March 11 -- How crazy is your day going to be?
6Today, I have to make neckerchiefs for new Boy Scouts joining our troop. They are soooo adorable – the kids, not the neckerchiefs!
Then, I have to use the Silhouette to cut out letters for sandwich board signs for an up coming fundraiser. People keep adding words to the signs…sigh!
Then, I have to figure out where the state finals are for high school swimming and get my daughter to and from there – I can’t figure out where she learned to enjoy watching sports!! She is lucky I like her friend Ben, because I blame him for this!
At some point, I have to research and learn EV3 coding, as well as find all the part to my son’s robot.
Since I have been away most of three weeks out of the last five, I have to figure out what food we have and what we need to make meals in the next week…
There are a gazillion other errands to run too…
Do you get to enjoy the sunshine today or are you going to be as crazy busy as I am?

Off to buy bagged mulch and spread it around shrubbery. Cue Monty Python. Fight the urge to buy a flat of flowers and a dozen pots of herbs. Do not stop by the open air produce market across the street, the one with exotic and mysterious fruit and vegetables. Especially do not stop by the fish vendors who sell just-caught shrimp with heads on; they’re painful to clean.
@OldCatLady jealous…way too cold here to consider garden work…have to start seedlings soon though. The fish you can keep, but the fresh fruits and veggies, yummyyyy…

@RiotDemon just to dog gone funny. Thanks for the laugh. That’s what I had planned to do today…laugh, laugh and laugh some more.
@mikibell I’m exhausted after reading what your day is going to be like today. So, I’m going to stay in bed all day and rest.
@Barney heheh I am emoticon challenging my son to get out of bed and make me a cup of coffee…I won!
Poor kid, normally loses on the argument.
@Barney p.s. I bet you have busy days to…
@mikibell That’s why I’m staying in bed today. (Seriously.)
Have a good day!
@mikibell
Reading your list of to-do’s tired me out.
Guess I gotta start thinking about thinking about starting on mine. Crap.
@f00l allllll done…just have to deliver the letters. Did get dishes done as well…and bought a Nannette Lapore dress for $14.99 …it is such a pretty teal…
I have to purchase refreshments for a district-wide training I am running on wednesday. Also need to work my second job and then come home and do homework for the hardest class I have ever taken so far. All in all, a typical Saturday for me.
@conandlibrarian I am about to start studying for a certification exam…have to do taxes and then I start in earnest.
I was hoping it’s just allergies, but I think I might be getting sick. Again. What a crummy year so far.
@jqubed oh don’t get sick…that just sucks! Feel better…
I have to play Zelda all day. At some point I might order a pizza. Man, I hate these busy Saturdays.
@Nuurgle have the new nintendo switch?
@mikibell Yeah. I wasn’t planning on it, but ended up getting suckered into the hype
@Nuurgle the son wants one…If I find one by April, he might get it as a bday present. Otherwise, he will have to start working for it… And his evil mom says 1/2 his earnings go in the bank, the other 1/2 to toys.
Did you get neon or gray? We are trying to decide…
@mikibell
/giphy point and giggle
@PlacidPenguin one of my nicer titles!
@mikibell I was up in the air, but just went with the gray as it was the first I found available. Neon is probably more “fun” for the kids, but an old curmudgeon like me doesn’t need fancy colors.
@Nuurgle then my 12 year old is an old curmudgeon also, I think he settled on gray also I have not started to look for one yet…The kid needs another electronic thing, like another hole in his head!
I tormented @Barney some. Off to a good start.
@f00l Just remember, payback is a bitch.
@Barney
You’re in Kansas.
Nuff said.
@f00l True. I was exiled from Colorado back to Kansas, but it is so much better than having to live in Texas.
