A bunch of people took a wrong turn with Albuquerque, and the homes in St. Louis apparently aren’t as iconic as we’ve all learned their bagels are. Give @jmoor783 an honorary Ph.D. (Phinding Domiciles) for their performance in locating three of yesterday’s American Houses:
@JasonToon Is there anything at all in that picture that would give us a clue it’s St. Louis? Far as I know, there are no particular architectural styles that the city is really known for.
@cinoclav Well, that’s a mid-1800s French house in Soulard, one of the oldest neghborhoods west of the Mississippi and home to the country’s second-biggest Mardi Gras celebration (admittedly by a huge margin, heh). I thought maybe the French thing would point in that direction, but I guess St. Louis’s French history isn’t as well-known outside the city as we St. Louisans might think.
@cinoclav Is that an excuse!?! I’m googling videos in front of my team, because I care! And because as Jason says, the satisfaction of being right is > $5.
@lehigh Umm… yeah, I have a reasonably good excuse. My job may require a bit more hands on the job and off the computer than yours. I went from testing a thyroid patient, looking for cancerous nodules, to trying to figure out what kind of gastrointestinal bleeding my patient was having, to scanning a patient to make sure his cancer hadn’t metastasized.
@tekbot@Trillian I’m very impressed with both of you. @tekbot you might want to put the whole list down in one place and add a video clip of your own. Or @Trillian could fix hers. Either way.
I tried to bluff on #5 - I was at work and didn’t have time to learn to do a reverse image search from a video, so I found a wiki page of 50’s band names and picked the most obvious color name (runners up: The Flamingos and The Robins). And I promise that I didn’t look at Lehigh’s hint! I went back to delete my answer because I wasn’t totally sure I was eligible, but missed the edit window by 3 minutes. Then I put my phone on silent so I wouldn’t be tempted to see these responses until I got home. Anyway, I think it’s only fair for @tekbot to win, because them’s the rules. And also because I have no idea how to claim the coupon code I won last week.
P.S. Welcome to the forums @tekbot, stay and play with us some more! How did you figure out Ruby?
@Trillian I found Ruby and the Romantics by googling the telephone number or whatever it was on screen and Venus whatever was in the bottom of the screen. But I had nothing on the red theme so I shoehorned it into my L theme

@JasonToon Oh, so #4 WAS Santa Fe? Do you have the source? It’s killing me that I’ve seen it in person, or I think I have
@JasonToon Whoa awesome thanks! My first win!
KRULL! A SKULL! BRETT HULL! AWESOME!

I told you it wasn’t Boston.
I thought #5 looked like something in Old Towne St Charles, Mo but figured I was having a “moment”
Whoa. This one is difficult.
@Gypsigirl213 Agreed!
F#%* St. Louis
@steelopus Enjoy this: https://deadspin.com/the-mayor-of-st-louis-is-a-complete-dipshit-1642052026
Yep, total loss here. Any thoughts?
EUREKA! But alas, I am not eligible to win. May post a hint in a few…
@lehigh OK, here’s one that seems vague enough… though a great book series (and movie!)
@lehigh I’ve been so damn busy today. Have to take a longer look at it when I get home.

I’ll take a Leap here:
Jeremy Lin
Laverne and Shirley
Legal tender
Lacquer
Love song
And…
Lemonheads.
@djslack Evan Dando rules… but I don’t think it’s L-themed
Don’t know if this will help, but maybe it’ll save someone some Googling - that is Salmon P. Chase on the $10,000 bill.
/youtube red song
@Trillian excellent work!!! I think this is it. How did you come up with the Cardinals?
@slipperyp @Trillian Almost there…
@Trillian If it’s red themed, #5 would be Ruby, no? Ruby and The Romantics…
@tekbot @Trillian

@sammydog01 @Trillian I wasn’t tracking the red theme at all - that was all Trillian. Just glad to assist.
OK, just to ensure nobody snakes it - please give the fiver to @Trillian; they did the hard part.
@tekbot I was doing the same below when you posted. But you should get credit too. I was going nuts trying to figure out what group that was.
I’m going to list them but @Trillian and @tekbot definitely get the credit.
@slipperyp @lehigh @tekbot

@Trillian to claim coupon code, at checkout type “looksmart” in the coupon box.
@djslack @Trillian I knew the words to the song because I’m freaking old. The theme? I had no idea.
@Ignorant Thank you kindly. I hope Meh sells an Irk plushie before it expires.
@djslack Ah, I missed the small print on my phone. Good eye!
@djslack @Trillian getting #5 was the hardest but this helped: https://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.php?1750-Vocal-Groups-With-Female-Lead-Male-Backups
@lehigh I was looking for a list like that but didn’t find one with the answer. Kudos
@Ignorant @Trillian aaahhh…thank you kindly. For the mental nudge to one of my all-time faves
