March 16 -- Operation Cheer-up @Thumperchick
15My idea for today’s topic was to ask to see pics of the recent additions to our community, like beautiful @puppycat, @luvche21 sweet new and old baby boys, @lichme’s gorgeous daughter , @sohmageek’s precious son, @carl669’s precocious son (not so recently added), @mfladd’s adorable set of children, etc… I think @MrsBeckett had a little one? And lots of grandbabies…
BUT, I think seeing that @puppycat is a bit in pieces today, I will leave it be and ask you all to post happy or get-well or cheer up, @Thumperchick, or unsolicited wisdom about feelings of guilt, or whatever you think will make our emergency “worker” feel better.

@thumperchick
I asked my girls to give each h other hugs and smile! Who would have guessed that they would actually listen! I hope this makes you feel better, @thumperchick
@mikibell I have been inactive for so long, I forgot how awesome everyone is!
@MrsBeckett omg, look at those smiles… and all the baby hands… oh mannnn, I need a baby visit soon… will have to steal my great-nephew, but he is almost 4…
@PuppyCat please heal fast and feel better!
wait. what happened to @puppycat? i haven’t been around for a couple weeks so i’m out of the loop.
@carl669 I don’t know how to do that fancy hide the link thing, but go here:
https://meh.com/forum/topics/march-blame-thread#58ca08f87d295f0bdc87066f
@mikibell
I manually do link hiding (or would do it if I partook in sharing URLs) like this:
\ [text here][reference number here]
[reference number here]: URL here
Every time you want to do another link, just increment the reference number by 1 both with the place by text, as well as by the URL.
@someRiverNoise
@someRiverNoise @mikibell That’s a bit more complicated than necessary! Simpler:
[link text](URL)
[Check out this bluetooth speaker site!](https://meh.com)
@carl669 Check out @thumperchick’s note!
@brhfl Coooooooooooooolllllllll… that worked!!!
@brhfl
I know. But I’m used to doing it this way.
My wife threw a birthday party for one of my friend’s sons yesterday - my almost 3 year old is on the left. Both are half-Japanese cuties:
And here’s cutie #2, who just turned 9 months - the photo is a couple months old now since it was dressing up for the new year:
@thumperchick sorry to hear about @puppycat - breaking bones is one of my biggest fears for my kiddos. My 3 year old would have a super hard time with that since he’s suuuuuuuuuUUUuuuuper active, so I hope @puppycat does ok with it!
@luvche21 Look at those adorable kidlets!!!
@luvche21 how beautiful they are!
@Thumperchick Ooh, never heard kidlets before, definitely stealing that one!
@mikibell Thanks! Definitely didn’t come from my half of the family
Today is also National Panda Day.
@mfladd Oh my goodness.
@thumperchick Hope @puppycat heals super quick! Any injury to a family member is always scary, especially to a baby.
Aww, thanks everyone! She’s a trooper.
Here she is just after getting her first “short” cast on:
(Yes, she was pissed.)
Here is a picture from right after that cast fell off:
(She just wiggled out of it. Apparently, babies are squishy and do this often.)
Here’s the second, longer, hopefully wiggle-proof cast:
(Why yes, we did go with purple! I figured the ‘meh’ onesie was appropriate for the occasion…)
My niece is doing well - not a mark on her! She wrapped around @PuppyCat on the way down and kept this from being much, much worse. (I’m going to add another comment on how common this injury is.)
PC is expected to make a full recovery and by the time she’s finished growing, we shouldn’t be able to tell there was ever a break - she got “lucky” with where/how it broke, we are grateful for that.
I’m okay. I mean, I totally lost it in the garage for a few minutes last night, but I’m okay. Thank you all for your concern, kind messages, and cute kid pics!
@Thumperchick can I just say, that picture of her cast with the sock on it makes me glad our joke is about baby arms, not baby legs…that would just make it horrible!
Glad you are doing better!
@Thumperchick I @PuppyCat, (and Meh purple shirts, too.)
@mikibell I want to put a big sock on it and hang it out of a drawer or something and freak people out. I am a terrible human.
