragged into distractions.
Watch arrived today, would like to say THANKS for the quick ship. Also, a word of warning: the micro USB cord you keep on your desk for charging 'things' might not work. And there is a cord included in the Martian box but it's not immediately evident. Look BELOW the clear watch box and there's a hidden "false bottom" orange box below that contains the cord and a li'l printed Quick Connect guide. Don't toss the box without opening this other, smaller box first.
Other than getting used to wearing a watch after ten years without one, I have not had any issues. I had to leave the house for it to lose its connection.
If more than one Exchange message has come in since I looked at the phone I only get the number of messages, not the sender, but that's what the phone shows. I just have to use the phone to see who the email I'm ignoring is from.
The camera shutter release works.
I got the black one and am using it with a Samsung Note 5.
My other new toy is Samsung Pay, which finally supports Chase cards, and really does work at terminals that don't support NFC.
@carl669 you can get it at Staples right now for less than it sold for on Morningsave or the first time around on Meh. Although I bet VMP isn't worth squat over there.
@andipandi Mine worked fine, but I replaced it with the steel band off of the martian website pretty quickly. My son broke that one, and their support was very fast in sending a replacement!!

Meh, BF Strike out
Nooooo! Whyyyy!?!??!
@ELUNO why ask why..can't you see---the deal tonight isn't really for you or me. It's for people that want a little extra "time" on their hands..
@AttyVette Why not ask why? We should always ask why!
"Watching" the deals tonight
@AttyVette This deal really "ticked" me off!
@AttyVette "time" to search for a better deal.
@AttyVette Perhaps it's "time" to hit the hay.
@Stallion -- wait a " second" ... I am almost out of "time"
@AttyVette Let's be Smart about this and Face it. When was the last Time we Banded together Against Humanity's insatiable desire for more stuff?
I'll Watch while you raise your Hands.
@AttyVette I've got t-too much time on my hands.
boo
Putting the "no" in notifier
Back so soon?
@riceatusc replying to myself because i decided to buy it this time
What a " dial" tonight.... Better "watch" for it.
@AttyVette What is wrong with you?
10 bucks cheaper now, bullshit!
The Martian is still going strong.
Big BF meh.......
You jerks. I bought myself one of these a few weeks ago on here for $35. It was worth it. Great value and looks good.
@ColeSloth yeah, me too- and dammit, it's not bad.
@ColeSloth 25 days ago and it was $34. Oh well, a deal is a deal.
@Mehrocco_Mole Me bought two at old price. One for gift. Now have $20 less that I can't spend on new meh. meh.
This is the SECOND TIME this month for this. (see what I did here?)
@Mehrocco_Mole maybe you should clock out while you rock out..... or you know hours of fun to be had with minutes on enjoyment....
@Mehrocco_Mole
@communist
mrewp.
Damn! Ordered this from the sister site for 66% more than this and its not even here yet. Hate seeing it here so much cheaper now. That's the cheapie in me coming out.
@djslack check if you can return the other one?
A leather one is on the way but this one is also cool and was cheap with Prime shipping.
Trying to think of people I could gift these to so I can order more :)
@djslack Very nice.
@densa Thank you. And thanks for the inspiration, I didn't know what nato straps were before you posted yours.
@djslack @densa - the way it looked with the NATO strap is why I ordered last night to give as a gift.
@densa I think you should get a comission for every NATO mention in this thread. You trendsetter you...
@mehdaf I'd like that very much. You should buy one too.
@thomasaelliott Morningsave won't let you return anything unless you are having it RMA'd. Buyer's remorse isn't a valid refund reason.
@TerribleBrent That same rule applies here, too.
@djslack I think that’s the same NATO strap I put on mine. Got 4 straps for $8. Looks slick!
@KefkasGhost you out-dealed me on that one. I think that faux Bond strap was $4 or $5 on its own. That’s a good price for some style changeups, you should post a link if the deal is still around.
@djslack Here’s the set I got. Slightly different than yours. I’ve been happy with it. http://a.co/iPHmAuT

2015-11-02 Martian Notifier Watch $34
11/27/2015(TODAY) $24 (for future reference)
and so time was frozen on November 27, 2015 due to a comment on meh.com.
So close...sooooo very close to wanting one...just not quite there
@SavvySapphire
If I were you..
I would wait for $14 in 25 days...
Wot's a "silent alarm"?
@tartanknickers it means vibrating.
@tartanknickers it vibrates- with a choice of 1-15 intensities. it's an annoyingly useful watch.
@alacrity @spacezorro thanks!
I JUST LOST MEH VIRGINITY! THREE TIMES!!!
Watch meh pass.