@Barney I was born on the air force base in Kansas never been to Colorado l would love to see the beauty of it all. I’ve been in Texas since I was 4 yrs old and wouldn’t leave it for anything on this earth, except heaven. My kids were born here grandkids too and there are so many things to do in this great country of Texas. The people are wonderful they would give you the shirt off their back whether you needed it or not. We have our bad apples but who doesn’t. Have a beautiful blessed day.
@Barney said:
So Colorado wouldn’t have you?
And you think Kansas is better than Texas?
OK. I’ll concede that you get to stay there.
@f00l Nobody in Colorado wanted me, so I came home to cry on my mother’s shoulder. Still wouldn’t want to live in Texas.
@Barney
But you could be tormented that much more!
900 miles of driving. Whee!
@sammydog01 wow…that is a long drive…but you had good weather??
@sammydog01
From where to where? 900 miles is a decent day’s drive.
@mikibell The weather was fine for driving- missed the nor’easter by a couple of days.
@f00l Fort Lauderdale to Richmond. 940 miles, 7:30 to midnight. It sure was nice to get home.
Come back to me tomorrow. I should be sober. Don’t plan on drinking (much).
Yay tomorrow.
@PlacidPenguin huh… I would have figured you for a non-drunk-enducing drinker.
@mikibell
…Wait…Huh???
@PlacidPenguin errr yup
@mikibell
Could you simplify that for me? Still confused.
A squirrel (or other nasty rodent) ate a coolant hose in the car on Thursday in work’s parking lot; coolant started spraying on the way home from work but I made it. I replaced it, in the cold, in the dark, then refilled coolant, etc.
A squirrel (or other nasty rodent) ate the replacement coolant hose in the car on Friday. It was spraying coolant before I left work. Patched. Then headlights wouldn’t come on but the check engine light did (P0305, Cylinder 5 misfire detected… you DO keep a scanner in your car, right?). Made it home on the fog lights with engine loping on 5 cylinders.
So today was spent in the driveway, in the cold (16 - 24F) replacing the hose again, replacing two also chewed vacuum hoses, the number 5 cylinder coil, and then ‘patching’ the newly discovered chewed-upon wiring harness that connects to the cylinder 5 coil. Then deciding to replace all the plugs (the one in cylinder 5 was pretty worn). Then replacing the headlight relay that coolant had gotten into. I like working on cars, but not in the cold and windy.
So @mikibell… Goat got any pull with the rodent’s union or do I have to attribute blame?
@duodec I think it was a goat who was doing the munching.
@duodec oh that is horrible! Go ahead and blame me…
@Barney A goat would have to be able to open the hood and jump on to the engine to eat from the top. Unless it was a very tiny goat…
@mikibell thats OK. It was actually fun to work on a car again, even if it was ‘forced’ and too cold, plus I got to think of all manner of dire traps and painful consequences for the villainous rodent. And I probably saved $400+ vs. taking it in for service. I will blame you for the fact that every single toolbox and socket set was missing the 1/4" socket… I’m sure I’ll find some of them soon since I bought a new one.
@duodec I keep a dollar store socket set as an emergency backup for whenever I can’t find one of my good ones. Guess what I wind up using most of the time?
@walarney Well… actually… got the “Sears” set, the (American made) “Craftsman” set, and the Proto Challenger set, all missing that socket… and a couple of cheap Skil sets from Woot a few years ago… all missing that socket. Its so embarrassing! The goat simply must be involved in this…
@duodec so cool that you enjoyed fixing the car. I enjoyed making the neckerchiefs because I was able to figure out how to use the 3mm rolled edge foot on the machine. I butchered the last set…
I guessed on metric…should have gone standard!
@mikibell Metric is weird, though easier to calculate with. Standard is human based and far more understandable.
@duodec I 100% agree…
It was our one year anniversary. The man put us up here for two days. It’s just just awful I tell you. Awful.
@KittySprinkles
Looks downright miserable.
@KittySprinkles congrats!
@KittySprinkles
Sorry about your suffering. You are in my thoughts.
@f00l I have borne a great burden, to be certain