@Thumperchick you would fit right in with my household!
@Thumperchick - LOVE your little monkey and the woot monkey chandelier!
@Thumperchick Every time I read about this it hurts more. I’m glad things turned out well (or at least as well as could be expected), but my heart still goes out to you, and the wee one (and to Humper, too).
XXOO
@Thumperchick I can’t believe that child wiggled out of the cast!!! On the other hand it must not hurt all that much for her to have done that. I hope this one stays put!!!
@Shrdlu Thank you.
@Thumperchick Hang it out of your trunk… now that would be a hoot. Too bad halloween is so far away… of course there is April 1st coming up…
@Thumperchick Aww, I hadn’t seen your post before this. Much huggles to you and PC! Glad it wasn’t worse. One day you’ll be telling her about it and she’ll have no idea it ever happened.
See this?
Don’t do that.
That is how your kid gets a Buckle Fracture. This is a weirdly common injury. Kid is on parent/caregiver’s lap while going down the slide, kids foot gets caught on the slide somewhere, the weight of the parent/cg pushes, causing a fracture.
I post this because, I had no freaking idea this was a thing, so I thought I’d share a PSA. It’s safer to help them slide alone than to do the lap slide. (This is essentially what happened to PC on the way down the stairs. I’ll take the leg over a worse injury.)
@Thumperchick Eesh, once you see it explained it makes a lot of sense, but surely… who would think? Hope PC is healing up well.
@Thumperchick Poor @PuppyCat! It would never have occurred to me that this was such an injury prone thing to do. I know how scary kid injuries can be and how easy it is to beat yourself up over it. Please don’t do that, though. You guys are great parents and like you said above, there likely won’t be any lasting damage from this. Hugs to all three of you!
Also a note for when your (general you) kids (or as in my case, husbands) are sledding age: Never try to slow yourself down, or stop yourself, by throwing your leg out. It’s a quick and easy way to get a tib/fib spiral break. That one ends up in major surgeries, six month’s recovery and a leg that probably won’t ever be perfect again.
@Thumperchick Whoa, had no idea that was a bad thing - makes sense though. You probably just saved us from a future broken bone!
My little blueberry wishing your family well, TC.
@KDemo wowzers…look at those eyes…they are spectacular (no pun intended!)
@mikibell - Thanks!
@KDemo What a beautiful child!
@mikibell She has very pronounced limbal rings
@jqubed I have pronounced limbal rings too… but my irises are not nearly that big or beautiful!!! Muddy brown hair, baby poop green eyes!!!
May I take a temporary diversion to post the header image? Everything comes back to meh.
Glad things will be OK in the end. Meanwhile I hope she doesn’t get too frustrated having her mobility impaired… She going to be in this thing around 6 weeks or do baby bones heal faster? I hope things aren’t too hard for you, her or your husband. My niece broke her leg at 3 deciding she’d climb up the dresser (via the open drawer) and jump onto the bed. Missed the bed. Luckily she didn’t tip the dresser over. My sister screwed it into the wall after that. If puppycat turns into a climber might want to do that with shelves and dressers. My sister felt really guilty over that one. Sounds like your niece had good instincts to protect your baby. Sounds like a good kid.
@Kidsandliz tippable furniture is already anchored to the wall. Cast will be on 5-6 weeks, she should be good to go as soon as it comes off. She is already crawling and cruising in the new one!
@Thumperchick It is amazing how adaptable little kids are that age. My school aged kid, on the other hand, wanted me to carry her around for several days with a bruise on her calf from soccer.
Little Miss Lottie wishes PC a quick recovery!
@studerc Holy guacamole, that bowl of popcorn is bigger than she is!!! piggiessss to kiss! she is totally adorable.
@studerc oh man, thank you, beautiful Miss Lottie!!
I’m sorry to hear about your little one. Hope everything works out ok!
Get better soon @PuppyCat! (I’ll try to write more later when Uncle Pavlov has taken his special “medicine” . . . Yes, your mommy has some of that special medicine too — but no, you can’t have any . . . yet. In fact, just wait 'till you’re 30, then you can have some! Maybe.)