@alacrity That was one of the first things I did. Currently running 10.54, which is the latest per their website. It's not really a major issue, just mildly annoying.
@smigit2002 huh... no clue- but that's par at this point. 'still love the damned thing, tho...
We regret to notify you that the Martian will not be coming home this holiday, you can stop watching for it.
Maybe I am too much of a luddite, but I really don't get the whole concept here.

@Steve7654 because sometimes it's easier- and more polite- to simply look at your watch instead of pulling out your phone.
@alacrity wow. You all seriously need to step back a little and reassess your life choices.
@Steve7654 wow- thanks for that reality check, man- I'll definitely keep that in mind.
@Steve7654 That was rude. Some people are glued to their phones in an annoying manner, but for certain situations those who commented are absolutely correct. No Second hand...Meh, and Kind of big for a woman's wrist, I think.
@Mandamm It is... I'm only 5'3" and 120lbs. It's big, but so is my awesome Betsey Johnson watch!
@Mandamm I would love one of these, but I looked up the dimensions and it is almost as wide as my wrist. I'll have to pass.
And 350 people have given Cards against Humanity $5 already.
@djslack I wonder how many of them will take to twitter in a few weeks when they realize that CAH really means it - they aren't sending out a damned thing. It's fun to watch them do this every year.
@djslack I'm in that group. $5 for an enjoyable Black Friday gag is well worth it. (I'll also be shocked if it doesn't go to charity but ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

@JNA Tripped over this shopping for bands... speaking of screen scratches (mine hasn't yet either, knock on wood). http://www.amazon.com/Shield-LIQuidSkin-Replacement-Self-Healing-Bubble-Free/dp/B00HZ79SQ8
@SColburn Damn, too late for me on that front. Have a pair of scratches between 9 and 11. That's what I get for scraping my arm against a wall.
$24? It's worth it just to get the black watch band. The bands are $19+ on Amazon! Done.
This thing kind of sucks, wish I'd not wanted my money the first time. Meh kind of sucks too, so it's a perfect fit!
I can see this being minimally useful for times I don't want the phone in my pocket but might need information (like when I'm running a drill while coaching). My willingness to pay had always been eclipsed by the price. But not today. You win this one, meh.
unzipped-pastel-button
@jeffcohen it's worth a try, you still need the phone with you, just so you know, at least nearby...
Anyone able to compare this to a pebble?
I love my pebble but for
@russellwilde My friend has a Pebble and has looked at my Martian. Seems like this works better than his Pebble which often doesn't notify him of messages. I have an iPhone 6 and he's on an Android though. So not apples to apples. Do you have any specific questions? I can ask him.
Main difference is this reads your phone but can't communicate back like the Pebble can.
@russellwilde pebble is waterproof. has changeable faces, 2 way control.
@Zypher lol, not an Apple to Apple comparison...
@mehdaf
Only time will tell if this is a good deal or not.
Sorry, Meh, but I got this watch last time around and I would definitely not buy it again. The cable is proprietary (don't believe their lies), the integrating app is sketchy, and the smartwatch portion of the watch got bricked after the app told me to update it.
@tizio
Does it tell you if you're getting a call, or just texts & notifications?
@Achromatter It tells you if you're getting a call. Also notifies you of other things that pop up on your phone aka app notifications.
@Zypher Great, Thanks!!
I'd love the black one more if it didn't have those roman numerals at the 12:00 position.
Wow wtf, I got it on meh for 34 bucks, can I get 10 bucks back?
@bacon4jason Better buy one today, because they might sell for $54 next week. Meh prices are like gas prices; they fluctuate with the market and supply and demand and all that. You by gas today and then it drops $.10 a gallon tomorrow, you ain't gonna get a refund.
@bacon4jason would you accept the $10 paid out in bacon?
@medz Perfectly stated.
@thismyusername I will always accept refunds in bacon. Bacon is the universal currency!
@medz I am from the future. Meh will sell this watch again for $4 more per watch.
@pyip001 how far in the future? is Abe Vigoda still alive?
warning: this watch is not waterproof. for me its the reason why i stopped wearing it.
i wear most watches 24/7 and never have to worry about taking it off for showers etc. its no longer part of my 'muscle' memory. martian is splash proof, but don't go snorkeling with it
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
@jrwofuga I've missed seeing this daily.
@jrwofuga Do you mean this shade of red?
@craigthom That guy was a plant
@jrwofuga That's a rude thing to call a fellow dwag.
So who do you think would buy a ticket in the dwag section, right next to the band, in the Outback Bowl just to hold up this sign?
No, that's a dwag fan. Woof woof.
@craigthom Nah. He's a plant.
I love purple. @Thumperchick, I've missed @jrwofuga's "Georgia Red" remarks, too.
So it appears almost everyone who has one likes it (unlike the first Meta watches). Why is it going so cheap?
Metapprehension? Or Mehpprehension due to Meta?
@RedOak Old model?
@RedOak Black Friday sale maybe?
@RedOak You must not have read the write up
@MEHcus that's right, tl;dr.
Too busy ignoring "sales". Commercial email inbox overfilled. It's Black Friday.
No breakdown of sales by color? We're easily spoiled.
i was excited for mehs black friday...
@thomasaelliott have they re-calibrated your expectations properly?
@thismyusername well they've lived up to their name.
Even at this price I can't convince myself that a smartwatch is worth it.
I've had one for six months and love it. It's a great way to be notified when your phone is in your purse and your surroundings are too loud to hear it.
The cord isn't proprietary, you just need to shave some plastic off other micro-USB for a longer plug.
@mintermom Wouldn't that violate the warranty on your USB cord? Oh, the shame of such a thing!
@mintermom if you have to hack a standard cord to make it function then that would be a "proprietary" cord.
@RedOak Well, the important bits, namely the connector and pins, are not proprietary. So I disagree.
So many choices, so little time... I think hubby would like the black one.... I like the red and the white.... For those who have one, would you please tell me which color looks best or which one u like best? Thanks!
@wildmomo I have the black one, and I purchased the stainless steel band from Martian's website. I love it!
Almost got the black, but there's no minute marks which I find annoying.
advanced-rhetorical-ant!
Anyone know what material the chassis is made of?
@OnionSoup as far as I can tell looking at mine, it's a metal base, plastic body, and metal ring around the watch face
I'm embarrassed to say I double dipped so i could have coverage on days when I the battery needs charging.
@russellmz I just charge mine at night
silicone is a flimsy material for a watch band
@t0mpr1c3 I wouldn't call this band flimsy, but I also didn't call it comfortable.
@t0mpr1c3 the good news is it is replaceable with other bands, including the NATO band posted by @densa
Check it out here:

