Life as December Goat: Day 16
9I have been craving a schnitzel sandwich from a German restaurant a few towns over. This thing is amazing and at $6.95 for the sandwich and a huge side, it is a great deal! I made tonkatsu this past week and it kind of curbed the craving a bit but it will remain until I finally make it to that place again. Are you craving any particular meal at the moment?

I’ve been craving some nice brats.
@therealjrn You can have my kids for a few days.
Potato soup
Lobstah and fried clams (with bellies you clam strip losers)!
@mfladd The clam belly/strip wars continue. We all remain riveted, awaiting the final outcome of what is sure to be the most thoroughly relevant issue of our lifetimes, and of a thousand lifetimes to come.
@shahnm You sound like a clam strip guy.
@mfladd I clam no allegiance…
And yes, I did that on purpose.
@mfladd that looks amazing!
@mfladd @tnhillbillygal gal, you took the words right off of my keyboard. THat is what I thought too. yum!!
It’s always about the ribs…
baby!
@2many2no those look delicious.
Yeah, that kielbasa cheese steak I posted on the sausage thread. https://meh.com/forum/topics/best-kind-of-sausage#5c1105d994a4db3e52e21e99
Fish meat balls with white sauce and potatoes. This is the meal I miss the most from Norway. The fish came in a can with brine. The brine seasoned the white sauce. Boil some potatoes and remove the skin. Sprinkle seasoning over the very white plate.

Sometimes I just want one of those restaurant grilled cheese sands, you know? Not the freaking fancy ones with 5 cheese inside. Just those greasy gooey ooey yummy ones.
I wish we had a really good German restaurant around here. If a guy wants to travel, there’s a ton of small towns that feature this type of food regularly, just not practical to drive 100 miles into central North Dakota just for a good schnitzel. There used to be a high quality (& high $) German restaurant Winnipeg, MB but I heard they closed down a couple years ago… I used to go in and ROLL out…so damn good, but again, just not practical to go 200+ miles just for a meal, no matter how awesome!!
@tohar1 There’s lots of people in the DFW Metro that think it’s normal to drive an hour or two to get that special meal. They’ll pass a dozen other restaurants, some of the same type, along the way.

@2many2no If that picture is DFW, I’d say run for the hills!! Whichever line of traffic is heading out of town would be the one I’d be on! PS: I did get to dig in to a nice mettwurst for lunch today…Bavarian mustard, grilled hot & sweet peppers, REAL sauerkraut alongside some sweet potato fries & beer-cheese sauce.
@tohar1 Nah, it’s just random giphy, but any big enough city is like that.
Food looks great, especially the kraut und wurst.
