I buy fuzzy Crocs- I stock up at end of year sales. They are the only slippers that don’t give me plantar faciitis. Plus you can wear them to the grocery store.
@sammydog01
Yes. Have a few.
If you are not outside standing still for a long time, or going to the car, you don’t need socks to keep warm. Fine for walking around in indoors and out. Decent slip resistance. Incredible comfort.
Plus, the pleasure of wearing shoes that incite the croc-haters.
@f00l I used to be a croc-hater. The fuzz gets flat on these pretty quickly but that first week of fluff is amazing. I have several pair of Realtree camo ones in the closet (yep, they were the cheapest). And purple too.
@Barney I love purple in theory but my ladies size 10 feet can’t pull it off. And yet I wear them because they were on clearance. Just call me Grimace.
@therealjrn Alas, too large for me. Being female I have lots of choices. Men’s shoes, women’s shoes, kid’s shoes. I usually get two pairs of slippers in the winter, a pair of slip-ons like these for bedside, and a pair of fuzzy lining ankle boots with leather bottoms for wearing around the house and forays into the yard. I confess to wearing these house shoes to the movies as well.
@therealjrn I was sitting in the Dr’s office when you posted this. Aldi is a block or so from there, and we stopped by and I bought a pair, but I paid $6.99, still a nice deal for a good pair of house shoes for the coming cold weather. Where are you that they are $4.99? I’m in TN, outside Nashville. I also picked up three pair of lounge pants @ $4.99/pair, and a few bargains in the markdowns.
@Lurker Hm, that is weird. I live in Tulsa. I just now looked up a Nashville ad and it shows $4.99 for the men’s slippers too. /shrug $6.99 isn’t bad but mehbe they priced them wrong? I didn’t check each Nashville zip code but perhaps you shop in a swanky one. You can look up the store ads at https://www.aldi.us/en/
I got 1 each of the tan and the blue. We just had a cold front blow through with a 20 degree drop yesterday so it’s nice to have my feet nice and toasty!
@f00l I think I’ve only had one pair of Crocs and they weren’t purple. However, I do like the looks of the Ralen Fuzz ones. Is this kinda like the ones @sammydog01 is talking about?
@rockblossom I do need to get some winter slippers. My feet get cold before the first frost and never seem to thaw out until the first month of summer.
@Barney
I think these are similar to the ones @Sammydog01 mentioned. You might look at both men’s and women’s models. For the men’s sizes, just subtract 2 sizes from your regular shoe size I think.
Crocs has outlet stores - you might check if one is near you. Also there is an official Crocs Outlet store on EBay with lots of stuff.
Crocs has endless sales and coupons. Also you can sometimes get them from Amazon warehouse if the box got a corner dented.
Check Slickdeals for sales info since they do sales all the times. But the best prices I saw were from tye Enay Outlet.
@Barney
These are slippers full of fuzz with a loose fit. And clog crocs are supposed to fit loosely. But if you can find a retail outlet locally, try them there 1st - also anything you order directly from crocs can be returned or exchanged.
Warning - the crocs that look like trad shoes fit differently that the clogs. You have to worry about the fit on the shoe-like ones. With the clogs, the desired fit is supposed to be “kinda loose but not too loose”.
@f00l Yeah, I know they fit loose. But there’s loose and then there’s loose. I guess it would be a good idea to see if I can find some to try on in this backwater town that I live in.
@Barney These are mine. They were fuzzier two years ago when I bought them. I used to have narrow feet. Apparently they are now wide. These specific ones are unisex and are really loose, but the strap on the back keeps them on anyway. I wouldn’t have guessed it but i really love them. Crocs are the only thing I could find close to slippers with arch support.
Unless the clogs are way way too big, my feet kinda learned to keep them on. In winter I do love them. In summer it’s all sandals. My feet do not care for couture anything.
I like ballet-flat style slippers when I wear slippers at all (it’s usually too hot here for slippers) because I hate slippers that don’t stay on, but I don’t like boot-style slippers because it feels like I’m wearing shoes inside. I get a new pair around xmas time when I buy myself new pajamas from Victoria’s Secret- they usually have sets on sale with free slippers at some point around giftmastime.
@kevin I was going to try to find out the brand I get my husband every year or so…they are kinda moccasin like, comfortable but with a sole so he can wear them out to feed the horses, yell at the dogs, etc. I see that you have already found a nice pair. Thank you for this thread. I never thought a conversation about slippers could be so delightful but this one was. Y’all made me smile after a very long day.
@Kevin That’s exactly what my husband likes and I discovered this when one time we were out at dinner and I happen to look down and there on his feet were his slippers. They pretty much looked like shoes but I was like dude it took me an hour and a half to get ready to look decent for you and you couldn’t put on SHOES…men. J/K sorta
@mehbee
What’s so great about shoes, besides being socially appropriate and hurting your feet?
I dearly love these. No pain. No blisters. And you can climb mountains in them or run ultras in them or whatever.
(Not that I do those things, but still.)
(obviously, these are not technical shoes for technical climbing.)
Some people in places like Boulder wear them w fleece socks all winter.
I like to use real sheepskin slippers with the wool on the inside. Pretty pricey, but they are warm, comfortable, and the fleece never mats down like synthetic.
I used to buy them on amazon when I saw them on sale, but the last ones I got looked awesome online and were so narrow it was like walking around on a beam… so I have reluctantly started buying them in stores again so I can verify the width.

@sammydog01 I just shop at Wal-Mart. They seem to have a “flexible” dress code.
@sammydog01

@sammydog01 I know a certain dinosaur with rather large feet and he seems to look pretty good in purple.

@therealjrn dress code like this?

Those might work for slippers if you don’t want to wear knee socks
ooh ooh they come in multicolor

And there are plenty more that are NSFW…
@sammydog01 another vote for fuzzy cross

@Kidsandliz Why do these women have tails???
@jqubed Because they are weird?
@Kevin
You’re in luck! Aldi has men’s slippers for $4.99 this week!

@moondrake Darn it! I’m going by Aldi this morning after seeing the doctor. I imagine they will sell out quickly. Good luck on your search!
@moondrake PS My sainted Mom shops the children’s department all the time. She has found some very good deals on clothes that will fit her.

I guess I’m too late?

@Barney
I think you’re right on time
Everyone else was just early.
@f00l Well, I was told to be here before midnight…
@Barney As slippers go, that one looks a bit uncomfortable. Best slippers for the ladies:

@rockblossom
Magic slippers never hurt unless they’ve been magic’d to hurt.

@f00l I don’t live in Kansas any more, but these are my favorite ruby slippers:

Just got a new pair at Amazon, getting ready for winter. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B018Z5D4PE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@rockblossom My feets are too big for the slippers in your first picture.

@sammydog01 Thanks for the pic. I love that color.
@Barney what color is that?
@therealjrn I believe… I think… It just might be… PURPLE!!
@Barney yay!

@mehbee hah! Your welcome.
I like having a hard bottom to the skipper so I can go outside and drive the car. That’s the reason why I went with the Isotoner.
@Kevin That’s exactly what my husband likes and I discovered this when one time we were out at dinner and I happen to look down and there on his feet were his slippers. I can’t wear slippers but wear velcro wally sneaks around the house.

@Pamtha I grew up reading the Hardy Boy mysteries!

I guess it takes about a month to have requests filled.