"It tells you when you get a call or text or when an alarm goes off. It also tells time."
You know what else does that?
My phone.
@TCayer but your phone would look a bit odd on your wrist.
@tommet how many arms do you have!?
i want this, but guess the deal is not for a canadian....😩
k
@onarock unfortunately, meh doesn't ship out of the USA - need to have a US billing and shipping address. From what I understand there are some companies that can provide this service for you, however I don't have one that I can recommend.
Does this work with Windows phones?
@rlox I only see reference to android and ios apps.
@rlox there's a pairing setting for iphone (default) and another for android. nothing mentioned in docs. very doubtful but wth check their website.
Does it pair with iPad Air 2? How reliable is it with Siri queries?
@joeblow Does pair with iPads. Does not do any voice stuff - the new ones that cost ten times as much as this do that though. This does notifications only.
@joeblow it has a button you can press that activates Siri on your phone or tablet.
Dang i guess i should have waited... Oh well it works good.
Have not spent one red cent today.
And today's Mehnanigans keeps the streak going for at least another day.
I am quite disappointed that I missed this. I wanted to buy all three colors. Will they sell this again? I hope so..
@Andoycal You can buy the black one here, but not for $24: https://morningsave.com/deals/martian-notifier-watch-2
My order is still processing...
@thekenya mine too, with a Estimated Delivery: 12/7 - 12/10 they have plenty of time.
TLDR: Not meh for me!
@zehnn Top studs have always been known to extend farther than others.
@zehnn An excellent review!
Don't toss the box without opening this other, smaller box first.
;)
@2palms The microusb was especially made with the longer prong to get into the watch so you are right, they need to find it before tossing the box.
I got mine yesterday, paired it, and charged it.
Great purchase at a great price. The vibration alerts you as soon as the call or text, notification is received. I'm glad I made this purchase.
Other than the battery percentage jumping up and down, I've been very happy with mine so far.
It's GREAT!
Buy it right now!
you people and your good reviews of this watch. making me want to buy it. i already 4 watches. i figuratively hate you all.
@carl669 you can get it at Staples right now for less than it sold for on Morningsave or the first time around on Meh. Although I bet VMP isn't worth squat over there.
anyone else have issues with the strap buckle breaking? I've got a ticket with Martian support, will report back.
@andipandi Mine worked fine, but I replaced it with the steel band off of the martian website pretty quickly. My son broke that one, and their support was very fast in sending a replacement!!
Can you make and receive phone calls on the Martian notifier
@LewisB nope, notifications only...
http://www.martianwatches.com/notifier/
they do have one called the "active" that appears to be able to do that:
http://www.martianwatches.com/active/
I got mine. There's gonna be some pretty notified martians around here
